Terminals bouncing between AP's
We just installed WCS, 2 WLC 4402's with 29 1131 AP's. I have a user who is half way between 2 AP's. He keeps bouncing between the 2 AP's and gets a pop up message each time he does. He has an IBM T43 with a built in wireless card. How can I keep him associated just to one of the AP's. He is a Director so this is a big issue for him. I do not see anything in WCS or the WLC to designate a client to a specific AP. Any help on this would be great.
Under the Intel card properties there was a Roaming Agressively option, by unchecking the default if I moved the slide bar to a lower setting the card is more sticky to a AP. The higher setting causes the card to always move to the stronger signal so ther is much more roaming. Thanks for your help. Something else I noted was that by default the card is set to connect 802.11g over 802.11a.

Is there way to "bounce between locators" to render audio within a comp?
In editing my vocal comp, I realized that I needed to extract a better version. So I just want to render the one phrase that I need and have it output to a separate track, or the audio bin, or wherever. I don't need to bounce the whole track and waste time and memory.

It's simple...just set the locator and bounce. To bounce the whole song, you set the locator for the whole song. -
What makes my default project location to bounce between two places in FCP X?
I wonder what makes my default project location to bounce between two places in FCP X?The project I am working on is on my local disks which are backed up (daily) to external eSATA enclosure. If I run FCP X just by clicking its icon (not a project file) in most cases it opens FCP X with a project but in event library there is not files linked.Sometimes it expands the project’s library located on backup station.
To make active the the local version (get it expanded and access all the files related to the project, I have to: close FCP X, launch FCP X by click on a project or a library file, close FCP X again and then I can get the project and its content displayed correctly just by clicking on a FCP X icon.
After backup is made (I use Carbon Copy Cloner to backup this volume) if I relaunch my FCP X, I have to start the procedure mentioned above all over again. What I am doing wrong?Munas, what you describes sounds a lot like the problem I've been experiencing.
I have two matching external drives mounted. Drive 1 is the primary, Drive 2 is an identical back-up. Both identically formatted.
FCPX randomly opens drive 2 when I start the program, even when I click on a sidebar link to a project on Drive 1. The clips are often, nonsensically, shown as off-line.
I really don’t care if FCPX recognizes drive 2, in fact I wish it wouldn’t. I don’t, obviously, want to unmount Drive 2 just to use FCPX.
My workaround for this was to rename the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Project folders “FCE” and “FCP” respectively on Drive 2, and configure my back up utility accordingly.
Now, although Drive 2 is listed in the Events and Project Libraries on start up, FCPX doesn’t recognize any events or projects on it, and it sits there as an icon that can’t be expanded. I can live with this until a fix comes, in fact I rather like it.

Windows 8.1 screen bounces between primary and secondary monitors
I have a Lenovo T530 laptop with a docking station and a IBM monitor L200P attached to it.
Up until yesterday, this configuration was running Windows 8 Pro with no issues.
However today, after I installed the Windows 8.1 upgrade, I started having problems with the screen bouncing between the primary and secondary monitors without my intervention. The problem happens very regularly, regardless of whether I have selected the laptop as primary monitor or the IBM monitor attached to the docking station.
I verified that the problem does not happen with Windows 7 and Windows 8 installation and only starts appearing after the Windows 8.1 upgrade is applied.
Does anybody have similar problems

Okay, I tried it, set it to 1.2 and even more stuff got blurry and fuzzy. Besides everything in the FF menu bar everything in the header on youtube and a few other pages did it too. It did make the pages fill the actual page better, but the blur is worse than this prob so I set it back to -1.0.
Any other ideas? -
Sound bouncing between Headphones and Internal Speaker
I'll use my headphones for an extended period of time and after I unplug the headphones, the sound will "bounce" btw Internal Speaker & Headphones per the Sound Output display within System Preferences. I am running the latest OS X. I do have an older PowerBook G4 12"...but I don't really remember encountering this issue until recently.
Thoughts? Suggestions?I have the same problem - when the headphones are not plugged in, I hear and see the sound output in the System Preferences -> Sound -> Output -> Choose a device for sound output shifting between Internal Speakers, Headphones and Built-in Audio (ispk).
When I plug in the headphones, though, the sound stablilises to the headphones. The sound, from iTunes at least, also seems to be ok with AirPort Express with AirTunes. Also if I play a music video with Quicktime, things return to normal. But simply playing music to the internal speakers is problematic.
My PowerBook G4 is also almost 2 years old, and just started doing this today. I suspect it has something to do with the headphone jack and auto-sensing whether it's plugged or not. But I've never noticed the Built-in Audio (ispk) option before this problem started up. -

What Tom said…and just to add: if you have any custom effects, pay attention to "Note" in the first section of this kb doc. (Speaking from experience, you can avoid a lot of stress by remembering to do that – especially if you're working on a job on someone else's system.)

3600 AP keeps bouncing between Primary & Secondary 5760 WLC
Hello All,
I am not sure if it was a good idea to change the controllers from software based to IOS based :(..... Anyway this is the first time I am working on the IOS based controllers and have been going through very unusual thing. I have a 3600 AP and a couple of 2600 AP, I am just at the start of the configuration for a new deployment. Even though I have many concerns but I will start with the one which is bothering me the most, which is the APs keep jumping from a primary controller to the secondary controller. I have attached the sh run, sh logging, and the sh version for a 3600 AP and the two controllers. All I can understand from the logs is that the capwap interface keeps going down which causes the AP to fall back to the other controller, I have also tried turning off the AP FALLBACK feature, still no luck.
Addiditional Confusions,
Does any one know as how to setup HA in these controllers, as I do not see any HA or RP (Port) on these controllers neither there is any stacking module on the controllers. Would it be the old way of doing it, which was defining Primary and Secondary Controllers on the APs, if yes than I should receive two different licenses for the Controllers. But these are my devices Part numbers:
Primary: AIR-CT5760-500-K9
Secondary: AIR-CT5760-HA-K9
for now I have enabled the evaluation license on both the devices. I hope that does not make any difference.Hi,
I have been doing some of my own trouble shooting and found out that as soon as I create a layer 3 interface on the controller so as to map it to any SSID, all of my APs start to jump on to the secondary controller and since there is a primary and secondary controller configuration on each AP they tend to come back but than soon after they jump back to the secondary....... As soon as I delete the additional layer 3 interfaces, apart from the wireless management, I get all the APs back to normal register to the controller without a glitch, I am pasting the logs being received for the APs behaviour. I have marked the logs in between with Asterics to indicate when I cleared the layer 3 interfaces and from there onwards all the APs started coming up again

My ipad mini is bouncing between the lock screen and the apple logo.
I am having a hard time turning it off. It will not reset. and the temperature is warm. What is wrong?
If it has been exhibiting this behavior since last night, that's probably why the iPad is getting warm.
Have you considered restoring the iOS software.... Restore to factory settings and them restore from a backup. Read this completely and take note of the last part of the article that discusses using Recovery Mode. That might be something you will need.

Nexus 1000v VEM module bouncing between hosts
I'm receiving these error messages on my N1KV and don't know how to fix it. I've tried removing, rebooting, reinstalling host B's VEM but that did not fix the issue. How do I debug this?
My setup,
Two physical hosts running esxi 5.1, vcenter appliance, n1kv with two system uplinks and two uplinks for iscsi for each host. Let me know if you need more output from logs or commands, thanks.

I cannot add Host A to the N1KV it errors out with,
vDS operation failed on host 192.168.52.100, An error occurred during host configuration. got (vim.fault.PlatformConfigFault) exception
Host B (192.168.51.100) was added fine, then I moved a vmkernel to the N1KV which brought up the VEM and got the VEM flapping errors. -
Mail bounces between two accounts
I have two email accounts on my macbook pro - Earthlink and Gmail. I have Earthlink set as the default account from which mail should be sent and this works fine. The problem is when someone replies to my original message and then I reply back, the message always comes from Gmail. How can I correct this?
The easiest way to accomplish this is to *create a new admin account* in the System Preferences/Accounts Pref Pane. Once the new admin account *(make sure the Allow user to administer this computer is checked in the new account)* is set up and performing like it should (by logging into it and verifying that you can actually administer the computer), change your primary account (the account that owns your emails) to a standard account by un-checking the *Allow user to administer this computer* in the Accounts Pref Pane. You can still administer the computer with your standard account, you will have to provide your admin login and password in the Authentication dialog boxes.

Moving between Extreme Base Station and Express Base Stations with Mac & PC
I just bought an Airport Express and connected it as an extension to my Airport Extreme Base station. All firmware has been updated as of today. I have things configured such that the Extreme is WEP but allowing for extension and the Express is working. My Macbook appears to be connecting to the Express now but it seems like I have to use the Utility to select either the Express or Extreme base station manually as opposed to having it just go to the strongest source automatically. Maybe I made an assumption that it worked like an access point. Moreover, the laptop PCs in the house are not making the jump to the Express at all. I can install the Utility on one of them and probably manually make the change but the other is a Corporate PC that is 'locked down.' And of course that is the one that I want to be able to use around the house.
Does anyone know if:
1. There is an ability to bounce between the Extreme and Express like access points on the Mac and the PC
2. Is there a way to configure a PC to use the Express or the Extreme without the Utility (i.e., if I setup the Express with a different Network name)
The key issue is that I do not have the ability to run an ethernet between the two base stations - they can only connect wirelessly.

Do you have the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) configured as a WDS main and the AirPort Express (AX) as a WDS remote?
Or are they both 802.11n capable and the AEBS is configured to have the extend network feature is enabled and the AX configured to act as an extension?
In either of those cases, they are working together as one big wireless network. In that situation, any client will connect to the base station which appears to be the "best" connection for them.
There is no need to install the AirPort Utility on any device. Any device with 802.11b/g/n wireless ability can connect to the network. -
Medium Setup Question. Wired between? WDS or Extend?
Hi, I have a Medium sized network. I need to know how to effiecienly setup my network for the best bandwidth and connection strength for the following:
Users: 25-30
Connections: WiFi ONLY
Source: Single IP (NO DHCP from Router) (2Mbps Down, 512Kbps Up)
Security: WPA2 and MAC Filtering
Area: 100ft x 100ft, Single Floor
Equipment: 1 x Airport Extreme (5th Generation)
1 x Airport Extreme (1st Generation)
1 x Airport Express (2nd Generation)
1 x Amped Wireless AP600EX Long Range Access Point (future use)
Cat 5e Cable
Should I Connect the 5Gen Extreme directly to the Router (wired), then add the 1Gen Extreme (wired) on the other side of the area to a port on the 5Gen Extreme. Both to provide WiFI.
I prefer to have a single broadcast network and allow users to "bounce" between the hardware seamlessly, as they are mobile and but mainly evenly distributed thoroughout the area.
WDS? 5Gen=main 1Gen=remote? Express&Long Range=remote? Will wired connection from the main help? If so, do the settings change?
or
Extend? Still connect wired between 5Gen and 1Gen Extreme? If so, do the settings change? Same or different channel?

VernYou would connect the Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the "main" AirPort to the WAN port (circle icon) on the "remote" Airport.
If your "main" AirPort is working OK, you do not need to make any changes to it.

No. The "main" AirPort must handle all DHCP and NAT for the entire network. The "remote" AirPort must be configured in Bridge Mode as I mentioned earlier.

You will create IP address conflicts and Double NAT errors on the network. I would recommend that you do NOT do this if you want the network to operate reliably and correctly. -
Swapping between music, pictures, transitions etc - Rests your position...
Aside from the fact that video effects are gone, which takes out almost all the creativity of iMovie... I have a gripe that is really, really annoying. When you swap between adding music, pictures, and transitions iMovie 08 resets where you were in any other item... So if your adding a few photos and you want to bounce between adding transitions to them or sound, you loose your place. This is awful if you have a huge library of either photos or music, you're forced to scroll all the way back through to get to what you were working with. I rushed out to buy iLife 08 specifically for iMovie, this is such a let down...
Windows is absolutely passing the buck, and what is more, they are doing it in hopes that we will pass them more bucks- Windows 7 offered a program (for free) that was called windows media center. Windows 8 does not have this however, they will suggest
that it you pay an additional $99.99 to upgrade to windows pro and THEN another $9.99 for windows media center, all will be fine in the media sharing department....

I have Windows 8 and fresh out of the box, I got an app called XBox Smartglass with my new (and supposedly improved) OS, Windows 8. Therefore, it is an OS issue, not a manufacturing issue or an Xbox issue or where ever else you may want to stream your
media to.
However, for whatever reason, I have been able to share media without upgrading or paying anything with not one, but two Xbox's...It has something to do with permissions, sharing, devices, networks...but don't ask me what, I truly, truly wish I could help
everyone...however, I just do not want windows weaseling more money out of already high paying customers.
Sometimes I right click on a pie of media and I receive a 'Play To' option. Sometimes that options offers me to 'Play To' 'The Dark Box' or 'Xbox 360' or one but not the other or; my personal favorite- the 'Play To' option is gone and the only option
is to 'Open With' the various media outlets on my PC but not stream it anywhere...and there is no rhyme or reason or setting that makes this consistent.
I wish I could help more, but I leave you with this- It is possible, It does have to do with Windows OS, and you do not have to pass anymore bucks their way to make it happen... -
LTE - 3G bouncing - used to be solid - resolution.. buy an extender -????
Signal has been solid for years. Recently drops to 1 bar - bouncing between 3G and LTE on 2 separate phones and models. Tower is now 2 miles away vs 1/4 mile.
Verizon has the gall to want to charge me $275 for an extender... are you kidding me?
Hello ATT.Apple has two prototypes out testing now. One is a thinner totally redesigned case. The problem with it is that Foxconn can't seem to build it. Hence the delay. The other prototype uses the existing case, but with updated (read dual core) internals. If they can get production up by September the first phone will be released and will be the iPhone 5. If they cannot, then the second prototype will be released as the iPhone 4GS.

This is my first go at this so be kind,
My question concerns launchpad. Coming from Snow Leopard I had been using spaces. I like to keep certain bundles of programs on separate desktops, for example all word processing related tasks in one place. I have set up the equivalent on Yosemite.
My problem is concerns the loss of exposé. Now I know when you swipe into launch pad you get a very similar effect but the issue I am having concerns the "zoom out" effect when you swipe into launchpad. With exposé all open apps/pages etc would be fully exposed - in my case several (sometimes as many as 9 word documents). What I am running into is when I do this in / into launch pad the "pile" of docs is exposed but they are still overlapping so I can't get a good look at which is which and visually identify where I want to navigate to.
My question is this; Is there a way to adjust the settings on launchpad so that when I swipe into it all the open apps/pages are fully separated (like in exposé) so that I can fully view all of them simultaneously? If so, instructions on how to do so would be greatly appreciated. Any alternative suggestions to doing this outside of launchpad are also welcome. If there is an exposé app for example, I would be quite willing to go that route.
My main concern is being able to quickly (ie a touchpad gesture) expand all the open pages so I can bounce between them.

Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.
