Telephone calls shut off wireless

Hi,
I have an Airport Express and I use it with my iBook G4. The wireless works fine until I get a phone call on my house phone. As soon as someone picks it up or makes a call, the wireless shuts off. It's incredibly annoying, considering I get constant phone calls. Is there any way I can stop this from happening?
Thank you so much for your time.

If per chance your house phone is a cordless 2.4 MHz model, you can try changing wireless channels on your AirPort Express Base Station (AX) until you can find one which will work. You can also check to see if your cordless phone has the option to change channels as well.

  • Phone call shuts off streaming iTunes

I use Airport Express to stream iTunes music to other rooms of my house. I have my internet through AT&T DSL and every time someone picks up the phone or answers a call, the music stops streaming until the phone is back on the hook. Is this a normal feature of Airport Express, because it's really cool if it is. Maybe it's a feature Apple can mention.

Most likely your portable phone is operating in the same radio band (2.4 GHz) as the AirPort Express Base Station (AX). This is a known Wi-Fi interference problem, not just common to the AirPorts.
You have several options. Either operate your Wi-Fi in the 5 GHz band (assuming you have the newer 802.11n version of the AX) or replace your wireless phone system with one that either operates in the 900 MHz or the 5 GHz band and continue to use an 802.11g AX.
Actually a third (& fourth) option you can try is to relocate either the AX or the phone base station to see if this will help and/or change radio channels on either might work too.

  • DynaDock shuts off wireless network discoverability

As soon as I plug in the dynadock   on a Windows 8 Surfface,  all wireless networks disapear from the screeen, as soon as I unplug the dynadock they all show up again and you can then connect to them. If you connect to the wireless network before you plug in the dynadock the network will 99 percent of the time just show no wireless network connection, or if it stays connected it only stays connected for 45 sec to 1 minute
    Anyone have any sugestions?
    Thanks Jon

    Try updating the Dynadoc drivers

  • E3000 questions. Cisco Connect with https and turn off wireless?

My old router died this weekend after 10 years and I have been wanting to get a faster router for a while anyways.
I picked up a E3000 and set it up yesterday.
    The firmware is 1.0.03
    I have two main questions
I changed the router settings so you can only browser manage the router through https and turned off http access to the router.
Cisco Connect now doesn't work. Will Cisco Connect work with HTTPS? Do I have to do something to get it to work?
I also didn't see a version number on Cisco Connect am I just not noticing it?
I'd really like to shut off wireless on most days when I'm not home. I want the router to still be working since my desktop computers are directly connected to the router and I remote into them. Is there an easy way to shutoff the wireless and then easily turn it back on when I get home?
    thanks
    mike

Mine works the same. It's probably designed that way for the manual way of logging into the setup page of the router.
No, it seems no updates yet or see the need to have one.
No, it doesn't have that option unfortunately.

  • My wireless keeps shutting off and have to reboot to get it back on

I have a Macbook Pro 17" I never once had this happen to me before the 2nd time I had to download Lion. So I had Snow Leopard never a issue, then upgraded to Lion no issuses for MONTHS. I had a Motherboard replaced and they replaced my OS to snow leopard and i upgraded it to Lion. Then it started, once then twice then 3x with in 20 min. my wireless shut off. Then it stayed on all night no problem. I week goes by it starts up again and stops again. Then i went to the genuis bar again and they checked it out left it over night didnt happen to them at all they said so I took it home. Happened to me the first 10 minutes i had it up!!! Happened a few more times that night but then it stopped that was a month ago. Then yesterday it happened again only extremely agressive every few minutes all day and night i was re booting my laptop to get my wireless to work. So I downgraded my software to snow leopard. Well hours into it BAM nothing im all smiles and happy................................until is dropped AGAIN just a couple of minutes ago. As I look this issue up there seems to be a TON of users out there with this EXACT problem and yet not a single fix. Some get it fixed by changing something and yet it doesnt work for others its insane. We spend all this money on our Mac's and when we call or go in we are told we are nuts that there is nothing wrong with them. So please PLEASEif you have a fix share it here
    Thank you guys
    Nick

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • Why does my wireless keyboard keep shutting off?

Why does my wireless keyboard keep shutting off?
    It is not the batteries.

More experience leads me to believe the problem is with the new iMac.  If I get the network going by turning AirPort Extreme power off, then on, I see a good signal at my iMac. Experience shows the network drops off after several hours. But yesterday I turned the iMac off, and the network remainded up (I could see it on my iPhone and iPad) throughout the night.  That's the first time that has happened since I got the new iMac.  Never had this issue with the old machine. I transferred all file to the new machine from a Time Machine backup that was up-to-date.  Am working with Apple support. They had me do a re-boot of the AirPort and will call back tomorrow AM to learn it did not solve the problem, but turning off the iMac does.  Darn.

My iPhone 3Gs randomly shutting off at any given moment. I could be in the middle of a text, a call, or doing some games and it'll just shut off.
Now here's the unique part. When I go to turn it back on, the apple loading screen pops up but it takes somewhere from 3-5 minutes for it to boot up. Then the lock screen with the time and whatnot shows up. From this point on, my iPhone has a chance to shut itself back down and I have to repeat the process over and over again. Most of the time the lock screen flashes and then goes straight to black (shut down) but sometimes I can make it a few menus before it shuts itself down.
The only way to keep the iPhone on is to plug it into a charger of any sort. I'm fairly certain it isn't a battery charge issue because this happens at any % of power and sometimes my iPhone can use up all of its charge and not have this happen while other times I can be at 90-100% and it could randomly shut itself down. What can I do in this situation if some has some solution to this problem please let me know on [email protected] Thanks!

Not sure if this Term is Relevant towards an iPhone but, my iPhone won't Post unless if it's plugged into a Charger.

  • Wife's iPhone keeps shutting off randomly and does it even when on calls, restarts and has a dark line in center of the screen then the apple logo. At times it does it several times or won't power up, and the iPhone4 is only five months old. What do we do

Have an iPhone 4 that is now shutting off randomly including during calls. The iPhone is roughly about five months old. When the iPhone shuts down and tries to restart it usually take two or three times before it stays on, but when it does it sometimes has a dark line down the center and shuts off. Not very happy about the iPhone doing this. The store we had purchased the iPhone 4 from suggested that we contact Apple to see about a replacement, or send it away for service. As you can tell we are not happy at this point since the iPhone is crucial part of our day for work and family. What should we do at this point?

    Thanks for the suggestions!
Except I tried all those before I even made this topic lol, but thanks!
I Already popped out the Sim Card & let my phone sit without it for a few minutes then put it back in. Sometimes it will work again & it will say it recognizes the SIM Card but more times then not it still says it cant recognize it! So I have to take it out & reinsert it multiple times.
& I have done a complete restore 2 times & a back up restore 3 times. Nothing seems to be working.
I am planning on going to the Apple Store this week, wish me luck!
But keep the suggestions coming if you have any, I'd appreciate it!

  • I can only make outgoing calls. My home button is only working for voice control and won't take me back to menu. I am only in the calling screen and can't even shut off. What do I do?

I am freaking out! I am a college student and owner of my Iphone 3Gs. I just got it this past August and I don't understand what is wrong. I did not drop it or come into contact with any water or disabling substance. I am literally stuck on the calling page with favorites, recents, contacts, keypad and voicemail. When I push my Home button I am not brought back to my menu. When I hold it down voice control is enabled but I still can't get to my menu. Then when I try to hold the sleep button to shut off nothing happens. What's wrong with my phone? I can't even go into contacts and hit text message nothing happens. Also, when I get a message in nothing happens when I push view. Please help me.

Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • Shutting off whenever a phone call comes through.

A couple months ago, I had water damage on my iPhone 4S.  It stopped working for about a month, and my IT husband brought home the little screw drivers for the bottom of the phone, and I unscrewed it and saw there was still some water in the phone, after messing with it and letting it sit in rice for 2 days, my phone has been working ever since!  The only thing that has been happening is my battery life will say 35% and then all of a sudden I'll get a notification saying that I'm on 10% of battery life (and that's without even using my phone for an hour) and when I would plug it in, it would go back to 35%. I can handle that, but the only thing that bothers me is that my phone will abrubtly shut off when someone is calling me and this JUST started happening yesterday.  Should I reset my phone and then restore it back to my settings?

I have reset it at least 4 times already and it will work for maybe a day or two, then just shut off again while a phone call is coming in and today it started shutting off while I use the camera, or when I get a notification through Facebook and in order for this not to happen, I have to have it charging.  I don't want to charge my phone all day in order to use it.

  • My iphone was working fine this morning after I did the iOS 7.3 update but I just took a call and now it's completely shut off and won't turn back on. Coincidence?

My boyfriend and I both have iphone4's and we both did the 7.3 update this morning.  My phone is still working properly but his just shut off after he'd taken a call and now he can't get it to turn back on.  Coincidence?  He's not dropped it or gotten it wet and he literally had just hung up from talking to me when it stopped working.
    Anyone else having issues?  Thoughts?
    Thanks!

NO, but he can try a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

  • 8110 shutting off, dropping calls, restarting with "media card removed" error message

we have a brand new AT&T red pearl 8110, OS v4.5. We have not loaded any applications on the phone, and we do not have a media card installed. Several times now the phone just shuts off, then restarts itself. this even happens during the middle of a phone call. It is my wifes phone so i cannot give any more specifics, but she says she has noted now that it says something like "media card removed" right before it shuts off, then the white screen comes with the hourglass of death, then it verifies security settings and is back to "normal". Any ideas? I am within the 30 day window ot return, but figure this must be a fixable problem (or am hoping so). Thanks!

My BB pearl started by doing the same thing. For the past month or so it has randomly been doing this. Today it has been shutting down then rebooting and 10 seconds after it reboots it does it again. I had to call T mobile and they are sending out a replacement. I cant even retrieve my contacts.

  • Phone keeps  shutting off in middle of call

I phone 4s keeps shutting off in middle of call, sometimes it won't even let me click on name to call #

It sounds like it could be a couple of things causing the issue, try backing up your iPhone via iTunes and restoring the software to eliminate any possible software issues. Don't put you backed up information back on to the phone untill youve had a chance to test it for a few days. If its working properly restore your information, if not book it in for repair.
For more information on repair options use http://www.apple.com/support/service/ and select your product and country.

  • HP Pre 3 shutting off while making a phone call, even after doctoring.

When I make a phone call and get the phone to my ear instantly (so sensor shuts off the screen) 1 in 8 phone calls my phone would just cut off and shut off. Then I have to hold the power button and switch the mute three times to bring it back to life.
If I make a phone call and let the phone stand in my hand for like 5 seconds before i bring it to my ear it will work just fine.
I also noticed that screen doesn't instantly turns on after I get it away from my ear, sometimes it dimms up really slowly. These occasions are rare but they are still there.
Finally I doctored it (mainly because Skype started to sign me out after 15-20 minutes while on WiFi) and problem is still there.
This problem occured first like few weeks after I got the phone (which is like four months ago) and its been there ever since.

I'm not sure what all that means, or what the marks of a good, planned restart are, but it's a place to begin. Now all I have to do is wait for an unscheduled restart. Hmm, maybe I ought to trigger a luna restart, and see what that looks like in messages, as I don't know whether the unplanned stuff is a full or luna restart.
