So, why can't we discuss "jailbreaks" on the forum?

This is something that bothers me in the iOS forums (iPad, AppleTV, iPhone, iPod touch), as any references to jailbreaks typically spawn the "do not discuss jailbreaking, as it voids the ToS of this forum".
The italicized part is what bothers me, because I cannot find any proof of this in the Apple ToS, and any link provided from the ToS, including Apple Legal. I am aware of the support article about 'unauthorized modifications', but that isn't part of ToS.
Am I wrong?
Obviously, jailbreaking is not a DRM issue since the exploits are already there.
If my memory serves me correctly, it was at one point forbidden to talk about 'jailbreaks' and other iOS mods, but I believe with the Feb. 18th, 2012 update, this has changed.
Hopefully one of you can help me.

This is my interpretation, but the terms state:
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise 'work around' digital rights management software or hardware.
Jailbreaking involves breaking Apple's rights management on iOS and hence will not be allowed in Apple's forums.
I can only guess as to what rationale the Hosts indeed use, but that quote would seem to provide sufficient justfication for such warnings and for the Hosts to remove offending posts, though the terms also say that Apple reserves the right to remove any post at any time for any reason so they do not require an explicit statement in the ToS on the subject.

I have been trying to upgrade my iPad 2, v4.3.5 since the 5.0 versions were released. I have spend way too much time trying to upgrade so I can enjoy apps which require the newer version. I have read so many comments about others having the same problem

Every time I start the download process in iTunes, it stalls and nothing happens. I've tried restoring, and I've followed and tried all of Apple's instructions and directions but it still doesn't work. I do not see this specific problem addressed by Apple anywhere. After reading the posts in this community, I am sure that the problem does not lie within only my iPad. If that is the case, why is there no answer on how to fix this problem. I am at my wit's end and would appreciate any ideas...although I've tried fooling with DNS numbers, fooling with the wifi, turning it off and on, creating a new iTunes account and downloading from that account. I've read about jailbreak software but my version isn't covered yet. HELP!!!

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

Why do I have to activate CC every few weeks and repeatedly have to accept the license terms?

It seems like I have to accept the license terms about once per week for CC applications and every few weeks I'm asked to activate the software yet again. I suspect that this is not normal.
This is a Windows 8.1, 64-bit system.

Basic knowledge about Sap Netweaver, Web As, Web Dynpro

Hi guys,
I am a new nut guy trying to understand Sap NetWeaver. Could you guys explain to me just briefly in the most simplest ordinary terms about points below. I tried to read documentations but do not understand completely.
1) What is Sap NetWeaver? Does it comes with several components?
2) What is Web AS?? what does it serve?
3) I heard about Web Dynpro for Java and Web Dynpro for Abap. They are used to develop Web applications in Java language and the other in Abap language. I'm interested just on knowing the Java side.
I just want to understand the hardware systtem achitecture and associated software to be installed.
Now for Java, I heard that we need to install Web Developper Studio, rite?? then which version should I install, Sap Netweaver SP16 or Sap Neweaver 2004 or Sap Netweaver 2004s?? where can i find it?? should it be installed in front end station? do i need Java?
Now for Web AS, where do i install it??

Hi Ralph, I will try to keep it simple.

1) What is Sap NetWeaver? Does it comes with several components?

SAP Netweaver is the platform in which all SAP software runs on top of. For example R/3 ran on the "Basis" layer, this is simular in ECC6.0, where ECC is the R/3 part and Netweaver(ABAP stack) is the "Basis" Layer. With Netweaver you get two stacks, ABAP and Java. SAP components run on one or the other. Netweaver includes, but is not limited to:
Netweaver Application Server(formerly called WebAS)
Netweaver Portal(formerly called EP)
Netweaver XI(I think there is a new name for this)
etc.

2) What is Web AS?? what does it serve?

WebAS is now called Netweaver Application Server, this is the basis for all applications, whether ABAP or java based. For example the ECC(R/3 component) runs on the ABAP stack of Netweaver Application Server, the Netweaver Portal runs on the Java stack of NW Application Server.

3) I heard about Web Dynpro for Java and Web Dynpro for Abap. They are used to develop Web applications in Java language and the other in Abap language. I'm interested just on knowing the Java side.

For the java side, you develop the webdynpro applications locally on your laptop using NWDS(Netweaver Developer Studio) and then deploy this application to the Netweaver Application Server(java stack). You can then implement the application into an iView in the NW Portal.

Which NWDS to install depends on the version of the java engine in which you are working with. The rule is that you keep the version of NWDS in sync with the version of the Netweaver Application Server(java engine). Usually the NW AS, is intalled on a standalone server(not your laptop), but you can install sneak preview editions on your laptop for testing .

Only if they are suitable. There will be some kind of process to ensure that the platform is not compromised by malicious software, that could cause damage to data or compromise personal information.

It will probably turn into an unusable brick, but that is the risk that you run if you jailbreak your phone rather than having it officially unlocked.
Talk about jailbreaking is prohibited in these forums and is not supported by Apple.

I Use iMovie a lot and the iPads great but would love the ease of editing with a mouse, I saw the videos for jbking and installing a mouse, so should I?

That said, this question comes up a couple of times a year. iPad and iMovie are designed as for touch and they are exceptionally elegant in that use. I simply don't understand why people want to much it up with a mouse.

App World Error 40017 when trying to purchase apps

Hi everyone,
Whenever i try to purchase something in App World i get the Error-id 40017
What's this all about.
I've spent alot of cash on my Blackberry and would like to be able to make use of everything that is offered, including the paid apps in App World.
My provider says they cannot help me with this, so here i am.
I'm a pre-paid user and have been told that any purchase would be deducted from my current credit.
I haven't been able to purchase anything yet, although it's costing me alot of money trying to contact either my provider or blackberry support as there is none.
Is anyone having the same problem?
Is there anyone from Blackberry Support willing to help me out with this, since i already have the free stuff i wanted, not being able to purchase apps makes it uninteresting for me.
Also i'd like to see an easier way to get support for blackberry smartphones, instead of just the selfhelp sections.
Sometimes people need live support for their problems.
For Playbook and Enterprise services there are phonenumbers so why not for smartphones and app world?
People keep telling me to jailbreak the **bleep** thing, but i'm not familiar with that. I'd rather find a sollution the easy/normal way.

There is no such term as "jailbreak" with BlackBerrys. Jailbreak is term the kiddies use with Apple products.
What you might want to do is to simply "unlock" your 9860 for use on other carriers, should ever choose to use this same 9860 on a mobile provider other than Tmobile. See my link below on details on unlocking.

If Tmobile is your contracted carrier, you are currently paying TMobile for live telephone technical support.
If you're a pre-paid customer, you should get the same support, and if Tmobile says they cannot help you, that normally means you've gotten someone on the phone who has no idea what they're saying. Ask for a supervisor. Any issue which Tmobile cannot resolve, they should escalate up to BlackBerry technical support.

My Iphone 3gs safari keeps crashing

I bought this Iphone 3gs recently. The seller had jailbroken it and had been using it for with other sim card whereas, it is meant to be for At&T. I know nothing about jailbreak etc. But after much efforts, I was able to restore the phone to work with AT&T Network user H2O wireless. My problem is that Safari, Mail and calander donot work. It opens, stays there for 1-4 seconds and then close back. I have tried to reset all settings from general button. I also clicked home and off button to reset it that way. but it just doesnot work. I was able to install chrome and it works just fine. Please help is there anyway I could get safari, mail and calander back working? Or if there any app that could help override safari so every link opens in chrome as default. I am using IOS 6.1.6 that automatically updated on my Iphone 3gs

That is what happens when you buy a jailbroken phone. If you restore the phone, you will run into all kinds of problems as you have found to your cost.
Because the phone has been jailbroken and you have restored it, then there is probably nothing that you can do.
Ditch the phone and buy a new one, or give it back to the person that you bought it off and get a refund.
Remember that the iPhone 3gs is an old phone now in technology terms and you should perahps consider buying something newer, such as an iPhone 4s instead.
Either this or you keep it and use it as an iPod instead of a phone. Because the phone has been jailbroken, you might just have a useless brick.

I won't lie, I jailbroke my iPod Touck 4G 5.1.1 and I really want to unjailbreak it, but when I try to restore it, it says "The iPod software update server could not be contacted. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later." What do I do? I really need help!!!!
