Terminating PPPoE Session in a 7206vxr Router
Hi
We are running a 7206vxr Router as an ISG. We have an Ethernet LAN , the clients are using a static IP assigned to their LAN Card. The clients are logging into the network using a Broadhop AAA Server ( SME ) using a Portal ( L4Redirect ). But we also want to use a PPPoE client to be used by the customers to logg in . I am attaching the output of "sh run" of the Router with this mail in which you can see the configuration which I have done for terminating the PPPoE Sessions. But somehow it is not working.
Any suggestions is welcome.
Abhishek
Hi Nirmal,
I have added a javascript function to handle the onunload event in the masthead.
This function opens a pop up window that terminates the session.
To terminate the session the pop up window redirects to the SAP logoff component which is:
/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.LogOutComponent?logout_submit=true
The only problem with the onunload event is that it also triggers on a browser refresh so I've added a check in the child window to see whether the parent window is still open or not and based on that decided whether to fire the logoff call.
If the parent browser is still open it's a refresh otherwise it is a close.
Only drawback of this solution is that the user must allow pop ups on the portal URL but that should already be allowed otherwise other parts of the portal won't work properly (such as BI reports).
Hope it helps,
Roy

10000: PPPoE session recovery after reload
Hi.
We have seen that there are a feature that recover the PPPoE sessions closed in one side and up in the other. This feature is called 'PPPoE Session Recovery After Reload '.
In the feature navigator, we can see that this feature is available for 7200 series. It seems not available for 10000.
But in the release notes of Cisco IOS 12.3(7)XI3,
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/routers/ps133/prod_release_note09186a008040929e.html
appears this bug as resolved:
CSCsa46626
PPP PADT messages are not sent by a PPPoX PTA router to a client when the PPPoX user is no longer connected to the PPPoX PTA router.
This feature is enabled only within the BBA Group configuration using:
bba-group pppoe pppoe1
sessions auto cleanup
This issue can occur when a Cisco 10000 Series router is used as a PPPoX PTA router, and there has been a network flap causing the PPPoX users to lose their connections. PPPoE will experience this issue when BBA Groups are in use. VPDN Group configuration does not support this feature.
There are no known workarounds.
We have tested the IOS 12.3(7)XI6, but the router (10000) doesn't send the PADT (auto cleanup). In 7200, it works correctly.
Anyone have has this problem?
Anyone can confirm if this feature is supported?
Regards.
JoseHi Jose ,
I checked it using feature navigator and noticed that cisco 10000 doesn't support ""PPPoE Session Recovery After Reload"" feature.
The following platforms support the feature.
1700
1800
2600
2800
3200
3600
3700
3800
7200

Setting PPPoE clients speed Via Cisco router
Hi i have a 7200 cisco router working as NAS (network access server) for PPPoE sessions , the clients connected DSLAMS and the Cisco connected to an AAA external Raduis server.
i want to set the user speed Via cisco router in a way which can be controlled in the Radius server , and not through the actual speed of the DSLAMS ports
Thanks alotHello Mohamed,
there is a feature called controlled subscriber bandwidth that may fit your needs:
see
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/bbdsl/configuration/guide/bba_con_sub_bdwth_ps6441_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html
it manipulates the ATM traffic parameters on a per user basis
these settings can be done on radius AV:
example:
The following example shows how to configure RADIUS attributes for a user profile for DBS:
[email protected] Password = "userpassword1", Service-Type = Outbound
Service-Type = Outbound,
Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:tunnel-id=tunnel33",
Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:tunnel-type=l2tp",
Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:l2tp-tunnel-password=password2",
Cisco-Avpair = "vpdn:ip-addresses=172.16.0.0",
Cisco-Avpair = "atm:peak-cell-rate=155000",
Cisco-Avpair = "atm:sustainable-cell-rate=155000"
Hope to help

Number of PPPoE sessions on ISR/ASR routers
Hello,
I am working on a design wherein i need some inputs in terms of the number of PPPoE sessions that can be terminated on the ISR-G2 devices especially 3945/3945 E routers and also ASR1K routers
If there is any official cisco document on the same it would highly help
Also any recomendations on using the 3945s as broadband routers ???...
Regds,
SudhirHi,
I'm looking for the same document. For Cisco 10K, ASR1000 and also 7600.
I'm also interested if someone can share real experiance (not only on-paper number).
Thanks for your help.

Printing to a Deskjet 1000 from a terminal services session (2003) on my XP laptop.
The printer is a CH340-64001 and it works fine on an XP laptop. When an attempt is made to use it during a terminal services session it fails because Server 2003 does not have the drivers for the printer.
When I try to run the installation from the CD I get a message that the operating system is not compatible.
Is there any way to install the XP drivers to Server 2003 or does the printer need to be replaced with another model? There isn't a way, that I know of, to get the printer's XP drivers to work with Server 2008. However, there is an alternate driver that you can try using. It's the Deskjet 990c driver. It's a generic inkjet driver that works with most inkjet printers. It should work with the printer you're using. That's really the only thing I can think of that might work.

Can connect w/ PPPoE... but not route
Ok.. I've been working on this off an on for over a month and I have reached my end, I think.
Problem: I have a Linksys WRT54GL v1.1. My ISP (through cable, not DSL) requires a PPPoE connection. I can get the Router to successfully connect to the ISP and ping from the router... but I cannot get any traffic through the router to the internet. I've tried multiple devices, both wired and wireless. Below I have attached some screen shots.. hopefully someone smarter than I can spot my error.
PC's MAC address is cloned...
PPPoE connection established from the router...
I can PING the internet from the router...
I can PING the router from my PC...
But I can't ping the internet from my PC (through the router)...
Here is my network settings on the PC when attached to the router...
When I connect my PC directly to the modem, pppoe setup looks like this...
My network settings when directly attached to the modem...
And I can reach the internet when directly connected...
Any ideas?Try a traceroute:
traceroute 64.233.167.99
traceroute 10.40.0.1
traceroute 10.40.32.1
See how far you get.
Otherwise this problem is difficult to troubleshoot through a forum. Your setup so far looks fully correct. If you run a firewall on the computer it may cause the problem. But other then that troubleshooting now would require to do some packet sniffing to find out how far packets get and/or what happens to the responses. This may indicate where the real problem lies. But computer and router seem to be set up correctly.
Beyond that you could try a factory reset pressing the reset button for 30 seconds. If there is an issue with the router configuration making the router operate like in router mode although it displays gateway mode this may solve your problem. Of course you have to set up the router again.
There may be a firmware upgrade available from the linksys web site for your router which fixes this issue.
Or change the mode to router mode, save the settings. Then change it back to gateway mode. Save the settings again. Maybe this fixes an incorrect setting in the router. You have to use gateway mode. In router mode you'll need a full IP address subnet from your ISP. As long as you use private IP addresses in your LAN you must use gateway mode. -
Hi all,
As title, I have this question: why do we need a rdp session to take remote control of a terminal server session?
I copied tsadmin and related file to a windows 8.1 pc and I'm able to see for every terminal server the list of users logged in, but the option "take control" is greyed out... why? is not possible to avoid this block?
Thanks in advance
DavideHello, Davide_ita.
Also tried to use RDSM to "Remote Control" user's sessions, but in this thread
Remote Control
with Remote Desktop Services Manager - error Access is denied (Windows Server 2012 R2)
I get the recommendation to use RDP or Remote Assistance.
The quote of
TP []:
Hi,
You cannot remote control a session on a 2012 R2 RDSH server using Remote Desktop Services Manager. You need to use the RDP 8.1 mstsc.exe or the RDS gui in Server Manager on 2012 R2. The command you would use with the RDP 8.1 client would be
this:
mstsc /shadow:<sessionid> /control

2003 Terminal Server Session Directory Clustering
Hi everybody ;
I have question about clustering TS Session Directory Service.
In my environment I have four terminal server which running Windows Server 2003 R2. Now we bought two new servers and we are planning to use them for File Server with Windows Server 2008 R2. I installed Windows Server 2008 R2 to this new servers
and i configured them for file server and clustered this two server. But i want to cluster the my terminal servers session directory service in this cluster environment. My terminal server WS2003 but cluster environment is WS2008. Is there a problem about
this version difference ?
Thanks.i don't believe so. 2003 terminal services requires at least 2x 2003 servers with the session directory service running on them to be clustered in MSCS. 2008 has a whole new session directory which will not serve 2003 remote desktop hosts

http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/6/2/8624174c-8587-4a37-8722-00139613a5bc/TS_Session_Directory.doc
you may want to consider upgrading your old 2003 terminal server environment to 2008 though. -

Hi,
I think this can be done in Unix, using telnet, you may log into the
system and install it.

ASR9000 multiple PPPoE sessions
Hello all
We try to understand aspects of the behaviour of ASR9K for PPPoE sessions. Specifically we see that after retraining of xDSL CPEs (and for as long as the old session has not been timed out) subsequent PPPoE session initiation attempts from the CPE are denied with the following message
(debug pppoe packet)
pppoe_ma[375]: Packet: [ERROR] Bundle-Ether100.321: Session established cannot re-send PADS for duplicate PADR with host-uniq tag: No error
Does the ASR9K perform any checks based on host-uniq tag to avoid duplicate sessions from same CPE?
Some CPEs after retraining take care of their previous sessions (they clear them - send PADT after retraining) but some others do not for the latter we see this behavior
ThnxThis works for on the ASA, the device works as a PPPoE client:

Windows Terminal Server Session Directory
Anybody know when Session Directory will be supported?
We have a TS farm that uses session directory. Our Sun Rays with uttsc work fine and will redirect the users to their active session.
No such luck with SGD pointed at the farm. The user will open a new session and not get redirected to their existing session.
As one can imagine, this causes all sorts of problems when users leave their desks and then go home and can no longer access their existing session on the terminal server.Currently SGD does not support the Terminal Server Session Directory. It is however on the roadmap of SGD, but I don't know if it will be in the next release yet.

Pppoe connection failed. no route to host
Hi.
I'm using airport express for my wifi setup. I'm connected with no problems. The built in ethernet is NOT connected and has an idle status.
Every now and then, (I'm not sure what triggers it), I would get a popup window saying "PPPoE connection failed. No route to host."
Note that this would popup even though I am already currently surfing the net and the airport wifi connection is NOT dropped or reset.
I suspect that this is being triggered by the built in ethernet. Before I switched over to the airport express, I've never encountered this popup.
Is there some setting I need to configure so that I no longer get this false error message?

Migrate PPPoE/Virtual-Interface from 7206VXR to ASR 1002
Good Day,
I have been attempting to migrate services from an existing 7206VXR to a recently purchased ASR1002 and could use some help.
My mistake in assuming that the config would be similar to 7206VXR, but there are changes - mainly VRF and cisco-avpair attributes that need added to radius.
Our lab test, with the below ASR config will allow the user to authenticate successfully but does not assign IP address.

No doubt the problem is something simple I appreciate any help or suggestions.

"...client is not getting IP address even though the sessions seems to be up. Is this correct?" Correct.
What I am seeing and suspecting is the problem has to do with 'ip:ip-unnumbered=interface'.
Trying with the ip:ip-unnumbered=Loopback111 or GigabitEthernet0/0/3.111 (for testing) debugging reports "Session creation failed due to full virtual-access interfaces not being supported...", as soon as the attribute is removed in radius the client authenticates but does not get an IP address. I would rather not use Loopback if possible.
GE0/0/3.111 is basically the client egress and GE0/0/2.20 is the ingress/router gateway
Also seeing this debug message, "...Unable to add line attributes from ANCP ... Unable to Add ANCP Line attributes to the PPPoE Authen attributes" which may or may not relate to ip-unnumbered attribute.
I hope the information isn't too much or confusing, sure appreciate the help.
debugging with ip:vrf-id=CV_VRF w/o ip:ip-unnumbered
