Issue with disabling teredo with Windows Server 2008(non R2)
Hello,
I am not able to disable teredo on Windows Server 2008 (non R2) .When I try to run the same set of commands on Windows Server 2008 R2 it works fine.I have followed the instructions as in the below link
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770710(v=ws.10).aspx
C:\Windows\system32>netsh interface teredo show state
Teredo Parameters
Type : client
Server Name : teredo.ipv6.microsoft.com.
Client Refresh Interval : 30 seconds
Client Port : unspecified
State : offline
Error : client is in a managed network
C:\Windows\system32>netsh interface teredo set state disabled
Ok.
C:\Windows\system32>netsh interface teredo show state
Teredo Parameters
Type : client
Server Name : teredo.ipv6.microsoft.com.
Client Refresh Interval : 30 seconds
Client Port : unspecified
I have also tried changing the below registry to disable teredo , that didnot work as well.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\DisabledComponents DWORD value set to 8.But the teredo status for the netsh command remains the same even after reboot.
When I try to disable the 6to4 or isatap it works fine.I have checked in device manager ->network adapters with show hidden devices enabled, but I dont see teredo adapter even when teredo is enabled as per netsh. Also I dont see teredo adapter in add
legacy hardware- > network adapters - > Microsoft devices , but I see isatap and 6to4 adapters in there.
Can someone please help me..
Thanks in AdvanceHi,
In device manager, add legacy hardware, install Teredo adapter, update the drivers. Reboot and check if you can modify the status.
If this failed, reset tcp/ip stack.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
Hope this helps. -
I have gone through troubleshooting and says driver needs to be reinstalled. On the Adapter and Teredo I am getting an error code 10 cannot start. I have a disc for drivers and apps. Should I go in and uninstall them and then use the
legacy thing and then fix the problem with my disc? I have windows update to configure updates in drivers so what is going on?I have gone through troubleshooting and says driver needs to be reinstalled. On the Adapter and Teredo I am getting an error code 10 cannot start.
Hi,
Have you tried to enable IPV6 and then check if you can start Teredo?
Locate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\servic es\TCPIP6\Parameters
Check whether the "DisabledComponents" registry key exists. If so, please double click the "DisabledComponents"
registry key and modify the value to 0.

Issue with Teredo Tunneling Adapter
A lot of us are not very computer savvy, so when answering questions please try to remember that.
I am getting a error 10 on my screen telling me my teredo tunneling adapter is not tunneling and has a driver problem. I have tried to download the driver but cannot. I have read your answers but do not really understand what you are saying.
Do I need this adapter, what does it do?Hi,
Teredo tunneling is a technology that used to send IPV4 encapsulated IPV6 packets across the network. Teredo is a technology that gives full
IPv6 connectivity for IPv6-capable hosts which are on the
IPv4
Internet but which have no direct native connection to an IPv6 network. If we don't use IPv6, we may ignore this adapter.
More information, if needed, please see:

Can Teredo for Microsoft DirectAccess work in the DMZ of an ASA 5510?
I'd like to find some way to get Teredo to work with our DirectAccess implementation. To do that, the external facing NIC on the DirectAccess server needs to be configured with a routable public IP address.
We have an ASA 5510 (running 8.3 (2)) that has switches on the Internal and DMZ interfaces, but connects directly to our Internet router through the External interface.
So, I do not have a switch that will allow me to connect our DA server directly to the edge. Short of buying a new switch and putting it outside of the firewall, I wanted to see if there was a way to configure the ASA so that Teredo would work in the DMZ.
Our current DMZ has 2 barracuda devices (spam and web filters) using static NAT objects. The IPs are all 192.168.x.
Is there some way of getting the DirectAccess external interface to work in the DMZ with a public IP address (and our ISP's gateway) without mucking everything else up? I've read about transparency mode, but I cannot figure out if that would affect our other devices.
Thanks in advance!
-BradHi. I'm not 100% sure.......... But I think With UAG service pack 1 or 2 you no longer require a publicly routatable address for the external interface of the UAG server. You can now add the UAG server to your existing DMZ without affecting the addressing. Then you allow the Teredo tunneling traffic to the server.

Problem instaling fix for Microsoft teredo tunneling adapter
In Devices and Printers, the desktop icon shows an exclamation point. I ran troubleshooting and was informed that I need Microsoft teredo tunneling adapter. I have no idea what that is. The Troubleshooter tried to install it but was unsuccessful.
As far as I can tell, my computer operates OK, although I have had some issues with using Skype.
I read that the Zone Alarm firewall may interfere with the installation or operation of the teredo adapter. I no longer have Zone Alarm.1. You would do better to describe your system in a bit more detailed. What you are trying to achieve. The missing teredo is only a consequece of something that we, readers , do not know.
2. For Zone Alarm you are advice to place an question in Zone Alarm forum and/or support
http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/company/community.htm
I would try to do all you need in test environment with firewall disabled.
3. For new items in Windows 2008 R2, read the book that is available for free on MS download:

Automatic uninstallation of Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter
Hi,
I am attempting to uninstall the Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter by using a script, on a Windows 8 Enterprise x64 OS. The device is installed incorrectly by default:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful
and it is not useful at all in our organization.
I've tried so far to use devcon.exe and pnputil.exe, but it is impossible to perform the uninstallation.
However, if I perform the uninstallation manually from DevMgr (right-click on device and Uninstall), the Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter is removed successfully, without being reinstalled after reboot.
Can you please indicate how should I perform an automatic uninstallation of this device?
Many thanks,
CristianI've already tried to disable it using netsh, but it's still present in Device Manager as a ghost device (with exclamation mark). One of my goals is to have a "clean" computer, without ghost devices.
I forgot to mention that the Teredo tunnelling adapter ghost device appears only if disable IPV6 using:
reg.exe add hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\TCPIP6\parameters /v disabledcomponents /t reg_dword /d 0xffffffff /f
during the MDT deployment (after the WinPE step is completed we use an internally-developed sequencer to perform driver installation and country-dependent customizations).
However if I enter this registry value AFTER the first logon (using an administrative account) the Teredo ghost device does NOT appear anymore. I tried to attach the reg.exe command in the RunOnce section, but it needs an administrative account in order to
succeed.
Do you know what is the correct timing to set that registry value (actually to disable IPV6) during the MDT installation? The dilemma is:
- if the key is entered too early, then the Teredo ghost device appears
- if the key is entered too late (e.g. attached to RunOnce) then the user does not have permission to enter the reg. value.
Thanks -

When I run my housekeeping I always have code 10 faults on the Isatap Adapter and the Teredo Tunneling Adapter. I am not sure what these do and it dosen't appear to have any effect on my laptop. Can anyone explain what these adapters do.
Hi,
Please follow the steps listed in the below thread:

Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter and Microsoft 6to4 Adapter
Hi ,
as per best practice of Cluster Hyper-v All drives on all nodes should be the same version
But I found network drivers "Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter and Microsoft 6to4 Adapter" are installed one some nodes and not installed on other nodes
IP Ver 6 is enabled on all network drivers
So What should I do and How ? Install the drivers or uninstall it and how to do that ?
thanks in advance.
RamyHi Ramy,
"So What should I do and How ? Install the drivers or uninstall it and how to do that ?"
Teredo is an IPv6 transition technology that provides address assignment and host-to-host automatic tunneling for unicast IPv6 traffic when IPv6/IPv4 hosts are located behind one or multiple IPv4 network address translators (NATs).
You may keep the default setting .
If you want to create a hyper-v cluster , please refer to the step-by-step guide :
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732181(v=WS.10).aspx
"Before you create the cluster, we strongly recommend that you run a full validation test of your configuration. Validation helps you to confirm that the configuration of your servers, network, and storage meets a set of specific requirements for failover
clusters. You can validate either an existing cluster or one or more servers that are not yet clustered."
This step will help you to check cluster configuration .

Reload Teredo Tunneling Adapter on a Pavilion
Need to reload the driver for the Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter on a Pavilion g7-1338dx
This question was solved.
View Solution. You need to open up the device manager, then click the action tab at the top and click add legacy hardware. Then click next and next again - it will then scan and find nothing click next on the screen after that. Wait a minute and you will see a list of hardware appear, scroll down and choose network adapters then click next, then from the left column choose Microsoft then in the right hand column scroll down and choose Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter, then click next and this will install it. To check just make sure it is set to show hidden devices, right click on device manager on the right and click view then show hidden devices.

Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter cannot start (code 10)
Hi guys,
I have a yellow *!* mark on my Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter, and when I attempt to install it manually, it says it is already installed, but the driver cannot start (CODE 10). I'm also having an IP problems with my computer [Windows has detected
an IP address conflict], but I lack the knowledge and experience to know if this two problems are connected.
I've tried 2 device-updating programs (DriverTuner by LionSea, Driver Booster by IObit), yet neither of them ware able to help me .
If ANYONE out there have a solution for me, please submit it!
[Windows 7, HP]Hi Ziv_Ger,
Regarding IP conflicts, please first use the Network troubleshooter,
For more information, please refer to the following article.
Get help with "There is an IP address conflict" message
