Tell me I'm doing something wrong, please!

At home I have broadband connectivity with another well known company and I have a number of devices connected wirelessly to the internet. The devices are all over my 3 storey home, the wireless router is on the ground floor. I've had this setup working without an issue, generally speaking. No ISP is perfect but I can say that I rarely have issues with the wireless itself, if anything it'll be the internet connection. So I think I have some knowledge about what I'm doing and what kind of connectivity to expect. My home is in the East Midlands.
Now I've been staying at my folks home for the last 2 months and about 6 weeks ago they switched to BT Infinity to up their internet speed and modernise their package, as they were using an old BT ADSL product. My folks live in north London and for months on the tv we've been seeing the ad about no or less wireless dropouts, best wireless router blah blah blah etc etc. Generally, internet connectivity is what I'd expect from a non-fibre cable ISP (although it's possible that our leg of the network is indeed fibre now) - but that's not the issue that we constantly have. So the hub is on the top floor of a two storey house and at the front of the property. My bedroom is around 45 -50 feet away with only two doors in between but mostly corridor. For the life of me I cannot get a regular wireless connection when I'm using my Blackberry. As I have an older Netgear wireless router I tested using that and I had no connection issues to the internet. The router was running on channel 13 so logic dictated that maybe I should change BT Hub to channel 13. This seemed to work for about a day or so, but still have bad wireless connectivity - changed BT hub back to the default of 6, it seemed to work for a while, but still nowhere near consistent connectivity, and moreover becausehub cnnectivity takes precedence over mobile network I can't get onto the internet at all from my Blackberry most of the time. ?This is even an issue when I'm sat in the same room as the BT Hub.
Any ideas on how I can improve the situation? Do you think this is a problem with the BT Hub?

Channel 13 is not supported on some devices.

I know, I always do that but I was in a rush to get somewhere and I was relying on my thousand dollar Mac to do some kind of recovery or something. I know Microsoft always keeps temporary files (I think Mac does too, part of me asking here in this forum was for someone to tell me where I can find those files) and when you go to open Office Works then it gives you the option of opening the last recent documents, saved or not saved.
I usually copy paste into my emial just in case something goes wrong with the created document but I just didn't have the time to login and do all that My loss, you live and you learn, BUT still if ANYONE got any info on this, PLEASE DO CHIME IN *keeping the hope alive*

Occasionally ill try downloading an App through my Macbook Pro 13.5 & it directs me to iTunes to be downloaded. So, I go to iTunes and download the App I need. For instance, Amazon. I go into 'My Apps' in iTunes and try clicking on one of my DL Apps, but nothing happens. Why can't I access the Apps, which I downloaded through iTunes.?I believe I'm doing something wrong and not that the issue is iTunes itself. I have OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. I am due for an upgrade from that software and also an upgrade for iTunes as well, but that shouldn't be the problem. I've tried everything on my end to troubleshoot. I don't really have the time during the day to call in and troubleshoot, so thats why I'm asking the community. Please help with this problem if anyone can. Thank You!

Once you download an iOS app, you cannot run that app from the computer. That can only be run from an iOS device. You cannot download Mac Apps from the iTunes App Store, those are downloaded from the Mac App Store. Two different places. If you want a Mac app that will run on your Mac, you need to download that from the Mac App Store. iTunes App Store only has iOS apps that work on iOS devices, iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

iCloud does not provide website hosting. You will need to find another website hosting service - there are many to choose from - and upload your site there. How you do this depends on what version of iWeb you have.
In order to upload your existing site in iWeb '09 and above:
Click on the name of the site in the sidebar: the publishing settings pane will open. Set 'Publish to' to 'FTP'. Enter the name of the site and a contact address (if desired).
In the 'FTP Server Settings' section you will need to know the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. Your site will be published in a folder with its name at root level of the server, with an index.html file at root level (which will overwrite any index.html file which may be there already). The 'Directory/Path' field may need to include a path such as '/webspace/' or 'ht_docs/' - this is dependent on your hosting service and they should tell you this. If you want to publish within a folder you can add that to the path.
You can then click the 'Test connection' button so that iWeb can check that it can get access to your server space. You should enter the URL of the site in the 'URL' field so that rss feeds and internal links have the correct address.
To publish using an earlier version of iWeb:
From the File menu choose 'Publish to a folder'. You should create a folder somewhere convenient specifically for this and choose it when publishing to a folder: this folder should not contain anything else.
You now need an FTP program (FTP is the 'protocol' used for uploading) to upload the contents of the folder to your server.Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. You can drag the contents of your folder to your webspace, or create a folder there and drag the contents to that if you prefer.

GPS Navigation App that doesn't suck?? Or am I doing something wrong?

I started off with a droid 2 before I got my iphone 4. The droid 2 gps was phenomenal, I had no problems with it. Then I got an iphone which I assumed was going to be just as good if not better than the droid's gps. Boy was I wrong! The "Maps" app that came with the iphone did not re-route itself EVER when I was in a big city and I ened up getting lost.
So one of my friends downloaded the "Waze" app, which is ok. I mean it does work it's still not the greatest. My issue with that one is that it doesn't say "take next right exit 172B" it just says, "turn right here."
Now it's very possible that *I* am the one doing something wrong, I tried going through the settings but I still couldn't figure it out. Can someone please help me?

The store category "Navigation" has a ton more than 10 apps in it, but they are geared toward a great many different things - from geocaching, to hiking, sailing, driving, orienteering, finding your parked car,....
If you want to search, you need to search for something more specific, like "road navigation" or "street navigation"
I know in there you should find Garmin, TomTom, MotionXGPS Drive, Verizons nav app (requires a subscrition added to your plan), AT&T Navigation app (also, needs service added to plan), and several others.

Have you tried turning off automatic transitions ? Choose file - project properties and follow the dialogue box to change duration with a slider. iMovie also doesn't allow a transition to be more than 50% duration of the clip its attached to. In other words if the clip is 4 seconds the transition cannot be more than 2 seconds and remember that relates to the first clip as the following clip (right side) is pulled back to overlay it.

Presets - am I doing something wrong?

Wonder if someone can quickly tell me what I'm doing wrong here.
I'm trying to add a preset which I can drop onto other clips quickly and easily.
I take a clip and apply the effect I want to it. I then choose that effect in the Effects Control Window and try and "Save Preset" but it is greyed out. Am I missing an obvious step here?????

Hi Tom - thanks for your reply - however, I think you've just verified that it simply isn't working for me as that is exactly what I have done. I noticed it was greyed out and thought I would do all the changes in the Effects Control panel itself but even when I create it from scratch in there or change an already created effect then it still stays greyed out for me. It is the Time Remapping I'm trying to do here as well.
The problem with the Copy and Paste attribute is that doesn't work properly either!!!! I've created a 50% speed remap - but when I copy it and paste attribute - although it says it's 50% it clearly isn't and sometimes is only about 10% longer than the original clip. It appears to be another bug in the software although I was hoping I was doing something wrong!!

Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

Let me tell you this: don't worry about it.
No one is able to tell very easily if the video is in 24 or 30 fps. You can only see the difference between, like, 14 and 24 fps. Just dismiss it and move on. It's all fine.
(the only time that I personally need to make sure my camera is shooting at it's highest fps, is when I will be putting the vidoe into slow motion.)

Unfortunately, photo stream on a PC is iffy at best. Many people have problems getting it to work properly, including myself. A work around would be to use an app like PhotoSync on your PC, which can send photos wirelessly to the camera roll on any of your iOS devices on the same wifi network. Once in the camera roll, you iOS device will be added to your photo stream.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?
