Tecra S3 - Is there possibilities to work without fan noise?

Hi, I have recently bought a Tecra S3 notebook. All is ok, but fan is always on. When I do nothing for 5-6 minutes fan is going down (switch off) but after couple of minute, even I leave laptop alone it turn on again. I must add that I have set a long life profile in power saver utilities.
Do you observe the same behavior?

Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

Today, two other users reported issues with the back-forward history list dropping down if they hovered the mouse pointer over the back or forward button -- without clicking -- and then moved the pointer downwards. One user was on a touchpad, I don't know about the other user. Are you experiencing anything like that?

There could be a 32 bit vs 64 bit issues-is the old machine a 32 bit? and what is the new machine as far as 32/64 bit. I am not sure now if CS5 has in the help menu of the PS app the selection to update within PS if so that might work. Will iBook G4 work without internal HDD?

I have searched, surfed, browsed, read and read... and more regarding my problem with my iBook... it seems I´m almost lost (without having to pay a couple of hundreds euros)...
Basically my iBook started to crash 2 weeks ago. In the beginning I thought it was the old 60Gb HDD... thus I bought a new 160Gb WD and a Firewire enclosure... plugged the new HDD and installed Mac OS X... then followed the ifixit instructions and replaced the old HDD for the new one. First boot went excellent! But...
Because there is always at least one BUT... the new HDD started to crash... same as the old one did... I got the intermitent forder / ? sign and the like... and worse the old 60Gb is running through the firewire case!!! I can boot and everything...
This only meant either the HDD orange ribbon is broken or the IDE Controller from the mainboard... my gutts tell me is the chip... (when pressing it, it works... and have tried out the "shim-thing" suggested somewhere on the net without any success)... nonetheless I ordered a new ribbon...
So the question: Can I remove the 160Gb and NOT install the old 60Gb... just leave it "empty", and still manage to use my iBook through the firewire connection with either of the HDD?

Richard... many thanks... trust me when I say that before posting I´ve been around a lot, including big part of the Discussions here... your thread was helpfull over the weekend when I tried it out, although with the ifix disassembly method... I tried just disassembling and reamsseblying verifying every connection and screw... then special focus on the orange ribbon (plus the previous)... and so on till the "shim" variation... it is clear that applying pressure which gave me some results...
Thus, discarding possibilities it is all down to the chip (described here http://www.coreyarnold.org/ibook/)... I do have a couple of friends with soldering skills and the corresponding equipment... - An iPod can only sync with one iTunes library. Yu can however manage music and videos among different computers by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
- To change syncing computer, move all the media to compute r#2
- Connect the iPod to #2 and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note tha the iPod backup the iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music.

Every time I download a PDF I get a message that says There was a RAISE without a handler. The application will now close. What does this mean?

I'm having the same issue. Again, unfortunately. And of course you will find through various searches that it is a reoccurring issue, one that Adobe seems to have failed to acknowledge.
You can delete your preference files. Same thing. RAISE blah blah crash.
You can even go and do a restore from an uncorrupted backup from over 4 months ago, and yet it still doesn't solve the problem, thus there is a compatibility issue.
The program is battling with another program (of which there really is no telling) and therefore crashing the moment you open it. The software itself is clean and uncorrupted, yet somewhere deep within OSX there is a problem that won't allow the software to open.
The only temporary solution i've found to solve the problem is a clean adobe install. Just delete and uninstall all and any traces of Adobe Acrobat, then reinstall to find a working adobe product. For a small while, at least.
I've never tried creating a new account, but from what others say it works. Not worth my time though.
If anyone was wondering I have zero third party plugins. Its straight from Adobe CS4. Pro version.
Someone above mentioned using the drop down menu in acrobat to reset the software. I can't even do that! The "RAISE" window pops up before that actual software! Its ridiculous!
Its really quite peeving to know that this issue has been around for years and Adobe seems to just ignore it. I know I don't want to pay for a company that fails to meet their customers needs. This is your problem Adobe, not ours to deal with. Fix It.

I'm new to JDeveloper and I'm working on SRDemo application from online ADF tutorial under JDeveloper. After 6th chapter I tried to run the app with embedded oc4j. After a login to app i got a toplink exception caused by a security exception. I've tried toplink part of the application with a standalone client it works without this strange problem. Also other toplink tutorials that i have work without oc4j.

This happens when i run toplink project inside oc4j, with a normal java client outside oc4j it works.
The strange thing is the root cause of the problem (the exception complaining about signer) . If the root cause of this problem was really correct system wide, neither security code samples nor the standalone client that i tried would have worked.
Only similiar issue I've found on the net is a problem that occured under eclipse due to a bug in previous versions of jce, but it seems this is no longer an issue.
No one other than me seems to have this problem, so this implies a problem with my system, but the root exception about signer information (which is not correct) says there is something wrong with toplink/oc4j runtime or there is some subtle bug.
I am trying to download another jdk1.5 version to see if this is a subtle bug of java-1.5.0.04 and oc4j, but either sun servers or my isp has a problem because the download is in the order of bytes and fails all the time.
I think there can be a problem with the java2.policy file under oc4j config dir, but i don't know if it is really used and necessary or not.
I don't know much about oc4j config so i need some help to proceed. thanks in advance

Sorry, I tried something that I should have tried before posting, that gives another information about my problem.
when i use standalone oc4j using start_oc4j.bat under jdev/bin, I also get the same security exception stack (nothing deployed to server) during server initialization. the default java command in start_oc4j.bat is this:

To be honest I cannot imagine this issue has something with software or background processes. Recovery image you got with your notebook is designed for this certain notebook mode. Recovery image is tested and I dont think preinstalled OS has anything to do with this.
Full diagnosis?
And how to do this? You know very well that diagnosis can be done with diagnostic tools only and such tools have services only. I hope you will find answers but Im 99% sure there is nothing you can do about that. Maybe you should contact service, explain the situation and ask for help.

Toplink JPA LAZY loading in Java SE works without javaagent?

JVM parameter?
the strange thing is: I did 2 test runs, with and without the java agent parameter. I also could see that in the first case the weaver is working, in the second the property "toplink.weaving=false" is printed to the console BUT if I access the LAZY mapped attribute of the object instance it works in both cases - I expected a NullPointerEx. in the case without the javaagent.
Is there anything I missed?

thank for for the tip about verifying lazy or eager fetching. The results are interesting - or better: confusing - to me:
I have built a test project with 3 entities:
Entity A hast @OneToMany to Entity B and
Entity B has ManyToONe to Entity C
A <-- B --> C
ALL relations are marked with FetchType.LAZY in all directions.
When I simply run the test project via main()-method out of eclipse, WITHTOUT specifycing a -javaagent parameter in the run dialog, I can confirm using your test case that the realtion IS LAZILY FETCHED.
So, I do not really know how this should work without the javaagent.
You mentioned statically weaved classed - is this the default case when no agent is present, how is it done? Toplink logging says that weaving is NOT active:
ServerSession(16821027)--Thread(Thread[main,5,main])--property=toplink.weaving; value=false
so how can the lazy loading work then?

There was a RAISE without a handler. - Adobe Reader 9 Mac PPC 10.4.11

Hi, just recently everyone has been getting this error at my place of work. After searching around this seems to be a pretty rare problem with not many solutions. Everyone is running Adobe Reader 9 and is accessing these files from a share on a server. The odd thing is if I access the server and copy the pdf from the server to a mac it works fine when its on the actual machine, but opening it from the share gives this error "There was a RAISE without a handler. The application will now exit."
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure, but I got the same error on my macbook pro with Mac OS X 10.5.8 and Acrobat 9.2 (CS4). I never had any problems before until I tried to install the suggested update to version 9.3.0 with Adobe Updater. The Update didnt finish the installation and since then I have this error message.
I must say that I lately updated/installed the free utility "PDF Browser Plugin v.2.2.3" from Schubert IT which brings full Acrobat functionality to Safari. Acrobat 9.2. and PDF Browser Plugin were running without any problem before I tried to run the update. (I am not sure if the PDF Browser Plugin was running on my MacBook Pro System before - but I didn't experience any problems with the Plugin and Acrobat Pro on several other Macs at work)
But now I am not sure if the Browser Plugin has brought up the Updater to fail - especially because it is just a Plugin for browsers located /library/Internet Plug-ins)
I now try to fix this issue and let you know if I was successfull. I was just thinking, if you maybe also have this plugin installed. It runs in the background and is normaly not buggy, and that why most users don't even recognize wheter its installed or not...

Hey Calchick, I didn't read much of the details, only looked for key words, like offline, translation, etc. Illaass is correct, voice recognition and translation programs tend to be very large. If you have web access, you can talk in your native language and be heard in the foreign language. With out the web, your a text and read operation.
Personal experience, may help you, take of it what you will-- in BC time, (Before Computers) and traveling around, I found if you learn a few basic phrases in the language of the people you are visiting, i.e., things like, "Can you help me?", "Where am I" (have a map in hand when you ask this), "Where is the bathroom", "How much?", "Where do you go eat", "Where's the market?", "Take me to the pharmacy / hospital", and the most important phrase: "Thank You" I know, dumb examples but you get the point, about 20 phrases that cover the basics, who, what, where, when, and how, (think about the questions or things you would ask if you were in a city, in the country you now live, that you have never been in) and a working knowledge of some basic answers, (also, learn a few cruse words, that way you will know if your getting help or the butt of a joke), along with a translation guide book, you can get through almost any situation. Being able to speak even just a little of the other persons language, without using a device, will make most people want to help you, (unless you get a real A-hole), most people will help you if you make an attempt to learn and speak there language, even if it's just a little, (shows you cared enough to try). The translator app just replaces the book, and it will make it easier to learn the phrases. Remember; The app is just a tool, not your mouth. It can get a little rough at times, but generally works, got me through a few countries and made a few friends along the way. Having a soccer ball helps too! Hope this helps, have good travels.
