Template updating files

I have set up a template with a layout table and an editable
region. I now
what to increase the rows in the table from 2 to 4 (will prob
need to add
more later). I can do it OK in the template and when I save
it asks me to
update all files as usual. When I go into the main page that
I want to apply
pictures to the table, the table is still 2 rows only!! If I
create a new
page and apply template it works fine and if I alter anything
else it
updates OK. Any ideas?

If the table is in an editable region in the template,
changes to the table will not replicate out to the web pages built
from the template. Since any and all of the content in the editable
region can be changed in a web page built from the template,
updates to the content in editable regions of the template itself
are not applied.

  • Unable to upload the updated/modified Report template (rtf file) in siebel

    Hi,
I am unable to upload the updated/modified Report template (rtf file) if already exists in the local database.
Initially I have uploaded a rtf template, generated xliff, registered it and can view the report from the registered view. Later I have made few changes to the rtf template, in the reports template view, I have uploaded this. When i run the report in the registered view, I am able to see the earlier version and it doesnt show me the updated changes.
I am using 8.1.1.3 siebel and BIP 10.1.3.3.1 on local.
Looking at the metalink found "How To Upload Modified RTF Template Files In The Siebel Application For BI Publisher Reporting [ID 1136418.1]" which is related to server but I am working on local database
Please find attached the template, xml file. can you please look into this and update me ASAP
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Not able to find Report - Standard templates or Report - Custom templates view in Administration - BIP reports in Siebel 8.1.1.3?
We have applied 8.1.1.3 patch on 8.1.1.0
    below are the steps followed
Reports are not generated after 8.1.1.3 patch installtion.
we have also followed to below steps mentioned for this issue in oracle support.
"In order to resolve this behavior it is necessary to ensure that the 8.1.1.3 FixPack has been applied to the Siebel Tools installation. This will provide an additional .zip file in the REPPATCH folder of the Siebel Tools installation. Once this has been done please then follow the configuration steps as documented :
change sysprefix to X_ before sif import and chage back to SBL_ after sif import.
    1) Import the sif files from Siebel\8.1\Tools_1\REPPATCH\12-1VMBCSV.zip
    2) Import the 4 SIF files in the following order:
    S_XMLP_REP_TMPL_02112010.sif
    SBL_XMLP_REPORT_SELECTION_FLG.sif
    Report Template BC.sif
    Report Template Registration Applet.sif
3)Apply the DDL for table S_XMLP_REP_TMPL and compile repository
Once the above steps have been completed the Selected Record flag will appear in the Report Template Registration views."
we still not able to generated able to generate reports even after following above steps.

  • How do I update template-related files on remote server

I've created a template as a way to keep the pages consistent across my intranet site but when I need to make changes to the template, I'm unsure how to update the remote files to follow the changes. In order to update locally, I go to Modify>Templates>Update Pages but how do I get my remote files to sync to the local file changes created by the template change? Is there a setting somewhere that allows remote files to follow local file settings that have been changed by a template?

I don't necessarily need FTP setup since the remote server is local as well (intranet site on web server located in-house). But I've tried syncing the files within the files panel group by doing Site>Synchronize and choosing "Entire Site" and "Put Newer Files to Remote". It then analyzed the files for a while but didn't do any updating after all its analyzing. Is this what you're talking about, Thuy?

  • Dreamweaver template update ftp files without synchronizing

Today I change Template - Update all files based on the template - synchronize entire site.
What I Like to do: change Template - Update all files based on the template
and then in the same window button with ftp upload changed files!
    Why do I want this:
The synchronization can take time on big sites, I have cms and billing system on my site with many files.
The synchronization can take time on slow connection.
When the time betwen two synchronization is to small Dreamweaver select all files (or many) for synchronization. I do not know if this is only my problem (maybe there is different time on my computer and the server?).
Do we have solution for this today?
Or can this be something to suggest for next version?
    Thanks for any suggestion

Not sure if there is anything set up in DW yet, it does give a status window of what files were updated, you could possibly work backwards form that list (still a bit cumbersome). I also believe that if you change the template and upload it to your server, it will prompt you as to whether or not you'd like to "include dependant files", and (in theory) it will also upload the files linked associated with it... but that may need to be tested to see how well it works on a larger site.
As a possible alternative, you could use "Server Side Includes" - which is a single file which contains a portion of your page (the top navigation, footer area, etc.), and any page that uses this element will automatically update when you upload just that one element. Here is a link which explains it better: http://www.smartwebby.com/web_site_design/server_side_includes.asp and there are several others on the web that offer more detailed explainations - one caveat is that the web server you use would need to be set up to accept SSI... most do, but something you'd need to look into beforehand...
    Hope that helps,
    Jesse

  • How to enable the "update file" button to update the data template

We have an escalated customer bug that the chinese character does not display correctly on report. We want to update the data template xml file on customer site to test the fix. However, when the customer login using "XML publisher Administrator" responsitility, select function "Data Definitions", search and then update the definition, on the update page, the button "update file" next to "Data Template" is disabled. Anyone know how to enable the button?

Unless until it is a Manual Journal, SLA page doesn't give you the provision to change them.
Even for Manual Journal, it won't allow you to change, if that is transferred to GL.
Only option is to UNDO the accounting and correct the setup to create correct journals. You may contact Oracle Support.

  • Template based files in CS3 not updating

Hi! I'm having problems working with Templates in Dreamweaver
CS3. Basic operations like creating new template, defining regions,
etc, works normally except for Updating Files based on the template
action. It will display the Update Files status window but it won't
update the pages and it'll just stuck. Opening each file and doing
a "Update Current Page" works though. Your ideas? Thanks!

Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes
    not propagating
    from Template to child -
    1. Rename the Templates folder
    2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in
    the site other
    than root level
    3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which
    will not
    propagate)
    5. Assume that template changes can be uploaded to the server
    without also
    uploading the changed local files
    6. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template
    and child page
    is broken
7, Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the
    template,
adding page specific content, and resaving the template with
    an *.html
extension rather that its *.dwt extension. (you can tell if
    this is the case
by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything
    like <!--
TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done)
The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced >
    Recreate Site
Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing
    them. Have you
    done any of those?

  • DW keeps asking me to update files based on template when I switch windows

I have a page based on a template.
Whilst editing the page from a template I am switching back and forth between a word document and windows folders to process the files for DW
EVERY TIME I click on anything outside DW I get a dialog box asking me to Update Template links.
I cannot get rid of it.
If I press Update the box freezes for ages (I cancelled after 30 mins)
If I press Dont update then it goes away until I click on anywhere outside DW again.
I've never had this before so why now?
It's so annoying it is preventing me from getting work done.
I only have 5 pages so far - thank goodness I've not got a hundred pages!
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thenk you in advance
    Terry

    Try this:
If that doesn't work, delete your DW Personal Configuration Folder as described below:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/49481
That's from the thread I started today about this issue. So far, that has seemed to help. I can actually get some work done without getting prompted to update files every 10 seconds!

  • Templates updating wrong files

We have several different people working on many different
sites here. All the sites are started with a base set of Template
files that have the same names. E.g. There is a "/Templates/Site
Template.dwt" file in each of these separate sites that is client
    specific, etc.
We recently had a set of problems where some pages were being
updated with the Site Template changes from a different site. NOT
GOOD!... I tracked it down to the following situation occuring:
A person created a new site by coping the directory structure
from an old site to a new location as a starting base.
They created a Site Definition for the new site but did not
have one for the old site. (They didn't maintain it so they didn't
    need it).
They opened some files from the OLD site in DW and some of
the matching files from the new site.
Then they modified the Site Template.dwt and applied changes.
Then did a normal "Save All" to save the file updated in the
    editor to disk.
The problem is that DW applied the updated Template to the
non-site files open in the editor and changed their look as well.
So the save all applied the new site template to the old site
    files.
It appears that the update code looks thru files open in the
editor for all files with the name of the Template being updated
but doesn't consider the fact that they are outside the site.
FWIW, we did determine that if there is a site definition for
the other site, DW then recognized that this file should not be
updated. But we have LOTS of sites and having everyone have
everyone elses site defs is a logistics nightmare.
We've reproduced it DW MX and 8.0 (not sure if patch applied
    to 8.0.)
    Is there anyway to
automatically keep DW from applying Templates to files
    outside the associated root folder?

Although aspx pages are related to application development, I think this post belongs in the main DW forum and will probably get a better response there.

  • Odd template updating behavior

    hello all,
I've got some weird behavior happening with a template i've
created. I am using some of the basic mm_ scripts (for image
swapping etc) which i have moved to an external .js file which is
linked to the template i'm using. There are no scripts that exist
in the head of the document except the linked files.
The weird behavior happens when i make a change to the
template and then update files site wide ("update all pages" when
saving)....Dreamweaver inserts all the mm_ scripts that i placed in
the external .js file into the heads of the updated files that use
    that template.
Now to make things even more confusing, if i update
individual pages by using modify>update current page, the page
    updates correctly.
I also have 2 different templates that also access that
external .js file, but neither of them have the same weird updating
    problem....
    any thoughts?
    -AK

  • Template Update on Remote Server - How To?

When I make a change to my template, I get the popup window
that allows me to update the entire site or just files connected to
a template. But, that just updates files on my local computer.
I'm accessing the template file on the remote server and have
that open on my desktop. But, the template update just applies to
    my local files.
So, how do I get the template to update to all related files
    on my remote server?

That would be correct. Templates have no function on the
    server. Never
    have.

  • Template Update

I'm doing our company badges in Illustrator. I've created a template with 12 badges on one page. The only thing that will need to change for each badge is the name and photo. Then every year, alls I need to update is the expiration date. If I open this template, save as a new file, make changes to the template, will the file that utilizes that template update (like a template in Dreamweaver does)?
    Thanks
EDIT: Just tested, doesn't work, I wasn't thinking clearly...duh opens a new document when opening that template. So I guess my question then is what is the best way to do this.

    Hello Tanya,
What you can do to update all the dates on the ID cards you can do the following:
Main Menu: "Edit" + "Find and Replace"
In the "Find" field enter the old date
And in the "Replace With" field enter the new date.
Finally select "Find" + "Replace All" + "Done"
In my versions of CS3, this fields of "Find and Replace" window are saved until your quit the program. In other words, you can open all the ID documents and the old date and the new date will be already set for you to just select "Find" + "Replace All" + "Done"
    I hope this helps.

  • CS4 Problem with Template Updates

There's another thread on this subject, but I couldn't see any final resolution.
I'm having a problem with Template Update.
I  have all pages in site linked to a single template.  I built the template 1st and  then created each page from the template using normal method.
When  I now make a change to the template, I save the template and it  automatically saves and opens a box to select pages to update. I  do NOT have to use the Updates feature on the top menus, but I have done  that too just to try different things. When I select all the files,  it updates them all, most of them correctly. BUT, one or several of them  will have a NEW Main Content (and sometimes header) superimposed on top  of the existing Main Content (or header). It shifts the page downward and to the right.  By the way, down below the screwed section, the content is all still there and the original template is still intact under the screwed up area.
To fix it, I create a new page from  the template and start over inserting the Main Content, which is nothing  special, just formatted text.  Next time I update, that same page will  always get screwed up again, but sometimes 1 or more different pages  will also get screwed up in the same way, always with a new nested Main  Content area (on top of the original or sometimes pushed down half a  page).
I thought it might be because of a nested Main Content in that section of the template, but I see none, or any other abnormal html.  It does not do this to all 20-30 pages, just one every time and one or more random ones.  I see nothing in html different from one page to the next.
Don't know how to attach documents to this, but I have the template and two of the screwed up pages to send.

    The site is http://www.michaelchekhov.net
Public directory is /public_html, but that's the root, so the links below should work.
These pages are out of their normal directory, so the supporting  links won't work, but you can see the code. Look at the home page and  you can see what all the pages are supposed to look like.
The template which created the problem with the pages below is at /support/TEMPLATE index.dwt
The page that consistently fails is called poatool.html - the bad one is at /support/BAD poatool.html
A 2nd page that failed on that UPDATE is there also - /support/BAD bibliography.html
The currently working copy of the page that fails everytime is /articles/poatool.html.
    Thanks.

  • Script to install/update files

i am using package maker to install templates into iweb. i have managed to set the installer up to install the files into the correct locations - but i still need to be able to do one thing.
in order for the templates to work they need to update a templates.plist file. the only way i can see package maker to do is this by giving it a script.
how can i create a script that will update the file by adding certain plist lines into alphabetical orderded lists (in the plist file)?
i cannot replace the existing file because they might all have different templates installed! it sort of needs to merge the files as in file-merger!
another sidenote - i basically have no knowledge of applescript, so dont be to hard on me
    thanks,

Typically I would say using the shell command defaults is the way to go, but after looking at the file I don't think that will work. I don't have any templates to test this with, but this should work. It does make up a back up of your templates file to the desktop though just in case.
Currently it only works with one template, but by making the theme name variable a list and throwing the main logic block in a repeat through that list it would be easy to accomodate multiple files.

  • Template Updates Revert Code

I'm working on a site and didn't built the templates, but
they look right. For about 80% of the files, when you update the
    template the files update correctly.
For the other 20% it updates part, but then reverts other
parts backwards. For example, I cleaned up the <body> tag in
the template and it didn't update on these 20%. I also updated some
links in the template and they got updated just fine in all sites.
Also in these 20%, when the template updates the files, it
puts back the JavaScript code in an editable area. It's not in the
template and was removed from the code, yet comes back each time
the template is updated. The other 80%, it doesn't come back. What
    the ?!?!?!?
I've tried applying a new template and re-selecting the good
one and that updates the code correctly. However, next template
change, it updates some of the code reverts backwards other parts
of the code. I don't get it.
Please help before I go cRaZy.
Any idea what might be going on or how to stop it? I'm using
    Dreamweaver MX 2004.

This is usually an indication of hinky code somewhere. Can we
    start by
taking a look at the template, please? Can you upload it and
    post a link?

  • Why template update failed?

I can update the navigation code to add an item to the menu and all linked webpages are updated fine.  But when I add information to the website header in the template, the update process acts as if it is updating all the linked webpages but upon verifying, none the webpages have the new information.  ???

Dreamweaver Templates (.dwt files) use a series of Editable Regions within them to define those areas where information will change between pages. Everything else is considered "the Template" and will update to child pages created from the .dwt Template file when the .dwt is changed and saved, as long as those child pages were created from the .dwt in the correct manner.
The information within those Editable Regions (defined by blue name tabs  within Design View of the .dwt file) will not propagate to child pages when edited in the .dwt file itself.
Changing the Template .dwt file online will do nothing, you need to change it locally, then upload all of the pages that were changed. .dwt files are not used by anything but Dreamweaver and do not need to be uploaded unless you want to share them with other developers.
Personal Note: One thing I would like to mention about your page is the supremely annoying right click blocking script you've used. Not only is it supremely annoying while trying to debug an issue, but is completely useless from a "protecting my information from theft" perspective. If you are worried about someone copying your scripts, code images or content, the ONLY way to protect them is to keep them off the internet. There are many ways for a viewer to gain access to that information and many reasons (most of which are non-nepharious) for them to right click their window. Blocking them from doing that will end up costing you a portion of your viewership and return visitors.
