Terminal full screen??

I want to use terminal in full screen. Can someone give me some solution.

Launch Terminal and click on the green button. Alternatively, Terminal->Window Settings->Window and adjust the dimensions settings to suit your need.

  • Full-screen terminal dims display

    Hi,
when switching to full-screen for Terminal my external display reduces its brightness to an irritating degree. Brightness level are back to normal when the menu is displayed or other windows are on top of the terminal (for example the preferences window or the alt-tab task switcher). As soon as these windows are gone the brightness drops again.
I can't seem to find a setting for this. Any pointers are greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

Problem solved. It turned out to be a setting of the monitor which would dim the backlight when a certain percentage of the screen is black (my terminal background is set to black). After un-setting this option the problem disappeared. (IIYAMA ProLite E2607WS, Contrast/Brightness -> ACR -> off)

  • Full screen terminal?

Does anyone know of a way to make terminal go ful screen?
    Many thanks,
    Adam

That only seems to maximise the window.
Is there any way of making it entirely full screen, so I can nothing but that?
    Many thanks anyway,
    Adam

  • Why did terminal open full screen when I logged out?

I tried to log out of my account this morning, only to be launched into a full-screen terminal. It was very unnerving, especially after the events that led up to this occcurance.
My computer was acting a bit funny this morning. First it wouldn't connect to the internet, but it said my I was receiving a signal. Checked my Network prefs. They looked normal. Decided to check my Sharing prefs. I notice my firewall was turned off. When I go to turn it back on, I get the spinning beach ball. Five minutes later I force quit, restart System Prefs and have another go at it, only this time the System Prefs are locked and it won't let me unlock them. And that's when I decided to log out and then log back in . . . But I never did.
After seeing the big black screen with the blinking cursor I paniced. I shut down the computer, let it sit, and then started it back up.
Any idea what the problem was?

  • Can only view Mail in full-screen mode

After installing Yosemite, I can only view the main Mail window in Full Screen mode, unless I check "Classic View" in Preferences. Classic view does not help much, because it does not show the preview, which is essential to me. If I exit fullscreen mode, the minimized window appears for a split-second and then disappears down the left bottom corner of the screen and you cannot find it anywhere. The only way to see anything again is to go to Mail - View - Full Screen. Any help is much appreciated.

Yes, I get the mail quit unexpectedly notification, together with a problem report, which is 808 lines but the pertinent part seems to be a CALayer position:

  • Adobe Reader - Open in SuSE 11 full screen

I was having issues with the reader plugin for Firefox on a linux terminal so I am abandoning the plugin all together.  I am switching to use acroread and open a new Reader window instead of a tab within Firefox.
Can anyone tell me which file controls the Reader to open in full screen window?  I have firefox open to a web page, I click on a pdf, a new window opens ( Adobe Reader window, not a firefox window)  with the PDF.  This window is only about 1/4 size and I want to have it open full screen.  If I resize the window by using the corner handle, every window after that one is full screen.  Problem is, I have to make this change on a large number of remote machines and a file change is the only way I can do it.
I thought it was either ../ Adobe/9.0/Preferences/reader.prefs or ../ Adobe/9.0/Preferences/mozilla/prefs.js but not seeing anything pertinant there to the change.
    Any thoughts?

  • Dock doesn't show in full screen Safari

I have the dock set to reveal itself when I go to the bottom of the screen. When I'm in full screen mode in Safari it takes me swiping down at least 3 or 4 times before the dock will appear. I've tried it in other apps on full screen and it still doesn't react as easily as it should but not as bad as Safari.
I'm assuming only an update from Apple will fix this. I'm posting here in hopes they read this and fix it. (Hope I'm posting in the correct area for that).
    Thanks

Well you could try rebooting or
in the terminal.app relaunch the Dock, copy and paste:
    killall Dock

  • Automatically open movies in Quicktime Full Screen

I know that if I open a movie file in Quicktime I can go to to:
window/show movie properties/presentation/enter full screen mode when opened
& then the movie will start on full screen when i play it. But how can i avoid this step if i want all movies to play on full screen by default ? How can i edit Quicktime to open full screen every movie?
Can i enter a command on terminal and it will do the trick? or a script? automator?
thanks for any ideas or comments ; ) i really hate to do an extra step.

Limnos, thanks for your reply ; ) On VLC you go to preferences, choose full screen as default and voila, from now on movie files will open full screen. I am sure there is a way to make full screen the default view option on Quicktime but until now I can't still find it : (
ps. I know is command+F but lets be minimalist, if you don't need this another step, lets avoid it ; ) -as i said on vlc you cant avoid it. I know Steve dislikes extra steps if unnecessary, i also do ^_-

  • When running full screen apps - dock is slow, difficult to appear

This is on a new MBP with an additional external monitor.  The primary display is still the laptop display.  When apps are in full screen, simply bringing the cursor to the bottom of the screen does NOT bring up the dock.  I have to continually pull down on the mouse to get it to appear.  Or I have to pull the mouse down to the bottom, stop, then pull it down again.  This seems to be in place to allow access to features at the very bottom of the window of a full screen app...whithout accidentally bumping the dock.  Maybe there's a setting for this but in it's current state, I hate it - I'm not going to use full screen apps if this is how they act.

Revealing the Dock while in a full-screen app requires not only moving the cursor to the bottom of the screen, but keeping your finger on it or moving the cursor along the bottom edge (or other "tricks") to reveal the Dock.
    SUPER ANNOYING TO ME
Many users may like that way of operation, perhaps a great majority. But hundreds of thousands may find it annoying to have this cognitive pause imposed and would rather have the dock appear accidently once in a while when moving the cursor close to the bottom area of the display.
    This worked before Mavericks:
Setting the Dock autohide delay to zero (in Terminal, with write defaults...) removed this annoyance. As soon as your cursor's at the bottom of the screen, the Dock's there.
In Mavericks: Nothing to do! (so far)
APPLE: "You" make WRONG design decisions, "you" make professional users spend dozens of hours investigating how to tweak basic features behind the scenes. And THEN, "you" quietly invalidate those changes. Please, the best design decision that "you" could make is to give the user more choice. Please, give us a section in Preferences where these things may be changed. The religious dumbing down of the interface in favour of supposedly clean esthetics is plain WRONG.
It is also quite unacceptable that APPLE does read these pages but never responds.

  • Possible to go full-screen without "Spaces"? To disable "Spaces"?

I never found Leopard's "Spaces" feature to be intuitive or useful. I specifically dislike that it doesn't work with the command-tab application switching and the command-h application hiding functionalities that I've used heavily since Jaguar.
In the move from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion, I discovered the new in-OS full-screen functionality seems to create a new "Space," to my disappointment. Now in Mavericks, more web-delivered videos are being diverted down the Mac OS Spaces route (such as Vimeo and Viddler).
Is there a way (such as through Terminal) to circumvent the "Spacing" of full-screen modes, perhaps by disabling Spaces altogether?
    Thank you.

    Those are all fine
Here is how to see RAM overloaded…
Reboot to see the system in it's default state.
Open TextEdit for the sake of it
Open Activity Monitor & Terminal from /Applications/Utilities.
    Select the Memory tab
In Terminal enter the following command
    memory_pressure -l critical
    # note that is a lowercase L
RAM usage will climb, compression will begin the VM will become way more than the system has installed.
Eventually the system will start swapping  (look for RED) - Watch the 'memory pressure' & 'Swap used' as this happens.
Try switching to TextEdit - the system is still coping !
Switch back to Terminal & hit ctrl+c to stop the process.
Watch the VM & memory pressure return to normal levels.
    This OS kicks 4ss !
    Your problems may lie elsewhere

  • Full screen Playback only on Main Display

I noticed that after upgrading to Lion quicktime player won't play movies full screen on my second display.  Under Snow Leopard if the quicktime window was on the second display and you hit full screen it would fill the display is was on.  Now the video slides to the main display and then goes full screen.  There doesn't seem to be any way to change that behavior.  There are no preferences.
The only work around is to move the menu bar in the display preferences to the second menu, so that the second monitor becomes the main one.
Any solutions or terminal commands I make to set it back to the old way?

This issue seems to be related to Lion's "Full Screen App" mode in Lion, where a window that goes to full screen creates a separate Space, and it always uses the "primary" screen (the one with Menu Bar).  So it's the same as making a Safari window go to full screen; it always uses the screen with the Menu Bar.
But I did noticed something interesting.  If it's a video that can play in iTunes (instead of using QuickTime Player), then you can make it play full screen on the other screen.  Play the video in iTunes so that it plays in a separate window.  Move the window to the secondary screen (the one without Menu Bar), and make it go full screen.  It plays at full screen on that screen.
So it is possible, but Apple has not done it for QuickTime Player.  You should send Apple feedback to request the same functionality for QuickTime Player, like I did.
Also, VLC Player (third-party video player app) still uses the "old school" way of doing full screen mode, so it still works the same way as before.  Full screen will go to the screen that has the window playing the video.

  • How to change full screen button back?

After upgrading to Yosemite the window green button primary click now brings the window into fullscreen, I find this very annoying.
I frequently want to make a window bigger but have access to other windows too. Going fullscreen accidentally and having to go back, waiting for both animations to complete really messes up my workflow.
I know alt-click does the old behaviour, but this requires 2 hands, and doing fullscreen purposely is something I do so rarely that it should really be the alt-click action for me.
Also I know double clicking the background works too, but only in Apple apps (Safari, Terminal, Finder etc). This doesn't work on 3rd party apps, leading to a disjointed experience.
Does anybody know how to get the old behaviour back? I really hope these full screen commands become an option in Preferences.
    Thanks for any help

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • System wide Keyboard shortcuts in Full Screen Apps

As a new ibook user I am trying to figure out how to make the best use of my system, and have run into a problem:
When running full screen applicationsn (like games), system wide keyboard shortcuts don't seem to behave as expected: they simply don't work. Specifically I cannot use the keyboard shortcuts for Expose or Desktop Manager when in any full screen application.
In fact, it doesn't even seem possible to leave a full screen application running and get back to my desktop. In windows I could alt-tab to another application and it would hide the full screen application minimized in the taskbar, but command-tab simply doesn't work in OSX when in a full screen app.
Is there any way to make all or particular system wide keyboard shortcuts work while running full screen applications? With the terminal or something? I'm just lost. Thanks for helping a mac newbie.

Thanks Tim, you're a genius. That gave me the clue.
The new user 'test' does not have the F5 behaviour problem.
Therefore I checked through my list of login items, and found that it was 'Contactizer Pro' that used F5 to add a Quick Task.
Changing that default stopped the problem.
(The reason this is an issue is that I have a new Kensington Wireless Presenter, and it appears that pushing the laser pointer button also sends an F5 keystroke (for some reason)- which would stop my Keynote presentation and open the 'Quick Task' window!)
