Temp files in user temp folder

I have an issue that recently popped up. Adobe Livecycle 7.0 creates a temporary pdf file under C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local settings\Temp everytime a pdf is previewed by the user. The files keeps building and never get deleted. Interestingly, the problem started happening only about a month ago. So it appears that it was getitng purged by Adobe earlier.
Does anyone know what could be wrong and if there is anything that needs to be changed to make the automatic purging to continue to happen ?
Any guidance is very much appreciated.
Thanks !

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
(2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Why is iTunes Match creating hundreds of temp files in my iTunes folder?

I'm syncing a large (24000 songs) library, and I noticed my free space has gone from 180GB to 70.  I found about 1400 temp files that have been created in the iTunes application folder, each one about 50mb.  Has anyone else noticed this?  Can I delete the files, or get iTunes to clean them up?
    Thanks!

    Same problem here.
I just created another question in the iTunes for Mac section of the discussion forum, because it it probably not directly caused by iTunes Match, but a generic iTunes problem.

This is not working for me in Windows 8.  I have a shortcut to an EXE file located in"C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup".  If I set the shortcut to run as administrator (screenshot attached) then it does
not run at all on startup.  If I uncheckmark "Run as Administrator" then it starts fine (but does not have enough privileges to do what it needs to do).  In Windows 7 this was not an issue since the current user was a local administrator and did
not need to elevate its privileges further.
Any ideas how I can work around this problem?  Thanks!
Ugh... it won't let me attach a screenshot until my "account is verified", whatever that means.

  • Relocating skype history and temp files folder on ...

    Hi Skype Team.
My laptop is equipped with SSD storages and i am configuring it to reduce disk write operations intensity.
SSD is the system drive, marked with C letter. OS is windows 8.1 x64
Disk operation analysis shows that skype is in top of disk writers, so i want to reconfigure it's temp files folder and history db location to another drive D, not ssd.
I reinstalled the skype to another drive and created a folder for temporary files.
Skype .exe location is "D:\Program files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"
The new folder i created for skype temp files is: "D:\Program files\Skype\DataStore"
Following one of the topics i tried making a new shortcut, with the path specified as:
    "D:\Program files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /datapath:”D:\Program files\Skype\DataStore” /removable
    But skype don't start.
    When i remove /datapath:”D:\Program files\Skype\DataStore” /removable, skype starts successfully.
Please advise proper measures to change temp file and history db folder
    Solved!

This should have been working. I'm using this kind of Skype shortcut to run several different Skype versions at the same time.

  • CS6 temp file blunder - can you repeat this problem?

There is a serious root problem with Adobe's implemented permissionless-temp-file creation methods (pun intended.) The problem is that during startup, both Bridge and Photoshop CS6 try to make temp files on the root folder of the OS drive. Its affecting many peoples' installations by crashing them on application launch if not run by the super-administrator account on the computer. Adobe says to just run as admin to fix it, which does fix the start up crash. However, for me, it creates a gigantic problem: it breaks OS-to-PS and OS-to-Bridge drag and drop functionality completely!!! I literally was slowed to a crawl in my workflow having to import photos 1 at a time through the file-> open menu because I couldn't drag and drop various files from various locations on my computer. Not everything is clumped in 1 area neatly for Bridge to open everything, and I never realized just how much I used this function until this run as admin band-aid broke it. Eventually I fixed the CS temp location after 10-12 hours of hair pulling research and trial and error, and I finally have Photoshop CS6 working without admin permissions and everything is dandy with drag and drop, but only in PS. Bridge still cannot be run without administrator privileges and cannot have files dropped in or out of it to or from Explorer, and I am getting really frustrated here.
Its kind of disheartening that I have to work for 10 hours in order for me to be able to pay and fully utilize Adobe's software. Even 3 months after being made aware of this issue in other forums, and for how many people it is affecting, they still don't fix it when all they need to do is move the default location of the temp file to somewhere without a need for admin permissions! (I.E. documents folder?)
So does anyone else find their drag and drop ability gone once running Bridge/PS CS6 in admin mode? Am I the only one? Is there a way to move the default temp creation location of Bridge as well? I'm frustrated and I think Adobe seems to be taking this permissions issue way too lightly!

I'm running Windows 7x64 Professional. Temp is actually on my RAMdisk but using a folder junction to trick the programs into thinking its on the default temp folders of the C drive. Disabling UAC will fix it yes, but I don't want to disable UAC as I travel with this computer and security is something I prefer to have with me. Its only set to minimal UAC as well, but still its nice for spotting some things. And now, I really am going to look stupid here, but some reason now I can run Bridge without admin permissions without crashing, but now I can't preview or play .mp4 files which was a problem I had before!!! So, now I have a big WTF? expression on my face right now since I've been meticulously trying to get Bridge to work with drag and drop for over a week (and I guess now it magically does once someone actually pays attention to my posts lol) but now .mp4 functionality is poof without admin rights, no matter where the files reside. I think I give up on Bridge I'll just run it as admin but sheesh...
[[ giant pointless image removed by admin ]]
But, I still can post references... these all have a problem with 'MMXCore.8BX_unloaded' on startup (there are more elsewhere but it takes time to find them all):
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/bridge_cs6_release_crashes_on_startu p
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1001298
    http://www.sjogrens.nu/?p=106
Junction points are mentioned in the second post, and that's what I have done on my system (I did it with a program not command prompt, though)
Really though, after all I've read through and tried, changing the default location of where Photoshop and Bridge intitially put their TMP files to a permission-lax folder would really fix all the problems with this, even if it is caused by changing the default temp area, it would solve the issue for everyone that does do it. A user's documents folder would work perfectly. Sorry if I'm a little inconsistent with information I'm tired and just about burnt out on this stuff (including a lack of sleep)

  • Loads Of Temp Files

I seem to be getting loads of temp files created by itunes. I have run a cleaning pass with onyx but they keep coming back. Help!
    Paul

I get iTunes temp files in the iTunes folder (not the iTunes Music folder) every now and again. They are labled iTunes database files in the Get Info box. I just checked and see I have some from last August. They are all 4.3 mb. They are named "Temp File", "Temp File 1", "Temp File 2", etc. I have simply deleted them in the past.
I have never noted what was being done when they were created because I only discover they are there when I look at the iTunes folder in Finder for some reason.

  • So many Temp files in iTunes library

We have three Mac computers used for different media purposes, one video editing, another sound recording and mixing, a third for research and editing - I have tried to rationalise our sound library by creating what I hoped would and could be a central library on a server ethernet drive but for some reason or other, iTunes is creating loads of quite large Temp files in the first folder on this drive, currently I have 31 such files, varying in size from 10 to 14 mbs.
Can anyone explain why iTunes is doing this and whether it will or I should get rid of them sometime?

External iTunes libraries of age and great size create many temp files to keep hold of changes and renaming of songs

  • TA27400 iTunes: Multiple temp files after iTunes Match subscription

Since I subscribed the iTunes Match service I have a very annoying issue: a lot of temp files on my iTunes folder.
My library is pretty big (24989 songs) and my temp file iTunes Music Library.xml is 42mb.
Well, I never counted how many but I think that in one week I have to delete more than 100 temp files, all located in the iTunes folder and with the same size of the iTunes Music Library.xml (42mb).
That's really annoying and give me also another problem with Native Instrument Traktor, sometimes the program can't recognize the Itunes Library file.
That's really bad for a professional DJ.
Another problem, the HD was corrupted, two times in 2 weeks, never happened before.
It seems that iTunes Match service still have some problems or maybe is just my setup?
    I'm confused and worried.

I see one temp file (named Temp File.tmp) in my iTunes folder (where the iTunes Music Library.xml file is located).  It is about one-third the size of the iTunes Music Library.xml file (pretty small).  Never noticed it there before.  Also, in my case at least, I don't think it has anything to do with iTunes Match, because it has a modified date of 12/30/2011.
    > Another problem, the HD was corrupted, two times in 2 weeks, never happened before.
That's not because of iTunes Match...  Back up data, reformat drive, restore data.  If it happens again soon, the hard drive is probably starting to fail (bad sectors).

  • BPC Detail error/reject log not created in the PrivatePub/user/temp folder

    Hi,
We have a custom import package that imports data from a comma seperated txt file in to BPC. If all the data members in the data file are valid dimension members the package is successful and the package log file is created in the PrivatePub/user/Temp folder. But if there are any rejects the reject log is not getting created under the temp folder and moreover the package status is "Error". The package log is created but the reject log is not. The Webfolders has the full share permissions.
The same package runs fine in our Test environment and creates the package log and reject log.
We are on BPC 5.1 SP3.
Is there a configuration that is missing.
    Thanks in advance.
    Swaroop

I'm pretty sure that when you do not explicitly indicate a transformation file, a default file (import.xls I think?) is used.
Also, there are a number of temp files & variables that must be created in the MODIFYSCRIPT variable, and certain conversion tasks that are part of the standard import process. You can see the proper syntax in the sample import pacakges.
If you've created a new package of your own, you may be missing some key pieces. If you don't understand what all the pieces are in the sample packages (and why you don't need them), you should start by debugging with one of them, and then see what you need to add back into your package.
I'd normally recommend to start with the sample import package, and only modify it if necessary, and as little as possible.
Last thought - file permission... does the user running the package (not the end user logged into BPC, but the BPC data manager user, which I believe is the "USER" (not admin or sysadmin) set up during the server install) have appropriate access rights to that network share where the data file is located? Try changing it to a local path, and copy the test.txt to that location.

  • CSA - random temp file in windows folder, no extension

So I have this ASP.NET application that insists on placing its temp files directly in the Windows directory. AND it doesn't use any kind of extension. So how do you allow this without making the windows folder vulnerable?
Here is an example of the event:
TESTMODE: The process 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\csc.exe' (as user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE) attempted to access 'C:\WINDOWS\2Z1J1J1Q1Q8Q8Q8X'. The attempted access was a write (operation = OPEN/CREATE). The operation would have been denied.
    Wow, crazy! Okay do this:
    - create a new File Access Control rule
    - set to Priority Allow
    - choose your application (in my case, ASP.NET)
    - check Read and Write
    - create new File Set
    - Directories matching: @windows
    - Files matching: ????????????????
    - but not: *.*
Okay so here is what this does. I compared all the events, and I noticed that the random file is always exactly 16 standard characters, with no extension. The question mark (?) is a single alphanumeric wildcard. By wildcarding the exact size of the string, but not allowing anything with a period (. for an extension), I now have a file set that matches what I need to exclude.
Hope that helps someone with a similar oddity.

    Thank you Richard!
Great response. I have similar problem. The difference is that this actually never happens - the .Net application tries to write to that default location, but it does not succeeds, because of security restrictions, but the event is actually logged.
Do you know of a way to get around this?
