Templates/tools for benchmarking/competitive comparison

Hi,
my english is not the best, so I will write this shortly.
Im searching a template/tool to compare an amount of companys.
We want do create a SharePoint-Project, where we can put all data we have about These companys.
Does anyone know a good tool?
Thank you for your help. :)

Hi,
We have a similar requirement.  Have you integrated with any other software to enable this?
Thanks.

  • Are there any performance benchmark tools for Flash?

    I am looking to benchmark Flash on various computers that I use.  I was surprised that the performance of Adobe Flash on my Intel i5 computer running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS and IE 10 was MUCH WORSE than running on a Windows 7 Pro 32-bit on an Intel i3 computer running the same browser.
    I have tried running both 32-bit IE and 64-bit IE and get the same general bad performance on the 64-bit Windows OS. I would like to find a tool to benchmark these various computers so that I can establish baseline performance while I explore finding a fix Adobe Flash on a 64-bit OS.
    Can someone suggest some tools for Flash performance benchmarking? Thank you.

    The best advise we can really give you is that both companies offer free trials and you should download them both and see which works best for you.  I own Parallels Desktop v6, and VMWare Fusion v3.  For me, VMWare s better for some things, but Parallels is better for most.  Depending on what you do and how you use your applications your milage may vary.
    One other note to keep in mind.  Since Apple is looking to release a new OS version in the very near future, you might want to hold-off a bit on our vitualization choice just yet.  I would exect that both companies will be working on a new release for support/compatibilty of the new MacOS, so you might want to wait to see if there are any other changes that make you want to lean towards one or the other...

  • File comparison tool for Windows 8.1?

    I'm looking for a file comparison tool. I'm on Windows 8.1 Pro (Upgrade). There was a program called Windiff. Is it still available, and functional for Win 8.1? If so, where do I get it? If not, or if there's anything better, what should I use? Thanks
    in advance for any help.

    Hi,
    It's ok to use fc command:
    >fc /?
    Compares two files or sets of files and displays the differences between
    them
    FC [/A] [/C] [/L] [/LBn] [/N] [/OFF[LINE]] [/T] [/U] [/W] [/nnnn]
       [drive1:][path1]filename1 [drive2:][path2]filename2
    FC /B [drive1:][path1]filename1 [drive2:][path2]filename2
      /A         Displays only first and last lines for each set of differences.
      /B         Performs a binary comparison.
      /C         Disregards the case of letters.
      /L         Compares files as ASCII text.
      /LBn       Sets the maximum consecutive mismatches to the specified
                 number of lines.
      /N         Displays the line numbers on an ASCII comparison.
      /OFF[LINE] Do not skip files with offline attribute set.
      /T         Does not expand tabs to spaces.
      /U         Compare files as UNICODE text files.
      /W         Compresses white space (tabs and spaces) for comparison.
      /nnnn      Specifies the number of consecutive lines that must match
                 after a mismatch.
      [drive1:][path1]filename1
                 Specifies the first file or set of files to compare.
      [drive2:][path2]filename2
                 Specifies the second file or set of files to compare.

  • How can I create template documents for non-InDesign users to edit the text of later?

    I'm looking to produce a small system for people within my company to edit and print labels as needed that comply with our internal design standards. I would like to use InDesign to produce a few templates for labels that people could then edit one or two fields later on, things like item name and ID number. I'm not averse to producing a small application in XCode that users can start up, enter their data and it saves the printer-ready label sheet to their desktop. I started out using Acrobat Pro, but I'm running into trouble embedding fonts for use in form fields, centering text, and outputting a filled-in pdf for print use, and not a form that submits info to an email or server. If InDesign is the wrong tool for the job of setting up a template like this, please feel free to suggest another route.

    I would direct you to the Acrobat forums, personally. You can enable rich-text formatting of Acrobat form fields from within Acrobat Pro, and also IIRC embed fonts for use in form fields. If you can spec out what you mean by "fine detail that we'd need" then we, or someone over at the Acrobat forums, can tell you whether or not rich text in Acrobat forms will work for you. I suggest this to you because centering text for Acrobat form fields is dead easy, so I suspect you've not investigated the tools available in Acrobat after you've exported the PDF from InDesign.
    Post-export PDF data merge sounds like, I dunno, variable-data printing? which doesn't sound like it would fit your case.

  • Unable to see columns of Data Model in Template Builder for Word.

    Experts,
    My customer has defined Data Model,
    and when Ct is trying to insert fields into their documents,
    the columns in the Data Model can't been seen in Template Builder for Word.
    (in tool bar; Oracle BI Publisher > Insert > Field)
    The details is as follow;
    (Data Model)
    Name : TEST
    Type : SQL Query
    SQL Query : select case_id,case_name from TEST where case_id = :p_case_id and serious_flag = 'Y';
    'p_case_id' is taken from LOV.
    (sample data in TEST table)
    CASE_ID CASE_NAME SERIOUS_FLAG
    1 case1
    2 case2 N
    3 case3 Y
    In this case, CASE_ID and CASE_NAME can't be seen in Template Builder.
    But we can see the columns when the sample data is as follow;
    CASE_ID CASE_NAME SERIOUS_FLAG
    1 case1 Y <-(*)
    2 case2 N
    3 case3 Y
    I mean, the data of the first row (in this case, case_id=1) is hit by the SQL query,
    we can see the columns in Template Builder.
    I'd like to know whether it is an intended behavior.
    Regards.

    Hi,
    I reformed the sample data in TEST table.
    In this case,the columns in the Data Model can't been seen in Template Builder for Word.
    CASE_ID CASE_NAME SERIOUS_FLAG
    1     case1
    2     case2     N
    3     case3     Y
    But we can see the columns when the sample data is as follow;
    CASE_ID CASE_NAME SERIOUS_FLAG
    1     case1     Y     &lt;=(*)
    2     case2     N
    3     case3     Y
    In fact, when the data of the first row (in this case, case_id=1) is hit by the SQL query,
    we can see the columns in Template Builder.
    Any information would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Kappy's Personal Suggestions About Mac Maintenance
    For disk repairs use Disk Utility.  For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utility is: Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption. Drive Genius provides additional tools not found in Disk Warrior for defragmentation of older drives, disk repair, disk scans, formatting, partitioning, disk copy, and benchmarking.
    Four outstanding sources of information on Mac maintenance are:
    1. OS X Maintenance - MacAttorney.
    2. Mac maintenance Quick Assist
    3. Maintaining Mac OS X
    4. Mac Maintenance Guide
    Periodic Maintenance
    OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) See Mac OS X- About background maintenance tasks. If you are running Leopard or later these tasks are run automatically, so there is no need to use any third-party software to force running these tasks.
    If you are using a pre-Leopard version of OS X, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced after Tiger.  (These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion and should not be installed.)
    Defragmentation
    OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive except when trying to install Boot Camp on a fragmented drive. Malware Protection
    As for malware protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. Starting with Lion, Apple has included built-in malware protection that is automatically updated as necessary. To assure proper protection, update your system software when Apple releases new OS X updates for your computer.
    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection:
    1. Mac Malware Guide.
    2. Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware
    3. Macintosh Virus Guide
    For general anti-virus protection I recommend only using ClamXav, but it is not necessary if you are keeping your computer's operating system software up to date. You should avoid any other third-party software advertised as providing anti-malware/virus protection. They are not required and could cause the performance of your computer to drop.
    Cache Clearing
    I recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX 2.4.3, Mountain Lion Cache Cleaner 7.0.9, Maintenance 1.6.8, or Cocktail 5.1.1 that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc. Corrupted cache files can cause slowness, kernel panics, and other issues. Although this is not a frequent nor a recurring problem, when it does happen there are tools such as those above to fix the problem.
    If you are using Snow Leopard or earlier, then for emergency cleaning install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. (AppleJack works with Snow Leopard or earlier.)
    Installing System Updates or Upgrades
    Repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand.
    Update your backups in case an update goes bad.
    Backup and Restore
    Having a backup and restore strategy is one of the most important things you can do to maintain your computer. Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. You can never have too many backups. Don't rely on just one. Make several using different backup utilities. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
         1. Carbon Copy Cloner
         2. Get Backup
         3. Deja Vu
         4. SuperDuper!
         5. Synk Pro
         6. Tri-Backup
    Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance and backup and restore.
    Always have a current backup before performing any system updates or upgrades.
    Final Suggestions
    Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity or 20 GBs, whichever is greater, as free space. Avoid installing utilities that rely on Haxies, SIMBL, or that alter the OS appearance, add features you will rarely if ever need, etc. The more extras you install the greater the probability of having problems. If you install software be sure you know how to uninstall it. Avoid installing multiple new software at the same time. Install one at a time and use it for a while to be sure it's compatible.

    Most if not all maintenance is for troubleshooting problems. If your computer is running OK, then there isn't really a thing you need to do except repair the hard drive and permissions before installing any new system updates.

  • [Reports]   The best reporting tool for JDeveloper 10g

    Hi,
    Which is the best reporting tool for JDeveloper 10g: JasperReports, Crystal Reports or something else? I want to build parametric and rather complex reports but I don't know which tool offers more features, flexibility, ease of use , ... . I've built some simple parametric reports using JasperReports and JDeveloper 10g but I think it's not so productive and may need something more, maybe iReport. Does anyone have any ideas?
    S/\EE|)

    Hi Saeed,
    I'lm using Jasper too, and here is an example of how i pass to it some variables:
         <parameter name="theWantedId" isForPrompting="false" class="java.lang.Integer"/>
         <queryString><![CDATA[SELECT field1, field2 from table1 WHERE table1.field1 = $P!{theWantedId}]]></queryString>And in a bean (or other java code from which the template is called)
            Map parameters= new HashMap();
            parameters.put("theWantedId", findSelectedId()); // return the ID of the object to print
            JasperDesign design =
                JRXmlLoader.load(myTemplate); // First load template from the Blob table in an inputstream
            JasperReport report =
                JasperCompileManager.compileReport(design);
            InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
            DataSource ds = (DataSource)initialContext.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/MYDATASOURCEConnectionDS");
            Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
            JasperPrint print =
                JasperFillManager.fillReport(report, parameters, conn);Hope that can help, if you need more information please ask,

  • Tools for Oracle Admin.

    Hi Gurus and admins.
    I have been lurking here for a while and I think that these groups are wicked cool! I left college ("school" to our American friends!) recently (degree in computer science) and have got a job as a junior oracle developer/dba with a small company near London. The company is "young and dynamic" (i.e. we have to work long hours ;( ), but there are good people here and lots of opportunities to learn. We are allowed choose our own tools for the work we do as long as we use the Subversion server for source control (sql - pl/sql - java - c) and use Bugzilla for reporting. Since these are browser based, this is not a problem and I can use my Linux box (nearly) all the time and the browser of my choice. Sometimes it is necessary to use Windows on client sites - amazingly, they tell us it's for security reasons - go figure! I want a lightweight admin tool that's Open Source (I did lot's of work on open source stuff when in college. Does anybody have any ideas? Mac.

    Hi Mac, and welcome to the forums,
    I have been lurking here for a while and I think that these groups are wicked cool!
    I left college ("school" to our American friends!) recently (degree in computer science)
    and have got a job as a junior oracle developer/dba with a small company near London.
    The company is "young and dynamic" (i.e. we have to work long hours ;( ), but there
    are good people here and lots of opportunities to learn. We are allowed choose our
    own tools for the work we do as long as we use the Subversion server for source
    control (sql - pl/sql - java - c) and use Bugzilla for reporting. Since these are browser
    based, this is not a problem and I can use my Linux box (nearly) all the time and the browser of my choice.
    Sometimes it is necessary to use Windows on client sites - amazingly, they tell
    us it's for security reasons - go figure! I want a lightweight admin tool that's Open
    Source (I did lot's of work on open source stuff when in college. Does anybody
    have any ideas? Mac.I looked at this at one point.
    There are a number of tools out there that are F\LOSS. There's TOra which is
    about the best of the Open Source stuff, however, development seems to have
    stopped around 2010. There's also http://www.sqltools-plusplus.org:7676/index.html (Windows only)
    from Randolph Geist - but it's ceased development also. Its advantage is that it can
    be run from a USB stick - but when I tried it recently, it didn't support the DESC table_name
    command - I have to say that I was disappointed.
    There are a number of SQL*Plus replacements out there - Go [url http://packages.python.org/sqlpython/comparison.html]here to check them out - most seem to
    have ceased development - apart from sqlpython and gqlplus.
    You mention security. I was on one client site where all we were allowed use was
    vi and SQL*Plus. There is a project [url http://code.google.com/p/vorax/]here which seeks to be a
    "simple, yet a powerful IDE for Oracle databases" by sort of combining vi with SQL*Plus. Haven't
    tried it, but it might be worth a look.
    You have to remember however that, while on client site, you may very well be constrained to use
    the tools that they tell you to use which will likely be (boring old) SQL*Plus and an editor.
    You may be denied the opportunity to use your latest whizz-bang tool and worse still, you may
    be stumped if you have to use tools with which you are not familiar.
    Download and play all you like with all of the marvellous stuff you can find on the interweb,
    but you must be familiar with SQL*Plus.
    As for a GUI tool, my recommendation is that you use SQL Developer if you are mostly running
    Linux - it also works on Windows. It's a java app, so it's a bit sluggish on machines with <= 2GB
    of RAM, but with laptops now at 8GB RAM and rising, that shouldn't be an issue.
    Even on Windows, personally I find TOAD to be very cluttered, but if your employer is willing
    to pay the (outrageous) licence costs, then I would make an effort to at least become somewhat
    familiar with it - it's pretty much a standard - many Oracle job offers mention TOAD.
    You have to ask yourself for your career &c., are you more interested in F\LOSS or becoming a
    competent Oracle professional.? It's likely that the latter will pay a better salary and, even if
    you don't add in the complcation of learning non-standard apps, there's a heck of a lot to learn
    with Oracle alone.
    Best of luck with your career.
    [EDIT sb92075 mentioned Squirrel SQL - I had meant to put it down also. If you want a tool to
    connect to all major (and a lot of minor) database servers (it uses JDBC - so if you have a driver
    you can connect) and perform ad-hoc queries - then Squirrel SQL is your man. I've used it
    for Firebird, MySQL (although Workbench is better), PostgreSQL and even Oracle - it's handy!

  • Single sourcing tools for paper and html help

    Hi
    Today I started a new job where html help is made in RoboHelp
    and the paper manual is made in Word. Both are translated to 5
    languages, so the translators also use Word and RoboHelp.
    Unfortunately there is no single sourcing at all.
    I want to introduce single-sourcing so that I use the same
    source for output to html help and paper.
    I am used to FrameMaker for paper output and the WebWorks
    Publisher plugin for the html help output.
    If I were alone I might use FrameMaker and Madcap Blaze. I
    think however that I can introduce one but not two new tools for
    the 5 translators.
    What Is your suggestion? Which tools should I use? Word
    hasn't the conditional text feature I need. I don't belive that
    RoboHelp can create a Word output which lives up to the Company
    design standards. Besides, will Robohelp live, does it works under
    Window Vista?

    Hi Polle2. First of all there are many users on these forums
    who use RH to single source with no problems. Sure RH single
    sourcing requires a little thought and set-up - just like most our
    "true single source" tools. There's a new version of RH planned
    (version X6) and currently in beta test but we won't know what
    included in it until it's formally released.
    As far as product comparisons are concerned, I've not used
    Madcap Blaze and neither has anyone else as I believe it's not
    released yet. My two penneth worth is you are right to go down the
    single sourcing line and that RH - and other tools - could all fit
    the bill. It all depends on which one fits your specific
    needs.

  • Tools for measuring BDB performance

    Hi all,
    Are there any tools available for benchmarking the performance of BDB ?
    Also how to use the test suite available with BDB distribution ?
    Thanks,
    david.

    Hello,
    MVCC alleviates reader/writer contention at the cost of additional memory.
    When MVCC is not used, readers trying to read data on page X might block for a writer modifying content on page X. With MVCC, the readers will not block. The fact that readers are not blocked will result in better performance (throughput and/or response time).
    So, your test should have some "hot spots" which would create this contention. You should have transaction mix of readers and writers. Without MVCC, you'll see that readers block (resulting in lower throughput). With MVCC, you should see that readers continue, thus getting more transactions per second.
    As long as the rows that you store in Berkeley DB are smaller than a page size, my opinion is the row size doesn't matter (Berkeley DB does page level locking).
    As mentioned above, memory requirements for MVCC are higher, so to get the additional performance benefit, the 4.6.21 run will probably need a bigger cache.
    That's the general answer.
    This is an interesting exercise. Good luck!
    Warm regards.

  • Reporting tools for VS2012 Express missing

    Hello,
    I am just about at my wits end here. I am wondering what I am doing wrong with this. I am trying to use the Microsoft.ReportViewer.WinForms.dll to create simple reports in my Windows Forms application. I have SQL Server 2012 installed, and have just installed
    SQL Data Tools for Visual Studio which are no use at all. I have also installed the microsoft report viewer 2012 runtime and acquired version 11 report viewer. I can get the report viewer on my form in designer, however the "Design new report" doesnt
    do a damn thing. I am also missing the "Templates" tab when trying to add a new item, as well as all reporting items, therefore I cant create an rdlc file. I just want to know why these things arent in my visual studio, and how to get them in asap.
    Below is the image of the add new item dialog, with the absence of the reporting items. (Which I cant post yet because I am not verified).
    My options look like this
    <Installed>
       <Visual C# Items>
          <Code>
          <Data>
          <General>
          <Windows Forms>
          <WPF>
    <Online>
    Having worked with these before and it being simple I assumed it would be this time but I've spent the best part of 6 hours installing things to no avail.
    Any help is much appreciated as I am very close to a deadline.

    You mean a tool that will allow you to output your report results in a fancier format, right??
    yes, something like that.
    APEX already is a reporting tool. To get a free print engine, there is FOP (do NOT know if it runs under glassfish), JasperReports (again, No idea if it runs under glassfish)..
    thanks. i will check on this. i did find a thread were someone said they got it working with jasperreports but there wasn't much info on it. i'll keep searching for more info.
    The company will atleast be using a paid for version of database, right? If so, then they have rights to the OHS... (Oracle's Application Server)..
    this company is an outsourcing company that outsources oracle developers. they have a licensed oracle database 10 enterprise edition but i think it's a development license. if it's ok to use that then the better. otherwise it will be oracle xe for now.
    initially i will propose the use of all these free open source tools. and inform them that being free means limitations. then if they demand something more, then that's the time i will inform them about alternatives like bi publisher. eventually they'll need to upgrade to at least standard edition of the database if data volume grows.
    Get your mind out of the gutter! Grab mine while you're there, please.
    hope is good. who knows, maybe someone out there may have already found a good tool or may be someone is building one. or maybe oracle will get a big heart and maybe create a lite version of bi publisher for free of use or they can add a lite version of bi publisher for the oracle database 11g xe edition. ( probably asking too much from oracle =)
    regards,
