Temp Directories being created C:\ of Windows Workstations

Everyone,
I know I have seen this asked before but I can't find the threads containing the question and/or answers......
Our one and only ZCM Server started life 11.2 and has progressed all the way to 11.2.4 (no monthly updates). I have noticed on all Computer's, temp folders (ie. C:\3a3480522db0eaefc4c9e9, etc.) are created in the root directory during any bundle deployment and never removed. Also a folder similar to {4bb8218c-aebf-4113-882f-b10ae15c8218} exist in the root directory. Workstations are Win 7 - 64 bit. I believe the folder are suppose to be elsewhere but I have no idea what setting I set/changed moved them to the root of the C:\ nor do I know where to change that location back to the default.
Any guidance in resolving this issue would be appreciated!

Pwolff2000,
the temp directories are created by windows updates, not ZENworks (unless you're deploying patches!). As for the other directory, a quick search of the knowledgebase will show you http://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7009965

  • When clicking on link in email, new tab NOT being created, but new window on existing tab - I want NEW TAB for each link clicked on...

Up until today, whenever I clicked on link in email, a NEW TAB would be created. Now, when I click on link, a new WINDOW on existing tab is created - I WANT A NEW TAB, not a window...

Hmmm, which mail site is this?
One possibility is that you had a tab-related extension that automatically opened regular links in a new tab, and that the extension was disabled because it was incompatible with the latest version. To check for disabled add-ons, visit the Tools > Add-ons dialog.
As a short term workaround: you probably know you can force a link to open in a new tab by holding Ctrl when you click the link, or by using the "middle" mouse button (often the scroll wheel). I find that quicker than right-clicking the link and choosing Open in new tab.

  • HELP!! Temp files being created when saving in CS2???!!

    Hi all,
I recently upgraded my OS to leopard and since i did this i have been having this strange problem? When I save a file in illustrator (CS2) it is also creating some kind second archive file (Acr1860018314.tmp for example) does anyone know what is causing this it is really annoying

I'm on CS2 and it sometimes happens even though I have nothing else running except E-mail and maybe Preview. A restart seems to help, but I haven't discovered why the temps appear. They don't do any harm and you can safely trash them to no ill effect.

  • Two user id are being created in BO when user is accessing from Window AD

    Hello Team,
We are facing a problem in BO XIR3.
    1.     Where  users are login BO through Window AD login.
    2.     When users are login two idu2019s are being created in BO for that user.
    3.      One with the same name and another one with appending 0 at end.
    4.     For example if user  abcd login through window AD in BO there will be two idu2019s are created one is with abcd and another one is abcd0
    5.     Here users are already having access to BO thorugh AD aunthtication,
For ex: User abcd is having access to BO through Win AD, but when he is login then one more id is being created with name abcd0 in BO.even the alias name is same for both of the ID.
here abcd is already in system abcd0 is being created in BO
6     For second created id like abcd0 in BO rights are not given so user is not able to login.
    7.     Here when user abcd is login from AD his alias point to second created id in BO(abcd0) and this second id abcd0 is not having access to Bo so users are not able to access BO.
Can you please let me know why it is happening, what went wrong and where ????
Your help will be highly apprecaited

OIM 11.1.1.3 is the version that we installed. USR_PASSWORD is not empty, after BP03 this appears to be a random password. it appears to be generated by oracle.iam.reconciliation.impl.ReconUserPasswordHandler. • Prevent resource fork from being created on windows network shares

I've already seen this article on how to prevent creating ds_store files on windows machines:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301711
But I haven't seen any way (short of buying software) to prevent the resource forks from being created. OSX creates resource forks on remote network volumes that pile up, are useless to the windows users, and creates a lot of grief.
For every file copied to a windows share, OSX is putting a duplicate (unopenable) file with an underscore prefix:
    _file1.psd
    _file2.psd
    file1.psd
    file2.psd
This is kind of rude network behavior, and I'd like to stop doing it.
Isn't there some sort of terminal command similar to the .ds_store solution I posted above?

I swear I saw a hack for that somewhere, but give up after 3 hours of searching for it!
Seems like BlueHarvest at $10 is the best solution as it is...

  • Accounts being created with administrative group rights

    Hello,
The server is a Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise fully patched used for Shared Hosting purposes.  It runs Hsphere control panel.  I am trying to identify how the following hack is happening.
    1) There are users being created with Administrative group rights.   Below is the EventViewer log for the user creation:
    User Account Created:
         New Account Name:    username
         New Domain:    PCNAME
         New Account ID:    PCNAME\username
         Caller User Name:    PCNAME$
         Caller Domain:    DOMAINNAME
         Caller Logon ID:    (0x0,0x3E7)
         Privileges        -
     Attributes:
         Sam Account Name:    username
         Display Name:    <value not set>
         User Principal Name:    -
         Home Directory:    <value not set>

         User Parameters:    <value not set>
         Sid History:    -
Logon Hours:    <value changed, but not displayed>
There exists entries as well where the primary group ID is changed to the Administrative group, but I am omitting such.
    2) I tried to identify what Caller Logon ID:    (0x0,0x3E7) means.  I found out from here:
http://blog.joeware.net/2013/01/14/2667/ that I can use LogonSessions.exe to identify it.
Output from LogonSessions.exe is pasted below (snippet):

    3) I also learned from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/243330/en-us that   Sid:          S-1-5-18 means:
    SID: S-1-5-18
    Name: Local System
Description: A service account that is used by the operating system
That is all great info, but I am not sure I can put together what I have learned to attempt and get closer towards identifying how in the world users are being created and then being assigned administrative group rights.
I am a Linux person mostly, but I am comfortable following a properly explained thread regarding windows 2003 R2 Enterprise issues.
The server is fully patched and it is running Lumension security product.  What's more, Norman Malware tracker, tdskiller.exe (Kaspersky) and McAfee rootkitremover.exe have been run without any apparent Malware/Virus infection
Hope someone with advanced admin skills can advise.
    Thank you

    Hi,
You mentioned that, “I am trying to identify how the following hack is happening”, would you please tell us that why did you think the event represent a hacking behavior?
In a Shared Server Hosting environment, the underlying hosting control panel tool (Hsphere in this case) should be creating only virtual FTP users with a specific group.  So no users with Administrative group should be ever created.  If this happens,
it constitutes a breach of server security=positive hacking attempt.
    >how in the world users are being created and then being assigned administrative group rights.
In addition, would you please be more specific about this question? Did you find the event message on a domain joined machine?
I want to be able to understand in full how/what process is allowing users to be created with Admin rights.  In other words, I want to know what IP was used to issue the command, if ASP.net was used (abused in this case), or anything else related to
it so that we can patch this particular hole.
    Best Regards,
    Amy

  • .DS_Store files on USB thumbdrives - a way to stop them from being created?

    Hello!
Forgive me if this has been asked to death, but at school I need to copy homework files back and forth to the school's XP-based computers constantly. Because in any given day I usually update half a dozen files across the "homework" folder on my Powerbook, it's easier just to copy the entire folder (and its subfolders) to my 2-GB, FAT-32 formatted flash drive each night - all 500 files (and 150 MB). Of course, this also leaves hundreds of .DS_Store and ._filename files to clutter "Windows explorer" windows.
My question is how do I remove (and prevent creation of) these files selectively? I know that they are used by the finder to store thumbnails, spotlight comments, and labels. The big problem is that while I want to remove these files from the homework folder (and some other folders), I DO NOT want to remove them from a few other folders on the flash drive - which I use to make quick backups of files from my Mac.
I know that I can prevent OS X from creating them altogether with certain utilities, and I know that I can get third-party utilities that allow me to remove these files from flash drive and/or prevent the creation of the files for entire volumes, but is there something I can do to remove them from only certain folders?
Also, since I do not always know beforehand what directories I might make, I'd like to be able to create a "white list" of only certain directories (and their sub-directories)that won't be touched, while all others will have their ".DS_Store" and "._filename" files removed.
Finally, because I'm often a hurry when I go to copy files, I'd rather not sit there and run terminal commands or a program every time I copy a folder over to the flash drive. Is there some way to prevent them from being created in these certain folders altogether, automatically? An applescript or terminal command that I can program to run from the script menu perhaps? I don't mind opening a program or script, I just don't want to have to sit there manually removing the files.
    Thanks,
    -Dan

I had a similar problem awhile back and asked for help in the Applescript forum:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=954738&tstart=0
Unfortunately the revised jive software formatting function here in the forums has totally messed up things like posted scripts. What you'll see in the scripts discussed is no longer what was there originally. I just now put a copy of the script I'm using up in zip format here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/francines/.Public/CopyStrip2Fat.zip
Unzip and open in Script Editor to get some idea of what it is really supposed to be. The idiot formatting of the revised jive software has replaced some things with a carriage return, a semi-colon, and close quote, thus rendering some lines meaningless.
To see the source of the script I quoted, see this MacOSXHints thread:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20040726164957299
The script is in the comment by cougar718. You might take a look at other comments as well.

  • How do I stop Mac creating files on Windows server creating hidden files?

I have my macbook connecting to a windows 2003 server share. Whenever I write a file, either by creating or editing and saving, it creates a hidden file too. I edit filename.doc then I'll also have ._filename.doc in that directory. It's distracting the windows users and causing me to become a little unpopular. How can I prevent those hidden files from being created?

This happens in part with some Mac files that contain both a resource and a data fork. Windows doesn't know how to handle these files and breaks them apart. Also, Mac OS creates certain hidden files used by the Finder that also get transferred but are no longer hidden on Windows because Windows does not recognize the "." preceding a filename as the Unix shorthand for "invisible."
There are a number of free utilities you will find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate that can prevent this and the hidden files from appearing on the Windows drive.
Zipping files before transfer will also prevent the problem from occurring.

  • Local and Roaming profiles not being created

    Hello all,
I'm in need of help and I wondered if there was anyone out there with some suggestions.
The problem is that one of our sites has Netware 5 and Zfd3.2 and there are no longer any roaming profiles or local profiles being created. Volatile user is not used. Roaming profiles go to the users home directory. All file rights are fine. DLU is still working. Novell client on W2K workstations is 4.90. All other sites appear to be OK.
I suspected that the user policy was at fault and so created a test user package and associated a test user to it = same result.
I have checked from top to bottom and compared all settings to other sites and can see no difference or anything unusual. I've been working on this for 2 days now and I'm going grey and bald.
    Any suggestions anyone?
I'll buy a pint for anyone with the answer - LOL.
    Thanks in advance

  • [QUESTION] File CONOTRL.SQL is not being created!!

    Dear experts,
I am doing a Java refresh from our production to our development system.
I have first restored the oracle 11 database. As it is NetWeaver 7.3 EHP1, it
should be possible to do a refresh or system copy using the backup/restore
method, which according to SAP is supported for v. 7.3.
Afterwards, I started SWPM for NetWeaver 7.3 in order to do a target system
installation, in order to manage the mess with the java IDs.
Though this installation is asking for a file, named CONTROLSQL or CONTROL.SQL
(both names are mentioned in different parts of the same screen!! How
    confusing, dear SAP !!!)
Then at the bottom of this infamous window, there is an explanation, that the file
is being created during the source system export preparation.
Grrr, fine!! I went to the source system, inflated quickly another SWPM there, did
the export preparation and... GUESS WHAT !! No CONTROLSQL or CONTROL.SQL
file!! Nor in the install directory (which I have separate - not /tmp), neither in the
export location. And I even searched in /tmp and nothing like this !!
Now I am exporting the entire source system while it is running !! (can't shutdown
the production!). Where is this file pleasseeeeee...???
I have done the same procedure on another project with MSSQL Server and it
went flawlessly without any control sql-files!!
Thanks a lot for your help!!

    Hi Symon,
Note: As a part of backup/ restore process we create a new control.sql file using the command
    SQL> alter database backup controlfile to trace;
Rename this trace file to control.sql and place it in target system.
Please check the installation log folder for file CONTROL.SQL SAP installer checks for this file in installation log folder.
IF the database is up and running in target system & If file does not exist, you may create a new file with name CONTROL.SQL and add EXIT; line into it and save it.
    Post this installation should proceed.
    Hope this helps.

  • Itunes 11 shows zero photos in Aperture and ApertureData.xml not being created in library

I've tried to do some trouble shooting of this problem. I've rebuilt permissions, I've repaired and rebuilt the Aperture library, I've made sure sharing previews is always for iLife and iWork, I've created a new library, switched to it and switched back and I can't get iTunes to see my albums and pictures from my iPhoto library when I try to sync through Aperture. What I have found is when I created the new temporary library and loaded one pic into it, a file in the package contents called ApertureData.xml is created, which isn't created in the iPhoto libary, it has AlbumData.xml. iTunes does recognize the temp library and photo. I deleted the AlbumData.xml, but it was just recreated. It seems Aperture is supposed to be creating a file that it isn't. Any help would be appreciated, I'm trying to migrate from iPhoto to using Aperture exclusively to manage photos and sync with devices. All software is up to date. Thanks.

in case anyone searches and finds this question, but importing by iphoto library to aperture into a new library, I fixed the problem. I do not know how to fix the original issue of the aperturedata.xml not being created in the origianl iphoto library.
