Telnet session terminating
Hi,
When i login to the server which is using Solaris 9 using telnet, something is breaking telnet sessions in our machines. For workaround, we changed the IP address and it got resolved for now.
I want to revert back to the original statics IP. But i am suspecting that the same issue can occur again. Why the telnet sessions are breaking? Can anybody help me out on this issue?
Thanks
Thanks for the information.
Some users are able to telnet as a application user and some random users are not able to telnet and they are facing this issue.
Their telnet sessions are terminating without showing any error. If the problem is with firewall or any network equipment then it wont work for anybody, but the issue was it is not working for only some of the random users. Is there any possibility of issue with DNS?can anybody help me out on this?

How do I establish a telnet session with unit under test?
I am going to the next step as a novice and moving from serial communications to ethernet on my unit under test. I have been all over the help and discussion forums etc and cannot find an answer. I need to open up a telnet session with my unit under test and keep it open to send commands back and forth for control of the unit. Can anyone give me a hint of how I am to establish this communication? I have the IP address and I am using port 23 but I just get the session started and then immediately closed. The sequence of events will be: start the session, the unit will reply with a username and then password, after that I need the session to remain open so I can send commands as if I am sitting at the serial port. When complete the session will then be terminated. Thanks in advance for any help.
If you want to do telnet using plain TCP, you need to do everything yourself, including the telnet options negotiation.
RFC 854 should have most of what you need (look towards the bottom).
Most likely, the server will propose a few options, which you should either accept or reject depending on your needs.
Easiest is probably to use a packet sniffer on a regular telnet session, then dissect the negotiation to see what that particular server wants.
RFC 990 has a list of telnet options, look for the section labeled "ASSIGNED TELNET OPTIONS".
It should be simple to write some code that negotiates with one particular host. It will be more difficult to write a full-blown telnet client that does general negotiations with any type of telnet server.
I have a small program that telnets to a router to do some configuration. The only thing I reply to the proposed options is:
"\FF\FD\03\FF\FE\01\r\n" (In \-codes). Translated: "Don't suppress go ahead, Do echo".
(FF=IAC "Interpret as command", FD=Do, FE=Don't, 01=echo, 03= suppress go ahead.)

How to recognize a telnet session (RF) from a SAPGUI?
hi guys,
i must check and block a transaction, developed for a RF terminal, if it is executed by SAPgui...
how to, in abap, recognize a telnet session (RF) from a SAPGUI ?
I have tried FM "SAPGUI_OBJECT_ID" hoping in a sy-subrc ne 0 with telnet but it's not right.
Edited by: Cacco Andrea on Apr 28, 2009 2:43 PMi resolved like this:
cl_gui_frontend_services=>get_computer_name(
changing
computer_name = zterm
exceptions
cntl_error = 1
error_no_gui = 2
not_supported_by_gui = 3
others = 4
if sy-subrc = 0. "SAPGUI
else. "telnet

SA520 seems to terminate Telnet session
Question: We recently replaced a router with Cisco SA520. The connection is only used for a Telnet application. After replacing the router we experience the problem that the Telnet session is terminated after around one minute of inactivity in a way that it does not respond to keyboard input anymore. With out old router this happend after 30 minutes.
Everythink works fine as long as the user does actively use the system.
The SA520 is configured with a static external and internal IP address. Two ports are forwarded (515,9100) from the external side (where the Telnet server resides) to an internal printer.
Does anyone have idea what is causing this problem.
Thank you
SaschaYour timeout is probabally set very low.
TRY THIS:
Router(config)#line vty 0 4
Router(config-line)#exec-timeout 30
If you still have a problem please let us know.
NOTE:
I did the timeout for 30 minutes because that it what your old setting was. -
How can I send an F5 thru a telnet session?
I have to logon to a remote machine with a telnet session. To do this manually, I have to hit F5 to bring up the login prompt after the telnet session is established. I can establish the connection with LabVIEW, but how can I send the F5?
Telnet is essentially an ASCII-only protocol. There's no "F5" in ASCII, so you're probably supposed to send some sequence of ASCII codes to make it work.
Typically, text-based telnet programs emulate various kinds of physical terminals, such as DEC's warhorse "vt52" and "vt100" terminals, or the old ADM-3A. Those terminals sometimes had special keys that could send a sequence of commands. For example, I think the vt100 had an "F5" key that sent Escape (a byte containing decimal 27) followed by the letters "Ot". (I am looking at a UNIX box with an /etc/termcap entry for a vt100, and interpreting what it says. I'm not an expert at UNIX /etc/termcap entries, so I may be misreading it.)
Anyway, you need to find out what kind of terminal this remote machine
is expecting you to use. This will tell you what string to send for an F5 key.
I hope this helps. -
Suspend reverse telnet in Terminal
Hi All,
I'm unable to suspend a reverse telnet session (e.g. from an access server to a router) with Terminal.
The character sequence is: < ctrl-shift-6> < x >
This works perfectly from the Win XP command line but not from OSX (10.5.4) Terminal. When pressing "CTRL-SHIFT-6" I hear a beep an the key combination is not accepted. Tried will all the terminal types, as ANSI rather than VT-100, with no luck?
Anybody can help?
Thanks a lot,

Hi,
i am a beginer in SAP administration, users are getting this error message and i have done all my research and not able to resolve this issue. Here are the details
SAP Version :ideas 4.7
Database :Oracle
OS : windows 2003
Module user is working on MM
user working on it is a Super user with all the permissions
SAP is configure to run under the European date and decimal format.
I have never done any database administration on it, it is a new install and has been rarely used.
User creates a RFQ and when he tries saving it , seems like for the first time after either restarting the macine or restarting the service it might work and at time it might not, this is a very sporadic error and most of the times it crashes out with the message "sap system manager:work process restarted, session terminated" and kicks the user out of the session.
Below are the details of the error message from ST22 :
name of the runtime error : system_core_dumped
below are the details of the error message and its resoltion as suggested by sap help :
========
Runtime Errors SYSTEM_CORE_DUMPED

Make a note of the actions and input which caused the error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
date.

ThanksHello,
ORA-01194: file 1 needs more recovery to be consistent
ORA-01110: data file 1: '/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/oradata/db/system01.dbf'The system01.dbf which belongs to the Tablespace SYSTEM is still inconsistent.
So, I think you'll need to start from a Backup and apply all the Archived Redo logs before the ORA-600 occured.
More over, try to open a Service Request to My Oracle Support and, send them all the Traces Files and Alert Log so that they can follow all the actions which has occured on this Database. You may need their help.
Best regards,

Placing a telnet session within a java swing program
I was wondering if there was a way to maybe anchor a telnet session into a JPanel within a Java Swing program. Most of my users end up running a telnet session while using my Swing Program and I was hoping to find a way to bring the two together. If this is possible could someone point me in the right direction (like an online resource) that might show me how to do this.
You could use sockets and a TextArea and build your own simple telnet application.

Wired dot1X session termination
Hi all,
Question about wired dot1X session termination.
After a client successfully done on the wired dot1x authentication, my authZ rule is follow by the VLAN assignement whereby DHCP server will provision a client IP to the PC.
But when the client doing these 2 action:
01. after get connected, disable the IEEE 802.1x option on the PC Ethernet port setting
02. after get connected, disable, then enable the PC Ethernet port setting (bouncing)
I found out these 2 actions will still get the user in authorized state, because it is not link down or port-bounce action. Session still persist at client PC.
My question :
Anything i can configure either on the switch or ISE will automatic trigger an action like send an EAPOL-Logoff message, causing the switch port to change to the unauthorized state?
Thanks
Component in use:
client OS: window 7
PEAP-MsCHAP V2
authentication mode : iser or computer authetnication
no check on single sign on
no check remember credential for connection each time logged on
no check fallback to unauthorized network access
ISE 1.1.3 with patch 4
Switchport configuration
interface G0/1
switchporGt mode access
switchport access vlan 61
authentication port-control auto
dot1x pae authenticator
authentication host-mode multi-auth
authentication order dot1x
authentication priority dot1x mab
no shutdown
endFor #2 - The session should terminate and restart if the Ehternet adapter on the PC bounces. Are you saying that even though the user disables/enables the adapter, the session remains active in ISE/NAD?
For #1 - I am not really sure as I have never played with this before. My guess would be "No" because once ISE sends the "Access Accept" back to the NAD (your switch in this scenario), the NAD won't know if you are disabling 802.1x. The EAPoL conversation already took place so there is no more 802.1x type traffic coming in and out of the NAD/Client on that port.
I suppose you can set a re-autn and inactivity timer on both the NAD and ISE but keep in mind that it is not recommended for those timers to be set at low values (minimum 1 hour). Otherwise you could overwhelm your ISE servers depending on how large your environment is.
You will need to add the following commands on the switchport:
authentication periodic
authentication timer reauthenticate server
authentication timer inactivity server
Then in ISE you will need to set the re-auth and the idle timers under the "Authorization Profile"
Another thing to keep in mind is that you should control what your users can and cannot do on their workstations via GPO (Group Policy). In normal circumstances a regular user should not have the privileges to disable 802.1x or their Ethernet adapter :)
Hope this helps!

Run 6i form in a telnet session on a 32 bit Windows environment
Hi,
We have the following environment: 8.1.7 database, 9iDS Forms 6i (6.0.8.13.0) included. This is installed on 32 bit windows environment. We have wireless RF barcode scanners with TCP/IP connection. So they can connect to Unix box or a Windows telnet session. As we have Windows system we can connect this equipments to Windows through telnet session.
I heard and read in some topics that Forms 6i can run in character mode environment. But I didn't find any solution.
We would like to run forms as we can run svrmgrl for example on a telnet session.
My question is that it is possible to run 6i forms on charcater mode environment (telnet session) ? If so, what we need to do in the development or running phase (command line parameters for example).
Thanks in advance,
AttilaForms 6i can run in Character mode in telnet - but this only applies to Unix ports of the product - they have an f60run executable as well as the Gui f60runm and the Web f60runw runtimes.
Windows only has GUI and Web versions.
