Temp still high after all this

Well after my volcano 9 and artic silver 3 came in I installed them.  And the temps still are the same 69c idle and up to 85 under load.
My system is stable though, no bsod or anything at all.
k7n2-l
amd xp 2200
512 of 2100 ram
gainward gf4 4200 golden sample
32x burner
80 gig west digital 7200 special ed. 8 mg
sb live 5.1
420 watt ps,
chemming black server case
My old system, in my girls room
k7s5a mobo
amd xp 1800
temps on that are a rock solid 32c idle and 43 under load with stock heatsink
maxtor 7200 40 gig
16x dvd
ati radeon 9000 pro 128 meg
256 of 2100 ram
modded case with window and lights etc...
antec true ps 350 watts
both are running xp home ed, with sp-1
I took the 1800 out and put it in my msi board and get the same temps as above, then out and put it back in the k7s5a, and get the temps above.
Something has to be wrong with this k7n2 board.
But like I said never had a crash or and problems at all.
I just figured that getting the new fan and artic silver would help alittle bit on the temps, but i guess i was wrong.

I would not worry about it if you have and Volcano 9 on and the AC3 is given time to cure, you will be fine.
Take Care,

carcasswth,,

  • Parental control log viewer - still broken after all these years

I check this with every major OS X update. I know this has been a bug since 10.5, I think it goes back much further.
First, some background.  In all versions of OS X there's a "logs" feature that allows an admin to see the sites a user has visited. It's the primary way for an involved parent to teach wise computer use. Set parental controls to 'automatic', let the user go, then review the logs with your favorite teen.
Problem is, the log viewer only expands horizontally. So many entries can't be read. You see only the beginning of many site labels or URLs. The window control has been broken too -- it shows the normal resize control even though it only works in one direction.
So Apple fixed it in 10.7
Not the window mind you. They fixed the control. Now it shows the window can only resize vertically.
Yes. The engineer was in the code. And they left the window broken but fixed the control.
It's a conspiracy. Apple is trying to drive me crazy.
    I think it's working ...

    Thanks for your help!

  • Would like to upgrade to Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 from DNS 6 (which would also entail a necessary upgrade from Windows 2000 to 7) but understand after all this expense and trouble, DNS upgrade may not be compatible with Firefox 6?

    Question
Would like to upgrade to Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 from DNS 6 (which would also entail a necessary upgrade from Windows 2000 to 7) but understand after all this expense and trouble, DNS upgrade may not be compatible with Firefox 6?
Main priority is voice activation upgrade. Ideas about how to proceed appreciated!

AFAIK, it's been over three years since a WinXP laptop or desktop PC has been sold; I specifically bought a laptop in June 2008 because it was being clearanced by that retail chain to meet Microsoft's deadline, and got it real cheap. It was tagged for the store manager to purchase, but he let me have it because I exceeded his expectations for the services I performed for his store and thought I deserved it. Anything that wasn't made for Vista-compatibility will be very iffy with Win7, IMO - so that basically rules out anything that was made before like Oct or Nov 2007.
Unless another DNS 11 user happens to see this thread and can verify whether it works in Firefox 6.0 or not, I don't what to recommend except for you doing a web search to see what other DNS / Firefox users have to say about compatibility.

  • TS4148 What if this happens after all this has been done and checked!?

After all the trouble shooting advice and carrying out all checks what's wrong if this problem is still occurring even with iOS 6!?!?

  • G5 1.6 still freezing after all these years

Hi, I have this G5 1.6 for a long time and this is the issue:
After all diagnostics and two times recovered in the official Mac repair service (who suggested new motherboard and/or processor) my computer:
Freezes when I least expect and all I can say is that I might associate that with mouse usage which is not a Mighty one. it actually happens the same way with Mac and non-mac mouses. It seems to happen managing iTunes or iPhoto or scrolling images on Photoshop. Although not exclusively.
It works ok and suddenly it stops/freezes and after the first freeze it happens more regularly.
    Thank you very much,
    António

Have you tried another User out of interest?
It could Be RAM related, I noticed that your machine has 1.25 GB of ram, I am susspect the 2 x 128MB chips, as they seem to fail quite a bit. or even a graphics card, since your problem is when your using iPhoto, Photo shop and itunes, Quite heavy on graphics.

  • Still a mess after all this time

    This image says it all:

Say you are tired of login in over and over?
    Just a tadge.
Today, Jive's bug du jour seems to be to randomly truncate threads (i.e., I can't see past certain posts). It only does it with some threads, and only some of the time. Earlier today, I couldn't see the avatars. I almost passed out from the deprivation; my forum experience was less "rich" than I've become accustomed to!
(This is beyond pathetic. I hear Adobe is, like, a major software company, but to have this excrementious forum persisting in its excrementiality after months and months (and after many, many, many complaints) is.....um..... beyond pathetic!)
    I blame...... Bush!
(Sorry..... that just popped out. I really blame Obama. )
    (OK, I lied..... it's really Bill Clinton's fault! )

  • So how come after all this time, iPod touch still doesn't have a battery percentage option under the usage section...?

    Why????

    HI rjdfja,
Sorry to interupt Nickyizcool but the battey percentage feature is not available on the iPod Touch as it is with the iPhone and iPad.  Only Apple knows if it will be added in the future. If you like to leave them feedback about this, use the form on this page.

  • Temps Still High

    Hello again,
The problem is that i feel my system is still running hotter that it should.  My room temp is always around 20-22 c  and my case has the following cooling
    2 x  80mm front botton intake fans,
    2 x 80mm side intake fans,
    2 x 80mm rear back outlet fans,
    1 x 80mm top outlet fan,
1 x 120mm fan blowing the trapped air supplied by the 2 front bottom intake fans through the HDD housings.
Graphics card has a Outside Thermal Exhaust System so all the hot air from that goes straight out the rear.
The power supply has a uplift fan above the CPU.
    CPU fan details in sig.
NB cooled by a copper HSF with  silver paste between.
AS5 Ceramic used for CPU (follows AS instructions)
    Rimsinks on SB also.
Rounded cable for all HDD, CDD & FDD.
All other cable tidy and out the way.
Every thing is running stable at stock speeds.
Look at my sig for details of system.
With this much air i would have thought for better results than @ idle CPU is 47-49 Deg C and NB is around 40 Deg C. (at load only about a 5 Deg C increase)
You advice would be greatfully recevied,
    worf105

Thanks Toenne for the quick reply,
That has put my mide at rest.  Would you expect there to be only a small temp increase if i were to run a 200 FSB with only a small Vcore (if required to be stable).
    Thanks again,
    worf105

  • How is the iMac G4 performing after all this time?

I have a 1TB hard drive connected to an AirPort Express which have 2 500GB partitions, one for downloads, my itunes library and the other for time machine backups. I use this itunes library on my macbook, and is not working as expected. Sometimes all the artworks disappears and is very slow to manage the library without an ethernet cable connecting the PORTABLE computer on the AirPort... it's really boring. So, i want to buy a computer to use as iTunes & print/scanning server, but i don’t want to pay much for this.
The iMac G4 is an incredible beautiful machine which i wanted since i was 7 years old. I really want to buy a refurbished one, but i need to make sure that it can run iTunes 10 and OS X Leopard or the machine will be useless and a waste of money.

Be aware that all the PowerMacs are pretty much dead in the water for many modern web pages. The technology in those pages abandoned the "G" series processor long ago. I keep my G4 Tower limping along on the Web by using TenFourFox. Web sites see it as a reasonably current version of FireFox--newer than any version of FF that will run on a G-series--so you don't get all the "this browser is not supported" messages, but current versions of TenFourFox do not support plug-ins so you can't run Flash player, meaning no videos will play that rely on Flash.
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
If you go for a G4--they are indeed lovely to behold--I recommend going for the latest version with a 1.25Ghz processor. Theose also have USB 2.0 so are not so   sluggardly with backups to external drives. They can also    handle up to 2GB RAM with teh proper models.
    Here are my "big" caveats:
    1) The G4 iMac was never inteded to be user-serviceable. If you have to max the RAM, replace the hard drive or the optical drive, or even chenge a little $5 internal backup battery, it is a major teardown that is not one for the average user. Failing to reassemble to strict requirements can cause the computer to overheat and fail. If you are not up to the challenge and seek outsire help, be aware that Apple no longer will do any work on the G4 iMac.
    2) Software: Almost no new software will run on a G4 Mac. You will be searching for used packages contemporary with a 2004 computer. Office 2004 is the sweet spot for that one. However, Office 2008 will run on a G4, G5, or an Intel iMac.
    3) Check the chrome display arm carefully for proper movement and that it stays in place. After 10+ years, many are now rather "tired" and droop unattractively.

  • Still wonky after all the tests

I've posted this issue here and on the iMac5 discussion and still have the problem of periodically having my cursor make boxes around everything, the dock refusing to come out of hiding, having mail and firefox open but having to click on them for the top of the window to appear and more. I've run AHT, Applejack and reinstalled the OS and all to no avail. What's left?

what does "one touch silliness" mean?
For instance many drives have a button on the front to do automatic backups, avoid those... The WD My Books have had far less than glowing reviews for Macs...

Do I transfer everything to that drive and run from that drive only?
First I'd just do a fresh Install on the external Firewire Drive, boot from it by holding down the Option key at bootup, test if it still happens.
We can transfer things later if need be.

  • Whats going with itunes store ? after all this updates. win 7 64 bit store does not upload completly and very slow, no nav bar.

I re-installed itunes and by this i mean part by part itunes, quicktime and so on. Once I re-installed it looked like all was going well. I went to the store and upload like it use to before the upadtes. Than I pluged my Ipad2 no problem but I went to store once more the problem started agian the up-load  was very slow it didn't up load completly. the nav bar on the store page is missing no apps, music, books, tabs are all gone. I think it has to do  with the new itunes upates in the last few days. I also did the firewall and anti virus off step no fix and i'm running Norton 2011. Has itunes put any message on this ? Is it only window 7 64bit with the problem ? Oh one more thing I was getting a 3259 error but that looks like is good now, but it did take me a few days to download one book and one app the download is very slow.

    Hi,
I am using a Nvidia 4200M adapter in my Laptop, Driver 266.96, Direct X 11
In my desktop I am using an ATI XFX 6950, latest revision drivers (I am not at home right now so I cant get that info).
The issue I did describe above, but it was a long explanation.
In some flash games the game files load initially and get as far as the "click to start" button. Then the flash area usually goes either all white or all black (usually depending on the falsh game default background color) and then it stays that color. Cant see anything after hitting start (usually most games have an intro video or animation before the game starts, but I cant see any of it.
For the very few games that do start, the flash game or application does not seem to work correctly in that when the rare game starts, it wont save any game files or save files to the pc and so if I exit the game (navigate away to another page or close browser) and then later come back, even though I click the option to save games (and ensure that the flash application slider shows it can save files and lots of space) it does not save and I have to start from the beginning all the time.
    More explanation I gave above.

  • After all this... so far so good!

So, I did a Erase and Re-Install of Leopard. Repaired Permissions and then utilized my Diskwarrior as there were still a ton of things out of wack. Well, knock wood, all is well. I have all the buttons back in my Address Book (original issue) as well as Safari/Mail and am now re-importing all my music/photo's. Of course re-installing Final Cut Studio 2/iLife 08 took quite some time but all is smoking good so far.
Thanks to everyone for the help and patience.

    Hi,
As I known, vmsal.exe is known as Windows Virtual PC Application Launcher. This executable manages seamless applications.  You will have one instance of this executable running for each virtual machine that has seamless applications running.
If you encounter difficulties with vmsal.exe , you can uninstall the associated program (Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs) for a test.
You may try to start Windows XP Mode in Safe Mode. If it works, please try to check it in clean boot:
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state

In addition, Check the link mentioned below as a reference.

If the issue persists, I also would like to suggest you uninstall and reinstall Windows XP Mode to check the result.

  • Still Crazy After all these attempts......Can't remove an item from Trash

PREVIOUSLY POSTED (TWICE!) I've got a file stuck in the trash that won't go away. The trash will empty but that file never goes away. I can't move the file out of the trash, nor can I rename the file. The file name is a bunch of weird forward slashes and I have no idea where it came from. If I add files to the trash and them empty it, the new files will be emptied but not this weird file. I have tried everything I can think of...Secure Empty Trash, downloaded "What's Keeping Me" software,WhatsOpen software, Trash It! software, Growl, Main Menu (admittedly not sure how Growl WhatsOpen, Trash It! work)..... nothing works!
Don't have any other hard drives....do have Word for Mac and Flip4Mac but don't have any other Window applications (Quicktime is not Windows, right?) - it's pretty much 100% Apple
Any suggestions on how to get rid of this pesky file?
Have received lots of suggestions but still have the file!! Doesn't seem to impact the computer's operation but now it has become personal - me vs. "the file" ....and the file is winning.
    Bob

I've seen two things that absolutely can not be removed from the Trash, no matter what, from a Mac. The first is a file that is a result of having a Windows install, as in Boot Camp, where one needs to boot into Windows and run its version of repair disk. The second case involves Windows, but indirectly. It is possible for Windows users to name a file using illegal (in Mac and UNIX) characters, and for a Mac user to get this file, usually by downloading. Neither the Mac Finder nor Terminal could cope with the illegal characters in the file name and the file will stay until the disk is reformatted. One of the latter cases I remember was a song by ABBA which someone got from a friend in Iceland. It's been awhile since I last saw this problem reported. A notorious example was a file from Adobe in Vietnamese, in the Legal folder. Trashing the Adobe application left this file in the Trash. In that case if one booted from the OS install disk and ran Repair Disk, then rebooted, the Trash could then be emptied. If the file is driving you nuts, you might try that. It might work for your file too.
