Add a "Tell a Friend" button to an iWeb page?

When you create a .mac web gallery page on the top toolbar there is a button to "tell a friend" with an envelope icon. Clicking the button brings up a window that allows you to enter your name and the email address of the person you want to share the page with.
Is it possible to add this same button or at least functionality to an iWeb page?
I know you can copy the link and email it, but I'm thinking more about family that doesn't know how to do stuff like that and that button would be very helpful for them to share our page.

Galleries Tell a friend

When using Galleries Tell a Friend feature, Is there any way to change who the email is from?
When the email arrives from .Mac Web Galleries, My family and friends email app. sorts it out as junk mail. And or they delete it as if it were spam.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you using Mail and a .Mac mail account. When I send a gallery email the From is my primary .Mac email account. Since there's a png image file in the email maybe that's why the email is being targeted as spam.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Tell a friend MobileMe gallery not working in Aperture 3

I am trying to share my gallery photos - tell a friend is not working this week - it has worked fine for the past 3 years - what's up?

is that the same for all your galleries, or only one particular gallery?
Do your galleries sync o.k. with Mobile Me? Do you see the sync sign below?
Try, if you can "Tell a friend" from the "Web Interface" - click the MobileMe button and select "Visit ...", from your gallery it is also possible to invite people to view. If that also does not work, something probably is wrong with your Mobile Me settings in the System Preferences.
If the web interface works, but not the Aperture interface,check the Aperture Preferences -> Web.
It should show your account as enabled.

ITunes & App Store in Mac show old e-mail when using "Tell a Friend"

Hi,
I have changed my e-mail address on my Apple Account a while ago. All seems to work and when i go to manage the account it shows my current e-mail.
But when i use "Tell a Friend" feature in the iTunes Store and in the App Sore in Mac is shows my old e-mail. Where can i update this please?

Quick summary:
Under parental controls, disable the app store option but enable the iTunes U option. Click okay. Wait for iTunes to load iTunes U. Once that's done, go back to parental controls and enable the app store option and voila! problem solved. Strange but true. =)

Are you also using the same Apple ID for FaceTime, as listed under Settings > FaceTime?
If so, don't. While it's perfectly okay to share an Apple ID for iTunes & App Store, you shouldn't share an Apple ID with another person for the following:
iCloud
FaceTime
Messages
Use a unique personal Apple ID. Whoever is the actual owner of the current Apple ID needs to keep using that. The other person needs to make their own Apple ID, and use that for iCloud, FaceTime & Messages. Maybe even Game Center to be on the safe side.

"Tell a Friend" email from MobileMe album - no images or formatting

When I use "tell a friend" from a MobileMe album, it usually calls up "mail" with fancy body text with images of the key album photo with links and a nice layout.
Now, when I use it, it just comes up with plain text as the email message. I don't know why or how I can change it back to the way it used to be.
I've tried rebuilding the iPhoto library using the cmd+option launch and checking the last three boxes. Anything else I have missed out? I'm not using any email encryption software as well. Just Apple "mail".

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Is your Mail preferences set for RTF formatting or just plain text? That might be the reason. Set it to RTF if it's not that already. Other than that try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, reboot and try again.

A3 "tell a friend" email incorrectly states the password is PASSWORD

Hi All
I recently did a playgroup shoot and created individual password protected galleries for each child. However when I click on "tell a friend" the email shows the correct username but states the password is PASSWORD. I can login to the galleries using the username and password set in A3 but would like to use the "tell a friend" email to send to the clients.
I know this was working correctly a couple of days ago, but checking previous galleries - same problem.
Anyone have any idea's ?

Yes I created the mobileme galleries in A3, set a username and password for the galleries. Then when I select the "tell a friend" button it creates a mail message with a thumbnail of an image and user login details.
The username in the email is correct but the password is PASSWORD instead of the actual password that I have assigned to the mobileme gallery.

IPhoto '09 MobileMe gallery "tell a friend" email not displaying password

It used to be when I clicked on the iPhoto MobileMe Gallery "Tell a Friend" button an email would open and have the username and password.
Now, it shows the username, but the password isn't displaying. Instead it reads PASSWORD.
What happened to make it do this?
How is a friend supposed to know the password if it doesn't display.

Could be a damaged database file in the library. Backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.

Sending "tell a Friend" in Mobile me?????

I'm able to compose the email to "tell a friend" and able to click send, but I get the rainbow wheel and eventually get an alert that tells me "unable to send email, try again later"
am I the only one that has this problem?

BCC with Tell a Friend?

When I want to "tell a friend" about a MobileMe Gallery in iPhoto 11 I click on the info button, then click the "tell a friend" button. It only shows the To: field and not a BCC: field.
How can I use the BCC: Feature with "tell a friend?"

You can't. The iPhoto tell a friend doesn't use the Mail application to send emails. It uses it's own built in client for your MMe email account. Send a feature request to Apple via via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

Tell a friend won't accept characters

I type in the characters at the botom of the dropdown and they don't get accepted but instead show new characters that don't get accepted ad infinitum.
What can I be doing wrong?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You are using the Tell a Friend button that is available when you click on a MobileMe gallery, right? That opens the Mail application for sending the notification. Where is the garbled text being displayed? Can you describe the process step by step?

I cant help but notice that AL hasnt really got out to the mass's yet and this is a shame.. so if you like AL tell your friends, family, dog, imaginary friend etc etc.. help get the word out!

Very well written, jymbo. Perhaps you should be the one writing a description of Arch for the About page. I didn't quite do it justice.
And thank you for understanding where I was coming from when I created Arch Linux. The goal was/is take all the good concepts from other distros (and BSDs -- ABS borrows most of its magic from the FreeBSD ports system) and package them together in one nice tidy distribution, with spots of our own unique innovations. Secondarily, I do not want to over-complicate Arch. We've all seen where that path goes, and it can get ugly.
I also work as a sysadmin/programmer, and I can honestly say that administrating an Arch Linux box is far easier than the plethora of RedHat boxes that I must take care of... In the company I work for, we now run Arch Linux exclusively on our in-house servers, and it's a breeze to manage. Other production servers of ours still need to run RH for other reasons, and they take 2-3 times as long to perform the same given functions (updating to patch vulnerabilities, configuring, installing).
But Arch still needs to prove itself to the general public, and more than anything else, that takes time. Myself, I don't really care too much if people slag Arch or disagree with my views (everyone is entitled to their own, after all). All I know is that my boxes run smoother than ever, so the mission was a success.

Tell a friend about a web page

I need to set up a link that lets a vistor send a tell a friend email from any given page within the site. Not neccessarrily through a module. Normally I would use a pop-up form and cgi script. What can I use in BC? (Other than just a "mailto" link)

As a note to be clear, that is currently the only way to add refer-a-friend, through a web form. The custom refer a friend form has been removed (existing forms will still work). Due to varius issues with its form process aspx as it lacked key elements the web form aspx as to prevent things like spam.

I'd prefer advice of one that also allows for senders to forward a message.
Also if anyone knows a code that forces text boxes to loose the edge, so that they become more smothe, please notify me also.

"Tell a Friend" Button (Bookmark or Social Network Button)

I'm trying to add a popular social network button called "Tell A Friend". When I add the html snippet to my website it doesn't work. The URL that gets passed to to the pop up box is completely wrong. I believe it references the iFrame, but I'm not sure.
I've been to several websites that claim the solution is to add a text box then the html to the text box (via find/replace) but this doesn't work.
Does anyone know the solution to this problem?
Any suggestions would be super appreciated.

If the code for the button is a JavaScript, then iFrames (HTML snippet) is not the place to put it.
To have the button on your page :
1. create a Text box that is 2 pixels bigger than the actual button,
2. position the text box where you want the button to appear,
3. in this text box type something like AAAA,
4. publish to MobileMe,
5. mount iDisk in the finder,
6. this depends on the button code :
6.1 if the code is specific to 1 page : do it by hand...
6.2 if the code is valid for several pages : use TextWrangler http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/
7. search the HTML file for AAAA
8. replace AAAA with the button code
9. save
10. eject iDisk
