Temporarily Hiding Elements in Edit Mode

I'm working on a Keynote '09 presentation with a lot of animated elements on each slide. Some of the elements are stacked, which is making it tough to select the elements below when editing the slides. I've not been able to find an easy way to temporarily hide elements so I can select what's below. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I am trying to figure this out as well. If I do, I'll post the answer back here.

  • Hiding Parsys in Edit Mode

    Hello,
    I'm building a tabbed component and I'm having trouble hiding the parsys section for inactive tabs using CSS styling (whether visibility or display).  Even though I set the visibility of the parent DIV the parsys is sitting to hidden, it still displays on the page while in Edit mode (works in Preview).
    <%
            String[] linkname = properties.get("navitems", String[].class);
            for (int i = 0; i < linkname.length; i++) {
              if (i == 0) {
                %><div class="miniShow" style="visibility: visible;"><%
              } else {

                  <div class="<%= "basicMiniShow"+(i)%>"><cq:include path="<%= "mininav"+i %>" resourceType="foundation/components/parsys"/></div>
                </div>
              <%
             } // end for
    %>
    With the code above, as my JavaScript function properly swaps between tabs and shows the components in the parsys, the subsequent "Drag your components here" box doesn't disappear.  For example, if I add 2 tabs and place a Button in the first parsys and a Image in the second, swapping tabs correctly shows/hides the button/image respectively - however the "Drag your components here" box for both are always visible.
    What am I missing here?

    The error message "No more virtual tiles can be allocated" appears when I try to use the effects in the quick editing mode in my Elements 13. The baton OK has to be pressed several times for loading all effect patterns. The error returns when selecting the particular pattern.
    The problem does not appear, if PH Elements 13 is executed in the administrator mode.
    The available computer resources are rather  large enough: CPU INTEL i7 4 cores,  16GB RAM, 1TB HDD + 32GB SSD, Windows 8.1.
    Please, advice how to solve this problem? Maybe, there is patch or updating available?

    Dear n_pane,
    Thank you for the quick answer. In the meantime I found other way to pass by the problem. I increased the cache level up to the maximum value 8.
    The errors reported as "No more virtual tiles can be allocated" vanish, but I still do not understand, why PSE 13 cannot work properly by the lower cache levels, having available maximum resources it needed (10443 MB RAM and 26.53GB SSD space for scratches), or cannot collaborate with the fast SSDs properly.
    I wish you all the best in the New Year 2015!

  • Elements 11 - unable to switch editing modes after installing

    Hi, I have just installed Photoshop Elements 11 on a Mac OSX 10.6.8 and I am unable to switch editing modes (quick / guided / expert). In fact, none of the buttons on the top bar responds to my clicks. In addition, I am unable to quit the programme, instead, I have to force quit it each time.

    Thanks for the replies.  I was able to sort this myself after I watched the the following video on how to reset the Adobe preferences:  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/how-to-reset-photoshop- cs6s-preferences-file/   I did the manual reset where I moved only the preference file to another location e.g. the Desktop.  I restarted my computer.  Closed Bridge CS5 that was running in the background and then clicked on Bridge CS6 and the program opened.  I decided to take a chance to see if this won't fix it and was elated when it worked.  Don't ask my why, but it did the job!

  • Problems opening edit mode from Main Menu in Elements 8

    Photoshop Elements won't open in edit mode after the main menu comes up fine. The other choice, and I forget what that is because I never use it, DOES open up. I use Lightroom for 98 percenr of PP of photo files. I DO use Elements once in a while for a couple of tweaks. Anyway, I clicked debug and I read the following message:
    error signature: appname:photoshopelements.exeAppver8.0.0.0 modname
    Another time I tried to open the main window into edit mode, and it would not open into edit mode, so I clicked on debug and read this message:
    c:\document~1\gregmc~1\locals~1\temp\2499_appcompat.txt
    And yet another time I tried to open the main window into edit mode, and it would not open into edit mode, so I clicked on debug and read this message:
    c:\document~1\gregmc~1\locals~1\temp\f717_appcompat.txt
    Not sure what to do. I can always uninstall the entire program, and then reinstall.
    One thing I did do, tonight, was uninstall the Adobe inspiration browser and then installed the update, as per the window prompted me to do when the program first loads onscreen. I thought maybe this was the issue, being lapse on updating something, But, I closed out the program post install, and then opened the program again, and was once again unable to open the edit portion of the program. Again, the other choice (window) works fine, though I don't use it. Only the edit portion of the program won't open up to use.
    Thanks.

    Christine,
    Let's try to avoid the welcome screen and open the editor from a desktop shortcut:
    For Windows (I have WIN-7), the path is:
    C>Program Files (x86)>Adobe>Photoshop Elements 8>Right click on that>Send to>Desktop shortcut

  • Elements 3.0 - Change editing mode and timebase?

    Hey all,
    I'm using Premiere Elements 3.0 and I'm trying to create a custom preset for my new project. My source files for this project are all at 23.976 frames per second, so I wanted the project to match that. But in the "Custom Presets" window, the drop-downs for Editing Mode and Timebase are greyed out - I cannot change the settings to anything other than 29.97 fps. Plus, the only Display Format options have 30 fps.
    Is there any way I can set these to 23.976 or 24 fps?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Aw poo, that's disappointing. Oh well, thanks for letting me know!

  • Correctly Hide Edit Mode Elements in Preview Mode

    Hello,
    I wanted to know how I should modify the code below to correctly show content in the correct mode?  The code below works, but when switching to preview mode, I have to manually refresh the page to get the "Preview/Publish mode text" to disappear.  I'm aware I could modify the sidekick to force a refresh, but I'd prefer to do it similarly to how CQ does it (eliminate all edit mode components immediately without refreshing the page).  Thoughts?
    import="com.day.cq.wcm.api.WCMMode"
    <%
        if ((WCMMode.fromRequest(request) == WCMMode.EDIT) || (WCMMode.fromRequest(request) == WCMMode.DESIGN)) {
            %><div>Edit mode only text</div><%
        } else {
            %><div>Preview/Publish mode text</div><%
    %>

    Hi,
    As the above code is evaluated server side and edit/preview is triggered client side this approach will not work for you.
    You could use the fact that CQ is adding "cq-wcm-edit" class to page body in edit mode and "cq-wcm-preview" in preview and hide your divs by CSS.

  • Can't open photos in edit mode

    I can;t open photos in edit mode in iPhoto '08. When I double click on a photo the main window remains blank (no "!" no"?"). This problem occurs with every photo in the library. My permissions are OK. I've also tried setting the preferences to edit in Photoshop but double clicking on the photos then still accomplishes nothing.

    Steve:
    Do you get a blank white window in the edit mode? If so that may mean you do not have access to the files. Try the following:download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
    FYI:
    Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
    1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
    2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
    3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
    This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
    If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPhoto won't show Photoshop Elements 6 editing.

    When I drag a photo from iPhoto into Photoshop Elements 6 and edit then save it, the edits do not show in IPhoto. What am I doing wrong. Right now I'm doing a work-around of saving to desktop, importing and merging events but this is tedious. I thought Photoshop was supposed to be compatible with iPhoto. I am running iPhoto 8 with Photoshop Elements 6 on a PowerBook G4 and Leopard OS.

    Although you've solved your problem there may be some info in this tip that will help:
    Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
    1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
    2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.

You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
    This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
    NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
