Once reached 100%, could i resize the temp tablespace?If it's, what basis we need do it.
What view can use v$sort_usage or dba_free_Space or v$tempseg_usage?

You may not need to buy a new Time Capsule.
You can connect a USB drive to the Time Capsule, and use it in addition to the TC's internal HD. You may need a powered USB hub as well.
Exactly what is on your TC? If it's only Time Machine backups, you may not need to do anything -- Time Machine will delete the oldest backup(s) automatically when it needs room for new ones. But if you have more than about 250 GB on your internal HD, that 500 GB may not be large enough to keep backups long enough.
If you have other data on the TC's internal HD, besides your backups, you could back up to the external HD and use the internal for the other data, or vice-versa. But TM backups cannot "span" two drives, and you shouldn't mix backups and other data on the TC's internal HD.

My mac turns off when the battery reach full charge, what's wrong?

It was working all right, but
after a trip, the Mac didn't start, when i try to start the mac only with the battery,
Started normally, i worked that way for a few moments, then i start to charge the battery,
a soon the battery reached full charge the mac turns off and i couldn't restarted.
Again i try only with only the battery, everything was normal again.

Thinkpad L512 display doesn't reach full brightness

My 2 month old Thinkpad L512 display doesn't reach full brightness, except for a few seconds after bootup. Then it dims down to maybe 8 or so on a scale of 1-10. Which is often good indoors, but in a bright situation, I could use the extra screen brightness.
The screen correctly dims significantly (to maybe 2 or so on a scale of 1-10) after siting idle for a few minutes, as specified in the Power settings. But when it recovers, it is at full brightness for 10 seconds or so, then dims back down to 8 and stays there until I repeat the cycle.
I have poked around in the Display and Power settings, and the display is set to 100% there.
Any ideas? Thanks!

I had this problem with several of my machines. I noticed that if you unplugged the power and plugged it back in, the machine would jump back up to the brightest setting. But if you tried to adjust the brightness down and *then* back up, it would never reach the highest brightness.
I tried reinstalling the Power Management Driver and reinstalling Power Manager itself (both to no avail). I tried to downgrade to BIOS 1.20 but that didn't really have an effect either.
Finally, I downgraded to BIOS 1.19 and that resolved the issue. However, now I'm having an issue where the brightness changes two settings every time you hit the button (which was supposedly fixed in 1.20...though I had the same issue in 1.21).
I'm pretty frustrated with this machine. Hopefully the *next* BIOS resolves all of brightness related the issues...

Toshiba N205's processor temp reaches 76 c

Hi,
I just bought my N205 yesterday.
I noticed that the processor temp of my N205 reaches 76c at full load and 50c at idle (measured using HWmonitor).
Is it normal? or something is wrong with my N205?

I don't know if it is normal, but it doesn't sound bad for a laptop. If the heat gets too high, it should turn off to protect itself. Just keep the vents clear and free.

Temp segments full

Hi,
There is a report based on a select which includes several tables, views and an inner select. In the last several years, any date will give no more than a couple of hundred records except for one day in 2006 when there are almost 3,000 records, and November 8th of this year when there are over 7,000 records.
The report is fine except when it includes those two days. However, running the select in plsql is no problem at all (results within a couple of seconds). It is only in Discoverer where a message will come up that the temp segments are full.
Can anyone give me a suggestion as to what to look for in order that I can change the sql?

Thanks for responding. In the meantime I received a response from Metalink. Apparently the sql that is being formed by discoverer is different than the custom sql folder. I am supposed to run the sql that was executed in Discoverer in sql*plus. I am waiting for sql*plus to be installed in my computer at work.

Temp tablespace full at startup

Hi,
my temp tablespace appears full at database startup. I know it is full because the collecting statistics process can not be executed since temp tablespace can not grow (autoextend off). I had to add another temp datafile to get the statistics but first one continues full after each restart.
Is this any signal of malfunction?

ok. I think all is understood.
DBMS_STATS.GATHER_SCHEMA_STATS probably needed more disk than 1.5 GB (my old temp tablespace), so the result was

SQL temp database full

Ok here is the issue, I create a query that did a massive sort, so the hard disk that have that database become full, now What to do:
1. Restart the service and wait for the original database where the update was done to recover.
2. cancel it and wait (i dont know if cancel will work, because there is no space to do the cancel either).
3. other solution??
I can see using the query
SELECT SUM(unallocated_extent_page_count) AS [free pages],
(SUM(unallocated_extent_page_count)*1.0/128) AS [free space in MB]
FROM sys.dm_db_file_space_usage;
that there is still free pages and free space, but it doesn´t move on the time.

can I add and use it during the query process?
as I understood, in order to apply it, I need to restart the sql instance in order to be able to use modification of those db drive/space.
I cannot resrtar it while the query still on cancell process.
By the way, the temp db files was already divided to 4 drives and got them all. I use the button to cancel the query, like 6 hours ago, the query took 10 hours to fill those drives.
I don´t know if the cancelation will be done or not. I move some other files from one of the drives and it have 5 Gb to work now, but not sure if that´s enough.

As MSquelch suggested at this point of time adding a log file on separate drive would be best thing to do.After query finishes shrink the log file and then you would be able to shrink.If query is running it will not allow you to shrink the log file it will
hold the logs

Not reaching full charge?

As with all Apple products the iPhone's instructions clearly say that a plug symbol will appear in the battery area when a "full charge" is reached. It was charged overnight, about 8 hours, and still showed the lightning bolt, not the plug symbol.
What's up with that?

You're looking at the small battery at the upper right of the status line (not the large green battery). When completed it shows a "plug" inside the battery instead of a "lightning bolt".
As others have said, the last 20% of charge takes longer and works better in you use a power plug rather than connecting to the computer. Be patient and it will finish. If not, you may need to have Apple check it out.

Core temp reaching 80deg

Yesterday my machine reached 80deg core temp and crashed twice. apple hardware test seemed fine. can anyone help. im in an air conditioned room. any suggestions please.

yeah i check it cleaned out the dust. temp is something i check allot, because of previous machine and the load that goes on it. i was told by apple second level the temp should run at 45 - 60 degree c. otherwise it can damage the machine.

GTX 560 Ti scary temps on full load

I've had a N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II 2GD5/OC for quite a while now but I never happened to check the temperature before. So I did some benchmarks with the latest version of MSI Kombustor and it seems that the card gets very hot. The thing is, when it stays at 99% load for some time it just gets hotter and hotter. So I ran the GPU Burn-in test and it reached 95 degrees in 20-30 seconds. It was going higher but I stopped the benchmark. Then I thought I should test it with some games, maybe the benchmark stresses it too much. So I tried with GTA IV and I couldn't get it to stick at high usage but I took down some info. At 30% usage - 60 degrees, 60% - 70 degrees and after some time even at 40% usage it stayed at 70. So I fired up Racer Driver GRID(silly me, not so graphics power demanding game, right?) and at the start menu for some reason it got the card to work at full load for quite some time, and well... same results with the fans 100% of course. My room temperature is 25-30 degrees Celsius and those tests where done with both the sides of my case open. My PSU is a TG900-BZ Tagan(yeah I know 900 is overkill even for 2xGTX 560 Ti). I took a picture of the voltages and all that stuff: http://i.imgur.com/Sr8eP.jpg My motherboard is an AOpen i965Gm-IFM(worst part on my rig) [to be upgraded], CPU an Intel E6420(C2D 2.13GHz - about to be upgraded) and RAM a dual channel GEIL kit of 2GB CL 4 @ 800MHz and 1GB of some Kingston RAM same cas and frequency(I don't know the exact models though - about to be upgraded as well). I think the only reason my card isn't fried yet is because I haven't played any demanding games(since they also require a better CPU) that will stress my card.
EDIT: Also forgot to mention my screen resolution is 1366x768 @ 60Hz
EDIT2: And that I've got the 301.42 WHQL Certified drivers.

Graphics tablet Won't Reach Full Screen Anymore

I'm on Windows 7, it's a Genius tablet, not Wacom, the drivers are all up to date, and I already checked the settings in the Genius interface and can't find a fix. I've always been able to navigate the entire screen with the pen and tablet, including in Photoshop, so I have no need at all for a mouse, up until last night. This morning, I got on the computer again and now the pen and tablet can't reach the entire screen. It can go all the way to the top and left as usual but can no longer reach all the way to the bottom or right and this is true not just in Photoshop but in anything.
I didn't change anything from the time I shut the computer off last night to now so I'm not sure what's causing this. I tried reducing the screen resolution and that had no effect. Any ideas or should I just figure it's a weird hiccup that'll correct itself at some point?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Temp db full error

I have multiple insert statement which is causing tempdb getting full but i cannot take out this insert statements(inserting close to 10 Millions records in single insert statement). How to avoid this?

So i got a new wireless adapter with the rt2870 chipset.
I could only get it to work with Wireless N by installing the rt2870 package from the AUR. So at the minute i'm using the network daemon to connect without encryption. It uses a config from /etc/wireless/RT2870STA.dat, which contains the following:

The only way i get full wireless speed is by setting the WirelessMode to 6 or 7. I know this kind of setup is supposed to be depricated, but it's the only way i get full speed. Now i'm trying to use encryption, and for some reason it doesn't work by editing that RT2870STA file with the encryption info. So i tried netcfg, and it connects fine using WPA2, but i only get 54Mb/s instead of 270Mb/s, which i normally get. I assume this is because it doesn't touch that file anymore through netcfg.
So how can i get netcfg to set the wireless mode to N?
Oh and here's my netcfg profile:

I have a WLAN card that keeps connecting at 1Mbps. I can fix this using sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M.
Looking at the netfcfg wiki article, there is IWCONFIG and PRE/POST_UP/DOWN configuration variables. You could try setting the rate using the IWCONFIG setting. That's what I'm going to try after work today. I'll let you know how it works out.

Not reaching full capacity

I have a 20g iPod (w/ clickwheel) and am using iTunes 7.1. and I 18.75g of songs (4800ish) in my library (not sure if that includes Podcasts or not, I don't think so).
The last few times I did an auto-sync, I see only 3498 songs on my songlist and notice some artists missing...
I am not receiving any message saying that my iPod doesn't have enough room and do I want to create the iPod Selection playlist...
Any advice so that I can get my iPod to auto-sync to its fullest capacity?

Check how much room you have left on your iPod after an auto-sync.
By the way, if you did not know, after you format an iPod, the total capacity is NOT 20GB. It will actually be around 17GB or 18GB.
