Tecra S5 - no display support for 1680x1050 in Win XP

Hello,
I have a Tecra S5 with NVIDIA Quadro NVS 130M, 512MB. The driver version is 6.14.11.5692.
And en external monitor Samsung SyncMaster 2232BW.
Using Win Vista as OS, I can set the resolution 1680x1050 to the external monitor.
But I switch on Win XP and now I don't have the option of choosing the resolution 1680x1050 to the Samsung monitor.
Can you help me on this?

Have you installed the newest display driver for Windows XP?
On the Toshiba website version 6.14.11.5692 for Windows XP is the newest (same as Vista).

Is the external monitor recognized as Plug & Play monitor?
You can also test drivers from the manufacture. There is a driver available for Windows XP.

  • OS X Maverick Multi Display Support for grouping multiple monitors into one display?

Will the new Mac Pro be capable of grouping multiple monitors into one large display?  Similar to AMD Eyefinity for the purpose of gaming.

The current Mac Pro, or any Mac released since 1987 that can support multiple displays can ALREADY support combining all attached displays into one Extended Desktop, onto which you can open the gaming window and game across multiple displays. It is built into the System Software.

  • Retina display support for indesign urgently needed!

I know this is been said before but indesign really is unworkable for long periods of time without getting a headache. It is a program designed for text and when that text is unreadable it's a problem. Please please please update this soon.

I am sorry if this sounds harsh, but you could enable HiDPI as far ago as December 2011, see this article: http://www.cultofmac.com/132751/enable-retina-like-hidpi-display-modes-in-os-x-lion-video- how-to/
I know plenty of OS X and iOS developers and as soon as that info came out they a) started planning for the transition and b) pretty much knew how Apple will handle high-resolution displays (same as they did on iOS—by doing resolution doubling).
If Adobe was somehow "surprised" by this then they have a bunch of idiot managers on their InDesign team. And, no, it’s not Apple’s fault that Adobe’s apps don’t use Cocoa’s UI controls but are instead going for some weird ***, half-flash-half-not combination of a home grown UI framework monstrosity. They’ve been trying to have a "magic" UI framework that works across Windows and OS X for over a decade and it has never worked well (at least not on the Mac side). You’d think they'd learn it one day, but apparently idiot corporate policies like "Flash is an app development framework, now!" trump pragmatic engineering decisions.
As for the non UI, content rendering—if it works at 200% zoom, it works with HiDPI.
To be honest, seeing how little in terms of innovative features Illustrator gets I was really surprised by its retina support being out as quick—and InDesign’s being MIA.
It’s fascinating that Apple can make do with Cocoa which is at its core a UI framework that is over a decade old while Adobe has been fumbling around like a bunch of amateurs.
And, yes, this post was brought to you by having to work with InDesign over the weekend on a retina MacBook Pro and googling to see if or when an update is forthcoming. *grumble*

  • Retina Display Support for Slideshow and Web Modules?

    Hello,
I have been working on a set of images from a recent vacation and created a web gallery to display them.  I am using a Retina MacBook Pro and I noticed that when loaded in the browser (Safari), the gallery images look slightly blurry - similar to "non-retina" prepared images.  I also created a slideshow in the slideshow module and they look the same.
Can someone tell me if this is due to the fact that Lightroom is not rendering the preview images to be compatible with retina (HiDPI) support?
I'm very disappointed that I have invested in such an expensive piece of hardware and I'm getting such blurry looking images.
    Thanks for the help.

Retina-display compatible image is just a fancy term for high resolution image. It looks blurry because of the upscaling. If you want it to look good, export it at higher resolution, for example 2048×1536px for the ipad screen size.

  • Retina Display Support For Professional Edition?

I'm happy to see that the Enterprise users will be able to take advantage of the new Retina Display of the iPad...but what about us lowly Professional Edition users? Any idea on when we'll be able to start taking advantage of the higher-res screen?

That's terrific news! I had just gotten an e-mail from a competing company that publishes iPad magazines who said they're all set up for iPad 3 so it got me thinking. I saw the news release and was a bit sad that we were overlooked. Thanks for the speedy reply, as always!

  • Retina support for Adobe AIR HTML

    Hi,
I was suprised to find there's no retina display support for Adobe AIR (3.9).
Macs with retina displays have been around for quite some time now.
This is a crucial feature as I will not be able to use my application on my retina display.
A bug report has been opened here: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3662094
    Thanks.

    Hi Jeffrey,
This is indeed an issue with the HTML control, however the StageWebView(true) control does support retina devices.  Is it possible for you to use this instead?

  • Where is the Native Windows XP USB/Display  Support?

    My Config:
    Windows XP Professional
    ASUS K8N-E, AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 2GHz, 1GB RAM
PNY NIVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT 128MB AGP (Force Ware 91.31, BIOS 5.43.02.39.51)
    Cinema HD 30" display
This is my first Apple product and it amazing good apart from the "PC Compatible" BS under the product listing.
Where is the native Windows XP USB and display support for this $2,000 display? And no, I'm not satified with a SourceForge.net project with one developer working on WinACD (all credit to his efforts, I'm a software developer too!)
Tell me the last time you bought a piece of hardware that didn't come with driver support? Is this the first and last Apple product I buy?
    -bonzo3671

I hear what you are saying but frankly that doesn't cut it - I'm an embedded sw engineer and if you are saying that a company like Apple can't take the time to create a Windows display INF file, like they did in 1997, then something is clearly not right.
    Check the file "applevdo.inf" here:
    http://mirror.apple.com/Mirrors/AppleSoftware_Updates/US/DOS-Windows/DOS_and_PC_CompatibilitySW/
They created an INF file for Windows 95.... but not for customers running "recommended" Nvidia Quatro FX's cards
running on XP and ultimately Vista?
This thread is far from over....

  • Tecra A2: WDDM / LDDM display driver for Windows Vista

I've searched on different sites for an AeroGlas compatible display driver for my Tecra A2. I'v haven't found anything on Intel or Toshiba sites. Is there a chance for such a driver??
    Thanks
    Sincerely
    Stefan

    Hi
    What is AeroGlas?
Is it a special application which is not compatible with the graphic driver?
Unfortunately, Toshiba recommend using own original graphic drivers because they are a little bit modified.
The graphic drivers support a overheating protection of the graphic cards.
If the temperature of the graphic card increases to the critical level the driver decreases the card performance.
However, if the Toshiba drivers and Intel graphic drivers doesnt work so I assume there is no much to do ;(

  • Macbook Pro support for two external displays

I keep seeing articles since yesterday stating that the new MBP retina display supports 3 external monitors and the new Macbook Air supports two (through just one ThB port?) but how come no one says anything about the new regular MBP's support? If the Air supports two isn't the regular MBP also supposed to be able to work with two external monitors?

USB video has performance limitations, but it's fine for stuff that doesn't involve fast-action video.
ah yes, sorry, the new USB 3 now supports speeds up to 5 GB/sec so it may become suitable for AV use. Actually, only ThunderBolt (and HDMI) has higher speed than the USB 3 port.
but I just found this page here at the Apple support, which states that the Air and Pro both support 2 displays and the retina MBP one more through the HDMI port, so I guess now it's official

  • IBook support for cinema displays

I have a 1.2 G4 iBook with an Nvidia Go 5200 graphics card. Does anyone know if this card will run either the 20 or 23 Apple cinema display at the recommended resolutions?

    Bruce,
You wrote: " Is there any way I can connect the iBook to an Apple Cinema Display"
Yes, but you won't be happy with the results.
    1. Your new iBook has: "Video mirroring supports VGA video out to an external display". In English, this means:
    a. Analog (not digtial) video out.
    b. The external monitor will only show (i.e., mirror) what is on your iBook screen.
    2. All LCD monitors (laptop or standalone) have a native resolution. Trying to use them at any other resolution results in a poor quality dislay. Everything is slightly fuzzy.
    a. Your iBook has: "Support for millions of colors at 1024 x 768 pixel resolution".
    b. The Apple Cinema Display (20-inch) has: "1680 x 1050 pixels (optimum resolution)".
    So, we have an incompatibility.
    3. The iBook has analog video output while the ACD has "DVI (Digital Visual Interface)".
This means you need an adapter to convert analog to digital. I could not find one in the Apple Store. But, I ma sure they exist.

  • 'Enabled support for Retina display'

I'm starting to see that some of the Apps I have installed are showing updates for 'enabled support for Retina display'. So how do Apps look on the new iPad before they get this support? Just the same as on iPad 2?!

    maclover6 wrote:
They will look noticeably clearer on the new iPad. This iPad has a retna display, so it has 3.1million pixels. There are 250 pixles per inch on the new iPad. And only 132 On iPad 2. There are also prosessor upgrades to it as well so you will notice it goes faster. They upgraded the A5 chip to the A5X chip. You will notice that it has very sharp pictures, is is because they upgraded the rear facing camera to a 5 megapixle iSight camera. So to sum up, no apps will not look the same on iPad 2 vs. the new iPad.
So why are the Apps getting specific updates to take advantage of the retina display if they look clearer on the new iPad? Am I missing something here?
The new processor is also good news. I believe it has 1GB of RAM as well, up from the iPad 2. But will the extra power go largely towards powering the new retina display? Presumably having twice the resolution must need a bit more oomph to drive it?

The bug is known, and a patch has been submitted: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80151. There's been no update since friday, so I wonder what the current status is, or if it's up for review at all.
Does anyone know how we can be notified when this patch hits the kernel?

  • Is there support yet for PC high DPI displays?  I see there is support for Apple....

Have been a user of Photoshop Elements for many years.  Presently have version 12, which is unusable on my Dell XPS 15" with 4K Ultra HD display.  I found a statement somewhere on Adobe's site that there is support for HiDPI displays from Apple, but no mention of Windows machines.  Scaling, changing resolution, etc. doesn't help - the icons are tiny and can't be seen by my eyes without squinting or a magnifying glass.  I don't want to switch programs but will if support isn't there for displays like mine that are more common every day.....

Yes, in PSE 13 but definitely do the trial first to see if it works well for your display.
