Tecra S3: LPT port - EPP mode not available

How Can I change LPT port mode to EPP in Toshiba TECRA S3 ?
In the BIOS settings only ECP and SPP are available, but I have memory programmer that needs to be connected to LPT port working as EPP.
It doesn't work in ECP or SPP.

Maybe it's not so simple fact when this facility was implemented in chipset. BIOS is the only limitation.
There are another tools available for another copmuters (it usually means for another chipset) allowing lpt port mode to be temporarily changed to value not available in BIOS.
Does anybody have any information about this type of tools for Toshiba ?

I had a Sony Clie working just fine on my new Dell XPS 400 with Windows XP 2005 Media edition. It died on me and when I went to recharge it, I got a message I'd never gotten before:
"The selected port, COM1, is not available at this time. HotSync Manager will open the port when it becomes available."
I just bought a new Palm Z22 and I'm having the same problem.
The crazy thing is, I HAVE NO COM (SERIAL OR PARALLEL) PORTS ON THIS COMPUTER! Consequently, there is no "Ports" icon in the Device Manager.
I'm totally stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I am having the same problem on both my PCs (HP Laptop and Dell Laptop) using Bluetooth via USB. I can connect with the cable just fine every time. I also successfully HotSynced via Bluetooth the first time.
After shutting down the PCs, the I get the "The selected port, COM X, is not available at this time. HotSync Manager will open the port when it becomes available."
I've gone in to the Microsoft Bluetooth manger and added and deleted ports several times. That hasnt worked.

Curtain mode not available

Hello, I'm new to ARD ... running ARD 3.0 Unlimited, created an install package an installed on the target PowerMac G4 running OS X 10.4.8, opened the services ARD, Remote Login, and File Sharing (FS for general use) services in the firewall, and I can monitor or control the client reliably.
I did create an admin account for ARD in the Package utility - this user has all possible rights but I didn't allow VNC or Guest request.
When I try to use the Curtain Mode while in Control Mode the Curtain Icon is greyed out, mousing over says "Curtain Mode not available for "mac name"", and when I try to directly connect via Curtain Mode I get the error "Could not change to Curtain Mode, (2nd line) an error occured on this computer"
Pretty vague, anyone know what's needed for Curtain Mode to be available/work? - thanks - KR

Curtain mode should work on any system running 10.4 and ARD 3.
KR - that's my understanding. All the systems are running OS X 10.4.8 and see below on ARD version...
Have you upgraded the client (G4) to 3.x? 2.x is the default installation.
KR - good question, I created the client package via Create Client Installer in ARD and manually installed it on the G4. This should have upgraded the ARD client to v3, right? I haven't found a way to verify the ARD client version (suggestions gladly received!) except the recorded version number in com.apple.ARDAgent.plist - which lists 3.000000 as the version, which I'm assuming means v3.0
Is the G4 headless? Curtain mode only works on machines with monitors attached.
KR - that's good to know - the G4 does have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse attached. Along those lines the G4 has the factory installed video card and the LCD display is in 1280x1024 res. I tried 1024x768 res, same result...
Also, in case it makes a difference - I have the Sharing/Firewall on, Services Personal File Sharing, Remote Login - SSH, Apple Remote Desktop, Apple Remote Events, and Network Time allowed. The Macs are in my lab, all on a 100BaseT hub with no firewall or NAT in between each other.

"Open in 32-bit mode" not available

Two iMacs, (2.66GHz & 1.83GHz), both running 10.6.2. The GET INFO window for SAFARI on the older iMac does not show the checkbox with "Open in 32-bit mode" beside it - the newer iMac does. Other noticeable difference is "Open using Rosetta" is 'active' (available {but not selected]) on the older iMac (Rosetta is installed), whereas it is 'greyed out' on the newer machine (where "Open in 32-bit mode" is available).
It 'appears' as if, on the miscreant iMac, that Safari IS running in the 32 bit mode whereas iPassword 2 is working fine in Safari - that version of 1Password isn't suppose to work in the 64 bit mode. If this is the case, how do I get SAFARI back to the 64 bit mode.

HI Jim,
Open your Activity Monitor application. (Applications/Utiities) and select My Processes from the pop up menu.
You can view which apps run in 32 or 64-bit mode under Kind on the right.
If you don't run Safari in 32 bit mode, Safari is likely to crash and freeze. So your iPassword 3rd party app should be ok.

Zen Micro is frozen, Rescue mode not availa

Aurgh. I've had my Zen Micro since October, and it's worked well up until today. I went to power it on and it would boot up just to the Zen Micro splash screen, where it stayed. I couldn't power it off using the power button so I took the battery out several times. Each time I put it back the Micro would boot to the Zen Micro screen, but wouldn't go any further. Finally, I read how to put the player in Rescue Mode. When I boot up after taking the battery out and with the power button held, it does the exact same thing. No Rescue Mode is available, no other menu comes up.
Any ideas on how to resolve? I really don't want to send this back to Creative for repair.

Not sure if this is even possible (if it won't start up under any circumstance), but have you tried updating to the newest firmware?

K9N6PGM2 Higher Resolution Display Modes not Available

I've updated a computer with a K9N6PGM2, NVIDIA GeFORCE MCP61P + Nforce 430 chipset, motherboard and am having problems with video modes.
Via the control panel window:
Dell 1701FP (analog) on nVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce430
BIOS 5.61.32.25.15
Modes supported 640 X 480, 16 COL Default refresh
Modes supported 800 X 699, 16 COL Default refresh
Driver 5.1.2001.0
The board is not overclocked.
First problem: On the display setting tab only 800 X 600 and 4 bit color are listed as options. This doesn't match the modes supported info.
Second problem: Where are the higher resolution and deeper color modes?
I've read articles about the chipset and they say "VGA" is supported. Does this mean only resolution above the old VGA specification, 640X480 and 800X600? I've used older MSI boards, nForce2 for example, and the higher modes are supported.
On a similar MSI nFORCE board where high resolution is supported the shared VGA memory value was 64k. As an experiment I increased the share on this new board first to 128 then 256k. While resolution and color depth settings are now available selecting them results in an error message indicating the mode selected is invalid.
I'd appreciate any suggestions of where to go from here.

Updated drivers have been installed but no change is apparent. I can change the resolution and color depth settings under "settings" in the monitor tab of display. Same error message, invalid settings. Afterward the expanded rage of settings is replaced by 800X600 only with a color depth of 4 bits.

Sleep Mode Not Available

After Windows 10 clean installation my notebook dosn't sleep when I close lid & dowsn't wake when I open.Even there is no sleep option in startmenu>power.And the screen doesn't turn off after selected inactivity time period,instead it just turns black.How can I get back sleep mode?

I had a similar problem after upgrading my Pavillion m6 Notebook. Windows 10 installed smoothly and it looked and work really great until I closed the lid. When I opened it again, I saw a blue screen and rotating dots that went on for hours. After a total of 9 hours working with Microsoft tech support, we concluded that my Intel graphic driver HD 4000 was most likely the culprit, as it had previously caused occasional RAM failures. Looking back at the Win 10 installation log, I saw that a more current driver was chosen by the utility out of Microsoft's own library. It was obviously not compatible, probably because the Intel driver was customized by HP and needs to be replaced by a custom driver. I actually found a more current HP driver yesterday, but I'm not certain that it will work and I don't want to go through the ordeal of rolling back to Win 7. The option of going back to a previous OS build after installing Windows 10 is only available for 28 days, so keep that in mind. The bottom line here is that it's best to wait and see if other users have successfully upgraded a similar machine. You might want to check all of your drivers as well. I assume you know how to boot into safe mode to see what you have going on at the moment.

IChat invisible mode not available with gtalk.

after leaving my imac switched off for quite a long time, ichat does not offer the invisible mode any longer. I use a gmail account, I tried to remove the old one and re-create one from scratch but nothing. the only way to have this 'invisible' option available is by creating an AIM account (which I don't have, and still want to use the gtalk one). what happens? anyone got that bug before?

I must agree with Defcom that I don't remember any of my Jabber accounts ever being able to be set to Invisible.
However as I have not deleted my com.apple.iChat.Jabber.plist I looked in there to see if there was a setting on my G4's version.
It appears that there is a setting listed in there that is no longer accessed by the Preferences.
Attempting to change this setting with Property List Editor and Saving it makes no difference to the GoogleTalk Account when iChat is relaunched even though the setting remains in place.
This will either be an iChat setting that is no longer used or a change at the GoogleTalk end.

Mode not available on user portal

If we setup the default for users to be OTP how do they change to OTP+pin and set a PIN?
I turned all the users options on for the portal but the MODE option did not show up
If I set myself up as an admin then I get a mode option for the user I searched for

Mode is dictated by the admin. Users can't choose for themselves whether to require PIN or not. Users can be set to PIN mode in the MFA Server or through the User Portal Admin functionality in the User Portal.

Design mode not available when creating or opening a php file - CS5

I am not sure if this is a bug or not. When I create a new php file, it opens in code view. The options to view in design or code and design mode are disabled. If I reset the workspace, does not matter which workspace I am in at the time, then the file is displayed in code and design mode but the options to view in design or code and design are disabled.
If I select code view mode, the design view disappears (as expected) but there is no way to get to design or code and design without resetting the workspace.
Is this considered normal operation? The help system does not hint that there is a restriction on view modes for a PHP file.

my DW opens always in that mode which I last worked in with a file and then closed DW. Did you already try this (tranlated from German DW):

There are four possible causes of the activation error:
The activation server is unavailable. Rare, but it happens. Usually fixed within minutes.
Your antivirus or firewall (or your router's firewall) is blocking access to the domain gs.apple.com on ports 80 and 443.
Your phone is jailbroken.
Your phone isn't jailbroken, but the computer you are connected to during the restore or update was used to hack or jailbreak some other iOS device, and its network database was corrupted in the process.
Perhaps this will provide you some clues as to how to proceed. If your iPhone has not been jailbroken, Apple has some troubleshooting suggestions here:

GPS Error on F3507g & Windows 7 "The GPS NMEA COM Port is not available" x200

I have an X200 with a WWAN Card 43R153 (Ericsson F3507g) running Window 7.
The WWAN reliably connects to Vodafone but I can't get the GPS to work.
Device manager shows this port Enabled:-
Ericsson E3507G Mobile Broadband MiniCard GPS Port (Com8)
Driver Invogps.sys from Ericsson AB, Version 1.0.0.28 29/09/2008.
Thinkvantage GPS version 2.50 is also installed and Lenovo System Update says everything is up to date.
When I "Turn on GPS" or run 'Lenovs GPS" I get this message:-
The GPS NMEA COM port is not available. You need to check the following things.
- Another GPS application is using the COM port.
- COM ports is disabled. You can enable the COM port in the Device Manager.
Location and Other Sensors shows nothing installed.
I've tried deleting all the drivers and reinstalling but not luck.
Has anyone else had the same problem and found a solution. I can't think of anything else to try.

If you are running a Windows 7 Weather Gadget on your desktop, try shutting it down entirely and see if that changes your GPS "in use" problem.

USB port 1 & 3 not working, BT not available

iMAC 27", Mid 2011
The USB port 1 & 3 (1 is near the firewire port) are not working, also Bluetooth is not available.
I try to reset PRAM and SMC but it didnt change the situation.
When executing Hardware Test (Diagnostics) no errors are found (short and long test). When in the hardware test, all USB ports are working.
AND afterwards when restarting Mavericks the USB port 3 works again - but when I then unplug the mouse, put it to port 4 and back to port 3 it does not work anymore. (I didn't check if the same happens with port 1).
Any suggestions how to fix it?

Unfortunately it doesn't change anything.
Yesterday I reinstall Mavericks from scratch (erase hard disk and install OS). Now no bluetooth icon appears in the menu bar - even not in system preferences.
Some further issues I notice but I'm not sure if they are related to the bluetooth issue:
it takes about 60sec. after a reboot/restart until the apple logo appears and the progress indicator is running
