Is it possible to temporarily Disable / Shutting OFF home WiFi made by these airports ?
Yes, remove the power plug from the back of the AirPort.
Turning off the router though won't do anything to reduce the radiation that you are being constantly bombarded with by cell phones, cordless phones, public radio, television broadcasts, police and fire radios, CB radios, camera and security systems, overhead electrical wires and the list goes on and on.
WiFi signals are the least of your problems, but turning off the AirPort might reduce radiation by a tiny fraction of a percent if that will help you.

  • Can I shut off wifi to prevent my ipod touch music library from being tampered with?

I switched to a different media source but once more my CD music disappeared. But instead of being corrupted this time it was converted to other. It was fixed by just pulling up the music app list and unchecking/checking the songs again thankfully though.. But if I shut off my wi-fi on my ipod will this prevent my cd music on my touch from being messed with?
I already got off the phone with a rep two days ago and they scratched their heads as to what's even causing this. We did everything known to fix it, and after looking at the numerous threads now its obvious it isn't just a hardware issue. Everyone is having issues with their cd music. I'd rather just have this nightmare end by any means possible.

I doubt wifi has anything to do with  unless yo have the iPod and iTunes setup to sync via wifi.
To turn wifi off place the iPod in airplane mode.

  • HT201263 i forgot my passcode and can't use the normal recovery methods because i can't shut off find my i phone as i don't have wifi turned on to wipe it with i cloud and when i do a recovery mode it simply locks back up.

find my i phone is turned on and my wifi is shut off so i cant wipe it with icloud.
when i do recovery mode it just locks back up.

If you have forgotten the passcode for the lock screen, connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to set up a new code during this process. Check this article about it:

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • I have the iPhone4. It wont stay on unless it's plugged into the charger. When on the charger it doesn't get service or connect to wifi. Sometimes, even on the charager it shuts off. Note: It's always on 100% to 90%. How do I fix this?

As stated. I have the iPhone4, I've had it personally for a year now. It's a hand-me-down phone from my uncle who had for for at least two years. For an old phone it worked perfectly. The ocassional hang up on the caller when I try to lock it, but overall it worked perfectly.
Now, it started to glitch out a lot. From not letting me unlock my phone for the few minutes, to now shutting off on on regardless of where it's at. I started noticing that my phone would shut itself off, even at 40% when I'm at work. To fix it I would have to find a charger, plug it in for a few moments and it would turn back on. I would be cautious not to put it upsidedown otherwise it'd shut off again.
As of last night, ((9/18/13 )) My phone turned off. I've already gone through the charade numerous times. So I put it on my charger but this time when my phone turned on I didn' have service and it didnt get wifi. Even the red buttons/notifications on my phone were there but didn't read any numbers. Obvioulsy I couldn't make calls or even send a text messages. Sometimes when it turns on I can't even use my apps. Even when fully charged, the moment the chargers is slightly out my phone shuts off as if it died
Now, my phone even on the charger shuts on and off. I'm unable to use apps. I get no service or wifi.
Is this fixable? Or has my phone had it's last Hoorah?

it sure sounds like the battery is defect

  • Can you shut off the Internet on a iPhone 4s and still use it with a wifi connection ?

Can you shut off the Internet on a iPhone 4 and then use the phone as normal

I assume that you're asking if you can shut off cellular data (as no individual can shut off the Internet! )? Yes, you can turn off cellular data and use the phone features (except for MMS which requires cellular data) and access the Interenet via WiFi.

  • P205-6267 - WiFi mysteriously shuts off - Win 8.1 32-bit

I resurrected an old Satellite laptop my daughter was using for a long time as a 'desktop.' Monitor wasn't working. Once I got her a desktop PC, I managed to repair the display, install a new hard drive and install Win 8.1 32-bit on it.
It has been working well for a few months (wicked fast with Verizon FIOS - 35mbps!) but now I'm having a mysterious problem with the internal WiFi adapter mysteriously shutting off for no apparent reason. Sometimes the troubleshooter can turn it back on, sometimes not and I have to reboot. Lately even rebooting doesn't help - it comes up turned off.
I recently had an overheating problem, solved with an air cleaner spray can. I worry the overheating may have damaged something.
I don't know if the adapter is going bad or if it's a Win 8.1 compatibility issue. I could go back to Win 7 32 bit if necessary, but I'd prefer to fix this first, if possible.
    Details:
    P205-6267
    Windows 8.1 32-bit
    3GB RAM
    Network Adapters:
      Intel(r) Wireless WifFi Link 4965AGN
      Driver Date 10/7/2010 Version 13.4.0.139
Digital Signer Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Layer
"Update Driver" says the best dirver is already installed.
Device Manager says "The Device is working properly."
I don't mind downgrading to Win7 but I don't want to do all that only to find it's a hardware problem. Any install I do will be a clean install - I don't have or want the Toshiba disks.
Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts regarding:
    Running Win 8.1 on a p205
Troubleshooting a possible hardware failure on the WiFi adapter
Buying / Installing a replacement WiFi unit if it IS a hardware failure
Upgrading the CPU to run 64-bit Windows (that last is extra)
    Thanks in advance...
    Barry

Just to let everyone know, I downgraded to Windows 7 32-bit and everything seems stable and fine. My guess is there was some incompatibility or insufficiency in the WiFi driver that made it unreliable in Windows 8.

  • Internal mic wont shut off even though its disabled. How do I fix this?

Im trying to run samplitude music studio mx software and use the line in and mic in ports to record. The external mic that's built into my laptop wont shut off, and records background noise on my tracks. I have an HP Pavilion dv7-6c95dx with an i7-2670QM processor running windows 7 home premium. How do I disable it from somewhere else besides the control panel, because it suggests the mic is disabled already? will I need a different laptop to run the software?

    Hi,
Did you solve this problem because I have EXACTLY the same one.  I am running Samplitude Music Studio 2013 on Windows 7 Home Premium on a Pavillion D6.  I have high quality external mike input ruined becaus the on-board condenser mike will not disable, even though I disabled the "Integrated microphone array" as recommended.  Is it because some software or other device driver keeps it active? Samplitude has no disable function for input devices and it makes no difference if you run WDM, MME or ASIO device drivers.
I did have to replace the computer screen once. Possible glitch? I hear DELL stopped ptting built-in mikes into their laptops!
    Any advice/help deeply appreciated!

    Glitchs like that sometimes happen
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If sit still reocurrs a lot, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

i broke my iphone 4s screen, then i tried to fix and replace it by myself. unfortunately, i cannot do that correctly. i also damaged my wifi parts and shut off button. and my new screen is very hard to drive and use. i really want to repair those 3 problems. what should i do? how much money will be cost?

    Hello!
When there is unauthorized modifications on the iPhone Apple doesnt replace the product. Unfortunately you will need to get a new iPhone!
If you could have contacted Apple when you broke your screen you would be eligible to get a replacement after paying the Out of Warranty service fee.
    All the best!

  • Airport Randomly Shuts-Off; Reboot Will Temporarily Solve The Problem

Ever since I've bought my Mac (July 2010) I've been having trouble with the Airport. I'll be browsing the net and all of a sudden my pages won't load, it just stops. The Airport icon in the menubar shows full signal, but when I go into System Preferences it says that my Airport if "Off." When I click the button to turn it on it acts like a dummy button, it just doesn't do anything. I can click it twenty-times and my Airport will still be off.
I doubt this is a router problem as I have tried this with various routers at various places. I took it into the local library, a hotel, a local gas station that has Wi-Fi and it continues to happens. Not to mention that the Airport itself shuts off. This really ***** when you're in the middle of a 1GB update and it just stops...then you have to start over.
After I do a complete reboot the Airport is on again, well most of the time. Sometimes it just stays off and I reboot it again. Sometimes it stays on for three-days and sometimes it stays on for five-minutes and I have to reboot six times or so until it stays on for a while. The average is about 30minutes until it shuts down again.
I've tried reinstalling my operating system, delete preference files, deleting my Airport connection and then recreating it, updating my Mac, trying different firewall settings, I tried booting in 64bit mode. Nothing seems to work. I tried an Apple Hardware test two times. One time I just did it and it reported no problems. The second time I waited until it shut down but it reported nothing, although I think it's because I rebooted and the Airport was "fixed" and it detected nothing.
I thought this was just something temporarily when I got my Mac so I waited and didn't call support. After 8months I decided to call support and they want $50 to try to diagnose it for me, which isn't fair because it happened from day one and I just thought an update or something would fix it. Not to mention, that a Genius Bar will look at it for free (two hours away from the closest one). Any hints, ideas, or tips? Thanks.

Sorry for bringing this ancient thread back to life.
Back when I originally posted this, I did take your advice. I drove 2.5hours to the nearest Apple store and left it overnight for them to do diagnostics. They could find nothing (or so they claimed) and have me drive back up the next day to get it.
Ever since I've been dealing with the issue. Finally I broke down and bought a new Airport card and antenna. It worked about a day and then the same issue appeared again.
I'm now on 10.8.2 with 8GB of RAM and an SSD – still the same laptop though.

  • Ipad keeps  coming on and  online, even though I have it shut off and  wifi shut off, why is this and how can I stop it?  After shutting it off,  sometimes   10 minutes,  or hours later it comes back on, even when not using it

When my Ipad has been disconnected from wifi and  shut off, it keeps  coming back on and online.  It can happen in 10 minutes, or hours later,  happens  irregulary.  Have noticed when it happens, I get nofications  from facebook of  comments and or posts..  I can switch the wifi off,    switch the iPad off and  then set it beside me,  hour later it dings, i have  noficiations of  face book things, and its online again.. why is this and how can I stop it from happening?

Yes, I went to settings and turned wifi off.  Thought at first I wasnt letting it set for a sec or two before shutting the iPad off.  so now I wait like a minute or two  before shutting the iPad down.  didnt  seem to help.  Tried  actually logging out of  facebook when I was  done with it,  worked for about  4 days, and now it has started  coming on and coming online again,,  I  went through my notifications and  shut things off,   Well  see if it works.  thank you.
