Templates located in UNIX servers

We are using Contribute 3.0. While we are trying to publish a
new page through the templates placed on a UNIX server, we are
unable to see the templates in the dialog box that appears when we
click on the 'New Page' link. Whereas when we had these templates
on a windows server, we had no such issues, and the templates would
show up while creating a new page.
Any ideas?

Yes, that's possible. You had to transport the fmb to the unix-server and compile it there. Pay attention to Windows/Unix-specific things like Fonts, character-sensitivity (for referencing plls for example) and others.

However, when you open Word Options/Trust Centre/Trust Centre Settings…/Trusted Locations
There are no trusted locations listed under ‘Policy Locations’
I have tried setting similar settings for setting the Shared Templates folder location and just like the trusted locations policy, the registry keys are created properly in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies however word doesn’t
    seem to recognize these either.
This used to work flawlessly using the administrative templates for Word 2007 and 2010. Has anyone been able to get these policies to apply successfully, or know why office doesn’t recognize these settings from the Policies registry
    Key?

This would have been an easy solution to the issue.  Unfortunately it isn't the problem.  This question was originally posted on another Microsoft site and
was transferred here and when it was transferred the path's changed from the original post:
\\server\sharedfodlername to //server/sharedfoldername.  (I will edit the question to show up as it did in the original post) Not sure how that happened.  This
is still an issue that I haven't been able to get working correctly.
As it turns out the 'New from Template' interface Word 2013 has developed is very bulky with large thumbnails and is not very customizable nor practical for an office
that has a large number of templates.   Because I am unsatisfied with the display and performance of the 'New' template chooser I sought after a solution to change the way word creates a document from a template in another thread:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-word/how-can-you-change-the-display-of-templates-in/d49194b9-a6b4-4768-8502-7d7b50e9dd65 working through this issue with Jay we were able to develop
some VB script with handles a very large number of templates in a list view and it works much faster than the built-in Word interface.  The above thread is how I've worked around trying to define a shared template location and I am quite happy with it.

  • Setting the shared templates location by Deploying Office 365 Midsized Business "using a network share" from a on-premise location

I found the question "Deploy Office 365 pro plus using a network share or from a on-premise locaiton" the most useful of the resources
on MS yet - but I am having difficulties getting the files to download for a local deployment.
The root of the issue, that I cannot find anywhere, is how do I set the shared templates location for users in the organization.  First I thought a GPO, but I cannot find that setting in the GPO in MS.
Then I thought modifying the REG- but it is in a binary key which could include other information I may not want modified(Or does it matter?)
Then I looked for ways to download the deployment but launching from an elevated prompt as IT (Domain level) returns a useless error to paraphrase- 'sorry MSOffice didn't install- do you have enough disk space'.
I have downloaded the GPO objects, but not installed them, likely I will need those later though.
Just want to path all the users to a central repository of office/excel/access/outlook templates in addition to their local templates. Concise help in steps or sites that have solved the issue are Greatly appreciated : )

    Hi,
you can use the GPO ADMX templates to configure the "Workgroup templates path".
This actually configures a registry setting named: "sharedtemplates".
    The registry value/type/data is:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\office\15.0\common\general
    Name: sharedtemplates
    Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ (Expandable String Value)
    Data: <UNC path to folder>
From the GPO reference workbook/sheet, for Office:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/4976.selected-content-relating-to-group-policy-administrative-templates-adm-and-admx.aspx
    Filename: office15.admx
    Scope: User
    Path: Microsoft Office 2013\Shared paths
Policy Setting Name: Workgroup templates path
Supported on: At least Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7
    Category: Shared paths
Explain Text: Specifies the location of workgroup templates.
    Registry Key: HKCU\software\policies\microsoft\office\15.0\common\general!sharedtemplates
Note: it is supported to populate this setting, with a UNC path, but not with a web path.
    e.g.: \\server01\shared\templates <this is valid>
    e.g.: http://server01/shared/templates <this is not valid>
This constraint (for web URIs) can be difficult to work around. If you are using SharePoint, and think WebDAV might work, it doesn't seem to work for us :(
Of course, if you have SharePoint, there are much better ways to handle document templates, but, our users are familiar with this File -> New -> from template type of method...
It can also be set manually by a user:
    Don

  • Where are the MetaData Templates located in PS C6 on a Mac?

Where are the MetaData Templates located in PS C6 on a Mac that you can add your contact and copyright information to?
On a Windows machine they are located in Owner/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/XMP.  I have some templates that I want to copy from a Windows laptop over to a Macbook Pro.
    Thanks, Bill

I’m on Mac OS 10.6.8 and there it seems to be
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP/Metadata Templates
I think as of OS 10.7 Macintosh hides the Library, but one can get there by alt-clicking the Go-menu and selecting it from there … or something.

  • Does SCCM 2012 R2 supports PXE boot from Unix servers.

Does SCCM 2012 R2 supports PXE boot from Unix DHCP servers.
The client has DHCP on Unix servers. There are no Windows DHCP servers in the environment. Do we need Windows DHCP server for PXE boot.

You can use any modern DHCP server in your environment.  DHCP is just used to help point the BIOS/Network Card to the right server, which in this case is your ConfigMgr Distribution Point with PXE Enabled.
It is strongly recommended to use IP Helper Addresses instead of the DHCP options though.
    I hope that helps,

  • How to setup Word 2010 Workgroup Templates location with Office 2010 Customization Tool

I can't seem to find it under Modify Users Settings, Microsoft Word 2010, Word Options, Advanced, and File Locations.
    Is it configured somewhere else?

    Hi,
As we know, the workgroup templates file location are controlled by the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\General\[SharedTemplates]
The workgroup templates location will change after you change the string value of the registry key. We could deploy it via OCT directly.

  • Identifying Products Loaded on UNIX Servers

I am not an Oracle person so please excuse my ignorance. I am currently working on a project to identify various Oracle Products running on my compnay's Unix servers, of which we have over 300. I am using the discovery tool Peregrine IDD Analysis Workbench for this, but as this is an NT based product I need to "teach" Unix products. This is done by identifying the "main" file (in NT the .exe file) which indicates the presence of a particular product.
I am trying to identify DBEE, DBSE, SQL.PLUS & PARTITIONING....can anyone help me with the "main" file for each of these products?
Are DBEE & SQL.PLUS always loaded together or can one be loaded without the other?
Has anyone else been involved in "teaching" Oracle products using Peregrine IDD Analysis Workbench or similar?

In terms of what Pergrine would be looking for, the identifying file for sqlplus would be $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus.
For the rest, they are options for the installation, and not really separate products. The identifying file would be $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle for all. The only reliable way that I am aware of to determine which version (EE or SE, or indeed 7x,8x,9x) and which options (like partitioning) is to query the database directly.

  • Should I assign a virtual ip to the two unix servers

              Hi,
I want to know should I need to assign a virtual ip (e.g.
999.99.99.99) to the two UNIX servers which are using for
clustering of weblogic server ( assume the cluster address of
the two weblogic server is 999.99.99.99 )?
              chris

No, you don't have to do that. Each WLS server in your cluster should
              have a unique ip address.
Then you can have one DNS name that maps to these two address. Talk to
              your IS folks about this.

  • How can I open a Form located in UNIX

    Hi all,
    I have a problem!
The system in my company is a 3-tier architecture:
    Database-tier: SUN SOLARIS
Middle-tier (Oracle Application 11i): SUN SOLOARIS
    Clien-tier: Windows 2000/98
I want to customize the Oracle application's forms. How
can I open the forms source located in the UNIX (middle tier)
with forms 6i in Windows 2000?
If I FTP the source forms from UNIX to my working environment
(windows 2000), the attached library will be lost. How can
I easily do the development in such situation?
    Thank you very much!!!!!!

    Just remember,
the binaries will not be compatible. You can open an .fmb file and modify it on windows machine (assuming you are going to use the same version of developer), after the modifications are don on the windows end, you need to move (copy, ftp, your choice) back to Solaris, and recompile the same form on Solaris to generate a binary (.fmx) for that particular platform. If you made modifications on libraries and/or menus of the same application on windows end, you need to do the same thing - recompile it on the unix end to have the related plx and mmx files.

  • Template location after import

    Hi,
I tried importing a template in OVM 3.0.2
It downloaded template into the following location:

After import completed, .tgz template is not in tmp folder and
it is not shown in GUI server pools -> Templates also.
    Can someone please help me.
