Telnet client for Palm VIIx that uses IR port

Hi folks
I know the IRda port on my Windows XP-equipped IBM ThinkPad can support TCP/IP connections via PPP (I've gotten those up and running before between two laptops, even if the connection died seconds later for unknown reasons).
I know there's telnet clients out there for older Palms like my nifty VIIx, but before I pony up the shareware fee I'd like to know which ones support IR connections, or whether they all need to go thru a modem. (Or maybe directly via the Hotsync cradle into the DB9 port of the telnet host? But then why would you be telnetting into said host...)

No.
Your IR port cannot be used for syncing. The closest thing is to go out and purchase an external one.
Keep in mind that the IR connectivity can be painfully slow... you're really better off using the cable.

I couldn't find my CD

Alas, Palm Inc. no longer exists, and they stopped providing the installation disks a long time ago. :-(
What do you need from the disc? If Palm Desktop and Hotsync is all you need, these can still be downloaded from this link:

Only other source of the discs that I know of would be eBay, etc....

Need Simple telnet client for N8

Im looking for a telnet client (without SSH) for N8. I might also pay for it!
I've already tried putty (its SSH only ..sad)
I've already tried Fshell ver. 5 ...it has ping but no telnet command.
If there is any other sugestion or development underway please share.

I am using Telmu SSH/Telnet client in my n95. It is available for s60 2nd edition as well as 3rd. It is not free though, full version costs 15 EUR.

Creating a dropdown for the tabs that use JTabbedPane

Hi all,
I have an application that uses a JTabbedPane to create tabs. Currently it uses the default to scroll if there are more tabs than what can be fit on the screen. I would also like to provide a dropdown next to the scroll arrows so that the user can see all the tabs on a dropdown list and select one w/o having to scroll left and right. I've seen this done on the NetBeans IDE 4.1 and 5.0. Is this something I can leverage from the Swing API (using JDK 5), grab from some open-source library, or must code myself? Let me know how I can do this. Thanks in advance!

I understand what you are describing but am a bit puzzled on a couple of things (maybe because I just got into Swing).
My biggest question is on how to place the combo box in the tabbed pane next to the scrolling arrows. I'm looking at the JTabbedPane Javadoc and I do not see a place where one can add other components such as this combo box (other than the tabs themselves).
Another question is that the combo box will have a width the size of the longest text contained in the box. How do I remove this length and just show the dropdown arrow. When the user clicks this arrow, the combo box appears with the list of items, i.e. I want to mimic what the NetBeans IDE does.

Standard variable exist for calendar day that uses current working day

Is there any standard range Variable that exists for info-object calendar day that uses the manual entry for the lower limit and upper limit as current working day .

There are a number of standard variables 0n 0CALDAY - of processing type SAP exit, Input Allowed, Select-option or Range. You will have to check whether they give the default value of current date though as that will have to be looked up from documentation or user-exit code (or from the name of variable).
To shorten the candidate list, SE16 on table RSZGLOBV where
OBJVERS = D (Delivered version)
IOBJNM = 0CALDAY
VARTYP = 1
VARPROCTYP = 4 (SAP Exit)
VPARSEL = I, S (Range or select-option)
VARINPUT = 'X' (Ready for input)
It should give you about 6-7 variables that you can explore further. It is likely that none of these default to current date. Some of these are

I see that you are looking for current 'working' day as default. Very likely the answer is 'no' in such case.

Client / Server Socket Communication - Should use 2 ports?

If we have a client server architecture using a socket based connection, should there be 2 serperate sockets? One dedicated to sending and one dedictated to receiving? What happens if both the client and server both send at the same time? How does that get handled? Does one of the messages get dropped? Thanks...

There are of course reasons you might want to use two sockets.
For instance security. One socket is encrypted and the other isn't. Or because the server initiates a confirmed port connection back it verifies the IP.
Or because the main socket is used for control and the second one is used for data. That way the client can tell the server to pause or make other adjustments in the data while the data is still flowing.

Changing Application that uses FTP port 21

We have a Windows server that uses an OCR software that allows our printers to scan documents to our Mountain Lion server to a document management application (at least thats what we are trying to do). The problem is that the OCR software is sending it to an FTP share but will not let you specify the FTP port number. By default Mac uses port 21 and I know how to change that port to something else. I just need to know if there is a way to let another application take control of port 21?

Sure. Shut off the ftp server on the target system.
At most there can be one application listening to a particular TCP port. If you don't want that to be ftp, shut it off.
But I'd tend to doubt that'll help, here.
I'd be interested in learning a little more about how this OCR tool works and how this file transfer supposedly happens, as ftp is a paragon of insecurity and also largely incompatible with modern network security and firewalls, but this particular request for a changed-port seems quite unexpected.
The identity of the OCR software might help, as a look at the documentation would be interesting, too.

For the ones that use Muse as their main tool to build websites for clients, how do you win them over? (+bonus question)

The idea seemed nice, but I was very disappointed when I noticed it was really only text and images that you can edit. I hope this is not an actual argument when talking things over with a client, but how do you win your client over if he asks "can I edit the videos on the site? can I edit x?, etc" Which would probably then lead to "Why should I use you when I can just use a website builder like squarespace, wix, etc and actually have control over my website?" What is your response?
I REALLY want to get into Muse, and I want to be convinced! It seems like a dream for designers like myself. That, what I wrote above, is the only thing that holds me back.

Say, the answer is "it's just not possible" to change the videos, etc.. What is the alternative? A bunch of iframes with say, tumblr blogs made specifically to just hold a video? Sized specifically for it, etc.
I'd just like to build websites for clients and really end it there. Move onto the next project! Even if paid, I'm just not interested in managing websites after I build them. I wouldn't really be able to convince a client to pay me every time he wants a change too.

Is there a jabber client for windows users that's working?

hello all,
i've just deployed os x server 10.5 (standard configuration, upgraded to 10.5.3) and i have some users that are using ms windows. i can't seem to get google talk or any other windows jabber clients to successfully connect to the ichat server. i've tried to use the same server settings that i'm using when i create a new jabber account in ichat with google talk and a few others with no success. am i missing something? does anyone know of a windows jabber client that is currently working? if so, can you also share with me your findings (the settings or best practices for setting up this windows jabber client). the os x server ichat docs state several times that google talk should work. but after some research here, it looks as if it doesn't current work. any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I think Pidgin is the solution for you. It's quite easy to configure and seems quite reliable! It works well for me. I have use a portable version of it to connect from Windows XP/2000 to a 10.5.3 Server.

What is the max file limit for FTP adapter that uses FileIoInteractionSpec

I know that Oracle provided some new features in 10.1.3.4 using which we can use the file and ftp adapter to move files in a more efficient way

Essentially it involves modifying the WSDL to use the new InteractionSpec="oracle.tip.adapter.file.outbound.FileIoInteractionSpec"
Now my question is, what is the file size limit which can be transferred using this.
I have tried with 20 mb file, it works. But I want to know the upper limit.

Tried with 31 mb file.
It successfully delivers the file but....
The instance never completes successfully in the BPEL Console. If I open the audit tab, it shows the following message
