Terminal shows blank window with 80x24 and nothing happens
Hi!
I was trying to make Isync work with my unsupported nokia 6086 phone, and it required pasting text using vi editor. later I tried vim, and at some point just closed the terminal window. Now the terminal does not show bin/bash prompt, just a blank window where I can type anything, but nothing happens..
I tried to create another user account to reset the shell but same thing happens there..
Same happened to me today trying to install Clang, did you find a fix for this? Thanks

The resume loader is probably trying to resume from hibernation by reading the hiberfil.sys file.
Press and hold the power button to turn off the computer.
Does the same thing happens when you restart?
Can you use the F2 key to access the BIOS? -

Problem with iPhone contacts synchronization settings
I am having problems with iPhone contacts synchronization settings in iTunes 10. I have: - iPhone 4 - OS 4.2.1 - Windows Vista PC When I view the device in iTunes and click on "Info" at the top of the screen, I see a box to "Synch contacts with"...in iTunes for Windows,by lindsacl,Dec 4, 2010Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")<br />

I have a suggestion for you, salvaLosAngeles by submitting a feedback, within Final Cut Pro X feedback pull down menu, be sure to include this link to this discussion forum, so that Apple Final Cut Pro X software engineering team look into this.
Also try to provide Apple detailed steps that led to what you are seeing.

Hi I replaced my hard drive on macbook and I want to install mac osx10.5 with the CD that came with the macbook. When I run the CD after a while I get the page showing language options for 2 second then a gray screen appears and nothing happens. I partitioned my hard drive and I tried installing Microsoft windows and that worked just fine. But I do not understand why it wont install mac os x 10.5????? PLEASE HELP ME. Thanks Hamid

My ipod 60gb classic is showing as fully charged until I connect it to my pc when it comes up with the error message, 'please wait very low battery' and the little wheel goes round and nothing happens, can anyone explain why this is and what i can do?
I have worked my way through the assistant and nothing works. I have tried connecting in disc mode but although the screen on the ipod is showing that the device is charged and that it is in disc mode as soon as I connect it to the computer it comes up with the error message 'please wait very low battery' and stays like that until I disconnect when it appears to be OK again. I have tried on both pc and mac.
BTW the ipod is an ipod video not classic if that makes any difference.

I cant get my ipad 2 out of recovery. The apple icon stays on and nothing happens. I tried restoring it through Itunes but it comes up with a 3194 error code. I have the latest Itunes being 10.6.1.7 and the latest windows update.Can someone please help?
Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times. -
I'm on a website. I click on a link, and nothing happens. In the lower corner of the browser, it says "Done" Internet Explorer works fine. Gasp!
To test if an add-on is causing the problem try running Firefox in [[safe mode|Firefox safe mode]], that will disable all add-ons. If it works in safe mode, follow the procedure in the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article to identify the culprit.
Another troubleshooting option is to create a new profile. Firefox stores user data in a profile, creating a new profile will show if the problem is in your profile. For details of how to do that see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows Creating a new Firefox profile on Windows - MozillaZine Knowledge Base].
If the new profile works, you can copy the files as shown in the "Copying files between profile folders" section of the [[Recovering important data from an old profile]] article. You will need to re-install any extensions. -

though, right-click on the notification area works.
right-click = pressing the trackpad with 2 fingers.Now I have figured out I have to use 3 fingers instead of 2 fingers.
but in the BootCamp Control Panel there is an option that says

Have just tried to open iTunes, and I get a blank window (no dialogue, just a blank window) with an OK button. When I press OK, it closes down (not having opened anything) and shuts down. I've tried opening while holding down the option key, as I would to open with a new iTunes folder, and I"m getting the same empty window with an OK. Very frustrating, has anyone seen this, and can anyone help? Thanks in advance, Kate
so, I called a friend who's more experienced than I am. He walked me through some steps, checking iTunes and we got the same dialogue -free window with the OK button. We then uninstalled iTunes, downloaded it afresh, and it opened with no problems. Seems to all be there, music, tv, etc. Not sure what the issue was, but it has stopped this problem.

I changed my ID Apple with another email, i received the confirmation, i changed my password and also received the confirmation but when i try to download something on my iPhone it still shows me my old email and nothing works ! ahhhhh what and how do i solve this ?
On your iPhone go to Settings > Store.
Select the Apple ID at the bottom.
Select Sign Out at the menu selection provided.
Follow this by signing in with your new Apple ID/iTunes store account.
All apps - all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account that was used to download the apps. In order to install an app update for the apps downloaded with your previous Apple ID/iTunes account, you will need to use that account and password. -
My mail is configured correctly. When I go to view my inbox I get the 'Load More Messages...' with the number of messages showing. I touch the display and nothing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the email account and restarted the device. I can send mail fine as well as view my sent messages. Very confusing.
I have two yahoo accounts and I know as they 'improved' their servers I had periodic outages. It'd work fine on my webmail on my computer, webmail on the iPad, but not via the mail app. And it was stuff on their end. It may be a case of wait and see and you may need to eventually remove/readd the account on your iPhone.
When the issue is on their end, unfortunately there's not much for users to do beyond wait it out or find work arounds. -
