Temps Still High

Hello again,
The problem is that i feel my system is still running hotter that it should.  My room temp is always around 20-22 c  and my case has the following cooling
2 x  80mm front botton intake fans,
2 x 80mm side intake fans,
2 x 80mm rear back outlet fans,
1 x 80mm top outlet fan,
1 x 120mm fan blowing the trapped air supplied by the 2 front bottom intake fans through the HDD housings.
Graphics card has a Outside Thermal Exhaust System so all the hot air from that goes straight out the rear.
The power supply has a uplift fan above the CPU.
CPU fan details in sig.
NB cooled by a copper HSF with  silver paste between.
AS5 Ceramic used for CPU (follows AS instructions)
Rimsinks on SB also.
Rounded cable for all HDD, CDD & FDD.
All other cable tidy and out the way.
Every thing is running stable at stock speeds.
Look at my sig for details of system.
With this much air i would have thought for better results than @ idle CPU is 47-49 Deg C and NB is around 40 Deg C. (at load only about a 5 Deg C increase)
You advice would be greatfully recevied,
worf105

Thanks Toenne for the quick reply,
That has put my mide at rest.  Would you expect there to be only a small temp increase if i were to run a 200 FSB with only a small Vcore (if required to be stable).
Thanks again,
worf105

  • Temp still high after all this

Well after my volcano 9 and artic silver 3 came in I installed them.  And the temps still are the same 69c idle and up to 85 under load.
My system is stable though, no bsod or anything at all.

both are running xp home ed, with sp-1
I took the 1800 out and put it in my msi board and get the same temps as above, then out and put it back in the k7s5a, and get the temps above.
Something has to be wrong with this k7n2 board.
But like I said never had a crash or and problems at all.
I just figured that getting the new fan and artic silver would help alittle bit on the temps, but i guess i was wrong.

  • Mobo temp too high?

hi all just recently built my first pc
    my specs:
    p4 2.26g(533mhz)
    msi 875p ne0-fis2r
    ddr sdram pc27000 (1gig)
    msi geforce fx 5900 128mb
    sound blaster audigy2
    psu 300w
my problem is this my cpu temp is 39c, my system temp is 31c but my motherboard temp is showing 54c isnt that too high? i have 2 fans at the rear of the atx case and 2 at the front so why is my mobo temp so high is it a psu problem i know my video card requirements are 350w but will it cause the mobo temp to be so high? any suggestions would be appreciated.  ?(

Take a deep breath. Relax. These temperatures are normal. If you browse through other threads with similar titles you will see the normal ranges and explanations on false NB temp readings.

  • B3 bios reports cpu temp 10c higher than b5 bios on k7n2 plat

    Dear list,
b3 bios reports cpu temp 10c higher than b5 bios on k7n2 plat after reading posts that b3 is more stable changed back to that so far so good, seems more stable its just that cpu temp was 45-50 c on b5 bios but on b3 in the bios is says 60 c and in core center it now says 40c but was 70c before I re booted very odd indeed, its stable but soemtimes doesn't shutdown have to turn off but thats probely a widnows probelm somewhere.
    cheers

ps do I need to clear cmos when I have put new bios in or will it doit as part of the process ??

    dear os navi,
    yep
    http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/volcano/rs/a1889.htm
I got this one with a heat duct on it. yes its all seated well and clean, just downloaded a corecenter update, cleared the cmos and started again. I am now getting 44 c for the temp now. What the bios says I dont know, could be that I hadnt cleared the bios that the temp was reading wrong.
    cheers

  • Why are my temps so high?!?!?!

    I just built my comptuer
    3200+ A64 Clawhammer CG
I am in the BIOS and my  System Temp is 48 and CPU temp 59.
The ratio seems correct.  I expected the CPU temp to be about 10 degree over the System temp since i am only using a Panaflo L on my SLK948U.
But why is the overall temp so high?  THis has to be an error.
BTW i am measuring these temps with my side panel off and my room temp is very cool.
    Help!

do you have the link to that thread by any chance?
so all Clawhammer CG gets weird temps?
but i am wondering why my case temps are so high.
Negative. I have a Clawhammer CG and my temps seem to be reported correct. 35 idle. The case (or NB) temp is normal at around 50. You'll see some threads where people are adding fans to cool it down.
do u have it the other way around
dont you mean 35 case temps and 50 cpu temps

  • Temp too high?

    Yo guys
Two things I wanted to ask really. Firstly I have recently purchased a Coolmaster Heat Pipe Heatsink / Fan as my old hs + fan wasnt cooling my XP 1800 properly (I was getting system crashes running @ 1.53 Ghz). The system is fine now but I am still not sure if my CPU temp is low enough. The machine boots into Windows at abt 45 degrees then reaches around 50 in idle state. This obviously increases in games but it's not high enough to crash the system. This heatsink and fan was twice the cost of my old one and yet apart from the 10 degrees or so difference at heavy loads I still don't think the temp is low enough. Can anyone tell me the average temperatures that these chips shld reach?
Secondly, strangely enough, ever since installing this new heatsink and fan my machine won't restart properly. If i choose restart in Windows then the PC just hangs at a black screen. I have to forcefully turn the PC off and back on again :-\ Weird! Anyone got any suggestions.
Thanks in advance guys - hope to get some advice soon.

There is a tweak you can use, I found this posted by Drakester on the AMDMB Forum  and gives details of how to cool your cpu by sending a halt instruction when it is idle. The effect this has is to lower its power consumption and therefore reduce the temperature.
I have tried it, and now see cpu temperatures of between 28c to 31c idle and upto 46c loaded, as opposed to 41c idle and 55c loaded before I tried it.
You can go straight to the Via article written by the aforementioned Drakester on WPCREDIT Cooling Solution.
Also if you don't already have them, put an intake fan at the front and an outlet fan at the back of your case, as this will improve airflow to help with cooling.

  • NB temps way high

Hey guys...my system specs are listed below, nothing has changed as of yet...however, when i replaced my cpu fan, i inadvertantly removed the northbridge fan, and then (stupid me) simply placed it back on without fixing the thermal goop..ever since then, i noticed that my NB temps were running really high (idle at 49c-50c). The highest it gets under load is about 52c, and thats rare...so, i figured it was my lack of goop that was causing it, so i took the sink off, cleaned it up nice, cleanedthe northbridge chip, and then applied Arctic Silver 5 and put the heatsink back on...yet, my NB temps are still running at about the same temperature...is this normal? or is it something to do with the new bios? Please help! Thanks!

Without a sensor it can only be accurate by random luck.

  • Are my GPU's IDLE temps to high?

Two months ago I bought a MSI R7950 TF 3GD5/OC BE.
When I got I found that that my fan can be pretty loud.
So I made a curve with MSI afterburner that would make my card pretty quite.
But I am not 100% sure my temps are acceptable.
My GPU temp is while being idle (Just browsing the web and stuff) 55 degrees Celsius.
My fan is running 38%, with a RPM of around 1350.
Are these acceptable temps, or do I need to change something here?

it may be a problem with the TIM (thermal Interface Material) on the card between the cooler and GPU!
i would suggest you remover the cooler and clean up the GPU and use a small amount of MX2 or MX4 thermal compound on the GPU as replacement and see if its temp goes down!
55C under nearly 0% load to me is far too high so i suspect its got a bad application of TIM (probably too much) and its acting as a heat Insulator not a heat transfare aid!
    >>REMOVING THE COOLER AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT DAMAGE ANYTHING WHILE DOING SO WILL NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY IN ANY WAY<<

  • Z97 gaming 5 + i5 4670K - temp seems high.

just a little tweak, to test...
set the multiplier to 38 and left everything else auto.
    prime95 - hit 83 degrees after 3 minutes.
using the Enermax ETS-T40 - which test results show typically is 68 ish on a i7 4.2 under load.
so, do I need to mess with the volts (i dont remember if that can make a diff)? or do I need to re-do my thermal paste... maybe too much? its been a while so I would not be surprised.
idle temp (3.8) is 32 to 34 deg....
I dont need to hit 4.2 etc.. but would like to hit 4.0 and stay cool
    thanks!

Those temps are about 10C higher than the max that Intel publishes. (72C is the max)
Either you have a very bad CPU sample, a badly seated HSF (as already mentioned) and/or bad case ventilation.
Have you checked your CPU fan speeds during the Prime95 tests? Did they spin up to their max RPM?
fans speeds are fine - checked...
Must be the paste.. Im thinking I may have put too much on

Add to that: Don't tighten the screws in 1 step. do it in 2 to 3 steps a little tighter each time. Better chance to ensure pressure of cooler mounting surface is equal across surface of CPU.
yes... I knew this one but thank you!
will report back when I have some time to re-do it - good thing is that temps are fine playing games lol

  • Huge CPU temp fluctuation - high temp

I have K8N neo platinum (socket 754)  with latest bios with cool n' quiet on. I am currently using the stock Heatsink and fan. My temp reading for CPU changes drastically from idle to full load. According to speed fan (and core center) the temp idles out at 38 C but at high load it goes all the up to 66 C. I was think the temp change so big, I usually hear that idle and load temp are bewteen 5 C of each other. I tried touching the Heatsink after running it and load and it felt hot, but it didn't burn my finger.  Not sure if heatsink isn't cooling right or is it a temp reading error. The current BIOS supposedly gives accurate temp reading, so just might be problem with the heatsink. Any idea whats going on?

I guess you haven't read any posts here at all. Yes virginia there is a problem. False readings using the Newcastle and Higher core after a cold boot. The false readings go away after a warm boot.
You are also wrong about the 5C difference from idle to full load conditions. While it varies it can be as much as 25c difference if you are using Cool and Quiet. 15c is more in line for those folks not using C&Q.

  • IPhone 3G WiFi Dropping, Signal Stength Still High, Extreme and DHCP?

I've been having problems with my iPhone 3G WiFi (I had the same with my First Gen iPhone too), where it lost the ability to connect to the Internet, although the WiFi connection was still active and showing full signal.
A reset of the Extreme and a various combination of resetting network settings / forgetting network / renewing DHCP Lease etc on the iPhone normally gets it going again, but not something you want to do every 30 minutes !
My Extreme is connected to a NetGear DG824M ADSL Wireless router, that I used before I had the Extreme (bought for a longer range and the 'n' spec so quicker wi-fi moving files around in the house, to Apple TV etc).
The NetGear's Wi-Fi is off, and the Extreme is working in Bridge Mode. I can get Internet connectivity with all devices with either the NetGear DHCP option on or off. I've tried tying DHCP addresses to the respective Mac addresses.
I've read elsewhere that the Extreme should be serving DHCP for the rid the iPhone of this issue, but cannot set this up. I must admit to being a bit confused over the basics here.
My ADSL Connection is with BT, and therefore I believe PPPoA (?) which requires a username / password.
Any help in setting this up, and indeed if this could even be the issue with the iPhone dropping much appreciated. I've searched every forum posting here on on each Mac site for months without any joy !
    Thanks

If the problem appears to be isolated to only your AirPort Extreme, in other words it doesn't happen while connected to other Wi-Fi networks, a "hard reset" is justified:
To "hard reset" an AirPort Base Station: make sure it's powered up, then gently press and hold its tiny reset button. Don't apply any more force than required to feel a tactile click. Keep it depressed for five to ten seconds, long enough for its LED to flash amber rapidly. Release the reset button. Then, the LED will glow amber steadily for about a minute. Then, it will flash amber, slowly, about once every second or two, waiting for you to configure it with AirPort Utility.

  • Questions about system temps (way high, urgent)

I've just got my 865PE Neo2-FISER and was playing around with some settings.  I ran the CoreCenter just to try it out and it says my NorthBridge is running at 63c???
Is this just a invalid sensor, or is this really the case?  If it is, I'm going to go right in and see if the heatsink is even touching it.  Temps are as below:
    CPU: 43c
    CASE: 30c
    NB: 64c
All temps are at full load.
    Thanks ahead of time guys.

NB doesn't have thermal sensor. That value is fake. Get the latest CoreCenter. ok?

  • Are vector graphics still high res when you import into Premiere?

Someone in our company is producing a commercial and he asked me for our logo. I sent him a PDF of a logo I created in Illustrator, so it's completely vector.
He now says he needs a bigger logo that is high res. I thought vector was always high res and that you can scale it as much as you want and it won't matter.

He just asked me to scale it to fit 1280x720 aspect ratio. I have no idea what that translates to in inches or picas which is what I'm used to (sorry, my math skills are pathetic).
    Do you know?

  • Small file size, but still high quality?

Hello, I am filming weddings for clients but I am unable to export them with a small enough file size so that they are able to see it on their slower computer. And it is a pain when it doesn't even fit on a dvd. These videos are somewhere around 2 hours long. I would also like to have them still HD. The only way I have been slightly succesful is to upload them to youtube then download them off again. Is there a way to do this? I have already tried H.264.  Thank you for your time!

Use the Adobe Media Encoder and h.264. It's currently your best option for small file size and HQ playback. You should also use AME to encode for DVD. 2 hours will easily fit on a DVD. If you want HD then burn a BluRay. That format will also hold a nicely compressed 2 hr movie. It's done all the time. You just have to learn about encoding for distribution. The standard presets are very good.

  • MSI N560Ti Twin Frozr II OC Edition Temp to high

Hello svet, im from argentina too
    Ive a problem with a MSI N560 GTX - TI Twin Frozr II / OC edition (1024 M )
    Serial N:  602-v238-220b110905319
Like 4 months ago, one of the original fans from the cooler just broke up (stop working) so  i got a Deepcool 4600 in replace
    (this monster)
After installing in that moment the new cooler, temps went down like a champ (60ª full load temp)
A few days ago, i decided to recheck my temp again  only to see how are the things going, and i found something weird
The GPU Temp was rising till 100º c in full load.
That was something imposible becouse in that case , the  gpu will just stop working and the system will shutdown. So i decided to check the things , open up my V9 Black edition case, and check the thermal paste (artic silver 5) in the GPU. Nothing strange, i just reapply the tim and installed the vga again in place
Well , things went the same deal like before. Gpu hitting 100ª in like 8  - 9 seconds after opened a game, every time i just hit ALT TAB and drop to ws, the temp goes down to 35ª in like , i dunno, 3 seconds or less. Tab back in game, and after 5 - 6 seconds went up again
Just formated, installed clean drivers, same deal, but i managed to hit 80ª this time in cs:go (just to test) with vsync on tripple buffer , max settings and MAX_FPS 45
After a while (maybe less than a minute) temp hit again the 90º wall, and it was to late to keep testing.
Is it posible that a sensor is damaged? couse i didnt notice the heat that excesive inside the case, i mean i put my hand over the VGA (not touching, only hovering over) and the vga was hot but not at 100º def.
Is it posible for a card to cold that quickly? (from 100 to 30 in  5 seconds).
    Can my bios be faulty?

    btw this is the attachment
