Terminal Configuration Q: Differental or Single-Ended for reading IC pin I/O's

I'm trying to simultaneously monitor the I/O's on each of the pins of a 14-pin differential amplifier IC chip. This chip is part of an operating circuit so I've got a chip-clip with breakout wires going to a cDAQ 9172 and NI-9205 module.
My question is about terminal configuration with this particular module and an embedded IC chip contained within an "live" operating circuit.
Right now I have pins 1-14 of the chip-clip breakout wires plugged into the module from ACH0-ACH7, then from ACH16-ACH21 (basically straight down the LH side of the module's terminals). I have a standalone ground wire going from the PCB's negative rail to COM on the 9205. Using Signal Express I have the terminal configuration set to RSE.
Is this the proper terminal configuration for this application?
What I'm trying to do is record the amplitudes of the IC chip's I/O's while the circuit is operating. I will swap out different IC chips and compare the outputs of each one.

Jason,
I've read both documents in full which is where I got the information for terminal configuration. My concern is whether the readings are accurate based on the terminal configuration I've selected. I'm getting "data" when I log the voltages from the chip but it's hard to tell if the data is truly accurate to each pin or if there is crosstalk or ghosting going on.
Again, this is a 14-pin op amp I'm trying to measure voltages from. The chip is on a battery powered circuit so I have each leg of the pin tied to a single Analog IN channel on the 9205 and the ground lead from the chip tied to COM, measuring RSE.
Below is a quick schematic of the terminal config.
I think it's right but again if I'm looking at inaccurate voltages I wouldn't know either...

  • Differential using single ended mode

Hi I am using the multifunction  DAS Card which is set to single end mode as I need to use it to acquire all input signals, using single end channels. Now  I have got the corrected measured inputs in RMS voltage and I would like to get the differential value from the acquired inputs, using Labview functions. So How do I go about it?
    Cheers,
    Clement

If all you need is the difference between one channel and another, the subtract function usually works. If it's more complicated, could explain with more details?

  • Single app subscription for Photoshop CS6 vs Photoshop CC

What is the difference between a single app subscription for Photoshp CS6 and Photoshop CC?

    Hi Jeff2014,
The difference lies in between the version.
Initially the Creative Cloud was released with the then running current version which was CS6, Creative Cloud comes with a feature of self upgrade at no extra cost.
Photoshop CC is the upgraded version of Photosho CS6, in future the upgrades will be done autmatically.
This will help a user to have the upgraded automatically as long as the user has an active subscription.

  • Difference between select single * & select upto 1 rows

difference between select single * & select upto 1 rows

    Hi,
According to SAP Performance course the SELECT UP TO 1 ROWS is faster than SELECT SINGLE because you are not using all the primary key fields.
Select single is a construct designed to read database records with primary key. In the absence of the primary key, it might end up doing a sequential search, whereas the select up to 1 rows may assume that there is no primary key supplied and will try to find most suitable index.
The best way to find out is through sql trace or runtime analysis.
Use "select up to 1 rows" only if you are sure that all the records returned will have the same value for the field(s) you are interested in. If not, you will be reading only the first record which matches the criteria, but may be the second or the third record has the value you are looking for.
The System test result showed that the variant Single * takes less time than Up to 1 rows as there is an additional level for COUNT STOP KEY for SELECT ENDSELECT UP TO 1 ROWS.
The 'SELECT SINGLE' statement selects the first row in the database that it finds that fulfils the 'WHERE' clause If this results in multiple records then only the first one will be returned and therefore may not be unique.
    Mainly: to read data from
The 'SELECT .... UP TO 1 ROWS' statement is subtly different. The database selects all of the relevant records that are defined by the WHERE clause, applies any aggregate, ordering or grouping functions to them and then returns the first record of the result set.
Mainly: to check if entries exist.
    Select Single
You need to mention all the key fields of the table.
    No END SELECT required.
More performance compared to upto 1 row.
Where as UP to 1 row.
YOu can use if you do not have all the primiary key fields available.
    END SELECT requeired.
Since all keys are not passing, possiblities of have other rows which satisfies the condition.
Select Statement with EndSelect is a loop, which in a single run retrieves a single Record. This Record has to be stored in a Work Area and then appended into an Internal Table.
Select Statements without EndSelect is not a loop and it retrieves the whole Record set matching the Criteria in a single shot and has to be Stored in an Internal Table Directly.
The most important thing to remember about the SELECT SINGLE is
There are several things to remember:
    1) It retrieves only one row
    2) It does not need an ENDSELECT statement
    3) THE FULL KEY OF THE TABLE MUST BE INCLUDED IN
THE WHERE CLAUSE OF THE SELECT STATEMENT

  • How to connect single ended connections?

I am new in this field. I am trying to accquire single ended data on

  • How to specify "single ended" or "differential" data acquiring in NIDAQmx c++

    Dear all,
i wrote a program in VC++ which acquires some analog voltage channels using NIDAQmx. By means of the "DAQmxCreateAIVoltageChan()" function it works properly, but I've faced a question:
When I measure a sine wave as a input channel whith diffrential terminals (pins) on NI-Device, there is no problem but if I connect the input signal in single ended form (connect input signal to each single terminal and connect GND of NI-Device and Signal generator together), there is a irrigular and alternative offset (DC value) in aqcuiered data that shows there is an error in connection of GND's. (I'm sure about function generators)
Is there any specific function to assign exactly that input data should be measured in differential or single ended form?  I mean, should I write seperate codes in C++, if I want to measure input signal in both forms of differential and single ended or does the mentioned function satisfy both needs (when the answer is positive wherefrom does this fault emerge)?
Thanks a lot for your helpfully replies in advance,
    sincerely yours,
    Mohammad Harati

    Hi Harati,
I'm not sure what your question is, but I have some questions too:
    1) Which device are you using?
    2) Did you connect the AI GND pin (in single ended)?
    3) As you called DAQmxCreateAIVoltageChan(), what parameter did you set for terminalConfig in eiter cases?
Here is the documentation for DAQmxCreateAIVoltageChan()

  • Single Window Mode for Windows version?

    Hey there,
as some might know, there's a "hack" to get Single Window Mode for Safari on Mac. Normally. links with "target=_blank" will open in a new window instead of a new tab. In order to get Single Window Mode, the following code needs to be typed into Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool true
Unfortunately, this won't work on Windows, so I would like to know if there's another way to have Single Window Mode.

No, there isn't. That feature is not implemented in the Windows version The only way to open targeted links in a new Tab is to Control-click or Right-click on the link and select Open in New Tab from the contextual menu.

  • Can't get graphs to show single-ended input

Using mx Base, I've created an Analog continuous input task. I've configured the task on the configuration utility as single ended, but on my VI graph, the data shows up as what it would be if it were differential. Is there some kind of disconnect between the configuration utility and my task on my VI? when i use the NI datalogger that's included with the mx Base driver and I choose RSE as the terminal configuration, i get the correct readings (same readings as i see in the oscilloscope).
    Please help!

Hello Greenepece. Thank you for contacting National Instruments. Your best bet is to use the dynamic examples that come with DAQmx Base. These examples can be found at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\examples\daqmxbase\Dynamic\ai. In these examples there is a VI called DAQmx Base Create Channel.vi that has an input called input terminal configuration. Create a constant for this and select RSE. This should give you the same results as the Data Logger. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day!

  • Can i use a single ended encoder with a 7344 controller?

Can i use a single ended encoder with a 7344 controller?

The encoder inputs of the 7344 are ground referenced. So the answer is yes, you can use a single ended encoder with a 7344 controller. Signal connection should be straight forward.
If you are using a UMI-7764 for signal connections please refer to the "Encoder Terminal Block" section (page 15) of the UMI User Guide. There are drawings for the signal connections for single ended and differential encoders.
For the case that you don't have the user guide of the UMI-7764 please download it from this link:

  • Keyword re-directs in a single endeca instance for different application

    Hi all,
We are maintaining a  single endeca application for 2 different web-sites.Now,we have a requirement to set up keyword -re-directs for both the applications but the re-directs set up in 1 application should not clash with the other.Actually,I tried setting up in 2 differnt groups using dev studio, but I am not seeing any difference in JSP ref application.Ex: I set up a re-direct for word "Shampoo" in both sites but at any time, only 1 re-direct is seen.
    Please advise.
    Regards
    Shreyas

    Hi Shreyas,
Keyword redirects are global to an index.
You can try following work arounds,
Option 1 :- I guess you are using experience manager, in that case, you can create a custom cartridge for the keyword redirects and play around with triggers to makes it application aware. This option is good if you have number of keyword redirects are lesser.
Option 2 :- With the existing keyword redirects you can do something like below, which is a dirty workaround. see if you can include site name in the user search term . For example say you have site1 and site2 as two sites. So if you are to add a term as google for site1 and not not for site2, then you will add it as "site1 google" with match all or match phrase. from the front end you will have to query twice first time with "google" as search term and second time with "site1 google" as a search term. you should get just keyword redirects from the second query. Additional search query here may not be good for the production environments. Thisld  option should not be used if you have large volume of data or large volumes of the traffic.
    Hope that makes sense!
