Temporarily Moving Address
Hi all,
Really looking for some help & advice on my options.
I've got to move out of my propeerty for some major construction works to be done, I'll be out for 8-10 weeks, I'm disabled and heavily dependant on internet for things like grocery shopping, banking, paying bills, email etc... so am wondering if there is any way I can tempoararily have my exisiting BT phone number, broadband service transferred from the property I'll be moving out of to the temporary accommodation for the duaration of the renovation works, then transfer them back again when works have been completed and I return. Or would I be better off just depending on my mobile phone for phone calls and using a friends broadband connection to make use of internet services to avoid any disruption or mix ups with the transferring back and fore of the BT line details...!!
If there's anyone who has any exxperience of a similar situation and what they did, or how they found BT's customer service under such circumstances, I'd love to hear from you...!!

Welcome! I'm not sure whether a temporary change is theoretically feasible or not. What is clear from this forum though is that such service changes are often subject to considerable delay and don't always go smoothly. If I was you I would probably leave well enough alone and go for the workround, especially as you would be dependent on two moves in a relatively short period.

If you didn't use Sync or can't access your account, someone with access to your old computer could email you your bookmarks. Since there is a range of different ways to do that and the best choice might depend on what you can expect the person you ask to be able to do... could they start up Firefox in your profile and follow menu steps to export a file? Could they drill down into a hidden folder on the system, zip a file, and mail that to you? Etc. -
Catching 302 - temporarily moved code.
Hi,
I am trying to connect to a webserver and authenticate from a java program. Once authenticated, the server seems to send a cookie with the id and a "302 - temporarily moved" status.
I want to catch this part and save the cookie so i can issue more requests to the server. But when i use a URLConnection and read the stream data, I seem to get the final redirected page where the cookie is lost. Could someone please point me to what is wrong in the code below

Looking for bright ideas for moving address book from MacBookPro that can't be upgraded from OS 10.5.8 (big bummer!) to iCloud and iPad2
Have you tried exporting the contacts from address book on your mac to your desktop and importing them into the iCloud contact file using the import command from the menu when you select the gear icon.

In Outlook, the Inbox folder does not show up under Mailbox - User Name. Starting with "Outlook Today" and clicking on the "inbox" like he can get to his messages.
In OWA the envelope icon shows up but instead of saying "Inbox" it had a URL like "http://video.google.com&search="...
I used exmerge to extract the data for the user, deleted the mailbox, then used exmerge to import it back.
"Inbox" now shows up in OWA but when Outlook is launched it gives this message:
"Your mailbox has been temporarily moved on Microsoft Exchange Server. A temporary mailbox exists, but might not have all of your data. You can connect to the temporary mailbox or work offline with all of your old data. If you choose to work with your old data, you cannot send or receive e-mail messages."
Did I miss a step somewhere?I just encountered the same problem, and was able to get all of my old data back to my new profile (contacts, saved e-mails, inbox folders, etc.). Before creating a new profile, when the error message appears,
choose the option to use old data. When outlook loads (using Outlook 2010), go to File -> Options and click on 'Advanced'. You should see an 'Export' section, click on the 'Export' button. An 'Import and Export Wizard'
window will appear, click on 'Export to a File' and click next, then choose 'Outlook data file (.pst)'. The next screen will ask you a folder to export, in which you can choose from all your outlook folders...for a complete backup, I suggest choosing
the root folder. It should be the name of your profile, for example: "username @hotmail.com". Make sure 'Include subfolders' is checked. The final screen will ask what location to store the .pst file in, and if you want to add a password
to it. Now you've backed up all your Outlook data :)
To import the .PST to your new profile, make sure to change Outlooks default profile to the new one you've created (as Deli suggested). When outlook loads up, click on File -> Open, and then click on 'Import'. Choose 'Import from another program
or file' and click next, then choose 'Outlook data file (.pst)' and click next. Now you just point it to the .pst file you exported earlier, and all of your information will be imported into Outlook in its own folder. From there you can drag everything
(emails, contacts, etc.) into the folders that you want. And that's it, hope this helps someone else. -
Is there a way to stop iCal moving address info from event text into 'location'??
Hi, I've just come back to the forum after a long time away, so sorry if this has already been covered, but...
When I create a new event in iCal and type in text which includes an address, the address segnment is automatically moved into 'location'. I find this infuriating as for work reasons I later need to copy and paste all the event text into another app, and the address is now in a different place! As an additional irritation, iCal also screws with the address text and switches the postal code into upper and lower case, so I have to re-type part of it when I move it back into the main event text. Moving Address Book to encrypted disk image
How can I protect the privacy of the content within Address Book and iCal? Would moving those applications to an encrypted disk image be sufficient or are there other related files located elsewhere that I need to be concerned with? Also, what would be the ramifications of not having those applications located within the Applications folder?
If you put the files on an encrypted disc image, then you will need to decrypt them in order to make changes. Using an encrypted disc image is mostly a method for archival storage.
You could enable File Vault which will create an encrypted version of your Home folder. This method allows you to access your data on the File Vault protected Home folder.
If you are the only user it may be sufficient that you simply not allow anyone to know your admin password, and that you log out or shut down when the computer will be unattended. You can also create a new standard account, then log in only to the standard account. The admin account would then only be used to install software and perform other chores requiring admin access. -
Moving Address Book contacts from laptop to desktop
I was doing some updating of my Address Book contacts this afternoon when the program majorly crashed, and then lost every single contact that was in there....
Luckily, I have another copy on my laptop. I'm just not sure now how to get the data from my laptop back to my desktop. I have done the following:
- attached the two computers with Firewire
- moved the folder myusername/library/applicationsupport/addressbook from the laptop to the same place on the desktop.
This seemed to be recommended in another thread, but it's not working for me - when I open Address Book in my desktop again, it's still empty. Can anyone tell me what I should do next (short of typing all the addresses back in again by hand)?Did you check the Permissions on that folder & contents after you moved it?
Did you Verify & Repair if needed the HD on the Desktop first? -
Moving address ePrint from deleted printer to new printer
I have account on HP ePrintCenter and 2 printers - 2 x HP Deskjet 3070 All-In-One Printer - B611a.
One of HP Deskjet 3070 has crash and was move to recycling center.
I deleted this printer on my account and lost my email ePrint address - login "frankowskiego".
A few days ago I bought a new printer - HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw, and register on my account.
Unfortunately login "frankowskiego" is no longer available
My ask is:
Login "frankowskiego" is registered for ever to deleted printer HP Deskjet 3070 or somebody registered this name when I deleted printer?
If "for ever", can I or somebody from HP support, migrate this login to my new printer?

Any used ePrint address cannot be used for 6 months period due to security reasons, during that period the address cannot be used on any device as the original devic, if that has been reset or on any other device.
Once the 180 days period overs, the address becomes free for the usage of the first one who select that address.
Only once that period will over you will be able to reselect the previous address.

Moving address book from PC outlook express to Mac address book
What software or other magic do I need to get the address book with the group lists out of Outlook Express PC and into Mac's Address Book?
Tried Thunderbird -- that didn't separate the groups of lists nor did it bring over all the information.

Temporarily moving RDSH Host from Farm

I have four 2008 r2 rdsh hosts in a load balancing remote dektop farm. I need to install software on each of the servers and don't want users to be able to log in from the network while I am doing this(although I would still like to be able to log
in as users profiles to the RDSH server). Is there a way for me to temporarily remove an rdsh server from farm so I can do this?That approach probably won't work.
You'll want to backup the original site, change the URL so it's free for re-use, then restore the site collection into the new Web Application with the relevant URL. Most of those steps are described here:

The same thing happened to me. You have to call Apple Care and have them manually enter a new request.

IPhones not taking ipv4 addresses on Unified Wireless (WLC 5508 and AP 3602)
This is a really odd one...
Earlier this week we started having issues with our BYOD wireless network (802.1x, WPA2+AES) but only with Apple devices (iphone and ipad). Employees with Android or Windows phones are not having any problems at all.
A brief summary of what's observable for the issue:
Radius authentication succeeds (PASS observable in ACS logs)
IPhone status viewed on both controllers (foreign anchor in DMZ as well as corporate WLC) shows phone associated.
Debug client output shows an IPv4 address is actually being assigned to the phone however it appears to ignore it and restart the DHCP request process so debug output shows what looks to be a loop of DHCP request and offer stages.
Infrastructure notes
Cisco WLC 5508s are all running 7.4.121.0 (tried rolling back to 7.2.110.0 .....didn't help)
APs are all 3602I-N-K9
DHCP for the BYOD network is running on the anchor in the DMZ however this was temporarily moved to a switch (had no effect).
Any ideas?

When I try to open my Address Book from Finder, it says :You can't use this version with this version of Mac OS x. I have Address Book 5.0.3 and Mac OS X 10.7.5 What should I do to get my Address Book back???
Unless you deleted Address Book 6, or restored from a backup made before you upgraded to Lion, Address Book 6 should be on your disk somewhere. Try to find it with spotlight or by browsing likely folders with Finder. Also check Trash. If you find other Address Books, using Quick View or Get Info in Finder should show the version number.
Have you ever moved Address Book out of the Applications folder, either before or after you upgraded to Lion?
If you can't figure out how this happened in the first place, I would be worried that other OS X utilities are similarly affected. -
Address Book: Pop-up menus attached to field labels
Some of these are grayed out when it doesn't make sense to me to do so. For example, with the Instant Messaging field label, I find iChat always grayed out, whereas it would appear to represent an opportunity to launch iChat while in Address Book. Ditto with the Email field label; while I can launch Mail, I can't open iChat, open my iDisk, or Send Update.
Any clues as to why these choices are grayed out when it appears they should be usable?I finally worked out what the problem was: I had moved Address Book to a self-made sub-folder of my Apps folder, meaning that I was in fact running an older Panther version and not the newly-installed Tiger one. Only when I saw 2 icons in the dock did I realise what I'd done.
Note to self - leave the OS installed Apps in the main folder in future...
