Templates for iWeb 08

So from what I can tell, iWeb 08 web templates are pretty hard to come by?
Where can I get good ones?

You must not be reading the same stuff I am because the following is taken from that site
"+I can’t publish+
+Try the things listed here in the same order as they are listed step by step following instructions to the word:+
+If you publish to .Mac be sure to have the account setup right in System Preferences => .Mac+

+Some people report that the following tip solved their publishing issue (most useful):+
+“I was having problems+"
I am not pasting the rest of it here as it is quite long but I am sure there are several suggestions there that address the publishing issue.

  • New Templates for iWeb?

    Hello~
Does anyone know if there are additional templates to use for iWeb? If so, where can I find them and add them to my current library of templates that came with iWeb?
    Thank you.

There are several 3rd party templates. Just do a Google search for "iWeb templates" and you'll get numerous hits for the sites.

  • Dynamic templates for iWeb??

Is there somewhere I can go to get (buy, have designed) a 'dynamic' template designed for iWeb, that allows me to create as many pages as I want ... and THEN functions so that when I change something, a bit of text, in the original template ... ALL the pages built from that template change automatically all at once?
I do this all the time in Dreamweaver, and would like to be able to do the same in iWeb ... which I'm finding very attractive as a designer app.

    Ben,
I know what you are asking for and I don't think it is available. The best person I can get you in contact with is Suzanne Boben over at 11 Mystics...

She's one of the early pioneers in customizing iWeb templates and she might be able to offer more insight into your situation. Good luck!

  • Flash templates for iweb

are there any templates where we can insert flash into an existing iweb site?

I just finished dealing with this battle. First the code that was provided to you from Carson (first reply) is crucial to load your flash movie into your website. Follow his instructions and you will easily be able to add flash movies.
Now for creating the content. There is a couple of options. I used iWorks '08 Keynote to create a flash introduction. Basically you can create a slide show with animations and then convert it to Quicktime. You can either use the Quicktime file as a movie insert or convert the Quicktime to a flash file. Please note that the export to flash feature within Keynote will remove alot of your slide transitions and animations. Thus, if you want flash you should export it to Quicktime to keep all transitions and animations. Then you can use Adobe Flash C3 to convert it to flash or any other flash converter software (such as the products sold from the link posted above).
If you want to get a little flashier there is a software called The Ad Creator (http://www.flashadcreator.com/)
This software has about a 100 templates for flash introductions. It is meant for companies but you can easily adapt it to your personal website by adding photos and changing captions. I just bought it but have not done anything yet on my website.
You can view a sample introduction made from Keynote and then converted to flash on my website.

  • Anyone know how to make a personal template for iWeb 2.0?

Seems things changed in the content folder and descriptions for the previous version are unusable.
I don't understand why there isn't a chapter in the manual for this! Isn't it un-Applish to not let the mac users roam free with their creativeness… or is it to complicated?
Well, I just know how I would like the webpage to look and I would prefer to do it in iWeb. This is particularly since such a lot of people go on to use Explorer instead of rashing it and iWeb so far has been safe, that is wysiwyg, also for Explorer.
    Cheers, Viveka

One of the things I do when creating a new website is build what I call a "master" page. This is the basic page I am going to use throughout the site.
To do this you have to be saving your individual sites to separate folders.
Make a copy of your domain.sites2 file and put it in a folder named "website master page".
Click this file to launch it in iWeb, delete all the pages and rename the site Master Page.
Build your master page and save.
When you want to start a new site using this page all you have to do is copy the file and paste it into a folder "New Website", launch it in iWeb and duplicate it as many times as you want.
Using this method you cannot, obviously, use gallery, photo, blog etc.
Mostly, I don't use them anyway for anything but personal sites.

  • Which holder can I find all the template for iWeb?

I would like to customize the existing iWeb template, but I cannot find where iMac store all those templates. I'd appreciate it very much if someone can tell me which holder iWeb hides its template.
    Thank you.

From within iWeb, just click on Add New Page at the bottom and all page templates are displayed. Choose the one you want and you can then add or take away or do anything you want with it.
If you want your own design entirely, I would suggest that you start with a blank canvas with a white template. Then you can do whatever you want.

  • Looking for an 'opt-in form' template for iWeb??

Building a site that will see serious traffic on Sunday. Need to embed an 'opt-in' form. Have no idea how to do this in iWeb.
It would be nice if I could combine an 'opt-in' form with an 'autorespond' ...
Is this something that would be possible on an iWeb site, and could I do it fairly easily\quickly?

  • Problem with Great Estate Template in iWeb

Having problems with the Great Estate template for iWeb: On the blog, the picture shows up fine, in the larger, overview version it is all blurred. The software company cannot help me, say it is a program flaw in iWeb? Has anyone else encountered this problem and how did you fix it? Thanks

I have been corresponding with the company in Lithuania for a few days and we have tried everything we could think of to solve the glitch. I am very much aware of the fact that it is a custom theme, in fact I have further customised it.
The website in question is a private one. In my home country, we are legally required to post our address on the page. I would not want to braodcast that across the Apple community, if I can help it, so that is not an option. Sorry.
I would really appreciate if someone who uses GraphicNodes templates could help me out. Thank you

  • New iWeb theme templates for sale

I thought I saw several new iWeb theme templates for sale several weeks ago about the time the 1.1 themes came out. They were priced at around $12 or $15 dollars or so. Anyone know where they are?
    Thanks,
    Chuck

    Hi Chuck!
It's been a long time since I've seen you around! Welcome back.
Suzanne Boben is the queen of the iWeb templates. She sells her custom created templates on her website:

Take a look. Hope it's what you were looking for. I know she's been busy with her latest creation "Aerolite". Good luck.

  • Can you edit a host's provided templates in iWeb?

I am looking at Hostgator to host my simple business site. They have a ton of business site templates, but apparently you need some software (like FrontPage or DreamWeaver)to edit them. Can you edit these templates using iWeb? Are there other hosts with templates that are compatible with iWeb?

Follow this link for iWeb templates:
    http://www.ipresentee.com/
If you're lucky they still have [a free template for Christmas|http://www.ipresentee.com/iPresentee/iPresentee-_ChristmasGift.html].
They (Hostgator) have a ton of business site templates
Download the templates you like and use the layout to re-create the page in iWeb. Drop the images on your iWeb canvas and rearrange them.

  • Needed: flash for dummies - a template for HTML snippet

I am a dummy when in comes to code. I understand that iWeb '08 uses "HML Snippets" and by using them, you can add flash movies (.flv or .swf) to your iWeb '08 created site.
What I (and apparently many other dummies) need is a step by step set of instructions on how to modifiy an HTML template and where to put the flash files to get them to work.
<http://web.mac.com/wyodor/Embed_Media/Embed.html> provides useful HTML templates, but they leave many unanswered questions that dummies, like me, have no clue about. Here is the template for .flv files with my questions in CAPITALS.
Object for Flash movies with player.
The outer object is for Safari.
The inner object is for Firefox/Camino.
This sample uses a Flash player. There are several Flash players around you can use.

IF YOU INCLUDE THE FLASH MOVIE IN THE iWEB FILES FOR THAT PAGE, IS THERE A WAY TO INDICATE THAT THE PATH TO THEM IS SHORTER THAN THE WHOLE HTTP//...?
I have read all the postings and gone to all the sites and attempted doing what they seem to say and I am still having no luck. I hope someone will take the time to explain to dummies like me how to do this. I used iWeb because I thought it would be simple.

    Remember, I am a dummy.
The path I gave to files is an invention, not the actual path I am using, but that is not the problem (I suspect). I have eliminated the parameters ending in false. Will that mean that the controller shows up? That the movies does not loop?
Should the question mark not be there or is it required? I have no idea what it does.
My understanding (or misunderstanding) was that this code has two parts to address playback on various browsers. Is that true or is it just redundant?
Here is what I have now. If you could just make necessary changes and post, that would probably be the biggest help. The "piecemeal" approach leaves me with more questions. Thanks for all the help.

  • CAN YOU USE A FLASH TEMPLATE IN IWEB?

I have recently created my website using iWeb....albeit with much help from this forum...and am very pleased with the results.
I would like to, however, have my site open with a Flash introduction. I have seen many affordable Flash Templates for sale on the web and am wondering it any of these would successfully work with iWeb. If so:
    1. What specs would I need to look for?
    2. Does anyone know of a site that sells iWeb compatible Flash intros?
Thanks for all of your answers to my previous posts and hopefully this one as well.

    Sandie,
Yes I have used Keynote as an intro and I once used it in swf format. I ended up liking the QT better.
    Here is the intro:
    http://web.mac.com/abenningfield/iWeb/CameraObscura/Camera%20Obscura%20Intro.htm l
As an example...here is another I created in Keynote:
    http://web.mac.com/abenningfield/iWeb/ArchivalGenealogyVault/Archival%20Genealog y%20Vault%20Intro.html
But as far as Adobe Flash goes.....I don't have the pro version (I have Basic) and I got a fully functional demo for 30days. Yeah it did cost about 400 bucks after the 30 day trial. Yikes.
On the right side of this page is a third party flash file that I bought for a dollar. I used the free demo of Flash and put it on my site. After you format the flash file you want.....you don't need to keep Flash unless you want it (I did).
    http://web.mac.com/abenningfield/iWeb/CameraObscura/Links.html
But Keynote is great...and yes Kirk is right....wait for the new version.
Also here is another app that converts video to swf:

  • What is the best replacement for iWeb?

I have been using iWeb for a very long time. I need to move on to something that is being updated. What is the best replacement for iWeb? I see Wordpress needs special software to work on a Mac.
    Thanks!
    Pat

I have used HostExcellence in the past and they support all the CMS's including WordPress, so you should have no problems there.
The top CMS's that most have heard about and use are Drupal, Joomla and WordPress.
There is probably no best one, but you need to look at them all and use the one that best fits your needs.
I have used all of them in the past, but most recently Joomla and Drupal.  Drupal has a reputation for being quite hard and Drupal 6 was, but with the advent of Drupal 7, things got a lot easier.  There are a lot more themes that you can use and if you want increased functionality in Drupal, then you can download Modules and install them.  You can have a membership site if you want it and this is easy to do - people can sign up for an account and you can restrict their access to certain parts of the site and then limit what they can do.  You can allow people to complete forms on the site itself and the results to be sent to you.  There is a Blog module that you can enable and that comes in Drupal Core with no need to download an extra module.
Joomla is good also and you can have a Blog with it too and there are lots of themes to choose from, but sometimes you have to pay for extras with Joomla - you can download Extensions and Plugins, but they may not always be free.
WordPress was always just thought of as a blogging platform, but it has evolved in to much more than that and you can now create stunning looking websites with blogs - there are a good range of free templates to choose from and if you want your blog on the front page of your site you can have this, or you can change it to another part of your site if you want a static front page.  To extend functionality you can download plugins from inside WordPress itself, most of which are free.  This might be the easiest one for you to use if you just want a website with a built in blog that is relatively easy.
Check out the others though at Drupal.org, Joomla.org and then WordPress.org.

  • Changing templates in iWeb

Hello, I'm completely new to iWeb but so far it's pretty awesome. I would like to know how I can change the background pictures in some of the iWeb templates. I'd like to use the Road Trip template but I would like to change the background if that's possible. Also, I've seen some templates available for download online for iWeb, how do those work? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Most templates you can download come with an installer so it will just add the templates to your list.
To change background images, etc, use Inspector's Page Tab

  • What is the replacement product for iWeb?

I am a current user of iWeb.  I understand that iWeb is no longer an application suite.  Could any recommend a product that provide a standard template as iWeb?
I really prefer an product that I can easily migrate my iWeb page into without major rework.
    Thank you.

iWeb 09 is still part of the boxed set of iLife 11 and is still available.  It is an application and will continue to work on your Mac with Snow Leopard and Lion so you can continue to use it to maintain your sites and there is no need to change at all.
If you want to look at other programmes there is RapidWeaver, Sandvox or Flux 3.  However, RapidWeaver and Sandvox have no import facility so if you use either of these, you'll have to re-build yoru stie from scratch.
Flux 3 can open your existing site, but it is a steeper learning curve than either of the others.
You can stick with iWeb for the time being though.  There is no rush to change as it will still work.
