Tempo events stop the song

It's funny:
The project is playing,
Logic sees that there's a tempo change coming up in the composition,
and...BAM!
Logic STOPS the whole Song, and pops open the warning dialog box:
"Multiple Tempo Events detected, open Tempo window?"
"Wow! But no thanks", I say to the arrange window,
"I put the tempo event in there."
_Every time_ a tempo change approaches
I am greeted with total silence and a popup warning dialog box.
Wouldn't it be nice if the song didn't *stop all audio*
just to +warn me+ there's a tempo change coming up?lol.
How about these new additions to version 9:
*Need to use the scissors tool? You have to stop the song before you can snip.*
Every time you change the loop markers you have to stop the song, then press play again
or Logic will just keep on playing right past the loop!
*Move an audio region* in the arrangement?
*stop the song, then press play again* or Logic will not even notice you moved the audio.
Please understand: if you outsourced development of this app, you without a doubt
need to hire a new room full of developers.
Maybe even put a--dare I suggest--A P-R-O-D-U-C-E-R in the room with them?
*Disk Overload or Computer is too slow.* <- saw this one when I was
running version 5 on Windows '98.
Who wants to be the first to tell S.J. that a 2010 MacPro is too slow to run his
flagship audio app? Because I will write the email right now.
*Problem synch'ing Audio and Midi.* So many years of this one and still going strong.
Windows '98 running Logic version 4.5--> SAME WARNING DIALOGS.
So..still workin' on the fixes, guys? lmao.

Seems it'll work with Movies, TV Shows, etc. but not with music.
You can double click iTunesDJ and add the music there to listen to (select it, right click Add to iTunesDJ).
Then view the music in the library.

  • Logic 9.1.1 and Omnisphere stuck notes stopping the song: help

Working with Omnisphere: stopping the song causes stuck notes of Omni parts. Restarting stuck notes quit. Stopping again > stuck notes again. The workaround is to open Omni GUI: this way stuck notes aren't anymore.
    Any other has this issue?

Yes of course. Just installed... On the contrary on the ext HD system (10.5.8 with Logic 8.0.2) all is fine...

Assuming your library was in the standard layout before you started move the rest of the iTunes folder to the root of the external drive, move the iTunes Media folder inside it, and shift-start iTunes to connect to library file at \iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.

  • Next Song Button - Stops the song and does not advance to the next song

I just loaded 8.0.2.20. Now I cannot use the ">>" next song button. I've tried many playlists and rebooted the system - no luck.
If song 1 in my playlist is playing and I click on the next song button, song 1 stops, song 1 remains highlighted in the main display area (list view).

I just figured this out. All of my songs were "unchecked" after I was working on setting up iTunes for multiple ipods. Now that they are all check, the "forward" or "Next" button works fine.

  • How can I play only part of a song (stop the song short) during a slideshow in iphoto and fade into the next song?

I am making a slideshow and I only want to play half of one song and fade into the next. How can I do this?

You need an slideshow app that gives you more control over the Soundtrack.
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
    iMovie, on every Mac sold.
Others, in order of price:  PhotoPresenter  $29
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Express  $199
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs.  However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Express is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • I need to adjust the tempo of a commercial song imported from iTunes

I need to reduce the tempo of a commercial song which I imported to GB from iTunes by ~6%. Can I do this in GB, and if so, how?

If you need a precise value, I suggest using an audio editor (e.g. Audacity, which is free) to achieve this - you can add numerical values there. If you use GB, you can only adjust the tempo in integer steps, and the percentage value depends on the tempo you start with.
What you could do in GB is the following:
    • set the song's tempo to 100
    • import your audio file
    • turn the orange region into a purple one and check "follow tempo & pitch"
    • set the song's tempo to 94.

P.S : if u could could you e-mail me and explain how if there is an option I can choose to stop the songs from going off my ipod when I delete them from my comp. e-mail me at [email protected]

You'll eventually want to Transfer music manually
    However:
Deleting songs off of iTunes or your computer is a very bad idea unless you have created one or more backup files of all your songs.
The iPod is really designed to be playback device - not a primary storage device (although it can be used as such), and certainly not as the only storage medium for all your music.
Using the iPod as the sole repository of any of your songs is a very risky practice. When (not ‘if’) you need to restore the iPod, return the iPod for service, or it's song files are somehow lost or damaged, you will be re-ripping all your CDs back into iTunes (time-consuming for any more than 10-20 CDs) and re-purchasing all your iTMS songs (expensive). Restoring the iPod is a common ‘fix’ to many small issues that arise.
If you cannot store your songs on a PC or within iTunes, then you will need to have some storage medium in use (an external hard drive, DVDs or CDs). You should also consider a secondary backup medium for additional safety. Whether you keep your music in iTunes or on an external source – Multiple copies of your music files are a must!
Always backup your PC files: both music and data. Backup as frequently as possible. The usual ‘metric’ is to determine just how much work (hours, days, weeks) or money spent you are willing to repeat by extending out your time between backups. Your choice, your potential headache &/or loss.
Many data-savvy folks have more than one backup and create incremental backups every time they add to or change their Library. Depending on the work I am doing, I may perform several backups during the same day. As they are incremental, and placed on my Backup ExHD – it is a very quick operation to perform several times a day, when needed.
If you are heavily invested in your Library data (Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings, Last Played, Date Added, etc.), then:
it is critical that you also make multiple backups of your ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file.
iTMS REMINDER: While you can always take the time to re-rip the CDs you own to restore your iTunes music, if you lose your iTMS purchased music and have no backups, you will have to re-purchase them. Few exceptions are made to this rule – at least none that I am aware of.
Here is a post on developing a backup strategy:

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Insert MIDI Stop into Song

I hope someone can tell me if this is possible or not. For a show that I'm doing, I'd like Logic Express to play the tracks up to a certain point, and then stop automatically. From that point, I'll trigger Logic Express from my keyboard to continue.
Setting up the key to start playback was easy. Is there any way to insert a Stop Playback message within the song itself? Everything in the manual seems to refer to another clock syncing up to do this; I plan on playing along with the tracks I've created, but having them stop while I continue - until I need them to come in again.
Hopefully it's something simple that I've overlooked, but I'm nearly at my wits end! Hopefully, someone's gone through this before, but I can't seem to find any messages that relate.
    Much thanks,
    Chris
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Thanks for the response ... and while I could set up another key (or the same one) to send a stop message, that's a less attractive option than having the message within the song itself.
The setup is this: I'll be playing along to the computer during a performance. At certain points in some songs, I need to be able to keep playing the piano while the sequencer stops. I then need to start it precisely when I get my visual cue from the vocalist. If I stop the song with a key (or a pedal), there is no guarantee that I'll have the precision I need to start at beat one of the next measure.
I do appreciate the suggestion, though. I guess I should have been more specific in why I was asking the original question.
    Thanks!

  • Stop a song

How can I stop the audio? It is obvious how to play and pause a song, but it is not clear how I can stop the song? I have the ipod video 30G 5th generation.
    Many thanks

On devices such as the iPod, Pause and Stop are the exact same function. So there really isn't a need for two separate buttons that do the same thing.
On older devices such as tape players and CD players, Pause and Stop were similar but different functions. On a CD player, for example, Pause will stop playing the music but the disk would remain spinning. The Stop function stops the music and the spinning of the disk. So two buttons are needed.

  • Video Scoring Woes: Tempo Events and SMPTE

    Hi All,
    Rohan Stevenson1 wrote:
    1. so set your tempo for the start of your cue at the start point of your cue. (door slam)
    2. decide which bar or which part of the bar your next sync point will be (gunshot) and add a tempo there.
    3. type in the smpte position of the gun shot at the second tempo event.
    4. bingo. logic calculates the correct tempo in your first tempo event.
    5. a point to note, if you are wanting to preserve tempo changes previous to a sync point and only change something further back in the cue, select all the tempi you want to preserve, and type in the smpte position of the last one, and only the last unselected tempo event will have its tempo altered.
This is the procedure I follow to sync up the music with certain video events. While this method syncs everything perfectly without changing the tempo events preceding the previous tempo event, it does however change all the following events' SMPTE positions. This effectively ruins the synchronization of all the music that follows that section of music.
How does one sync up the barlines of a section of music to the video's SMPTE positions without changing all following tempo events' SMPTE positions.
    Thanks for any help
    David

    hi mate,
what you need is what i like to call a buffer tempo event.
in the case you illustrated it will come AFTER your gunshot.
    1. so, if you have tempo events you want to preserve AFTER the one you are editing, insert your 'buffer' tempo event before the next set of tempo events, at least 3 or 4 bars before.
    2. then double click the SMPTE field of the tempo event AFTER your newly inserted 'buffer' tempo.
    3. copy to clipboard.
    4. go back and make your tempo our smpte adjustment for the bit you are tweaking.
    5. when you have done that, go back to the tempo event AFTER the 'buffer' event you inserted. paste the smpte field back from the clipboard.
    6. the buffer event will turn into something whacky to ensure the rest of your material is in the correct place.
remember, you won't be editing the buffer event, just supplying it for logic to do its calculations to, to make your tempi for your cue be in the right position.
    does this make sense?
