Template and Titles

I edit files with DW in WYSIWYG mode and leave the title
section on the template empty so that I can insert a specific title
for each page. However, everytime I edit the template and update
hte other files the Titles on the files disappears.
Is there anyway to avoid this so that the titles of each page
does not have to be re-entered everytime you edit the
template?

YOur template has not been properly made if this is
happening. Try creating
a NEW template from a blank page using FILE | Save As
Template... Make the
title tag in your current template look like the one in the
new template by
manually adding the required editable region. If you also
will want to add
behaviors to these pages you will also need to copy the
editable region
called "head".

where can i find the most popular common effects and title template for free online?

Hello,
I have a couple of links that I have used:

http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/ZFS_for_Databases
These are not exactly new, so you may have encountered them already.
List of ZFS blogs follows:

Again, there does not seem to be huge activity on the blogs featured there.

• Text and Title Templates

We have 11 computers with Premiere Elements 11 and don't have the luxury of downloading from the website on all of the computers. Is it possible to download all of the Text and Title Templates to one location and then install them on these computers. Even if I have to go to each one and do it manually.
Thanks
Steve

Please consider this approach...
For one computer with Premiere Elements 11 Windows, from the appropriate tabs (Tools/Movie Menu; Titles & Templates; Graphics....) in the Expert view workspace, download for those thumbnails with the blue band at the top right corner of the thumbnails.
Then
Local Disc C
Program Data
Adobe
Premiere Elements
11.0
Online
and then make a copy of the Online Folder now complete with assets (expected Folder Size about 5 to 6 GB) and transfer that Online Folder to a USB Flash Drive.
Go to each of your other computers and replace its Premiere Elements 11 Online Folder (see route above) with the one on the USB Flash Drive.
Please review the plan and let us know if that worked for you.
Thanks.

• In Pages I used to be able to edit a template and "save a version" to update the template. Now i have to rename the template to save the changes. Why is this happening? what happen to "save a version"? its no longer an option under "file".

In Pages, In the past, I was able to edit a template and "save a version" to update the template. Now i have to rename the template to save the changes. Why is this happening? what happen to "save a version"? its no longer an option under "file". And I can no longer open the actual template, when template is clicked, it automaticaly opens an "untitled" version???

In your description you say the first document opens as the Title you gave it.
Templates always open as Untitled so it sounds like you have saved a regular document, perhaps into your templates folder which is possible.
Since you have already worked on it and it has been previously saved, Lion will now Save for you and Save a Version is available
The other document does open as Untitled so sounds like a real template and as Peggy has pointed out will not have either Revert nor Save a Version until you Save it and have changed something in it.
This is a classic example of just how Apple's supposedly "simplification" of the process, is leading to confusion of what has happened. That the conditions and resulting actions from those conditions is so convoluted says it all.
It all reminds me of the Monty Python Life of Brian sketch with the "simplified" John Cleese instructions to the class, as to if you have a brother in an older dorm whether to hang your hat and bag on the hooks provided. The trouble is Apple does not get the joke, that it is transforming itself into a frequently self contradictory bumbling bureacracy. The price of unchallenged self appointed geniushood.
The incoherent half baked stumbling juggernaut has reached new triumphs with its edict on enforced Sandboxing on developers when it is unable to follow even its own instructions.

• Difficulties with templates and CSS in DW CS3

I'm having difficulty with CS3 and templates.
I started a new site. I created an HTML file (with CSS for
some formatting - colors and margins) and made a template from the
HTML file, creating one editable region (plus the default two of
the page title and the additional area in the header). I then
created my site HTML files from this new template. When I tried
updating the template, I got an error that I had nested editable
regions in the HTML files. I checked the template, and I don't. I
checked the HTML files and I did see two
tags at the
end.
I started over. I updated my starting file and made a new
template, overwriting my old one. I created new files from the new
template. Although the HTML files display fine in the browsers,
when I try to view them in Design View, this round DW doesn't
render them with the CSS, and it did the first time.
What's going on, and can I get it to stop?
Thanks!

I use File>New...>Page from Template, select the
template, go to editable region, add my content, then save the
result as an HTML file. Same as I've done lots of times. The Update
page when template changes checkbox is checked.

• Template and child pages do not match

Hi, there are several issues here and I'm pretty sure they're linked so I'll tell you them all. I was recently editing my website and I was changing the title of a page a created. I noticed that after I changed the name, when I clicked off it it just went back to the default title in the template. I then looked up how to sort and I think I changed a few bit of coding (I can't remember what though, sorry. It seemed to work. Then I decided to add another page which I listed in the navbar... when I got round to pressing save on the template, this happened....
I'm sorry to sound so vague but I can't really remember what I did. Anyway, it says this for nearly every page when you save the template. I've noticed some of the coding on the template and the child pages do not match. This is the code on the template.

Is there any way I can just create a new template to match the pages already created?
Sorry if I sound silly but this is my first post on these forums and I'm not really sure what you need to know.
Gabriel

You can do everything, (and I mean absolutely EVERYTHING) in a regular HTML page that you can do in a DWT, and you don't have any of the parent/child/editable/non-editable/nested/nesting region problems that you will get with DWT's until you are very highly proficient at coding HTML and know exactly how to lay one out from the start so these things don't happen.
DWT's are good for putting together a "mockup" to show a client, and have a good idea of the layout you will eventually use. They are also good for a teaching tool (the only time I ever created one was part of a class). If you have a group of people working on a site together, they are helpful too, but if none of the above apply, just make a plain HTML page and "Save As" when you need to make additional pages from it.

• How to make page name and title change with AJAX driven site?

I am building a travel site. I am a fairly basic but longtime
DW user. I built the site in DW. I made a template and all pages
are then based off the template. I hired a programmer to do the
complicated hotel searching code. He says that he used AJAX and I
know also php (all the pages are whatever.php)
What I don't like and he says can not be changed, which there
must be a workaround for, is that, for example, a user will be on
the spahotels.php page. Or perhaps they are on the whatshot.php
page reading the latest article about jungle treehouse eco lodges.
So far so good, the name of the page is "spahotels.php" or
"whatshot.php".
But, on each (and all) of the site pages we also have a hotel
search on the top left nav. So from any page, the user can do a
hotel search. The problem I have is that...once they do this....the
results they are given in the main window of the page, are totally
unrelated to spahotels or whatshot about jungle lodges...so if they
have now searched for tokyo business hotels, it looks ridiculous
and confusing that the page name says "spahotels.php" and the page
title says Find Great Spa Hotels.
My programmer says AJAX was the best way to do the hotel
search functionality (which I dont know anything about so if he
says so maybe so but I don't know) but he also says there is no way
to make the page name or title change to reflect what the user has
done on the left search function. Makes sense..they are clearly
unrelated.
However...this is a terrible user experience in my opinion.
So...one idea he had was to find a javascript code that changes the
page title/name.
Does anyone have some ideas of how to solve this issue?
The page (rough, we are still developing) is
http://www.bluehippotravel.com/spahotels.php
Try doing a seach for something on the left nav hotel
search...and see what I mean...the name of the page stays
spahotels.php and the title stays Spa Hotels. I get it...I
think...why it does...but it looks stupid if you are looking for
something else in your search (which of course the user will be).
Any ideas??? Thank you so much in advance!!

their is no out of box way to avoid this but you can change this in the Designer.
check this technet for more details how to do:

• Template page title locked

I have created a template and DW CS4 has automatically placed
the page title in the non-editable region of the document. When I
create any pages using the template it will not allow me to rename
them. How do I fix this?
Chris

This is the sign of an improperly made template.
Do this -
Create a new page (Basic HTML).
Use FILE | Save as Template....
Look at the code in the head region of the page, particularly
the editable
region around the
tag, and the other editable
region in the head
called "head".
Make your template file look like that.
Always use FILE | Save as Template when you create your
templates and you
won't have this problem again.

• Working with Templates and Automatic Code Changes

I am working in DW CS6.
I am creating a new page based on a template and when DW creates the new page, it is automatically changing the paths to the links to .css and .js files. These changes are breaking the template. Is there a way to keep the auto-changes from occurring?
BTW - All the pages were created with a different template and I was able to modify the pages and apply this template to those pages without a problem. All is beautiful.
Original Code in the Template:

Information Technology (IT): (DADS)

Code once I create a page using the template:

Always set site links to "Document" unless you NEED "Site Root". If you don't know whether you need them, then you don't need them. When you understand that you need them and why you need them, then you can use "Site Root"!
Good advice.

• Logo and Title

In the definition of an application under Logo, you can choose logo or text. Is there a way to have both? Essentially, we want to have every application use the same logo and the title vary with the application. It seems like you can do one or the other. I have tried adding the logo to a customized theme but have little knowledge of CSS and how the themes work and I cannot get that to work. Any information on this would be most appreciated.

Go to your page template, find the section which contains the "#LOGO#" string(check the "header" or "body" sections of the page template). This is where the logo(image or text) gets replaced.
For instance my page template reads(just the line which contains the logo )
<div id="logo"><a href="#HOME_LINK#">#LOGO##REGION_POSITION_06#</a></div>I could change it to
<div id="logo"><a href="#HOME_LINK#"><img src="/i/my_logo_image.jpg" /><br/>#LOGO##REGION_POSITION_06#</a></div>This would add an image "/i/my_logo_image.jpg" in the page, then a line break and then the logo entry for the application. You can choose text for the logo and that text gets substituted in place of "#LOGO#" and hence will be placed below the image(in this case).
So if you want to have an image and text, add the image directly in the template and then use the #LOGO# substitution string to place the logo text. You can play around with the HTML structure for this so that the logo image and text can be placed/positioned as you want them to be shown on the page.

• What is the difference between VI Template and vi that is reenterant?

What is the difference between VI Template and vi that is reenterant?
From what little info I can find about them, they seem to basically do the same thing....
What are the difference?
What are the pros and cons of each?
Thanks alot for the help.....

Thanks,
OK, here's what happens when you call a VI Template using Call by Reference or using Invoke and Property Nodes.
Since the VI you are calling is a template, LabVIEW creates a new instance of that VI by creating a copy of it and giving a new name. Notice in the title bar of the instantiated VI the VI name is the same as the template VI plus a number. This is the same thing you see when you open a template from the "New..." menu. So if you call the template VI 3 times, you'd end up with 5 newly instantiated VIs named, "VI Name 1.vi", "VI Name 2.vi" and "VI Name 3.vi". This is how you end up with multiple instances.
Reentrancy only works on subVIs when they are used as a normal subVI in a top level application. Using Call by Reference or Invoke and Property Nodes to open and run a reentrant VI results in the VI only being opened once because LabVIEW will not automatically give it a new name. The new name is only generated when calling templates. Since LabVIEW can only a have a single instance of VI name in memory at a time, you'll not end up with multiple instances.
Not sure if I can help with the know issue on OSX. If it's specific to using the Call by Reference function, you could try calling the templates using Invoke and Property nodes.

Using the Abort button to stop your VI is like using a tree to stop your car. It works, but there may be consequences.

• Align Region Body and Title

In my application's home page there is a title and two buttons under neath. All of them are aligned to left. I can align to right but I don't know how to align to middle/center. Could help me out to align my title and button to middle/center of my page?
Thanks,
Rony

There are a lot of ways to achieve what you want. Part of it has to do with templates, which ones you choose, where you place them (which page section) and what CSS and classes are associated with each element.
I'm not familiar with any of the centered region templates, but what you might want to do is copy one of the existing region templates and put your centering attributes in that template. This will be especially useful if you plan to use this centered layout over and over again.
One place to start is in your templates, look for alignment attributes (align="right") and try changing them to align="center". If you have specific HTML that you would like us to look at please post whatever you can here. Just watch out when posting HTML on the forum postings. You generally don't want to use real HTML tags. Just show the portions of the tags (attributes) that are relevant.
Hope that helps.

• Problem with template and ie

I'm running through a weirg problem here. I've designed my webpage and everything worked fine in chrome , firefox and explorer 8. So I saved it as a template and created a basic page with it (normal html/css here, very simple). The probleme is that now, everything is messed up but only in explorer (page not centered, big empty space added somewhere). And then, when I remove the editable regions markers ( ...) and save it back as a normal html page without templates, it is working fine again.
Can someone help me please?
Thanks!

• Saving projects with Transitions and Titles - iMovie 3

Every time I edit a movie in iMovie 3, add transitions and titles, and then save, the next time I open the project, I get a window saying there are x number of stray clips (my transition and title clips) and would I like to move them to the clip panes or leave them alone. Either way, they end up being out of order. Why will they not stay in the edited order that I put them in, even after I hit Save?

I do Save the projects this way and all the clips show up in the edit panel below the clip frames. BUT, none of the Transition or Title clips stay in the edit panel below. Each time I open the saved project, a message window appears saying that there are x number of stray clips (the Transition and Title Clips). Then it asks me if I would like to leave them alone or put them in the clips pane. If I put them in the clips pane, then I have to once again reposition them where they belong in the edit panel below. This happens every time.
