Hi,
my father will buy a apple Dev account, but he will see the terms of youse in german, for the iOS Center.
Is there any document, with the terms of youse etc?

Linking Subprojects

Hi all,
for our project I ran into an ugly bit of a problem.
So far I have been managing our programm in one single project file, using MS Project 2010. We are now asked by our customer to split it into several subprojects (project milestones, procurement, manufacturing...). Now I took the project files and copied
all tasks into separate mpp files, then created a "Master Project File" that has all others as Subprojects. No problem so far.
Now I have to implement the links between the subprojects (and there are MANY of them). The first thing I tried was linking them by the procedure that was explained here (selecting both tasks and click the "Insert Link" button). While this works
in principal, it leads to some problems (the reason for this post):
The link information is absolute, i.e. with full path name. As I work on a network, it addes the complete server path name.
OK, this practically is the Problem ;-)
The results of this are:
The readability of the links tend to zero. Before, I saw that a task had the predecessory 2, 5 and 8 (example), now I have the whole path in it
If I try to send the .mpp files to our customer, he has to put it to the exact same location (even renaming his servers) to open the project.
Now my question:
Is there any way to implement relative links for the followers / predecessory of a task in an external project file? All files will be in one folder, so it would be easy.
Or can I link tasks to something else that the tasks ID?
Sorry if I got some terms wrong, using the german version of Project ;-)

I know there are people who have poor experience with linked files and moving them; but (knock on wood), we do the following and it seems to work without "corruption". Project doesn't get confused about where files are since as far as it is concerned there
is no change regardless of the computer the files are sitting on. But beware, I guess, is all I can say.
What I do is declare space on the c: drive as the "standard" location for all files. for example, c:\data\projects\ProjectNameHere\. We put all file into that folder for anyone who works on the files. It's a rule. It's a simple rule which we
find that those who know how to drive Project know why that rule needed and they easily just do it. We also create a special startup icon for Project which sits on the desktop and we set the "start in" folder to be that folder. When
Project launches with that "start-in" set right, it finds all the files just fine. Right mouse click on the properties of the start-up icon to get access to this setting for the icon.
And added benefit of this approach is that you also can put in a standard project global.mpt file in that folder and when Project launches it uses *that* global.mpt (as it's the first place Project looks). Easier to handle one global.mpt for each project
than to try to have one global.mpt meet the needs of multiple projects with multiple people. It helps the collaboration on the project.
You want to use file servers which of course will have different full path file names. I ran a quick test with Project 2010 where I created three files and linked them into one master. I did a few cross project links. Yes, the full path to the
c: drive location (a subfolder under "My Projects" is how it was recored in Project. Then I moved all four files to a completely different location on the file server (\\fileserver\filesharename\foldername\). I put the full path to the file server
in the "start-in" for the icon that launches Project (\\fileserver\filesharename\foldername) and launched project. Then opened the master project and Project see's the linked files in the "new" location with the full path of the file server shown. I
suspect this is because of the user of the "start-in" and rules inside Project to say "look in the current directory first".
My hunch is that this will work for you too. The trick seems to be to set the "start-in" folder in the Project desktop icon. We've used this start-in "trick" since Windows 3.1 days.
What we really now do is actually keep all the MPP files in a SharePoint library for reasons security and version control. We check them out to the prescribed folder (see above) and work on them from there. When done, check back into SharePoint. Works
(knock on wood).
I don't have a suggestion to make the ID's on the predecessors shorter. The fact is that now it is not good enough to say "1" for the task ID of the predecessor as there are now many tasks with ID "1" in the master file. Project has no option but to
show it. Would be nice if it just gave the file name, but then that also might not be good enough. I just ignore the long name and look at the Gant Chart lines. When important to look at it, I just widen the column and look. There might be
another field to show, or perhaps you can do a computed field to created a shortened way to denote the subproject. Experiment, I guess.

Print with Adobe PDF printer driver from Word: Stripes in images

I use Acrobat 8 Professional (Version 8.1.3) on Windows XP SP3 (german version). I'd like to create a PDF out of a Word document by printing with the "Adobe PDF" printer driver. I have a problem with an image containing large unicolored areas: In the PDF there are recognizeable stripes in the colors of the image. This is when viewing the PDF with Acrobat 8 Professiona, when importing a page containung such an image into Photoshop, and when printing such an image.
The image is an RGB TIF, but I tried it with a CMYK TIF as well as with an RGB BMP. The reault - when printed out of Word - is the same. If I print the same image to a PDF from InDesign, then everything is fine, no stripes.
Does anybody know how to optimize this?

Sorry, I should have mentioned this, of course. Well the document is a DOC (because it was prepared by co-workers with Word 2003). I use Word 2007, when I opened the DOC Word switched to "compatability mode" (not sure about the exact English term, I work with German versions). But even when saving the document under a new name, I kept it as a DOC, so my co-workers would be able to open it again at their computers with Word 2003.
My Acrobat is already version 8.1.6 and because I always install Windows Updates that the automatic update service offers, I guess my Word 2007 is also up to date.
But sure, if I can be of any other help, let me know...

One cc complete and one photographer membership, but cannot install on 3 machines i own...!

i have a problem installing my packs on 3 machines. please advise.
i Have one cc complete membership and bought a photographer membership with the same adobe id thinking i could use lightroom and photoshop on a third machine while shooting in the studio but i cannot.
any ideas on how to do that?

Preview on/off of all (changed) settings

Hi all!
On the upper right corner of my processed image I find the possibility to switch on / off the preview of the changes that will be applied on the image when I develop it. How can I switch on/off all changes and not only the one current mode (Base settings, curve, details, etc.)

Hi Dennis,
where can I find that "Presets tab" ?! I`d like to to have a solution which doesn´t force my attention to the mouse arrow in order to toggle between Snapshot 1 and 2. So a simple checkbox like "Preview" is way better to keep the eyes on the image. But I don't know where to find that tab!

Mac mini would no longer start at the scheduled time

hi,
since about a week or so, my mac mini no longer automatically starts at the time i've scheduled [which can be specified under "energy saving" (?*) in "system preferences" (?*)]
but so far it does power up "manually" after presing the power butten several times.
any ideas on what could be wrong here?
*sorry if i might not be using the correct english terms, since i'm not using an english version of os x 10.4.7, but german os x. (neither is english my first language).
btw: if anyone knows of a (free, easily available) source (such as an english manual of os x tiger) where i could find the english equivalents for the terms used in the german version of the os - pls lemme know!

6600GT: too low FPS in UT2004

Hi,
I now played UT2004 Onslaught to test my 1 week old MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP 8x and I get about 60FPS in 800x600@32. Sometimes, when there is more action FPS get down to ~35!
Seems to be too low...?
The latest NVidia driver is installed. I turned anti-aliasing as well as anisotropic filtering off. System performance (don't know the exact english term, I have a german installation - it's here the 3rd item in the NVidia configuration tool) is set to "Performance".
UT2004 settings:
Texture Detail: Normal
Character Detail: Lower
World Detail: Normal
Physics Detail: Low
Dynamic Mesh LOD: Normal
Decal Stay: Normal
Character Shadow: None
x Decals
x Dynamic Lighting
x Coronas
x Projectors
x Wheater Effects
Fog Distance: 0
I also ran DriverCleaner but the low FPS remain...

To make sure that thar actually is a performance loss, do the benchmark in UT2004 and compare the results to this chart:

I'm no nVidia expert, but I gues your results should be about the same as a FX5900XT.

Organize XFCE panel !

Hi,
It seems very stupid but I really can't organize my XFCE panel how I want to... My top panel takes all the width of my screen and all the elements are stuck on the left whereas I would like only launchers on the left with XFCE menu and the time with systray on the right.
But when I try to move the elements to the right, they immediately come back to the left (they are not locked) !
I hope my explanation is clear ... If you could help me...

Right-click the panel and add a new object. Choose a spacer (I hope that's the right term, my Xfce is German), let it expand and place systray and clock right to it.

German terms under "Kind" column in Find window

Under the "Kind" column in the Find window (not Spotlight), I see the following terms: "Dokument," JPEG-Bild," "Reiner Text." These all sound German to me & I have no problem with that. Is there some special reason for using these German terms instead of English? "Bild" I know means "picture" in German. What's "Reiner Text"? Anyone know?

Afterwards I tried again to install 6.0 - without success. Can anybody help?

Meanwhile I solved the problem as follows: I searched for "dreamweaver" everywhere an deleted everything I could find. Then I searched for "CS6" and did the same. I guess there were around 20 or more places where I deleted directorys or files. Suddenly the installation did not stop at 2 % what it always did before and the installation was a success :-) It cost me more than 4 hours to figure that out and I did not find a really helping hint somewhere. Adobe itself I could not contact because I could not find an email adress or a phone number - poor support for such an expensive software. For luck I did not have to deliver something just in time. Lacking a useful support is a really poor, poor attitude of Adobe... I think I will not buy anymore Adobe products - it could cost too much of my time... :-(

Multilingual terms in Refiner - Not working in SP 2013

I have configured the terms in English as well as in German in MMS terms store. And I could successfully map English as well as German terms in my document library items based on the language setting (english or german) in my browser.
However in the refiner web part in search canter, always its showing in English (default one). In search canter, I have selected the alternate language as german via language settings and the browser default locale is German. Still my refiners are showing
in English(Expecting the refiners to be in German language at this context). i have done full crawl after creating German terms
Could you please share your helpful thoughts?

I have identified that the OOB refiners wont support multilingual refiners. there are certain products available in the market which does this. However I have tried other custom solutions and concluded that using SPService we can get the refiners in multilingual
by passing the corresponding langugae id..a sample code snippet below...

Is it possible to get apple terms and agreements in english only?

Hi Everyone,
I am English and currently live in Germany , That aside as I not here to tell you my life story!!! Anyhow recently recieved some updates for my Iphone so thought I would download them via Itunes . Plugged phone into computer fired up I tunes and pressed the update all apps. A new terms and conditions message screen pops up . Now previously this was in English now its in German , therefore the question is :is there any way I can set the language settings to avoid this in the future ( can get by in Normal German but Legalese German is a whole new language I have no desire to learn)
So suggestions as to how I may or be able to resolve this issue would be most appreciated.
