Terminal-It is scarey, and I want to only one thing-can someone help?

I really do not want to learn about terminal. That's a whole different level, and I wouldn't even be addressing it except for one small issue. I am an amputee, and sometimes my hands are not steady enough for complex mouse or typing operations, especially when I am tired. For example, I own a mighty mouse which I like, but I cannot get my fingers steady enough to use it consistently. So for some time I have used a Logitech MX Revolution mouse with PC and Mac and it helps me. But the Mac vesrion of the software won't allow me to program a double click, something that is especially important.
Through another person's help, I found a shareware utility that handles it well, called "Steermouse". But to correct an issue with the scroll wheel, they say in their FAQ (infact the second item listed!) that a phrase must be pasted into Terminal.
Here is the line:
defaults write jp.plentycom.SteerMouse LOGITECHMX_REVOLUTIONWHEEL -int -2
It seemed so simple til I tried it without success. Therefore my request.
That was the background. My simple question is, can one of you more experienced types step me through this one paste, and save it in such a way that it operates each time the machine boots up?
If you can, It would greatly help my Mac usage, and I promise to stay out of terminal in the future .

I'll leave this as an open question. I still do not
know what happened, and the change I must have made
is invisible to me.
Right, as long as it's successful in making the change, you won't see anything in the Terminal application. I'd guess it didn't work until you rebooted because the program might only read its preferences when you reboot or log into your account. Some programs will do that.
What happens if I ever need to
remove it?
Print out and save the page you got the instructions from. I'm not sure what the default values for the Logitech would be, but if you change the "-2" at the end of the command they had you use, that'll change the behavior of the mouse. So you'd change "-2" to "-1" or "-3" or one of "0" thru "12".
You should also be able to remove the preferences for the Steermouse and get back the default behavior, though it'll also reset all your other settings for the mouse.
