Tell Apple we want separate a "Rental New Releases" section! (link)

I strongly encourage anyone who utilizes the AppleTV primarily for rental purposes to send Apple a message telling them they really need to create a "Rental New Releases" heading under the "Top Movies" section.
They needed this badly prior to intermixing "purchase only" title with the rentals, but now it's an absolute necessity.
This would not require a software update, it's simply a category they would create similar to the Top Purchases category that recently showed up.

Your whole story ***** and I am sorry for you. However, this is what I do when that sort of thing happens. Apparently your MacBook is old if it has a Core Duo (not a Core2Duo for Lion).
The easiest solution would have been to just buy a new one, and have the old one repaired at leisure. That's what a professional would do. Then, once your old one is repaired, it is a back up machine for future fiascos. Also, buy APPLECARE. It's worth it's wieght in gold. Once, I brought an iMac in for repair for the same issue a second time and their solution was to just hand me a brand new iMac, two models newer than the broken one.
When my wife was working on her master's thesis, her iMac died. Just died. No startup nothing, no screens. Just dead. It was 8 pm. her Thesis was due in 5 days. We rushed to the Apple store and simply bought a new iMac. Then the next day, I brought her old one for repair. It took a week, but was fixed--after the thesis was due. But it wasn't a point of stress for us because her thesis was on Time Machine backup and on her new iMac, and turned in.
So although your situtation is insane and I totaly feel for you, you have to operate under the assumption that EVERYONE IS A MORON, and cover your own butt (maybe it's just the Gen-Xer in me). I assume situations like yours will happen everywhere. The Apple Store, the Crocs Store, Cold Stone Creamery, the driver's license place, ... customer support will always be like your experience. If you think that it doesn't happen everywhere, just go buy a Dell--I've used their support as well. only they mailed me a bluetooth chip and had me install it myself...omg.

New Releases Section is the same for the last year

As the title says the "New Releases Section" in the "Browse" all the platforms (desktop, android, web and iOS) is absolutely the same for the last year. It is never updated but why as I can clearly see my album notifications from artists I follow? Is this section a "sponsored" artists only secrion, whats the deal here? Here is a screenshot of how the section looks today 30.4.2015, notice that Rammstein which added their music almost and year ago is still occuping most of the space.

Are you serious that I need to create a new account to fix this, this is unacceptable. I WILL NOT leave my entire music library and my premium subscription history in order to fix a clear bug in your system, I am better of leaving Spotify all together. Please escalate this issue to your managers as it is again UNACEPTABLE to require me to create a new account to resolve a clear bug in your system, what is next if this gets stuck again down the road in 3 months will you ask me to create new account again, till what end. I am shocked at this. I have not idea what is happening at Spotify quarters but the last 5 months have been a pure pain, starting with the 10 000 limit of Your Music, than the 1.0 desktop version disaster and now this absurd "solution". I have been a loyal paying customer for over and year and now I feel like I wasted this time supporting a company that was not worth it. Edit: If such an issue cannot be resolve by Spotify and the only solution is to create a new account I can't even imagine what "spaghetti code" is the core implementation of their service.

Two Computers, One Apple ID, Want Separate My Stations in Podcasts

My wife and I share an Apple ID. We did this so when either of us buys an app it was obvious that we could put it on either of our devices. We have separate computers and each maintain our our list of podcasts that we listen to. I recently upgraded to iTunes 11.1 and now our two computers seem to share the same list of podcasts. We can keep individual episodes separate on the two computers but we seem to need have the same list of podcasts with the same subscription status on the two computers.

Found the problem - need to uncheck "Sync podcast subscriptions and settings" in Store Preferences. Now if only Apple would implement Hide Podcasts in Cloud in the list view.

did you used to have the same icloud? if you did you each have to redo your contacts. have you made sure your devices don't have anything signed in with his icloud and vice versa?

I am looking for R.A.Salvatore's latest book, "The Companion" but can not find it. Does the Apple bookstore NOT carry all the new releases?

Apple can only sell in a particular country what the book publishers grant them licenses to sell - if the publisher of that book hasn't done so, then Apple can't sell it.
Depending upon what country that are in, and therefore what apps and stores that you have access to (most ebooks have DRM which tie them to the store's own app), then you could try Amazon/Kindle, Nook, or Kobo etc and see if they have it

Browse New Releases by Week

I saw an idea posted to have New Releases sorted by Genre, which is greatly needed, but also needed is the ability to sort new releases by WEEK, or at least view up to last month's batch of new releases by week. A great example of what it should mirror, would be the 'Playlists.net' APP which does a better job of listing New Releases than Spotify does, and it does by week. Currently I bypass Spotify's own 'New Releases' section altogether and I'm having to go through the 'Playelists.net' APP, or outside (i.e. Rdio) for a better listing of New Releases by week. Thanks!

Go to Settings > iCloud > Delete Account, and enter your Apple ID password. Then sign in with the new ID.
NOTE: "Delete Account" just means it will be deleted from the iPad. The account itself will not be deleted.

In order to have a separate 5GB of storage he would need to have his own iCloud account with a separate ID. You can still share the same ID for iTunes; it does not need to be the same as the ID used for iCloud.
In order to migrate his phone to a separate account, begin by saving any photo stream photos that he wants to keep on his phone to the camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos he wants to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud on his phone, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. Other devices still using the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, choose Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to his new account.
Finally, if there is any merged data in the accounts you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want from each account.

Well... it's not actually an iTunes or even an Apple question is it? But you can use either Shazam or Soundhound.
If you do a search for both of them, you will find the various options available to you, which include apps for portable devices and in the case of Shazam, a work-round that allows you to use an online option using your computer's microphone on either a PC or Mac.
There may be other services as well, but I know these two.

In case you're not clear - iPad/iPhone storage, and iCloud storage, are totally separate. Buying more iCloud storage does not give you more storage space on your device. Your device has a fixed storage space for apps and data (e.g., 16GB - which is more like 12GB in real terms). iCloud storage just allows you to store more documents, mail, photos, etc, in the cloud.

How to tell Apple to stop harrasing users to update to the new iWork

I am reposting my reply in one of the discussions on iWork here as a new thread, hoping to get more direct help with my renewed concerns about iWork update.
We all have our own field of profession, our own workload and deadlines to meet.... I don't think it's ethical for Apple to dump that responsibility to users.
It's Apple's responsibility to make sure their updates don't leave out the features that users of the old version had invested their precious time / money in -- especially if Apple relentlessly pushes users to upgrade
It's been **** ever since my upgrade to new iWork. Long story short, I was back to iwork 9, after many trips to apple store, many hours reading and trying out various suggestions from forum discussion, and much headaches and loss of productivity....
After all that, you think Apple would leave you alone? No. Last week, I could not open my files that I need for my work beause an automatic update was running for me DESPITE the fact that a genious bar guy helped to make sure No AUTOMATIC UPDATE is selected in my system preference.
Now, I am back again with iWork 09, I want to keep it that way until Apple comes up with a sensible/responsible iWork update ...
But I am worried that the new version will be back on me, causing disruption again ... because I still see everyday Apple's notification urging me to update.
Please help me find out: How to tell Apple to stop harrasing users to update to their new iWork ?
How to hold Apple accountable ?

Thank you for your response. I know what you meant, and don't disagree with most of you said. Just wanted to avoid sending conflicting info to Razor06, I thought I'd make the following kind of counter points:
I am doing fine with my old Pages now, but not after frustrating weeks caught in between the 2 versions of Pages... In my experience, when both versions of Pages were running in my hard drive, the New version overtook the task every time... I could not get out of the trap until after I moved the New version to an external drive.
I used the word 'corrupted' facetiously to refer to the files that were opened by the New version
You were right: no need to re-save the old files that are not touched by the new version.... I said the same thing, but perhaps not as clearly ...
Apple does send me update notifications from time to time, because I only turned off the Auto Update. I did not turn off the Auto Check because I thought I still need it.

It's do-able, but I don't think it's a great idea.
DVI
Some users with DVI have managed to get their TV's to work with DVI-HDMI cables. DVI carries no audio, so alternative connections need to be explored to enable audio. DVI doesn't necessarily support HDCP as well as other standards used by HDMI (which may or may not be an issue)
Analogue
There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p (Apple TV 2), 720p/1080p (Apple TV 3)
DAC
