Terratec Phase 26 USB - No MIDI (Audio OK)

Hi all,
I am experiencing some trouble setting up an external Terratec Phase 26 USB audio interface. Audio drivers (terratec Phase 26 USB ASIO / Core Audio) are detected and configured automaticly and work fine in all supported modes.
The problem is that MIDI is not recogniced and there are no up to date drivers for the product as it has been discontinued. In windows machines they are recognised as Phase 26 USB (MIDI).
Anyone having same problem and possible solutions, beta version drivers or some ideas that can help me make MIDI work for this device on Mac OSX Lion?
Thanks in advance!
Cósimo

The Terratec phase 26 has seperate firmware for Mac. You need to flash the Terratec with the right firmware. You can find it on the original CD or you can download it from: https://db.tt/9sbwHwUp
I have flashed the Terratec from windows XP. It should also work from windows 7.
Read the manual to find out how to flash the Terratec. You need to get it in firmware upgrade mode.

  • M-Audio USB Keyboard - MIDI?

    Hi folks!
Since I bought Garage Band almost a year ago, I´ve been using a USB keyboard (M-Audio Keystation USB) who´s functioned quite good in that application.
Today, I upgraded to Logic Ex 7 and halfway through the manual the next step is recording via the connected Audio/MIDI device. Now my USB keyboard won´t generate sound (at least not that I can hear).
My question is: How do I configure my USB keyboard to work with Logic? Or, eventually, do I have to obtain a MIDI keyboard in order to record in Logic? (And will I have better results if I connect to my pre-amp?)

I don't know if "hassle-free" is the right term - once you set up Logic and Audio MIDI Setup properly, you should have no problems. I wouldn't say Logic is as plug-and-play as GB. As Brad says, the MIDI instruments seem to confuse a lot of new users. They see a Grand Piano and think it'll work just like in GB, but it's not the same thing. Those instruments send MIDI out to external sound modules and keyboards (or other applications). To use Logic's internal instruments, you need to set up an Audio Instrument channel, not a MIDI instrument. As soon as you do it once, though, you're home free.
Keith, I'm not sure why you get that glitch in GB - what keyboard are you using?

  • Hi i upgrade from lion to mountain lion to day on my mini mac,Since the upgrade i am getting no sound through my HDMI cable which was working fine on lion Checked the midi audio settings and system preferences to out on HDMi nothing no sound whats so ever

Hi i upgraded from lion to mountain lion to day on my mini mac,Since the upgrade i am no longer getting sound through my HDMI cable which was working fine on lion Checked the midi audio settings and system preferences to out on HDMi nothing no sound whats so ever.Any one any ideas?
I use a samsung TV for my monitor via HDMI.Tried all the system Audi setting nothing .Head phone and internal speakers are fine.

Similar issue; Audio was working fine on Lion, now not on Mountain Lion. Have a Macbook Pro early 2011 with AMD Radeon HD 6750M, connected by thunderbolt through a Lacie LBD to a mini-displayport to HDMI adapter (n.b. same problem when not going through the LBD) to a Pioneer VSX 521 AV receiver. For me when I go into audio Midi settings all the volume sliders for the displayport device are greyed out and at zero. But when I click 'configure speakers', it's able to send out the test signals to each speaker. Part of the problem could be that I'm not getting the option to put out 6channel sound, only 2 or 8 channel. Since my system is Dolby 5.1, and I only have 6 speakers, I would have expected the 6ch option to be available. But I imagine there's more to it than that. Elsewhere someone has suggested playing with Remote Interactive over HD on an Onkyo device; I'll see if there's something similar on the Pioneer that can be changed. Any other suggestions welcome.

  • Focusrite USB 2.0 Audio Driver Scarlett 2i2 in Premiere CC2014 not working

    Hi everybody.
I just recently upgraded to CC and cannot use my Audio Interface with it.
    Info:
    i7
    Windows 7 Ultimate
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, drivers up to date
Premiere Pro CC 2014 up do date
    GeForce GTX Titan
In CS6 i have set the audio hardware to Focusrite USB 2.0 Audio Driver.
    ASIO Settings:
    Buffer length 10
    In Latency is 19,6
    Out latency is 28,9
    Sample Rate 48000
...and it works like a charm.
In CC 2014 however, i can only use Premiere WDM sound.
If i choose the Focusrite, my sequence won't play. I can still scrub but with no audio.
    Also recording does not work.
I often have to punch in layout-voiceovers for timing and need this to work, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
    thank you all!

Premiere Pro is not the best with USB audio.  Sometime it works, often it doesn't.  My recommendation is to skip any type of USB audio and only use real audio connections.
    Thank you for your input.
I am using this setup in CS6 and it works great but could not get it to work with CC. So i can't just settle with "skip any type of USB audio".
    Anyway, i figured it out:
I chose Premiere Pro WDM sound instead of the scarlett and in the ASIO settings chose the Scralett as input. works just how it's supposed to now.

  • Terratec dmx 6fire usb doesn't work on my mb pro 13 i5 2011 please help!

After installation driver of my soundcard terratec dmx 6fire usb on my mb soundcard doesn't work. But on mb pro 15' i5 2010 it's work's good. I think the problem is in the new sandy bridge chipset. If anybody have same equipment please help.

Thank to Terratec support for Help. My problem is solved. Now i can mixing with my soundcard terratec 6fire usb. Sound is good!
Answer of support terratec:is your Mac OS working in 32 bit or 64 bit mode ? The DMX 6Fire just work on
    32 bit..
Normaly this can be the only reason, when you say, that the device works on
    another Mac system without problems.
Also with the installation there is nothing you can do wrong. The device
must work, when you just have connected it via USB to the Mac. The DMX 6Fire
USB software is just installing the additional ControlPanel for the DMX.
All new macbook pro works at 64 bit mode at default. I change mode to 32 bit of my macbook pro type command in terminal :sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture i386.
Nowi work in 32 bit mode and my soundcard works too Thank you for Help terratec support

  • My midi/audio interface Edirol PCR 1  won't work with Yosemite and Roland have no driver update. Is this the end of the line for this device.

My midi/audio interface ( Edirol PCR1) will not interface with Yosemite 10.10 and Roland have no driver update, is there any fix for the problem or is the end of the line for this device.

Same problem here, what a shame as this has been my favorite portable keyboard for ages. Whenever I see one in a store(very rarely) I'll grab it.

  • Lenovo USB 2.0 Audio Microphone doesn't work on my new B510 with Win7 purchased last month

Today is the first time I tried to use the lenovo USB 2.0 audio microphone in my new B510 to do audio chat. The messenger sofware I used didn't hear anything from the mic but can display my Video.
I reinstalled and updated the divers of Audio,  USB 2.0 Cam, and HD Audio Manager from Lenovo Suport and Realtek website, and checked "Sound" panel of recording devices. lenovo USB 2.0 audio is the default device and default communication device, Realtek HD Audio is "Not Plugged In", stereo mix is "ready", and all devices are working properly. I also checked Lenovo HD Audio Manager panel. There recording volume is the maximum and stereo mix is not recording device.  I opened Device Manager panel. no color mark is on any audio device. My computer was restarted several times during those above adjustments. But the mic is still not working. I didn't record any sound in the Sound Recorder in the Accessories folder of win7.
    Please help me!
Also, does anyone know how to mute the beeping sound of buttons on the screen of B510? Every time I hit those buttons to adjust sound volume or to turn off the light for keyboard, the sharp beeping sound comes out. It quite bothers other people staying in the same room.
    Thank you!!

    hey Killthebeeping,
if you have the USB Mic connected kindly remove it first then uninstall the audio drivers for your B510.
let windows install its generic driver.
once done plugin your usb mic and test it again.

  • PrPro...Soundbooth,AfterEffects also applies: BOSE Companion 5 USB speakers - No audio input!

Several things at play with this audio setup on an Intel board 2.8GHz HT CPU, 4(6)GB ram running Window Vista Ultimate but with respect to USB speakers and stereo mix input, Vegas odds are ... ain't gonna happen.
None of the Adobe audio manipulation front-ends will record audio from stereo mix as it stands in Vista. There is a native Intel package called IDTAudio which stands alone as the Windows hardware audio proxy and it enumerates system devices found on Intel's board. That is, the front & back jacks, etc.
But BOSE USB speakers are independant 5.1 sound simulators and present no venue as far as input for Adobe.
    Please advise:
Is there any way BOSE USB speakers and audio generated by the Intel hardware can be routed through any Adobe product (Premiere Pro, Soundbooth, AfterEffects)
(Note: disabling USB speakers in windows sound and enabling all other board audio input&output devices will activate Adobe inputs in each of the above apps and recording can be done; but without monitor capabilities. The recordings can be played back after reenabling USB speakers & redisabling the default audio output devices.
Not the end of the story though:
Any audio recorded [then played back ... on the same system (sp?)] is RICHLY & DEEPLY reverb/echo altered.
    Thanks in advance!

I ended up doing a format and clean install of my hdd, and did not update garageband, I will try this, thanks

  • Getting GB started - Midi Audio error

I'm getting the -possible conflict, midi audio device- type error on starting GB. I've googled lots of ideas on fixing this but nothing has helped so far. I'm installing on a 933 G4 that has had Pro Tools HD installed, but is now thoroughly removed. And I've tried moving/removing anything else music/midi related but still to no avail, plus the usual repairing permissions etc.
Are there any reliable answers to this kind of problem. Any ideas welcome. Very keen to try out GB!

GB has detected a possible conflict between one or more third party midi or audio drivers-Possible solution:
    Hello fellow Applelonians:
I see that a lot of you are having a problem opening Garageband. You may want to try these steps listed below.
1.Click Finder > Applications> Utilities. Click the Utilities to open it.
2.Go to the bottom of the directory and locate “Disk Utility” and double click it.
3.If you have more than 1 hard drive on your system, select the primary one or the disk that Garageband is loaded on.
    4.Now click “Verify Disk Permissions”.
5.Two messages should display and they are:
    - Verify permissions for Macintosh HD (or the name of your hard disk will display
    here...).
    - Permissions verification complete. The privileges have been verified or repaired
    on the selected volume.
6.Now this part is complete and for now minimize the size.
7.Go back to the Utilities directory (Step #1) and this time double click “Audio Midi Setup”.
8.The “Audio Midi Setup window opens.
    9.Verify the following:
    - System Settings:
Default Input is set as Built-in Audio
Default Output is set as Built-in Audio
System Output is set as Built-in Audio
    Properties For: Built-in Audio
    Clock Source: Internal Clock
Now go to the “Audio Input” section:
    Format: 44100.0Hz 2ch-16 bit
Move the Volume Slider to your personal preference.
Now go to the “Audio Output” section:
Source – this would be your own personal choice
    Format: 44100.0Hz 2ch-16 bit
    10. Now go to the top of the window and click the “Midi Devices” tab.
    11. Click “Audio” and a drop down option called “Open Aggregate Device Editor” should display.
    12.Open it.
13.Check boxes should display. Select all of them and then close the window.
    14.Now open Garageband.
Let me know if this worked for you. Now you should know that our setup is most likely more advanced then what you have, so your individual results may vary. Also, if this process doesn't work for you the first time and please don't panic! Go to the link below, download “Soundflower”, reboot and try the steps again.

  • Recommend midi/audio interface

I am just getting back into home recording and have the following setup:
    Mackie 1604VLZpro mixer
    Akai S5000
    Various keyboards
    Effects.
    Guitars
    Vocal mic
I want to purchase a suitable midi/audio interface to work with my G5 DP1.8 / OSX 10.3.9. I am thinking of buying Logic express or pro, haven’t decided yet.
Can anyone recommend a suitable interface that would work well with my setup.
Could the audio, guitars and vocals, be routed back through my mixer independently once recorded into logic?
    Cheers
    Rob

Check on the Alesis io14 or io26 -- I read all the forums and this one is coming up as the best, especially at the price. Also recommended by my pro audio guru friend (not a salesperson). I bought it and it worked immediately with my MacBook Pro.....for both audio and MIDI. It's in your price range, and believe me the io26, in particular, is a lot of high-end audio for the money. It's light, compact, but most of all it has some of the best components and construction you can buy.
The following link is to a Harmony Central pro review of the io26. Review is located at http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1562285
It's a long thread, dating back to its introduction in March, 07, and there is some discussion of early problems with certain computers and sequencing software. If you read through the entire thread you'll see they were resolved and that the reviews are very, very positive---especially the pro audio review by the Harmony Central reviewer.

  • USB 3.0 audio interface and MIDI controller

I´ve got the Macbook Pro Retina (2012) with only USB 3.0 ports. Today, i learned that no audio interface beneeth xxxx$ is compatible with this standard, and will only work with USB 2.0. I´ve also got Thunderbolt ports, but those audio interfaces are just as expencive and far out of my league. Same goes for MIDI controllers.
Is there any way to come around this problem? There seems to be a lack of information regarding this issue around the internet. I want to buy the Balance audio interface for Propellerheads Reason, but I get the feeling it´s not going to work (at least thats what the guy at the local store told me).
USB 2.0 hubs are also not going to work, as far as I know. Any ideas?

    Okay everyone,
As I wasn't able to solve the problem myself, I decided to replace my old interface for a brand new one. The problem clearly was the age of the old interface.
In a particular music store I was allowed to test four individual USB audio interfaces that worked perfectly on both 10.9 and W7.
For those interested, I now use a Roland Quad-Capture (UA-55) which has great preamps!

  • Using an old MBox (by DigiDesign/Avid with USB) as an audio interface.

    Hello,
I've been using my old iMac (2004 vintage, running OS X10.4) for years to make my (guitar) music recordings, using an older version of ProTools as software and an MBox (DigiDesign/Avid) as the audio interface.
Now that I have a new MB Pro running the latest OS X, I'm contemplating upgrading my recording platform to this latest version of Logic Pro X. It seems like the right way to go and the software appears to be loaded with all the right features.
But, I would like to keep my old MBox as the audio interface. It's a very solid, 2 input unit and plenty versatile enough for my guitar recording needs. It also provides phantom power for my condenser mics. (Something that the Symphony I/O unit from Apogee lacks in spite of its high price).
This early version of MBox has a USB 2.0 interface which would be compatible with my Thunderbolt ports, and plenty fast enough for audio transmission.
    QUestion:
Do you envision any compatibility issues with this MBox as an Audio Interface unit when working with this latest Logic Pro X software? Anything to watch out for?
Ultimately I want to avoid having to get a new interface just because of the software change from Pro Tools to Logic X, especially since it's been so good and reliable to me, and still works great.
Many thanks in advance for any hints, comments and insights!
    Andre

Here is a little update to to my ongoing Mbox driver quest.
I downloaded the drivers (as stated on the Avid site: Last Updated : July 9, 2013) for my legacy FW interface (Mbox 2 Pro) from here:
    http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/download/en379411
Installed the drivers, no interface attached to my computer. After the re-start I connected the Mbox and it was recognized in Audio MIDI Setup without any fuzz. Then I started Logic 9 and sure enough after taking a brief moment to evaluate MIDI drivers the whole OS crashed on me in a very severe way:

But this was no surprise at all! After rebooting and repairing disk permissions I gave ProTools 9 a try and… in all its glory there it was. Now, encouraged by this success, I firmly double-clicked the LX icon and lo and behold, without a hitch! After that Logic 9 also without any complaints. This has made my day after all!
May I draw your attention to the fact that I didn't took any action to mend anything (except permission repair). So what has happened, I ask myself? Has the ML OS the power to heal itself? I'm truly puzzled.
Until further notice: on this MacPro, this Mbox 2 Pro is supported by ML and LX!
BTW, if you care to choose MOTU hardware to work on, you will not regret it I'm sure. They have never ever left me standing in the cold, driver-wise or support-wise! Two things I can not say about Apogee, Avid/Digi and some more starting with the letter A ……
    Good luck!
