Temp. on k7n2-L & amd 2500+

hi all
let's make a survey here..
I just wonder about the temperature that k7n2-L and amd 2500+ users...
Please post your cpu and system temp... (please write idle and load temp.)
And please add the name of your cooler (if it is possible write rpm)
and add your bios version
and add the fsb and multiplier... for example (200*11)
By this way we have an idea about the temp. on this mobo and cpu.
thanks for your reply..

Well today, with the air temp down to around 20C round here, I've got it idling at:
chipset: 36C cpu: 41C
After running Prime95 for 20 minutes
chipset: 40C cpu: 46C
Those readings are the average reading from Motherboard Monitor 5.  When testing I clear the MBM5 log at the same time I start prime95.
FWIW, here's a MBM5 log from yesterday running prime95 for about 5 hours.  The temp peaks all the way up at 57C but I think that's more a measurement fluctuation error than anything else.
Total number of readouts: 1068
CPU Speed: 2106 MHz

I'd think that High read of 8347 on the Heatsink Fan would be an aberration as well.  The fan just doesn't go that fast.
Yesterday the air temp was about 15C hotter than it is today.
I have a question though, using something like MBM5 that will give you a log of spike temperatures, is that really significant?  I could see it being significant if it was spiking up to an actual dangerous level, but in these kind of discussions, should we talk about average load temperatures or peak load temperatures?
Unless you're using a temperature log there's no way to know what your temps are peaking at I guess, maybe I'm in the minority in keeping track of this stuff.

  • AMD 2500 showing as 1900?

I have a K7N2 Delta board and am using a AMD 2500 Barton. When the chip is installed bios and windows see it as a 1900 AMD.
Can anyone tell me how to set it so its seen as a 2500
    Thanks

OrbinSpace i dout the cpu is running at 100mhz.
a xp2500 uses a multiplier of 11.5 and it would have shown something else if it was running at 1150mhz.
i believe its running at a higher fsb.
NOTE im not sure the xp2500 uses 11.5 multiplier so i might be wrong.lack of good working memory

(im going to use a readon 9800pro 128mb video card)
    please help me
humm this is a nice smilie

    hi
my xp2400+ was faster than a friends ibm computer with a p4 2.4ghz.
on most test my cpu was faster but his cpu was faster on some tests.
used performance test to check it.
and now i have my cpu overclocked  :D he will not have a chance
go with amd is all i say.
i had both intel and amd and i like amd more because they can be overclocked more and are MUCH more stable than a intel cpu based motherboard.
    bye

  • Bios Settings for AMD 2500+

    Hi Guys,
I've just built a new system with a KM"M Combo series MSI motherboard. I've put an AMD 2500+ CPU in and set the bio settings all to default, however the CPU is shown as a 1700+ and then in Windows XP the actual speed is shown as being 1400+ Can anyone tell me which settings I need to change and to what.
    Thanks.

KM2M uses a 133/266FSB max, the 2500 is a 333FSB CPU. you will never get it up to full speed on that board. Either swap it for a 2600 266FSB chip (good luck finding the rare critter) or a 2400. the 2600 has 3 versions, 1 @ 266, and 2 @ 333. All 2400's are 266FSB.
The other option is to run it at the speed it is running now, and knowing that you are underclocking it about 20%.

  • Motherboard K7N2 Delta/ AMD XP 2.2

I have an AMD xp 2.2 processor fitted in the mother board that I bought recentle, exactly is K7N2 Delta series, MS-6570 (v1.X) ATX Mainboard and win xp prof as an operating system.
On my comp/propert the processor buss freq comes up as 1.35 GHZ, instead of 1.81Ghz that was coming up with the old motherboard.
I have checked the jumpers and they're optimized at 133mhz buss spead. I did change the bus spead from 100 mhz to 133 mhz in bios, but the op system became unstable and freezed up, so i had to decrease it to 100mhz again, and the system is noticeable slow, especially when i am doing video editing.
Now, this could be simple but I am quite a novice  and could really appreciate if you vould help me optimising my processor.
    Cheers

Booting up with Windows 2000 Pro CD in the CD-ROM I get the message checking your hardware and this message remains on the monitor, the system seems to hault or freeze up.  ?(
Does anyone have some idea what is going on

Thanks for your help. I tried the other memory chip and the computer starts beeping, telling me that the memory chip is bad. I guess that's what you meant when you said dodgey.

  • Help with K7N2 Delta + Barton 2500+

Last night I changed my BIOS to 11x210, everything was working fine at 11x200, but now my machine will not boot up, the D-Bracket on my MSI K7N2 Delta shows that there is a problem with the RAM, but the RAM was working fine and after leaving the machine off for sometime it begins to boot up.
You can hear the drives spin up, the the Graphics card doesn't seem to kick in and the monitor LED remains on Amber.
I have tried clearing the CMOS with the JBT1 jumper but it doesn't seem to clear, I also removed the CR2032 battery but that also didn't work.
    Please Help
    More information is available

read the book it eally does help J 10 will force pc into 100 fsb mode
then you can set it back to 200 and put the jumper back in user mode
only move the jumper with the pc off and mains power disconnnected

  • KT6 Delta FISR & AMD 2500+

I have new MB KT6 Delta FISR and CPU Athlon 2500+ (1833 MHz) and I have problem.
The combination is working nice. But in BIOS I can see FSB=100 only.
And CPU is by Sandra identified as Athlon 1800+ Barton/Thorton on 1100 MHz.
THe BIOS high power is FSB=133 and notice get damage warning.
Then Sandra shows CPU 1900+ on 1435 MHz. I left it 133 and CPU temperature is about 62 deg.C.
Because I didn't check the CPU identification I am afraid to increase FSB to 166MHz.
The RAM Kingston 333 MHz is working on 200 MHz by SAndra.
The second question is the temperature of MB. Sandra warns that 52 deg.C is too high. The VIA chip has no cooler even if on the picture in MSI pages there is one. But it is the picture of the FISR2 I think.
    Thank you for your advice.
    Joe.

I would recommend using CPUZ to identify the processor. Sandra (and most programs) will recognize the processor as 1800+ because it is operating at 1100 mhz (100FSB). When you increase the FSB to 166 you will see that your processor will be identified as a 2500+. IMPORTANT: When you increase the FSB to 166, leave the multiplier at AUTO.
Another thing...I don't know if the processor operates at 85ºC but my 2500+ Barton operates when idle at 46ºC. You mentioned that when you increased the FSB to 133 you got a temperature of 62ºC. I think that is a little on the high side. Is your heatsink installed properly? Do you have good airflow inside the case?

  • CPU Core Temps Gone With Genie - AMD 1090T + MSI 990XA-GD55

When I turn on Genie the core temperatures of the CPU only shows 0 degrees. Is this normal?

Thanks Hu. Please excuse me if I seem to be a noob. The fact is: I am!
Anyway I disabled Genie and manually set the CPU multiplier to x18. This is what I got.
The core temps are back. Don't know what to make of this.
Is Antec a bad PSU? I might have to consider ugrading that then.

  • JPW1 used on K7N2-Delta -AMD??

I need to know if i need to use the JPW1 connector on my mb(ATX 12V Power Connector), i was under the impression that it is for Pentium processors , but then why would it be on a AMD based mb , i have been running the system without it plugged in, but im wondering if i would see any benifits by using it??, or will it harm something if i plugged it in after running my system without it , for a few months???

K thank you for the info!  i have tried to find answers in the manual , but it didnt tell much about what to use or what not to use or why ,
oh and i guess i misunderstood your first post, i thought when u said that the 20 pin drew about 8a , about the load of the CPU , i thought u meant the 20 pin was sufficent, but thanks for clarifying , i will plug it in next time i shut off my pc .

  • Kt4v amd 2500+ no boot

from yesterday my bios wont boot. leds are on but nothing happen. after restarting the pc (2 or 3 times ) it boot. D-brachets lights are all red? what can i do?

You should have start from there !!!  You must clear CMOS so Bios will return to default options. If you want to o/c better post in " Overclockers & Modding corner page in this Forum. What options in Bios for CPU FSB did you set for o/cing ? Of course, you need Good PSU and good HSF but many Mobos aren't good for o/cing because increasing CPU clock, increases also PCI and AGP. Did your Mobo/CPU work OK before you o/ced ? It also would be good if you take off, clean, regrease and reseat CPU and HSF.
