TEM and ess

Hi All,
Can we implement training and event management without using ess? Can we use BSP to connect to TEM module for employees to change their personal details and check related information of training and event management?
Cheers
Cathy

Hello Cathy
From the SAP Easy Access --> /n and then following T codes
PV0I                 Display Business Event Catalog
PV1I                 Attendee Bookings: System Users
PV2I                 Attendee Bookings (Web Users)
PV3I                 Book Attendance System Users
PV4I                 Book Attendance Web Users
PV5I                 Cancel Attendance: System Users
PV6I                 Cancel Attendance Web Users
PV7I                 Training Center
PV8I                 My Bookings
But the screens would not be user friendly when executed through R/3. These can be used as Transaction iview when we use ESS and have TEM (No LSO)
Hope this helps
Best Regards

  • Reports available in the Business Package for MSS and ESS

    Hi,
I have searched sdn.sap.com throughout looking for a comprehensive list of reports available in the business packages for both MSS and ESS, i got a little bit of joy and found some of the MSS reports but not all on sdn.sap.com, can anyone please advise where i would find such information on both these packages, just to re-iterate, i am looking for a list of reports these business packages offer? any help much appreciated.
    Thanks
    John
P.s any documents can be sent to [email protected]

    @John
    (1) ESS- We built our own custom PORTAL role/workset in which one of the worksets we created is called "Tools and Forms". Under that workset, we placed various pages/iViews that either are simple URL iViews that link to external documents and such (like vacation request forms since they do not do online leave requests yet) as well as a couple ot t-code iViews that run reports in ECC for the employee. Nothing very mind blowing there. Just some content creation on the portal side.....oh, and some config on the backend to create a Homepage Framework Area Page and all for it (I liked that part!)
    (2) Wow....talk about perfect timing...I just had to document the way MSS sees the MDT reports in it's "reporting" area yesterday! haha Here goes the quick explaination....in configuration for MDT, you have various "scenarios". These kinda determine which "groups" of reports will show in MDT. For MSS for the Reporting webdynpro/service, the scenario is RPT0 (in ECC 5.0, at least). Soooo if you look at the function CODES assigned to RPT0, you will see several for Training and one for Accounting (Cost Centers)...you can reference the function CODES listed back to the "pool"/library of function codes a bit up/previous in the same config area for MDT(I think it is called "Define Function Codes"). However, there is one more piece you will see listed under RPT0....it is a DIRECT call to function MODULE "HR_HIS_READ" (this was a bugger to find because I could not find the "Maternity" report listed in the function codes and had to figure out where the heck it was coming from! haha). Anyways....what the function MODULE actually does is call the HR Information System (HIS) passing it the RPT0/MSS scenario. This returns the particular reports for Employee Data and Time&Attendance. You can see this if you run the HR_HIS_READ function directly and enter RPT0 for the second input value (first and third are not needed or you can just enter "*". Sooooo that is how the "magic" happens. Hope that explained it. From there, you can simply config you own scenario/reports to add into MSS if you like.
    Hope this helped!

  • Conflict between CAT2 and ESS Record Time

Does anyone know how to set up security to allow someone to record time through ESS while prohibiting that person from recording their own time through transaction CAT2 in ECC?  Our Payroll Department uses CAT2 to record/correct time for the entire company, but they are prohibited from recording/correcting their own time through CAT2 due to SOD violations.  Prohibiting them from recording their own time in CAT2, however, also prohibits them from recording their time through ESS.  We've tried using two login IDs for each Payroll user, but that did not work because each would have to be linked to the user ID so you end up with two IDs that can either record their time through both CAT2 and ESS or neither.  We're also aware of context-sensitive based security, but we've been told that would require redoing all of our security roles, so we're trying to avoid it.  Does anyone know of another way to achieve what we're trying to achieve?

Why is time recording an SoD and if so why is ESS not an SoD?
Probably because the ruleset does not include the webservice but only the cat2 tcode... in which case you might as well create zcat2 which calls cat2 without skip first screen --> no SoD anymore...
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Error When building ess/tra/tre and ess/tra/tre/trs DC's

I had customized the ess/tra/tre and ess/tra/tre/trs DC's and had them working, but I do not know what I did or what happened that am now getting the following errors when building, can anyone help tell what the problem could be?
    Error
    -     The project was not built since its classpath is incomplete. Cannot find the class file for com.sap.xss.tra.model.openccmodel.OVSOpenCostcenterModel. Fix the classpath then try rebuilding this project.
    -     HDI_HNS15.02_Desstratresap.com
    Error
    -     This compilation unit indirectly references the missing type com.sap.xss.tra.model.openccmodel.OVSOpenCostcenterModel (typically some required class file is referencing a type outside the classpath)
    -      InternalVcTreReview.java
    -      HDI_HNS15.02_Desstratresap.com/gen_wdp/packages/com/sap/xss/tra/tre/vc/review/wdp
    -     line 0

For anyone who might need to know, I managed to fix this by adding tra to the required projects on the build path. On the Navigator View, right click -> Properties -> Java Build Path -> Projects tab -> check dependant project.

  • Where to store employee photos after upload to R3 and ESS?

    Hello everyone!
I'm looking for documentation related with upload employees photos in order to decide where is the 'right' server type to store our photos concearning our reality.
We have many companies around the world in diferent sites. After upload employee photo to R/3 and ESS we want to save it in a place easily accessible by other aplications and by many users in different countries.
In documentation I saw that we may choose:
    - HTTP Content Server
    - R/3 database
    - RFC repository
What do you think is the best choice concearning time of response, and other factors.
    Thank you very much.
    Scarlett

    Hi Preetham!
Thanks but I've already knew that document and its not enough to answer my question.
I apreciate that people that has a similar reality in their company give me their oppinion and suggestions.
    Regards,
    Scarlett

  • PA30 and ESS functionality

This is a functionality question rather than a how-to question.  When I load the "Tax Exempt Prohibited" field in table T5UTZ for our tax authority, the corresponding field in PA30 for infotype 210 becomes protected.  But nothing happens in ESS.  The "Tax Exempt Indicator" on the ESS W4 page remains and editable drop-down box.  Wouldn't you expect the Tax Exempt field in both PA30 and ESS to become protected?  This is something I've had problems with before.  I can change text values and drop down box contents via ABAP R3 code changes, but I can't affect attributes (protected, invisible) even though there is SAP documentation that shows you how to do it.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/EN/43/319dd48c4d0b19e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm

    Vivek,
I understand we can make it read only. But i think the requirement is to remove entries from the dropdown list without affecting the backend. In other words making changes to the domain EXEMP.

  • WebGui and ESS/MSS

    Hello everyone,
I am new EP, I had been assigned the task of configuring WEB GUI and ESS and MSS. My Portal Version is 6.0 and backend is ECC 5.0 .Can any one guide me in this regard.
    Regards,
    Priya

    Hi Priya,
For ESS and MSS exist the documentation that explains the basic configuration, you may consult them at SAP Help.
    ESS http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/f6/263359f8c14ef98384ae7a2becd156/frameset.htm
    MSS http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/29/d7844205625551e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
In order to configure the access to any transaction through WebGui, what you must do is to Create the Systems at the System Administration area and then create the SAP Transaction iViews you need to access.
    Hope this helps,

  • Integrate SAP postal code in PA30 and ESS scenario

    Hai Experts,
does anyone have a manual how to integrate SAP postal code in PA30 and ESS scenario.
SAP does have postal code tables which by customizing can be integrated in SAP HCM.
I need to know which customizing i need to do to activate the postal functionality en the progam to read and updat the SAP tables with the postal codes and address data delivered by out national post host!
    Grtz en thanks in advance
    RIchard

This solution is for NL country localization:
Activate NLADR feature with X; "For infotype Address Data (0006) this will result in the system checking the postal code for a given address."
The rest of what you need is in MP00064N include logic subroutines verify_address_nl.
    *&      Form  verify_address_nl
Verification of address data in infotype 6 against the address
          data in Central Address Management.
         -->P_STRAS  Streetname
         -->P_HSNMR  Housenumber
         -->P_PSTLZ  Postal code
         -->P_ORT01  City
         -->P_LAND1  Country
    FORM verify_address_nl  USING    p_stras
                                     p_hsnmr
                                     p_pstlz
                                     p_ort01
                                     p_land1.
    Hope it helps,
    Regards,

  • TEM in ESS

    Hi All,
We are implementing Training and Event Management in ECC 6.0 with EP 7.0.
I understand that, there is Learning Solution component (LSO) in ECC wherein a customer can implement it to avail more enhanced features/functionalities. But due to timelines and cost factors, we are only about to go with TEM in ECC.
I know, there are standard set of ITS transations in TEM (PV7i and PV8i) which can be integrated in ESS.
My query is specifically for a manager booking or nominating an employee for a particular training in TEM, If yes, what would be the ITS transaction for the same ? Moreover, can a manager see all the bookings done by employee ?
Also, Is there any licensing implications for LSO in order to use it ? When the licensing comes into picture for LSO (for example online web based training, authoring environment etc.,)
Please share your experiences. Looking forward to your kind responses.
    Regards,
    Anil Kumar

    Hello Anil Kumar,
yea well i am currently more into the Duet/Alloy thingy
Anyway, for the Reporting feature within MSS please take a look at the help page (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/e4/2eb47fed444bb885c244f5ff979f16/frameset.htm) this should give you a first overview.
I do not think there is a public documentation about the LSO pricing model available, but i can give you the basic setup. The LSO pricing model is based on "Learner Entities". A "Learner Entity" (n) is based on 500 individual Learners.
The Learner Entity is split up in groups, which defines your basic costs-factor. E.g. the first Group is from n <= 20, which costs you u20AC X. The second group is from 21 < n <= 40 which costs you u20AC X - A. and so on. The more Learner Entities you have the lower you basic cost-factor. The total price now is setup by a formular which is a bit too complex to talk about here I hope you understand that.
Lets give you a simple example. If you want to bring 3000 Learners into the LSO you are still in the first group, which is from n <= 20 (you remember, n = 500 Learners). Your total price now is: n * your basic cost-factor. In our example: 3000/500 * X = total costs.
I hope this gives you an idea how its working.
    regards,
    Markus

  • TEM and FI/CO   (Training and Event Management)

    Hi All,
I wish to track actual cost per event in PE (TEM - Training and Event Management).  Was considering having a Internal order per Instance of event. Have any Idea on how to set up something like this?
    Appreciate all ideas,
    LB

    Hi Dean,
using internal orders you have to consider that sending and receiving cost center have to in the same company code.
If you do not want to distribute the costs to FI/CO but only report them, you can use the cost items provided by TEM. We have set up something similar for our plants in South Europe.
We have created some cost items and fill them manually with the training costs. Additionally we have created a report that evaluated this costs and combines them with the employee costs (derived from salary).
    Best regards
    Michael

  • HR Payroll and ESS Problem

    Hello,
We had a SAP HR PAYROLL and Portal - ESS implemented in our lanscape. When payroll is processing (generally month end) we are locking the ess user's in Portal because users are getting locked automatically(e.g: when attempted to apply for leave via portal) and also payroll or leave data updation is getting fail in respective infotypes.
Now, I want some one to tell, what is the general procedure in most of the projects?
In case users are locked during payroll run, how do they apply for leaves?
Our customer expectation is not to lock users in any of the system during payroll run and should do their activities as usual. Whats the best procedure to acheive this?
    Thanks.

In my last ESS implementation...when the payroll was being processed the Payroll used to be locked and not the users and then the users were not able to edit their Banks Information ...but they should be able to apply for leaves....are you using a custom procedure to lock the users during the Payroll run....
