Temporay file is not flushed out

Dear all,
I have created a temporary tablespace of 11GB. Even if I restart the database the bytes_free shows 0 in v$temp_space_header.Its a tempfile,not datafile, because it is shown in v$tempfile view.
What may be the possible reason?
Is there any way to flush the temp file manually?
Oracle version 10g version2
Platform Solaris 4

What command are you using that shows '0 bytes free'? Why do you want to 'flush the temp file'?
I would think that you WANT to have the temp tablespace mainly formatted and allocated for the various segment types - sort area segment, etc. If it's not allocated, you will spend extra time formatting the blocks to the required purpose.
In temp tablespace terms, I believe the issue is not usually 'free space to create new segments', but rather 'free sort segment' space.
Or, the way I tend to think about it ... the tablespace contains a 'sort area' table. WHat is import is "How much of the sort area table is free", not "How many blocks are free in the tablespace to extend the sort area table".

As always - The above is the way I look at it right now. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • PDF file will not print out Special Characters

    I am currently a technician for a college and, and the customer that I am attending currently has the following Problem:
    I am using Adobe PRO 9 to convert my Word files to pdfs for [a New York Printing Company].... The Greek letters used in Word are seen in Word, are seen in PDF, but do not come out in ...[the New York Printing Companies'] printing.
    What could be the stubling block for the NY printing company to not be able to print out the Special Characters in the PDF files? I clearly cannot go to the company myself and tell them to change their printer settings or something like that.

    Thank you, I have checked the font and I see all the fonts I need already installed. I am not sure if this will solve the problem, and there is a chance that the Adobe Acrobat settings on my customers PC need to be adjusted like you said.
    At least I can start looking somewhere .

  • Integration Broker not flushing out result to any connector

    Hi,
    Using PeopleTools 8.44. I'm trying to have Peoplesoft create or send an output file that it generates from a trigger. I'm using the Location changes as an example. Anytime I make a correction to a Location (LOCATION_SYNC) and save it, I see the appropriate XML message generated with no errors via the Monitor Message. I created external outasync nodes for FILE ,FTP and HTTP connectors. Create transactions to link to LOCATION_SYNC and it's corresponding message (VERSION_1). Seems like everything works, from PT_LOCAL as the pub node until it reaches the external node. For the file output node, I do not see any file generated in the directory configured. For the Ftp output node, I do not see any file ftp'd to the ftp server. For the Http node, I don't see any POST invoked on the server side. I've run the "ping node" test for each of the nodes and they all came back successful. I don't see any errors in the PS log. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I think I'm missing a configuration step-- something in the realm of "now flush the generated XML message to File/Ftp/Http"-- but don't know where that would be if it even exists. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

  • How to create a 2 digit (gigabyte) file system to be used for 3 digit tiny size files and not running out of inodes

    I have a 83Gb file system that apparently is not full, but its actually full, because I have run out of inodes, and I have 10 million files in there, so I want to create another that will cater for this inode issue. My question is if I use the
    newfs -T
    option will it work? As its only going to be 90Gb?

    You use probably a UFS file system, right ? Then in this case, use the "-i" option with a value less as 8192. 8192 is the default value for a UFS filesystem that is between 3GB and 1 TB size.
    But if you want to store 10M of files, UFS will be limited to 1M per TB : 64-bit: Support of MultiterabyteUFS File Systems (System Administration Guide: Devices and File Systems)
    In this case, use instead UFS a ZFS filesystem that supports 2^48 entries !!!

  • File will not delete out of TRASH

    I have a file in trash that would not delete because it is locked according to the error message. so I placed it back where it was. There is still a copy in trash and it will not disappear. The file is an EXE file but I do not use it anywhere. Any one know how to get it out of my TRASh even if it is not deleted? I just want it out
    TXJACK

    Hi TXJACK,
    You may want to try emptying the trash using Terminal:
    1. Open Terminal (in Applications, Utilities).
    2. Copy and paste the following command into the Terminal window (or type it exactly as follows):
    sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash/*
    3. Press Return.
    4. Type in your password when asked (note: you will not see anything being entered as you type your password).
    5. Hit Return.
    6. Wait until the process finishes/the Terminal prompt returns.
    7. Quit Terminal.

  • Scanned documents do not print out correctly on forms.

    I scanned a pdf file to my computer.  I opened the pdf file on my computer using Adobe Reader.  I printed the file using my printer.  The pdf file did not print out correctly.  The printed text was out of alignment with the form I was printing on.  The printer/scanner manufacturer troubleshot the problem and determined it is not a hardware issue, but an Adobe Reader software issue.  Please help.  Thank you.

    Yes, the scanned PDF size is the same as the paper size in my printer.  Everything worked fine for the past year.  The only thing I had changed was I purchased a new wireless HP printer/scanner.  Before, I was using an USB cable.  While troubleshooting my issues, I have somehow caused Adobe Reader X to quit working.  I cannot open any PDF files.  I get a message about system configuration is not compatiable.

  • Video clips in comps are not rendering out of render cue?

    First time poster here... new to the forum.
    I previous successfully created a show title sequence using a template where I chose to right click on the image placeholder and choosing set proxy file to the new video that replaces the template image.
    All is well when previewing, video files play embedded in the comps, and look great but when I go to render out the .mov file the video disappears from the file leaving only the text and effects.
    I figured out a solution about 6 weeks ago that enabled me to complete the first title sequence but am having trouble again and cannot recall exactly how to repeat the solution.
    Any thoughts?

    I am replying to my own post... different user name because I could not get into my other account.
    Two solutions:
    1. I found an old text I sent to a friend where I found the previous solution.  In the render settings the default box is checked "use no proxies" so that is why the video files were not rendering out. Uncheck that box and you're good.
    2. Open the comp in Adobe Media encoder and render it out there... preview window shows proxies being embeded in preview window!
    Hope this helps someone new to After Effects from banging their head against the wall in the future.
    Cheers,
    Bronson

    I have purchased Adobe XI Pro and created a form for entering bowling scores to submit to newspaper for my high school team.  I can not figure out how to get pdf's into my documents folder on my iPad so that I can access the files in bowling alleys where I do not have a Wi-Fi connections.  I need to be able access files without going to acrobat.com.  Help!!!@

    Post the PDF files to a web site. The browse to them in Safari on the iPad.  When you Open the files specify the Open to occur in Adobe Reader.  Then you can have/Save them in your Documents folder on the iPad.   An iPad has limited access to files otherwise.

  • PDF files that do not print out on paper but are OK on screen

    Print PDF files when produced in ADOBE XI from  Excel 2010 worksheets
    The PDF files appear ok on the screen but do not print out all of the text on paper.
    Formating is recognised and printed oK but not text.
    Font segoe UI size 9 point - colours used default, blue and brown.  What little that is printed shows all colours OK but not all body of text
    This problem has been reported to me from dozens of my Clients and I have the same problem when printing hardcopy.
    Can anybody help ?

    I tried a font change on an abstracted part of the original file.  I selected Ariel - the majority of the page printed - headers and footers partialy printed.  But it is a step forward thank you.
    My choice of Font Segoe UI (True type) font as a default was after reading an article which stated that Segoe and another font, were fast becoming a "Microsoft computer standard font".
    A further question falls out of my problem is why is there no problem when a client of mine converted the original Excel Workbook with Adobe 9 and had no such problem ?.
    I do not have ADOBE 9 and cannot test it myself - but why should it work with an older version of ADOBE ?

  • System.out will not flush before input

    Hello everyone,
    I am using Netbeans 5.5, JDK6, and J2EE. I am new to the environment so I wrote a test application that would prompt a user to enter a string and then echo it. I have:
    String str = "";
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new nputStreamReader(System.in));
    System.out.print("Enter a string: ");
    System.out.flush();
    try
    str = br.readLine();
    catch(IOException ex)
    System.out.print(ex.toString());
    System.out.print(str);
    What is really bizarre is that System.out will NOT flush no matter what. My application will always ask for input before it even prompts the user for the string. This is what the output looks like when running:
    init:
    deps-jar:
    compile:
    run:
    hello
    Enter an string: hello
    BUILD SUCCESSFUL (total time: 5 seconds)
    Notice how I had to enter the string first? The only way that I have seen that it flushes is if I used println() instead of print. But what if I don't want the prompt to have an end line in it. This just seems like weird behavior. Also, I have tried using a Scanner for input and the results are the same. Not really sure what to do. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

    are you running this inside netbeans as well? the "console" view in netbeans (and eclipse, and probably other IDEs) is not a real console, it's a GUI component that the IDE writes to. it's behaviour isn't guaranteed to act like a real console. I've seen this sort of thing on eclipse before, but never used netbeans. but it still stands that an IDE's console view isn't an actual console/terminal window. that may well be the root of the problem
