Temperatures

Just wondering why my system temperatures are so high. Cpu on the other hand is good at 93/34 degs F/C. No matter what I do both CoreCentre and (more accurate) MBM5 shows 91/33 degs F/C. This is after 10 mins idling (not overclocked) and a room/ambient temperature of 68 or 69 degs F.
Any ideas ?

I have some good news. I found one dead hot spot on my computer ! It is on the top rear right side of my computer. I just now finished the hole and mounted and powered  a 80MM fan. A minor problem but I had to mount the fan ON TOP of case which means I had to cut another small hole for the power leads to go down into the case.
Case/System temperature now is steady at 82F/28C. This also improved the CPU temps slightly to 91F/33C. Total fans used so far: one 6 inch 110 volt 15 watt (unknown RPM and CFM) at the bottom forcing air to top, one 90MM 12 volt fan near top middle forcing air out and one 80MM 12 volt (described above) also at top exhausting air to top. I have no side facing fans (I call them side winders) except of course the Zalman CPU HSF. I am going to look for one more hot spot. When I find it and cure it then I am declaring this Computer Summer ready.
In case anyone wondered I also have a Shuttle AK31 mobo with AMD XP1500+. It also is mounted in a Aluminum case with 400 watt power supply. Its temps are Case/System 77F but CPU at 95F. Its higher CPU temp can be blamed on standard aluminum Heat sink with 80MM smart fan. It is 2 years old and I am tinkering with the idea of upgrading it to a AMD "Thorton" XP2400+ and since the Zalman has performed so well on the Athlon 64 I think I will upgrade the HSF to a Zalman copper 6000 (four mounting holes near the ZIFF socket 'A' instead of the MSI K8T neo's two).

  • How can I correct for 2 different color temperatures in one image?

    Hi,
In indoor architectural photography one may encounter mixed color temperatures in one image. If one could use gels and lamps to replace incoming natural daylight and force a uniform color temperature (for instance tungsten) then the problem would go away. Yet, sometimes this is not possible or practical and I was exploring what could be accomplished within Photoshop. Here is my proposal ( or beginning of it):
    shoot RAW
generate 2 versions of the image, each corrected for one of the color temperatures present (say WB dropper in "should be neutral" area where daylight dominates and another WB dropper in "should be neutral" area where tungsten dominates)
open them in Photoshop and move one of them as a layer on top of the other version
Try to blend the two layers
in one example, I used Hue blending mode and the photo fixed itself!! However this is not generalizable to other images
I also tried BlendIf for harder images but with no success
I presume selection is then a must which brings up the question:HOW CAN I SELECT DEPENDING ON COLOR TEMPERATURE? I mean, the layer where WB = daylight looks orange-casted in the areas where the main light source is tungsten, while the layer where WB = tungsten looks blue-casted in the areas lit mainly by sunlight. I must believe there should exist a best approach to select say the blue-casted areas or the orange-casted areas, and that approach should be simple if it somehow takes into consideration the predominant cast. I have tried Select Color Range but not very successfully. I just feel there must be a simpler way, taking advantage of the present casts.
    Masks seem also useful
All feedback will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Juan

If you want to use multiple keepalives for a service, you must use a script. The alternative would be to create 2 content rules, and 2 sets of services, one for port 80 (or whatever) and one for port 443 (or whatever), and use http for one and ssl for the other.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR temperature issues

    Dear All
I have concerns with regard to the potential case/temperature rises as summer rapidly approaches. As the above MB has only two fan connectors I am looking at alternative ways to increase the potential connectors
With this in mind I am looking at using Y-splitters on the power cables and then a fan multi-connector cable, but does anybody know if the use of such splitters hugely impares the performance or supply of power.
Sorry to use this board for this but the question relates to the MB
    Thanks in advance

each of those fans will have a current rating and draw from the +12 volts. If you figure the 12 volts needs to have at least 16 amps to run the system and should have around 18 amps to be safe then subtract the fan current from the 22 amps your supply says it puts out and fan away.

Hi, what is the normal temperature for NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT when on notebook I use only word, or some programs, no play games.

Quote from: Mike on 01-February-10, 11:02:34
normal depends on the environment, the ambient temperature.  Is it hot where you use it?  Do you use it on a hard surface or place it directly on your lap or some cloth type surface.  There are quite a number of variables.  What temperatures are you noticing?
if I work with word or use internet the temperature is about 55*C

  • K9N Platinum - Wrong CPU Temperature in BIOS

Hi, I have a K9N Platinum (7250-020) with the latest 1.3 BIOS and an AMD X2 3800+. The CPU Temperature in the BIOS has a negative sign in front of it, and it seems to always report -48*C. I tried the latest nVidia nTune and it was reporting the CPU temperature to be 208*C, which is absolutely impossible...
Does anyone have the same problem? I searched around and it seems I'm not the only one, but I still cannot understand if it affects only some K9N Platinums or all...
    Thanks.

I assume you are talking about checking voltages as reported by the BIOS in the HW Monitor page, not physically checking them with a multimeter, correct?
I'll take a look at the numbers in the BIOS, but last time I checked they were ok.
As for raising the issue with MSI, eventually I will, even if they ask you soooooo many questions (for good reasons, I know...) that it would take me half an hour to fill that form...
I've checked with both and software is a little out from what a multimeter state's. Only check with a multimeter if your happy to do so. http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?t=137886 offer good advise if using a multimeter .....
The only issue I see is the AUX connector for 3.3v with ATX2.0 spec (Modular cables etc)

  • USB-6009 Temperature Acquisition

    Hi All
I seem to have some brain fade today. I need to use the USB-6009 to with a J type thermocouple. When I hook it up the temperature is not correct and widely varies. I am getting reading from 0 to 60 C at room temperature. I need to incorporate this into another circuit for testing. I assume that I am overlooking the simple and obvious. I have tried using a DAQ Assistant and a DAQmx. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Gerald

    Hello Gerald,
You don't have a brain fade! I recently got in a few usb-6009's and am seeing a similar response when trying to measure temperature with thermocouples.
I don't believe this is noise as much as resolution on the usb-6009. At this point I have added resistors to bring down noise but am seeing the same "waver" that you describe (although not quite as extreme). I am looking into building a signal amplifier or alternatively purchasing a  TAC80 thermocouple-to-analog converter for use with the usb-6009.
Have you had any progress with your issue?

I cant find any threads or sites that define idle temp for this cpu and graphic card,
in normal stance and high performance/ playing games.
I have an extra cooler (link: http://www.mimovrste.com/artikel/2210016012/hladilnik-za-prenosnik-akasa-ak-nbc-02b ) underneath the laptop. It does help much but still its running on *53C* (celsius) while surfing the internet.
Without that cooler its around 60C. It sounds strange to me.
When i play games on high performance the core temp goes to *63C*, without that xtra coller *+80C!!!!!!*
I clean the heat sinks every 1 month with a huge compressor :)
I dont let any dust in there. I have the laptop like a year now runs great, but still Im interested whats the temperature of our similar models.
I had some "turn off problems" when i didnt have the extra cooler, but now it runs great, but still im not convinced its the "normal" temp. :S

  • Satellite X205-S9349 - Question about GPU temperature

    Hi,
I purchased an *Satellite X205-S9349* approx. 10 months ago an recently installed a temperature monitor for the nVidia 8700M GT card. While using 3d modeling applications I recorded the average temperature at *97 degrees Celsius*.
Idling the computer results in a temperature of *60 degrees*. The computer is present in an air conditioned room, who's average temperature is *19 degrees*.
Is this the normal operating temperature of the X205-S9349 when on full load?
Can this temperature damage my computer?
Is there anything I can do to reduce the temperature without voiding the warranty provided by Toshiba?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pabst
PS: I have propped the back of my computer up so that air can easily flow through the bottom.

    Hello Pabst
In my opinion there is no reason for panic. If you use original Toshiba display driver your notebook is protected and if the notebook will come up to critical temperature level it will shut down automatically to avoid hardware damage.
This with propping back side is great idea. Sometimes I do the same. The notebook can be cooled much better. And one more thing: do not believe always what those third part applications show.
    Good luck!

  • Satellite P300D-10V - Turn off by high temperature

    Hi!
I have a TOSHIBA Satellite P300D-10V and I have a problem with overheating! When I load my CPU with 2,2 GHz for a long time, it turn off by high temperature!
What must be my solution about this problem?
"Normal" temperature for my laptop is around 70 - 75 degrees cslsius! Is it normal for this CPU?
I have used another laptop with Intel CPU and there is no such problem! My Toshiba is in use for 2 years! OS Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
    REGARDS!

    Hi alexander79,
First of all you should know that cleaning the fan is not covered by warranty!!! Of course you can do this from an authorized service provider but for this service you have to pay, its not free!
More detailed instructions you can find in this how to article from Toshiba:
[How to clean the cooling system of a Toshiba notebook? |http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]
As you can read, the notebook should be cleaned every 3-4 months and believe me, you will be very surprised how much dust come out ;)
Last but not least its also important that you only use display drivers from Toshiba.
I had also a problem with overheating and this was caused due a wrong display driver (I used the drivers from nVidia page). They are not pretested and dont have an overheat protection The result was overheating and turning off.
After installation of Toshiba display driver the problem was solved.

  • Satellite M40-244 stops suddenly - cooling/temperature issue?

    Hello everybody!
For about 1 week, my laptop M40-244 has become unable of cooling itself! So, off course, more and more often, it stops suddenly in order to avoid damage. I'm sure this problem is triggered off by cooling, simply in touching the left side of the key board it's easy to me to feel the high temperature 8-(
My QUESTION is : is it possible for me to avoid repairing???
I'm in Shanghai, I can not phone without expensive fees, and surprisingly I did not find in Toshiba website any way to contact a Toshiba support by e-mail (if anyone knows a way, please tell me!)
Because it is very curious : my laptop is "8-months-old", never this kind of problem until now and Toshiba is wellknown for a good system of cooling. Recently, my laptop has not known any shock. Would it possible that the fan has suddenly stopped working well?
So, I tried to "check" my laptop, but the installation of Speedfan failed, and Motherboard Monitor 5 seems unadapted to the M40-244, it is totally unable of finding any board sensor! Now, I have seen in some forums and website the possibility of the "underclocking", or a way of "reinitializing" the fan from the BIOS, but, oula!, I'm not a specialist! What does it mean? It is possible with a notebook or it is only possible with a PC?
Here we go! So, I can go to a Toshiba store and I have warranty, but it is bound to mean 1 week without my laptop and professionaly it is extremely ennoying for me!
Sorry, I'm a bit long, and sorry for my English (I'm French!), but IF ANYONE KNOWS A WAY THAT ENABLES ME TO SOLVE THIS COOLING PROBLEM BY MYSELF, please tell me!
    Thanks in advance,
    Fred

    Hi Fred
The vacuum cleaner cleaning procedure is not bad and very easy but you have to do it careful. But if it doesn't help you should contact the Toshiba service partner.
The fact is that your notebook is covered by warranty and if there is a serious problem with the cooling module and the fans the service partner should check it.
If you will click on this link you will find the list of the Toshiba ASPs:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true
Additionally you should check the settings in the Power saver because this Toshiba tool controls the usage of the CPU and the cooling method.
    good luck

  • Problem with MSI X58 Platinum SLI - IOH temperature !

    Hi guys.
    I have this PC configuration:
    - MSI X58 Platinum SLI ( Bios Version 3.8 - http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/6707/161020101249.jpg )
    - Intel Core i7 930 2.80 GHz box ( with Intel Turbo Boost running sometimes at 3.06 Ghz )
    - MSI GeForce GT240 1GB DDR5 128-bit HDMI
    - Corsair 6GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 XMS3 Triple Channel Kit ( sets to AUTO and running at 1066 Mhz )
    - Corsair CMPSU-750TXEU
    - Ordinary case ( http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/4200/161020101246.jpg & http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/8480/161020101247.jpg ).
    - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
I bought my PC components 2 months ago, so they are new.
    Now, guys I think that is a problem with my motherboard. When I turn on the computer in Bios I have this temps: CPU – 30 C (86 F); IOH – 71 C (159 F); System 30 C (86 F) - http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/394/161020101242.jpg. After 2 minutes the temperatures are: CPU – 34 C (93 F); IOH – 82 C (179 F); System 41 C (105 F) and 2 more minutes later the temperatures are: CPU – 34 C (93 F); IOH – 84 C (183 F); System 43 C (109 F). After 30 minutes of doing nothing I have this temps: CPU – 35 C (95 F); IOH – 85 C (185 F); System 42 C (107 F) -
Guys it is normal with IOH temperature ? I am a little worried about it ( to be honest I am more than “a little” … I am worried a lot ).
Ok, I know I don’t have a good case but in 3 weeks I should receive this Thermaltake Spedo Advance Case (http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1121&ID=1829) and I will buy a new CPU cooler ( I don’t know yet wich one – maybe Corsair CWCH70 or Noctua NH-D14 but I have to see the case first … to be sure there is a plenty of space for those coolers ).
Pls help me with that IOH temperature. It is normal ? What if I intend to make a little OC ( lets say CPU to 3652 Mhz and RAM to 1333 Mhz … but also I will ask for your support ! ) my motherboard will burn ?
If it is necessary I will contact my retailer and send him back the motherboard but … I like MSI a lot.
Thx guys for your support !

    Hey guys,
Here is a nice cheap alternative.
Here is my story about the same issue.  I found it after looking at why my computer freezes sometimes. Not very often but enough for me to do some investigation.   I noticed my IOH temp was a whopping 117 degrees Celsius. lol.  Surprised my mobo didn't burn out by now.  I wanted to evaluate the situation with the heat sink and decided to take it off.  After taking it off I found extremely crusty purple compound on board the chipset and the heatsink.  I took me FOREVER to scrape it off. it was almost like a cement which I found odd.  After scraping and cleaning the surfaces with alcohol, I placed some silver compound on and proceeded to put it back on.
Well, upon hooking everything back up I was still at 95 to 103 degs.   Now I started to really look at the options to replace this.  I had SLI config which means I had to do something clever with the southbridge as well.  A nice thermaltake chipset solution w/fan and a low profile copper southbridge with shipping was about 45 bucks.  Hmm ... This is a sure fix from the threads I have read and its really kid of expensive to fix a simple defect. the problem is not necessarily with the heatsink not being sufficient.  Its the combo of the compound used vs the amount of pressure applied between the heatsink and chipset.  It was completely unacceptable.  I knew this right away when I was watching the temp and then I would press on the top of the IOH heatsink and I would watch it drop another 15 degrees in less then 10 seconds. The springs are extremely weak and not effective at all in transferring the heat from the NB.
Here if my fix.  Cost me less than a dollar at the hardware store and it works ideal thus far.  Do this at your own risk.  Doing this will probably void any warranty too.   All my problems are solved and I am running at 57 degrees, YES, 57 degrees with the stock heatsink and no additional cooling.
For one scrape all that old crap off like I did. Apply your new compound. But when you go to replace your heatsink, use the following method.  The trick is to use metal screws with a mobo washer, original springs from the plastic studs and a nylon locknut.  Use screws that are the same diameter and length (maybe a tad bit longer) as the plastic retainer studs.  Also grab a few of those red nylon mobo washers too, were gonna need them as well.
After scraping and applying compound, reassemble as follows.  Screw with washer inserted into the back of the mobo so the threads are out front.  The plastic/nylon washer is betweeen the screwhead and the back of the mobo as a insulator. Put the heatsink on. With the threads thru the heatsink already, put the springs on and start spinning on the locknut.  I torqued the nut down on the spring until the spring almost became fully compressed.  The purpose of the spring here is really to prevent you breaking something and at the same time using the max force of the spring since it weak to begin with. Thats why we need to compress it down pretty much all the way. There will be little to no room in the spring at this point.  The heatsink at this point should be pretty solid to the board as well.  I noticed with the plastic studs before the heatsink would wobble if you gave it a little rocking back and forth before.  Not this time. Shouldn't move much if at all.  Remember not to torque down too much. You don't want to go beyond the springs compression. Even if you did by accident, its better then not using a spring at all. If you feel that it starts to feel tight when torquing, you torqued too far. Stop an backup a 1/4 turn or so.  It is also very important to make sure both torques are equal on both sides as well. Alternate sides when torquing down.  I could tell by how much thread I had left on both sides and by looking for any uneven sides.
To summarize, the compound is a problem no doubt.  After you resolve the compound issue, its all about the adequate pressure between the heatsink and the IOH.  Much like the amount of pressure needed between your CPU and your heatsink give or take. And the pressure that would be as an aftermarket solution like the thermaltake chipset cooler. You dont see cheesy springs on that.  Wake up MSI. Simpy using a more effective spring could save MSI some cash in the long run. I envision a leafsprin design like the thermaltake chipset one.  The heatsink design could be better, sure, but the design itself is not the problem. Replace the heatsinks if you would like to, if your overclocking and stuff.  Funny, this board I have is a refurb too and only had it for a few weeks. Figured they would have done something about it.
Sorry the pics are not the best. Here is about as close as I could get to the finished product

  • My iPad mini won't work at room temperature.  I have to warm it up in my hands/arms for 2-3 minutes before the screen works correctly.  Anyone else have this issue or know a solution?

Two or three weeks ago, I had a cracked screen replaced on my iPad Mini 2 with retina display (32G).  It worked perfectly for 2-3 weeks, so I don't know how relevant the screen repair is.  Anyway, the iPad is currently running iOS 8.1.3.  I completely reset it because I want to sell it, but recently, the screen display started to have issues.  One afternoon I turned it on and the screen was a faint gray with vertical streaks that went away after I turned it off then back on.  That night, the screen would stay black when I tried to turn it on.  It was a different black to being off, though.  When I try to turn it on it changes to a brighter black, if that makes sense.  I can see a change in the shade of black, but there's no color or app icons.  The sound works even when the screen doesn't.  The only way I can get it to turn on properly is if I hold it in my hands/arms for 2-3 minutes.  I think the heat from my hands has something to do with it.  It's just weird that regular room temperature seems to be too cold.  We've had a cold winter in NY this year and my iPad may have spent 1-2 hours in my cold car the day this happened, but I can't say for sure.  Has anyone else heard of this issue or does anyone have a solution?

    I Also have this problem!!
In my situation, the screen simply started exhibiting the same symptoms a few weeks ago (early February) for no apparent reason.  At first I thought the screen was dead, but discovered the heat solution by accident.  Now I turn it on and keep it from going to sleep until I go to bed.  Thank goodness the battery is still awesome on this thing.
I bought it new and still has the original screen, I keep it at home (never below 62 degrees).  Coincidentally, this happened a day or two after the expiration of the warranty!!  Any help figuring this one out would be eternally appreciated.

Hello i have one IPhone 4S and I use 3G net in my mobile sometime I have problem with temperature in my phone at the SIM card or battery how can I fix this problem. By update or version of 6.1.3

Could it be because the SIM card got damaged while I cut it to fit the IPhone?
Very likely. Hard to believe the carrier in Mexico doesn't have a micro-SIM card available.
Or somehow the Chinese carrier found out and locked it?
    No, which is not possible.
What can I do? Get a new SIM and see if it works again?
Get a micro-SIM from the carrier in Mexico that you don't have to manually cut down. If that carrier doesn't provide one, switch to another carrier that is not so low-budget.
