Tell me please why? Safari it so much memory!

Hello.
Tell me please why? Safari it so much memory!
I have opened only one page.
And problem with google search. Some time when I write text Safari is lags and crashes!
I had cleaned cookie and history!
Thank you!
OS X 10.8.4
Safari 6.0.5
Best regards!

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.

I want to ask something about firefox.
why firefox use very much memory?
can you develop to reduce memory comsume?
this problem is very distrub in my PC with low memory.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

How much memory is Firefox using right now?
    # Press '''CTRL+SHIFT+ESC''' to load the Task Manager window
    # Click the Processes tab at the top. (Click once near the top of the window if you don't see tab
    # Find firefox.exe, and see how many kilobytes of memory it's using.
Showing around 80MB when Firefox first starts is normal. Right now, I have 75 tabs open and it's using 500MB - this varies a lot depending on what you have in the tabs.
Other than high memory usage, what other problems are you experiencing? (Examples include slowness, high CPU usage, and failure to load certain sites)
Many of these issues, including high memory usage, can be caused by misbehaving add-ons. To see if this is the case, try the steps at [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]. Outdated plugins are another cause of this issue - you can check for this at http://www.mozilla.com/plugincheck

  • Why does Safari use so much memory?

Below is a screenshot of the "Safari Web Content" process using 2.57GB of ram!  When I took a screenshot yesterday at 1.7GB I thought that was a lot!
It seems Safari will use as much ram as can be thrown at it.  I had a lot of windows and tabs open, but really doubt I had more than a few hundred megs of content loaded in those windows and tabs, never mind 2.6GB!
My experience with Macs and OS X would pretty much be perfect if it weren't for Safari.  It brings my system down to a slow grind because the virtual memory/swap is always thrashing so badly.
Apple goes on about the "magical" performance updates they make to Safari - well guess what?  They mean nothing when Safari has all your ram tied up and the swap file is thrashing like crazy.

Glad it's better now, Doc.  I'm still wondering if you empty your Safari cache regularly.
I use GlimmerBlocker, and love it.  From what I've read here, it's less problematic than ABP, and it's built so it doesn't get out of date, with an OS/Safari upgrade.  Just a thought for ya.

  • Tell me please why after installing windows 8, lost partition recovery 10.9

You can reinstall 10.9 again.  It should keep all your files and not touch your Windows partition.  This will make the recovery parttion once again.

  • Safari taking too much memory

    Hello there,
I've noticed lately that Safari (red) has three processes that take most of my memory, along with the horrible McAffe Anti-virus (blue) that my job requires... is this normal? Is there any way to reduce this?
    thanks. Activity Monitor attached.

There isn't much you can, or should, do about it. Safari caches everything in case you go back to a page or image. The operating system also manages the virtual memory and will take what it needs. If you are experiencing any undesireable side effects, they are likely due more to the antivirus than the memory.
But look at the bright side - you won't be accidentally e-mailing viruses to any Windows users

    1) What version of Oracle you running on 7.5 release of linux?
2)How did you come to the conclusion that because of this, your update is slow?

  • Safari 5 - A Big Memory Hog

Safari 5 hogs memory up to a point where it slows down the whole system and provokes freezes by the dozen -- on my system with 4 GB of RAM no other software is as often "unresponsive" as Safari.
Safari's memory usage starts with about 150 MB real memory (plus the same amount in virtual memory) and after some browsing gobbles up to 1 GB (Firefox and Chrome never exceed 120 MB). Then all other open programs as well as the Finder slow down to a crawl.
I haven't installed any plugins or extensions other than those loaded with the standard Safari installation. I use ClickToFlash to avoid Flash content. And I also go regularly through all the motions like permission repair, cache emptying (which I do several times a day), Onxy etc.
The only remedy currently is optimizing the memory with the iFreeMemory utility (recommended!!!).
I'm amazed that nothing has been done in to solve this problem in Safari 5 although this is a known issue since Safari 4.

I experience this memory problem too, but since a few days only. I never registered Safari using that much memory before, however it managed to fill my whole 4 GB of RAM several times in the past days.
I tried to apply the classic advice you get in online forums, like permission repair and cache emptying, but these measures could only delay the problem. Deactivating the extensions "adblock" and WOT didn't help.
Moreover, I originally bought a mac in order to not need to do such work anymore...^^.
Is there any further advice available on this subject, else than getting back to using firefox (I really like the speed and appearance of safari)?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Why is Chrome so much faster than Safari?

I'm an Apple and Safari lover, but love goes only so far. I have tried everything with Safari in Yosemite, but it's really in a sad state when it won't even open my Google account page, or my own website. Sadly, I have found so many pages that either load so slowly that I give up, or don't open at all in Safari, yet Chrome always works, and fast. In fact, Firefox and Opera, both of which I have never used regularly are much better than Safari right now.
Does anyone have a clue as to why Safari has turned into such a poor browser in Yosemite? But please don't suggest I go to safe mode. I only want a decent browser, which I would prefer was Safari and not Chrome, but I do not want to deconstruct or rebuild my Macbook Air OS installation.

Funny. I'm finding exactly the opposite to be true. I've used Chrome since it came out, and it used to be far superior to Safari. Lately I find it to be very buggy--lots of jittery, time consuming page loads and crashes. Frustrated, I imported all of my stuff to Safari where loading times, scrolling, and navigation are like butter. No crashes and no loading issues on my MB Pro. So far so good.
I do wonder if it has something to do with the "baggage" I developed on Chrome over the years. I kept things pretty tidy--purging history, cookies, etc-- but it still just kept getting worse.
I guess Firefox is an option, but one thing is certain: I will not be returning to IE ****.

  • Why Safari takes much long time than other browser to open a page?

  • Why does Safari eat up so much memory?

    Hi,
I've finally had it with Safari and have switched to Camino.  I'd like to know why Safari eats up so much memory.  Things will be going slow, I'll get the rainbow swirl and I'll open the activity monitor and see that Safari has two different process names going on, on of which is eating 2GB +.  Just to compare, I'll open the same windows in Camino and I'll get a maximum usage of 300 MB.
The issue only got worse after the last update.
    Thank you,
    steven

Hi, sorry I didn't reply sooner.  For some reason, this post doesn't come up when I look in "my discussions" at the top.
Currenly I have a 1TB HD with 700 GB used, I have 9 TB external HD (1TB for Time Machine, the rest for storage) that's only half full.  And yes, I use video editing software extensivly and Pages as well.  I'll often surf while writing to research and I have programs like Outlook running in the background.  The one thing which has become a problem is playing Flash (like streaming The Daily Show), which becomes choppy and slows down Safari to a crawl.  I thought it was my Internet connection but I have 10mps, super fast.
@ Johm, about page outs, here's the data
    Page Ins 7.05
    Page outs 57.3
    Swap Used 51.3
    VM size 183
I'm guessing I should purchase some memory based on these numbers.  Memory isn't as cheep in Japan as it is in the states, at least not for Mac.  Does anyone have a suggestion for a brand I should look out for or any stats that will help me decide which type to purchase or how much?
    Thank you much,
    Steven

  • Help me please, I need to know why imovie videos use so much memory

There have been a lot of firsts for me this year. First time owning a laptop, first time owning a mac, and first time uploading videos to youtube. I got my macbook in april and it's my pride and joy. However, I'm having a huge problem with it.
I don't understand why the videos I make on imovie use up so much memory!! Now that I have an hd video camera it's even worse. First of all, I can't import my videos because there isn't enough space. Second of all, the videos I did manage to import were about 30-40 minutes total and are using up about 22GB! I thought my events, (which usually range from 20-50 minutes) were bad enough as they can be 1-2GB
    Here is my question:
Why do the videos take up so much space and can I change that?
any information would be very appreciated, I've spent hours scouring the web looking for answers and could not find anything. Thanks again!

    sofia castello-branco wrote:

They contain lots of data. You can reduce the resolution, frame rate, or length on movies to reduce their final size, but that won't help you much at import or while you are working with them.
