Terminal.app doesn't show complex characters
Terminal only shows blanks instead of complex characters. This happens both for input as well as program output.

I do too have this problem. I did a clean install of Snow Leopard and noted something :
Just after the install, it worked perfectly well, caracter showed up in the terminal and everywhere. I just did a reboot (and nothing else) and after that, it's wrecked again !
No input or output in terminal and every others applications is fine. There is the same issue with another the macbook pro (I have a macbook aluminium)....
If someone has any solution or if this is a bug for Apple, that would be great to have any solution because currently, i can't go inside my folder through ssh... I have to use iTerm which doesn't have this problem.

Please make sure you are using the UTF-8 encoding in the Advanced tab of the Preferences Pane.
Yes, it's set to Unicode UTF-8.
Did you try removing com.apple.Terminal.plist in ~/Library/Preferences?
Yes, without any success.
What font are you using in Terminal? Monaco? Did you try other fonts, such as "Osaka Mono"?
I used Monaco 10 pt. Osaka Regular-Mono finally helps displaying Japanese characters. So could something be wrong with /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks/CoreText.fr amework/Resources/DefaultFontFallbacks.plist ?
BTW: All the Hiragino fonts don't display anything in Terminal. Is that normal behaviour? -
My weather app doesn't show the feels like temp or wind, etc. How can I fix this? I am running iOS 8.1.2.
is that really what it is? this is the native iphone weather app. the funny part is that when i use the actual weather channel app, it does provide it.
is this an api issue with the weather channel and the iphone then? i guess there's no fix?
thanks for your help by the way. -

IPhoto app doesn't show any photos from my photos app
I just upgraded my new iPad to iOS 6 beta. Maybe that's the problem but suddenly my iPhoto app doesn't show any photos at all. All the tabs (albums, photos, events, etc) are empty. When I open the app it says "updating photo library" briefly, but that's it. I tried rebooting, deleting the app and reinstalling it, basically everything I could. Is this a known iOs6 bug?
Ok, I have the release and I have the issue, photos are just boxes w no pictures, is there a way to remove library and reload? The photo app works fine and all pictures are there.

News feed on my Facebook app doesn't show the correct time. Can the time be set?
Does your phone show the correct time?
If not, change the time on your phone, see if it helps.
If it does, then sign out, sign back in. If that fails, the delete and reinstall. If that fails, then contact Facebook, as they're the developers of the app and will have the proper documentation to help you further. -
I am not seeing the weather in the notifications for 'today'. The weather app doesn't show up in the notifications dialog either. What to do?
Pappasbike wrote:
First make sure that Weather is listed in Notification Center, mine is a the very end of the list. If it's not go below to the Do Not Include list and see if it's there. If it is manually turn it on to appear in the main list.
Now when I swipe down from the home screen I get the date and any Today events, and below that a weather forecast stating the high and low for the day. If none of that is showing try shutting down and restarting your phone and see if that appears also make sure the Weather app is on one of your home screens, launch it from there and that alone may set everything up.
The weather app is just not listed. I did a soft reset, no improvement. I'm at a loss for anything else to try. Since the app is a system app, I can't delete and reload it.
This is hardly an earthshattering problem, but it bugs me. -
Our app doesn't show in some regions. Any ideas why?
Hello.
Our recently published Windows Phone app doesn't show in some regions.
The app is free. During the publishing I have selected "Distribute to all markets at the base tier".
But I can't see the app in Lithuanian, Latvian or Russian Windows Phone store. Any ideas why?
It is visible in other stores - USA, Germany, Poland, Spain, Belgium...
App name is "Kinetic Puzzle - Animals". Below are a few examples:
Visible:
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/search?q=kinetic+puzzle
Not visible:
http://www.windowsphone.com/ru-ru/search?q=kinetic+puzzle
Any ideas why? We have spent half of a day trying to find where is the problem, but with no luck. Any help highly appreciated.Though its there, just not visible in search , try these :
For Russian marketplace :
http://www.windowsphone.com/ru-ru/store/app/kinetic-puzzle-animals/ea5dd18e-147a-4ce8-8924-9052675935bf
For Latvian marketplace :
http://www.windowsphone.com/lv-lv/store/app/kinetic-puzzle-animals/ea5dd18e-147a-4ce8-8924-9052675935bf
You can obviously raise the issue on Windows Phone app store support.

I updated my iOS to 7 yesterday. But my music app doesn't show the 'Radio' button as the online videos and Apple website claims. What could be the reason and how to fix it. All other apps, swipe up/down seem to be working fine.
Try to connect in recovery mode, explained in this article:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
Before that, back up your device, explained here:

Since updating to OS7 the video app doesn't show any titles for movies I have downloaded on my iPad. Anyone have the same problem or a fix?
Many users have solved the problem by syncing several times; and if that doesn't work, perform a simple restore. Your titles will come back.

Console.app doesn't show up (window)
Hi,
a week or so after I've upgraded to 10.9.2 my console.app stopped opening any log file and it doesn't show even a (blank) window.
I checked the activity monitor and it seems to be working.
I've typed "tail -f /var/log/system.log" in a terminal window and opened the Console and it showed this lines:
15 Foundation 0x00007fff87c187ba -[NSNotificationCenter postNotificationName:object:userInfo:] + 68
16 AppKit 0x00007fff8da50cf9 -[NSApplication _postDidFinishNotification] + 289

18 AppKit 0x00007fff8da4931a _DPSNextEvent + 1238
19 AppKit 0x00007fff8da48a2b -[NSApplication nextEventMatchingMask:untilDate:inMode:dequeue:] + 122
20 AppKit 0x00007fff8da3cb2c -[NSApplication run] + 553
21 AppKit 0x00007fff8da27913 NSApplicationMain + 940
22 libdyld.dylib 0x00007fff89b0a5fd start + 1
After readind some posts I've deleted com.apple.console* from ~/Library/Preferences and /Library/Preferences but no luck.
Any idea how to solve this issue? Not sure if this is a typo in your post but:

Terminal.app and the European Unicode characters?
Does anyone have the unicode characters working properly in Terminal.app?
If I try to write in GNU nano 1.2.4 for instance "örrör" it translates into:
(one empty line)
örr
ör
which isn't certainly right. This is especially awkward when editing an unicode text file where the text then easily becomes more or less garbled. Usually more.
It doesn't seem to make any difference whether or not I use the Finnish extended (unicode) keyboard layout or the conventional one in nano. If the Terminal.app window preferences are set as UTF-8, it says:
?rr
?r
which looks even more garbled.
In plain bash the characters print like this:
å = \345
ä = \344
ö = \366
so my mighty apple translates the example string "örrör" as "\366rr\366r".
Any ideas, anyone?
PowerBook G4 @ 1.5 GHz Mac OS X (10.4.4) 1.25 GB DDR SDRAM
Debian Sarge 3.1 as a slave fetchmail server.Hi solarflare,
My first (and essentially only) language is English as well. However enough folks have asked that I have experimented with multibyte characters. There are so many apps and options involved, it's difficult to get consistent results. However, I'll recount as many settings as I can recall.
To begin with, you are right about the LC settings. It helps many apps to have:
export LCALL=enUS.UTF-8
export LANG=en_US.UTF-8
set in your shell startup scripts. Then the system should be set to produce unicode when you type. In the "Input Menu" tab of the "International" pane of "System Preferences", you should select a unicode keyboard layout, such as U.S. Extended.
To configure the Terminal, you need to open the "Terminal Inspector" by selecting "Window Settings..." in the "Terminal" menu. To type many multibyte characters, you need the option key. To use it, you must have the "Use option key as meta key" checkbox unchecked, although I find the meta key too important in UNIX to leave that unchecked. In the dropdown menu in the "Display" pane of the "Terminal Inspector", you should set the "Character Set Encoding" to "Unicode (UTF-8)". In the "Emulation" pane of the same window, you must uncheck the "Escape non-ASCII characters" checkbox. That is important as I've read that it is checked by default and that can produce some pretty strange results.
Now it's helpful to use a very modern shell. For instance, the latest beta version of zsh-4.3 has the best unicode support of all versions of zsh. After you've chosen a good shell, you're at the mercy of the application that you're using. As I gather you've noticed, vim has excellent unicode support and picks up on the LC settings. I have no idea about nano but it is meant to be a minimal text editor.
I know that my settings allow me to type extended characters and the "Character Palette" lets me insert more. As far as other command line utilities go, the best you can do is to choose well and keep your apps as up-to-date as possible. Fink or Darwin Ports can often help in that regard.

OS X Mavericks Server.app doesn't show site, but default Welcome to OS X Server page
I am completely new to Mac OS X Server.app, so sorry if I sound dumb .
1. I installed Server.app to Mavericks.
2. Enabled Websites service in it.
3. Installed MySql.
4. Installed Wordpress using this script: https://github.com/MacMiniVault/Mac-Scripts/blob/master/mmvwordpress/mmvwordpres s-README.md
5. Created coresponding website to Websites
6. I opened Safari and navigated to my new created website: http://predstavitev.net:8081 and all I get is server's default page.
7. I checked what is the content of my "predstavitev.net" folder on server and found that it actually contains Wordpress installation files:
Please help me find out, what am I doing wrong. Thanks.Check the Console.log for details that might be getting logged there related to this issue.
You're probably using NAT here, which means you'll be using split DNS or using an internal domain and an external domain. (Confusingly, DNS centrally matters with the web client accessing the web site, and rather less so with the web server itself.)
OS X Server itself requires DNS, irrespective of the web server — usual setup is the local IP network (not in 192.168.0.0/24 nor 192.168.1.0/24 subnets due to collisions with VPN connections later, and preferably somewhere "weird" in the 192.168.0.0/16 or 172.16.0.0/12 or 10.0.0.0/8 private IP blocks — pick a weird range for your subnet, not the first few ones that everybody else uses.
To verify local DNS services, launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and issue the following harmless diagnostic command:
sudo changeip -checkhostname
That'll require an administrative password, might show a one-time informational message around the use of sudo, and will then display some network information and then an indication that no changes are required, or that there are DNS or network problems.
Do not use .local nor .arpa as your domain. (That works fine for incidental stuff, but network security and secure connections and related underpinnings all expect the servers involved to have valid DNS — not Bonjour.)
Unfortunate, if DNS is actually incorrectly configured, then various services including the mail server and Open Directory and the profile manager all tend to have problems, and all SSL-based security is dependent on proper DNS configurations.
FWIW, I'd be careful with managing a WordPress server, as breached with that Content Management System (CMS) package are common. I'd probably either host the site elsewhere (in the "cloud"), or would configure the WordPress web server in a DMZ to isolate the potential damage arising from a breach. (I use Drupal locally and while breaches with that are somewhat less common than with WordPress, I still lock that down, and still prefer to DMZ that.) With WordPress or Drupal or any other CMS, keep your patches current, too. -
Argent help needed! Downloaded app doesn't show in...
Need help! I downloaded Six-Guns into my newly bought NOKIA Lumia 720, but it doesn't show up in the App List, so I cannot play it nor uninstall it. Still it takes more than 800 MB and only left around 400 MB in my internal storage!!! An argent assistance is needed!!!
Yes, it's under the Game.
It can be better if the game also shows up in App List for my convenience.
