Temp very low but fans all the time

I just got my machine back from repair and i gues they took to heart that it was running hot. They fixed it but the fans are always on. I never heard the fans before at all, i don't think they were coming on. But I think they put some turbo prop blades in there now. Machine is very very fast now and very very cool, but sounds like a constant swoosh noise. Please tell me this can be corrected WITHOUT returning?

Do you actually hear the fans or do you hear a constant sound like an airstream or water running through a thick pipe? I was told (and read in another thread) that it is the harddrive spinning. When the fans really spin up, it is a very distinct noise. When you run the Extended Hardware Test (insert the Mac OS X disc 1, reboot hand hold D pressed until an icon appears on the screen) both fans will spin up eventually (towards the end of the test). So when you suddenly hear a fan considerably louder than usual, you are not hearing the fans all the time but "just" the harddrive / airflow through the grills (which can be pretty annoying as well, in my opinion).

First boot into recovery and select Disk Utility>First Aid and repair the disk.
If there is no improvement, perform a Safe Boot:

If there is an improvement, then third party applications are probably the cause of the problem.

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

  • HT1338 Is there a Mac System Clean-up? My computer is running very slow and freeze all the times

I don't know why my computer is running very slow and keeps freezing all the times.  It would take at least 2-3 min to load up after the not using it for 5 min.  For instance when I type my paper or doing anything on the computer and leave for a fews min after come back it would not start and the icon keeps on spinning.
    Thanks

Pretty much all "clean-up" utilities will just make things worse.
You need to determine what it is that is causing the problem.
How much RAM do you have?
For the following, report what you get when the system is running slow and beachballing.
Open Activity Monitor (Utilities folder) and click on System Memory tab at the bottom of the screen. What does it say for Page Outs?
Also, at the top of the window, select All Processes. Click on the %CPU header until the arrow points down. Anything pop up at the top of the list that is using a very high percentage of CPU?
What you describe can be caused by incompatible third-party software. Boot into Safe mode and see if the problems still exist. Safe mode will be a little slower than normal, but you shouldn't see the system freeze up.

  • Qosmio F60 fan all the time 80-90%

Hello, my fan seems to be on all the time and it is always at 80-90%.
I am just running a spyware scan and have my IE open...CPU is at 70%...
What is wrong with this laptop?

    Hey,
    > I am just running a spyware scan and have my IE open...CPU is at 70%...
If you run a spyware scan, high CPU Usage is normal because all files on HDD will be checked for such spyware so nothing is unusual.
Generally speaking fan activity is depending on hardware usage. If you run such spyware search programs or other programs they causing high usage, its normal that fan also runs on high level because the hardware needs to be cooled to protect it from hardware damages.
As Paolo30 wrote you can try to clean the cooling modules from time to time. Maybe it can help you.
Also try a different cooling method. You can change between different cooling methods in Windows power management.
    Check this!!!

  • [SOLVED] Loud Fan All the Time

Hello everyone, I'm trying to troubleshoot my laptop and was hoping someone may have some insight. I have a Latitude E6410 with Intel graphics, Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and I'm using KDE. My fan seems to want to be on high most of the time, and I'm not really sure why.
For a bit of background, I was using Kubuntu on this laptop for about a month, and stopped using Kubuntu and went back to Arch this week. With Kubuntu, I didn't have this problem, but I prefer Arch over Kubuntu, and the Kubuntu experience wasn't all that great but that's another story.
The fan seems to have two levels, slow and fast. It's always on slow at least. When it starts up, it will run fast for a few seconds at the Dell logo, and slow down to slow. Once Arch loads, it goes to fast and stays there most of the time. Sometimes the fan will slow down to the slow speed, but only for a few seconds before it runs fast again.
Here are the things I tried:
    * I checked my CPU usage, and each core is anywhere from 0-8% in use.
    * I doublechecked cpufreq to make sure it's running, and it is. Each core is running at 1199mhz most of the time.
    * I followed the wiki and installed lm_sensors. The temps are 114f and 111.2f (46c and 44c respectively) which should be reasonable.
By all intents and purposes, the fan speed shouldn't be so high given what I've found during my troubleshooting. I'm hoping one of you guys may hold an answer for me.

I've done some further troubleshooting on this, and here are my results so far.
First of all, I used Windows 7 on this laptop for a few days and also tested Kubuntu, and both didn't have an issue. Both seemed to operate normally.
The problem with my Arch Linux install has actually gotten a bit better, but the problem is still present. Today for example, my fan kicked on high speed and the temp grew to about 160F when I checked it. The culprit that time was npviewer.bin, which was eating a ton of processor. I killed it, and the temperature dropped to about 120F, and about five minutes later the fan slowed down. This seemed pretty normal.
Then again, during the same use session, the fan kicked on high once when the temperature was in the 120's, which previously was the temperature (or slightly below) that caused the fan to slow down last time. At the time, I had chromium and several konsole windows open. I don't understand why that would cause the fan to kick on high speed.
Later on, the temp went up to somewhere above 130F with only chromium open, and the temperature was continuing to rise, then the fan came on and cooled it down. I found it weird that one Chromium window, and 1% of CPU, would cause the CPU temp to steadily rise like that.
Now, as I type this sentence, with the said Chromium window open, the processor temp is hanging around 115F and the fan is on high. About 12% CPU is being used overall. And even with the temp around 115F, the fan isn't stopping. It just keeps going. Previously, the fan slowed down at 120F. Now, it just seems like it's intent to keep the fan going for no apparent reason.
When I first created this topic, I was using Virtualization (I had a Windows 7 VM running) so I could kind of understand the high fan while running two operating systems at the same time, but even after closing the VM, the fan NEVER slowed down (which is what prompted me to create this topic). In that use cycle, I waited about 30 minutes for the fan to slow down. It never did.
The problem here is that I can't really point the finger at any one thing.

Now the laptop completed 14 months and I did recovery lots of time because of the problems and stuck I have from it.
last day I did the recovery and I noticed that the laptop become more and more slowly !!!
it takes about 5 minutes to start !!!!!!! not just that,,,after started and open any folder you will notice how slowly it is. Even videos I can't open it because the laptop will stuck and play the video very very slow!!

    Hi
First of all I would recommend checking the HDD for errors HDD malfunction might affect the computer performance you should check the HDD using the freeware toolsone of the tools which I use is the Drive Fitness Test it was posted several times here in the forum and its really great software.
If the HDD would be ok and if no error would be detected, then I would recommend disabling some processes which are not important for you in many cases different tools would be loaded during the OS boot procedure and such tools run in the background which slow down the OS.
Start msconfig and check the Startup Tab
Here you will see all the software which is loaded at the beginning you can uncheck not necessary tools
Note: if you are not sure what the single process means, use google and search in internet for more details otherwise dont disable this.

  • Error 4280 when trying to burn a CD...but not all the time

    Hi,
I hope someone can help me.
I have never had issues before but in the last few days it has been HORRIBLE.
I have brand new CDs to burn to and sometimes I get an error to insert a blank disc(how can it not be it is brand new)
Other times I try to burn a disc and get:
"the attempt to burn a disc failed an unknown error occured(4280)
I have deauthorized and reauthorized my PC. Some of the songs I am burning are ones I loaded from a CD that I had burned one before with NO problems.
I have wasted at least 10 CDs in the last few days trying to get this to work.
I have checked EVERYWHERE for a list of Error Code numbers but I can find it anywhere.
It will check playlist then start to "write" a song and it stops.
ANY help would be appreciated I am seriously losing my mind!!
I made sure I had the latest version of ITunes and upgraded last night to be sure and I am the admin on my PC and I am the only one that uses it.
I was able to burn one this AM and then the next one the errors happened again.
I have seen a lot of fixes that ask if my drive is
    Sony CD-RW/DVD CRX830E model drive
It is not when I did the diagnostic to figure out my drive I get this(and I have tried burning as low as 4X
The last failed audio CD burn had error code 4280(0x000010b8). It happened on drive F: PHILIPS CDD4851 CD-R/RW on CDR media at speed 8X.
Is there ANYONE that can help or at least point me in the correct direction
    Thank you

I've done a little bit of searching on google and had no idea that this problem has been happening for YEARS... The ONLY solution I saw was for this Sony Driver, which i'm sure everyone here already seen... I haven't had any problem burning until iTunes 8.0...
Anyway, I tried that (Sony Drive), even tried the RegCure (whatever) but it wasn't exactly "Free", so that was a dead end... I even tried lower burning speeds...still nothing... As you know, I have two discs left to burn for a friend...
I just gave up on iTunes and burned it with my Windows Media Player... Just lucky for me, I burn all my purchases from iTunes to an Audio CD in case something happens to my CPU (also so I can import to my Xbox 360)... And once I do that, I re-import them so I can listen to the albums on my WMP...
But as I was saying, I just used my WMP to burn the album that wouldn't burn in iTunes... After everything burned fine, I went back to iTunes for the other disc and suprise, suprise...it burned without any problem... WTH, right?¿?
It may have something to do with the discs i'm using... Because I inserted a Maxell Pro discs to "test" the burn out in iTunes... It burned without a hitch (before I used the above method) but because of this, I only let it burn for 5 seconds; because it usually cancels out in 3 from the error... I was only trying to test the burn, and was surprised that it started burning... It was a better quality discs and I didn't want to burn the album that I was testing on it... I tried to cancel but 5 seconds was too long...ruined the disc.. lol
So for clarity the disc i'm getting the error with is a Memorex disc... And its possible that they are to cheap...which was pointed out during my research online... But the problem with that theory is, I already burned 12 discs using those Memorex discs; so why NOW do I constantly get the error?¿? I couldn't be, totally the fault of disc quality...but then again who knows...
All I know is, as of now...I was able to burn another CD on iTunes after burning 1 from WMP first... Since I don't have anything else to burn (or that I want to) at the moment; as far as I know, i'm just waiting to get the error again... Which from my history could be 4-6 more disc down the line...
Another possibility could be that I actually burned the CD when I had WMP open... Maybe iTunes burning needs a "crutch" to be free from the error and after you burn one; you can burn a few CD's without worry of the error...
Sorry to be throwing so many "theories" out there, but having something to work on, is better than nothing... Once I have other CD's to burn, i'll come back with an update and tell you how many burns I got with iTunes before I got the error again...
    Disclaimer:
This is just my experience... I realize that many people have tried all sorts of CD-R discs and different burning software/hardware/whatever and they still get an 4280 error... I'm not trying to create false hope, as i've seen being pointed out from frustrated users...
So to summarize, individual results may vary... :P

  • Lightswitch HTML Client 2013 - Navigation property load works Intermittently on phone, but works all the time in desktop browsers

    Hi,
I have this code which is adding a record and re-loading a navigation property "ldDailyLogDetails_FK".
    afterClosed:
    function   (viewScreen, navigationAction) {
                    if
      (navigationAction === msls.NavigateBackAction.commit) {
                          screen.ldDailyLogDetails_FK.load();
It successfully adds a record and then redisplays this new record on all browsers, but on my phone it adds the record ok, but sometimes, it dosnt seem to refresh (or load) the page with the new record.
I also wonder if there is any place I might go to get some "phone vs desktop browser" information and advice?
I have tried screen.ldDailyLogDetails_FK.refresh(); as well.

    Hi David,
From your description above, it seems that this issue happens occasionally. At the same time you can also use some tool to test your lightswitch application, such as:
Fiddler, it will be helpful to troubleshoot.
    Best regards,

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price

  • Migration/Live Migration fails with shared storage (SMB), but not all the time

I have 2 Hyper-V Hosts using shared storage via SMB. I'm having intermittent issues with migrations failing. It'll either go through the motions of doing the whole move and fail and/or when I try to start it again I get the following:
I've done a lot of reading on this and have done various things that have been recommended. For each Hyper-V host I've setup delagation via Kerberos. ie. HV_Host1 has CIFS - HV_Host2; CIFS - SMB Server; MS Virtual System Migration Service - HV_Host2 and
    vice versa.
On the actual SMB share on the Shared Storage server I added permissions to the folder for HV_Host1, HV_Host2, Storage Server, Domain Admins and my user account for full access.
In Group Policy, I've blocked Inheritance for the OU containing the Hyper-V hosts, though I have added some of the Group Policy's manually that I needed.
Last thing, I also added Domain Admins to the Local GP on each Host for "Log on as a Service" and "Impersonate a client after authentication" as shown in this thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/windowsserver/en-US/7e6b9b1b-e5b1-4e9e-a1f3-2ce72ea1e543/unable-to-migrate-create-vm-hyperv-cluster-2012-logon-failure-have-to-restart-the-hyperv
I get these failed migrations regardless if I start them on the actual Host or via the admin console from Win8.
At this point I'm not sure what else to check or the next step to take for this.

  • Fan runs all the time after upgrade to 10.4

Upgraded to 10.4 about a week ago and now the fan runs all the time. I lowered the processor to reduced performance because the fan noise was very loud. Doing this lowered the fan speed but did not stop it. Memory usage is not a problem, shows 75% free.
Before 10.4 was using 10.3 fan ran at times but never all the time.
    Any ideas.

Tom, have you down loaded an app like "X Resource Graph", I think I got it at VersionTracker, which will tell you what fan is running at high enoug rpm's to generate noise. Plus it will give you cpu usage and temps plus hard drive temps. If its the cpu fan and the cpu is really working, go to the Activity Monitor in the utilities file and see what app is causing the problem. I don't know what to do if it's the hard drive or system fan. My system fan rarely goes over 1800 rpm, my hard drive stays between 2000 and 2200 but my cpu fan will accelerate when its under pressure to to over 3000 rpm. I just start hearing the cpu fan when it gets to 2400 rpm.
