"Temporarily Unavailable" store - is Apple deleting the threads on this?!

Very interesting - after a week of not being able to download the TV episodes I've subscribed to, and getting no helpful response from Apple 'support' ...
... today I posted a comment about it on every thread written by people who haven't been able to download music & videos since early September because of the iTunes store being "temporarily unavailable".
I just went back to check those threads ... and cannot find any of them.
I've looked through all the ones that were updated today, and none are there.
Is Apple actually deleting those threads to make the problem appear not so widespread and long-lasting?

I have been having this issue for three weeks now. I just received a reply that the problem was fixed. I tried signing out, quitting iTunes, restarting my Mac, and logging back in just to find that the problem has not been fixed. I've got got pending downloads of "The Best Years", "Eureka", "Who wants to be a Super Hero", "NFL Gameday", and a Lifetime Movie. It doesn't seem to matter what kind of show I have, I can't download any of them when I "Check for Purchases". Funny thing is, I have no problem buying music or T.V. shows with my shopping cart. They download just fine.

I have some money from a card still on my account that I would like to use.

This has been an issue with some users for close to 24 hours now. I've been getting the error for the last 5 or so hours myself.
Having problems is understandable, it happens. and if this is related to the iCloud hack reported yesterday it is good to know Apple is trying to fix the issue.
But it sure would be nice if there was an official statement from Apple concerning this.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

Who is deleting the threads here? Is Apple doing it or are the blue-dot people?

To continue on this - you can identify the Hosts of the forum by the little purple Apple logos under their name when they post. They rarely do post, though.
Other Apple employees will have silver apples under their name. While these people do work for Apple, they do not moderate the forums.

my iphone coudnt be activated because it say's that the activation server is temporarily unavailable???how can i resolve this??

99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, either get a sim card from the carrier your phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.

  • Why Apple deleted the new iPad (refer A1416 )  supposedly  "the  iPad 3" that Many people we bought before june last year Of their web site

Why Apple deleted the new iPad (refer A1416 )  supposedly  "the  iPad 3" that Many people we bought before june last year Of their web site. I say this because the Apple store sold me the new Apple in this moment, but really two months after arrive other model with better things, retina, HD, etc

There is no "unfair trade" in releasing the next version soon after the last version. No "unfair trade" in releasing the new version the day after the last version. No one made any statement or guarantee that a new version would be a year away. Yes, most people who bought the "iPad 3" expected it would be a year before another release and, yes, some (or many) were not happy about the iPad 4 coming out so soon. There may have been some trust or love lost beween those consumers and Apple but there is nothing illegal or improper about it.

The warranty is only valid in the country where you bought the phone. To get it serviced by Apple, you'll have to bring it back personally, Apple does not ship internationally.
If you can't bring it back to Apple in Canada, your only other chance is to search for a 3rd party repair shop. An Authorized Apple Service Provider in your country will not service the phone, sorry.

  • How to resolve error message "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone. Delete the backup for this iPhone, then try again."

I inadvertently deleted my iPhone backup on my MacBook Pro. I restored iPhone to factory settings and then synced remotely with iCloud. However the error message repeatedly states:
iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone. Delete the backup for this iPhone, then try again.
Any ideas as to how this can be resolved please. Thank you very much.

My wife's iPhone 5 would not backup, after upgrading to iOS 8.     The "genius" at the Apple store succeeded in DELETING, the only recent backup of her phone so
    recovery became more critical.
I followed all the procedures for troubleshooting it, but still it would try to backup and then stop due to an error. We particularly wanted to preserve some game data/history/progress that she'd been working on for years.      This game (Dream Fish) would no longer open after the iOS 8 upgrade ... and the phone would not successfully backup, and so we had no confidence that it would restore from an older backup either.       I googled for solution and found Phoneview and iFunBox.      These apps allow you to see & access data files in the iPhone.      Phoneview was too fragile and crashed when copying a file any size.
I found "iFunBox".     iFunBox was excellent.      I used iFunBox to recover her game data.    It allows you to make a copy of data files that reside on the iPhone... and store them as a manual backup on the Mac.
And in the process I found 2 games that caused iFunBox to crash.      The 2 games in question were not important enough to try to keep, so I deleted them from the iPhone.
So then, I had a manual backup of the important iPhone data, and had eliminated two game files that apparently had a conflict with iOS 8.
My next Backup attempt was successful.        The iPhone with iOS 8 would now backup to both the Mac and to the Cloud.
Next I deleted Dream Fish from the iPhone and downloaded a fresh version from the Cloud.    The new Dream Fish with no history opened in iOS 8.
Then I used iFunBox to copy my wife's Dream Fish data history from the Mac back into the new game.
Once the transfer was complete, Dream Fish would now OPEN and all of her progress was there and working like normal.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1766 Error message: "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone.  Delete the backup for this iPhone, then try again." But how do I delete the backup?

Error message when attempting to backup up iPhone4S to Mac says "iTunes could not back up the iphone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone.  Delete the backup for this iPhone, then try again." But how do I delete the backup? Can't find answer to that anywhere.

We had this problem after upgrading to iOS 8.       The iPhone 5 would not backup either to the cloud or to the computer.   Backup always ended with an error message.
Long story short, with the help of iFunBox ( which I used to make manual backups of some important iPhone data files ), I discovered two games that
would crash iFunBox.      They were not important games for us, so I didn't try to isolate the offending data files.     And I deleted the two games from the iPhone.
Apparently these two games conflicted with iOS 8 just as they did with iFunBox.      The next backup without those games was then successful.
I backed up to both the Mac and the cloud.
    Hope this helps.

  • I just got my refurb iPad in the mail. I am trying to set it up, but im getting this message "iTunes could not back up the ipad because the backup was corrupt or not compatable with the ipad. Delete the backup for this ipad. then try again." How?

I just got my refurb iPad in the mail. I am trying to set it up, but i am getting this error message " iTunes could not back up the ipad because the backup was corrupt or not compatable with the ipad. Delete the backup for this ipad. Then try agian." How do I do that?

It sounds like the iPad wasn't erased to me. If the iPad is totally cleared of content, there should be nothing on it and no backup to create.
Without connecting the iPad to your computer - Launch iTunes on you computer and go to Edit>Prefences>Devices. Do you see an iPad backup in there? If you do see it, delete it.

I work for company and we use HTC phones about a hundred  .. We are thinking of changing to iPhone...  We use destiny pens and have been advised that apple blocks the Bluetooth for this device... Why...?

Apple doesn't "block" that device. They just don't support the Bluetooth profiles the Destiny pen requires. You can see the Bluetooth profiles included in iOS here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647
and the profiles required for the pen here:
    http://www.destinywireless.com/flash/#/thedigitalpen/compatibility/bluetooth_com patibilty/
Perhaps another pen such as the A4 Smart Pen would work for you in place of the Destiny device:

Because it is more far-reaching than just turning the phone off and back on, it completely takes out anything in volatile memory, etc. I do reset mine if I notice problems such as no email coming in, text message issues, etc. but the same thing could probably be accomplished by just turning the phone off and on in your case.
Thanks deggie, I think I get it now. Volatile memory (I had to look it up!) is memory that is lost on loss of power, so it's as you say... I'm not achieving anything on a normally functioning iPhone as on-off achieves the same result!... Thanks
