Temporary Internet Files

I am new to this forum and new to MAC. I have a used PowerBook G4, with MAC OS 10.4.7. My issue is this, the other day I got a notice that I only had a minimal amount of Memory left, even though I have not downloaded anything and I do not create documents that take up a large capacity of space. My roommate who sold me the MAC said something about deleting Temporary Internet Files, I know how to do this on a PC with Explorer, but this computer doesn't have Explorer. I don't know what the deal is. I deleted a large bit of info, mainly all my iTunes to get back up to more than 2GB, well in just two days of only being on the internet and nothing else, I am down to 1.5GB. Where is my memory going and how do I get it back? Can anyone help me. I would really appreciate it. If you could send me your responses to my email address~ [email protected] Thank you for all the help you can provide!

  • How can I get Full PDF file in temporary Internet Files folder when a PDF is opened in IE?

when a URL displaying a PDF file(http://www.google.com/Test.pdf) in internet explorer is done, the PDF file is opened in Microsoft internet explorer itself. But I observe one thing. i.e., If the PDF file is created with acrobat distiller the the PDF file opened on IE is fully obtained in Temporary Internet files, and if the PDF file is created with other than acrobat distiller(i.e., created using other PDF tools), then if the same file, then only a part of PDF(10KB-50KB) is obtained in Temporary internet files folder, and remaining is obtained by Acrxxxx.tmp in C:\Documents and Settings\Current UserName\Local Settings\temp folder. why this is happening?
consider the total size of file as 1.5MB.
In my PC, I had Adobe reader 8.1 and IE6.

Yes, I was seeing the difference between PDFs that are linearized. I had unchecked that option, still I can't get the Full PDF in temporary Internet files folder.
Are there any more settings to be changed.
Why only for some files this is happening, What was the difference b/w the files which are fully obtained in temporary internet files folder and that are of not fully obtained.

  • How can we change the default folder location (avoiding problems with Temporary Internet Files)

(Environment in question: Windows 7 secure desktop (running as user not admin), Office 2010)
    Hello,
As has been touched on in various forums (such as here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/797451), when one opens a PDF attachment in Outlook, Acrobat and Reader store the file in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder (f/k/a OLK folder in previous versions of Outlook.  There are two major problems with this:
First, as Microsoft has documented in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817878, attachments end up here staying here under certain conditions (go checks your now, you'll find some!), which ends up being a file attachment no man's land, and that can present security risks (e.g. if data we thought was deleted still lives in that folder).
Secondly, the first time you open an attachment in Acrobat and do a Save As, Acrobat is defaulting to the Temporary Internet Files location.  This folder (as noted in the thread linked above) is ridiculously hard to get to for the average user, so they can end up storing a file and then losing it.
We've found that if we open Acrobat once, do a save as, and change to the users Documents folder, the change sticks.  But how can we have Acrobat default to Documents instead of that temporary location?
      Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you check to see if Acrobat sets a registry entry or file preference for the first Save As?  That's where I would start looking.  Process Monitor is a good tool for this.

I am creating an air application that has to work in offline too.so i have decided to retrieve datas it from temporary internet files(is it a rightway or anyother way to do that if so pls suggest).   I have an issues of retreiving images and xml stored in the temporary internet files of the user system ..can anybody help me and give solution for this..
    regards,

What software are you using to create the website? Perhaps there is some command you can implement on the website to force the entire file to be downloaded. If you use Dreamweaver, you might ask in that forum. If you make the link an ftp link rather than a http link, you might guarantee that the file will be downloaded in its entirety, but the download location will not necessarily be in a temp folder.

  • When creating PDF I get message "This file was saved to the Temporary Internet  Files Folder"

about 80% of the time when I am creating a PDF Document using the Print to Adobe function I get the following message:
"For your computers security, this file was saved to the Temporary Internet Files folder"
"Do you want to open this folder?"
It doesn't matter if I say yes I want to open the folder or not I can never locate the file.
I am using Vista Ultimate 32. for an operating system.
I have the following programs installed too:
    Office 2007 Enterprise
    Office 2007 Project Professional
    Office Visio Professional 2007
As a antivirus I am using Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2008
    Diskeeper 2008 Pro
    Nero 8
    Quicken Home and Business 2008
    WinRar
I am using Microsoft Internet explorer V 7.0.6001.18000
Thank you for your help. I have looked everywhere and I'm lost.

You can get the same results (as turning protected mode off) by:
(presuming you have an icon for Internet Explorer on your desktop or taskbar) -- right click the icon and pick "Run as administrator"
I've got the same problem printing to pdf (Acrobat v8; problem's only in IE7) on a Dell Optiplex/Vista Business desktop machine (though not my T61/Vista Ultimate Thinkpad laptop) and the above resolves the issue for my desktop machine. Certainly not a fix but perhaps a clue to Adobe developers, on the [slim?] chance they read these posts.

  • IE 11 Temporary Internet Files Settings

    Hello!
I want to set IE settings for everyone in my company to the desired goal.
    This is the desired goal.
    Open IE.
Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Settings.
I want under Temporary Internet Files:
Check for newer version of stored pages to be Every time I visit the webpage
    and
Disk Space to use to be 8mb
Initially I tried to set this using a GPO but I have not found anything to do this
for IE 11 in my research.
I figured instead I could also have a simple script run on all the computers every day to set the settings.
I found I can run this for the 'Check for newer versions of stored pages' setting and it does the trick:
    Just changing SyncMode5 to 3
    reg add "HKCU\software\microsoft\Windows\CurrrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0" /v SyncMode5 /t REG_DWORD /d 00000003 /f
I then try to do something similar for the 'Disk space to use'
    reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content" /v CacheLimit /t REG_DWORD /d 8192 /f
This changes the appropriate Registry Key if I look at the Registry editor, but then I pull up Internet Options -> settings and see that the "disk space to use" has not changed.
If I then Manually change this to a different amount of MB I can go to the registry editor and see the same registry key:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\Cache\Content\CacheLimit has changed.
I figure there must be another key to be changed. A lot of places online say to change the
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Cache\Content\CacheLimit
but that didn't even exist. I tried to make it, and set the appropriate registry key, and that did not work either.
    or
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Cache\ContentLimit
and that worked the same way -- manual changes from IE options show here, but when I change in regEdit it doesn't get changed in IE.
Any advise on how to manage the companies settings, or how to set the Registry Key would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Temporary internet files and track pad

    hi there.
I purchases my macbook on black friday. I love it. I used one about 14 yrs ago..and some things have changed. it is much easier to navigate.
I have a few questions. I will try to put them in the correct forums.
    temp internet files
    1. does make have temporary internet files and cookies like PCs do. DO you need to delete them like you need to on a PC? If so, how is this done?
    trackpad
    2. on my tablet, I could tap on my trackpad to where i want my cursor to be. When I am using my mac, I have to click on the left click . Is there any way to do this by tapping on the track pad?
    thanks for your help

Should it go gray after you first empty the caches as you just emptied it and there should be nothing left to empty?
No. It'll remain selectable (in black) regardless of the state of the cache.
Also is there a folder that contains the files, so that you can physically view if there are any that have not been delieted.
    Yes there is…
    ~/Library/Caches/Safari
… where ~ means your home directory.

I have been trying various fixes to download this for 2 days now.  Can someone please help me?
    Thanks!

Did you check if the Firefox file is in that location?
If it isn't there then do a clean (re)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
If the file is there then do a malware check with some malware scan programs.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.<br />

  • How to clear the cache files in folder Temporary Internet Files

When one user opens files such as pdf. or doc. from Portal,  the same file will be downloaded into the Temporary Internet Files folder. if another user copied the files out of the Temporary Internet Files folder from this computer and save to someplace else, then we face one security problem.
So my question is: How to clear the cache files in folder Temporary Internet Files??  Can we delete the files automatically when close the files in Portal??
or is there some ways to make encrypty???
    Thanks very much!

    Hello,
this is a basical security problem which should be resolved by the OS standard security setup . No other user should have access to the temporary file folders in the personal directory. The user account must be secure. Normaly your security problem should not be a problem if basic security exists on the clients.
You can resolve this problem if every user has his own account on the client
The users having no administration permissions on the clients
The folder for the temporary internet files is placed in the personal profile folder of the user account.
On default no other user has access rights to you personal folder, this means the client OS is setup correctly.
You can setup the IE that no temporary files are saved (but it reduces performance)
You can enable IE to delete automaticly the temporary files if IE is closed.
    Hope it helps.
    Regards
    Alex

  • How do I retrieve temporary internet files?

I am having a problem finding and retrieving the temporary internet files that are stored. I went to about:cache and found the file I need, but when I click on it, it isn't retrieved. Rather, it opens what looks like the hex source for the file. How can I retrieve the file?

You can look at this extension for easier access to files in the cache.
