Terrible data bleed on iphone 5/ATT the last two months

I have an iphone 5 and it has always been very easy to manage my data.  The last two months my data usage has DOUBLED for no apparent reason.
I shut the phone down at night, and also turn off wifi/cellular data before shutting it down.  I've even resorted to putting it in airplane mode also once I noticed this trend.
The increased data numbers seem to be primarily coming from:
MAPPING SERVICES (which I am not using/is disabled on all settings!)
and
ITUNES (also not using/disabled on all settings)
I have everything disabled on this phone to the point of it pretty much being a "dumb phone" now.  I use wifi almost all day and have cellular data shut down.
I spent an hour on the phone with ATT the other night and they are "investigating".
There is no reason my data usage should be doubling suddenly, when my habits and settings have not changed.
Anyone else seeing this?  I am ready to dump this phone.

It sounds like you are seeing some extremely high data usage all of a sudden on your phone, even though you disable cellular and even Wi-Fi regularly when not in use. Excessive data usage can be hard to troubleshoot, but lets see what we can do. I would start with the basics, because since it popped up so suddenly. Quit all the running apps first:
iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If the issue persists, use the following article to troubleshoot the cellular data connection starting at step 3, working your way down from there.

This will lead you to a resolution if this is a software issue, which it seems to me to be.

    If you don't have access to the computers to manually deauthorize them (they were sold, stolen, etc), then you have to log into your account, deauthorize all computers, and then re-authorize the machine(s) that you want to have access. This page explains how.

    So let me get this straight: If I can't browse the web or do anything while my iPhone 5 is set at 4G LTE, I have to switch it to 3G? I thought Verizon had the fastest and best service coverage? I used to agree with this statement up until about 4 months ago, when I can no longer use the data on my phone (and dropped calls at times) while I'm at work. I work in a building attached to a mall in Michigan City, Indiana. Several of my co-workers who do NOT have Verizon, can surf the web all day long at amazing speed, while I sit and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and then.....nothing.
    Has something changed within the last 4 months with Verizon? I have seen others make reference to that time frame as well.

    To check on a service problem contact VZW tech support at 1800-988-0204.  Mention the symptoms as you see them for your devices and ask if there are any issues in your area.
    To better help you analyze the problem try using signal strength numbers like RSSI and perform a site survey of your area.  You can also compare your RSSI numbers with a performance test from http://speedtest.net from your MiFi.  The combined RSSI and stats from speedtest should help them evaluate your area and get a technician to check it out.

    Be prepared to perform a SIM card reset or two while troubleshooting with VZW.  Most of the time when dealing with performance problems a SIM card reset is the first line of defense.  SIM cards are the pieces responsible for communicating with the towers in your area.  Since you have two different devices able to reproduce the problem you should be able to move through the troubleshooting steps quickly.

    I am pretty sure that using pre-paid SIM cards is not an officially supported feature, so you may have been automatically switched to an iPhone plan, which is the standard for all iPhone devices on AT&T/GSM carrier.

    HI Jason269. Thanks for your reply, however I wrote that I already have "All events" checked. If All Events is checked and it doesn't diaplay all events, how do I fix? It seems this is a common issue, as I have read many others on here state the same problem.
    I believe my problem occurred when I synced my iMac calendar to my iPad calendar using yahoo. Yesterday, I unsynced them on my iMac controls. When I checked my iPad calendar, all of my old entries reappeared - but only for five seconds and disappeared again. So, the data is saved and still there but cannot be displayed, even when I have All events checked. In fact, it only shows my individual entries for the last two months, but does show all my recurring entries. If I switched to last six months, I will see everything for the last six months. If I switch back to all events, it is only for the last two months.
    As I mentioned, others on here have expressed exactly the same issue, including the two month example and having used yahoo.
    For legal purposes, I need to be able to use the information from my indidual calendar entries in an upcoming court case. So I really need to fix this ASAP!

  • I updated to OS X Mavericks and iPhoto 11 and my photos for the last 2 month disappeared.  I have a Mac Mini.

    On 10/25/2013 OS X on my Mac mini was updated to Mavericks and iPhoto was updated to iPhoto 11.  Since then the photos in iPhoto from the last 2 months have disappeared.  Has anyone had a similar complaint?  Thank you.  harck.

    Just a hunch - the "last two month" sounds like an photo stream sync problem.
    How did you import the photos from the last two month? Were they in the Photo Stream? Then enable your Photo Stream again in the Sytem Preferences iCloud pane  and iPhoto Preferences iCloud tab. This option might have been disabled. If you did not download your recent photos automatically from from the stream, the photo stram must be disabled to show them.
    Also, your "last import" event might be empty after the upgrade of the library. Try to sort your events differently, to bring the last event to the top of the list in "Events" view.

    That usually means that there is something wrong with the backup and it cannot be used.  You can try restoring the backup again, but if you continue to get the same message all you can do is restore to a different backup, if you have one.

  • HT201269 When I recently transferred all the data in my 4s to my new iPhone 5, I lost the last 6 months of text messages and and calling history.  Can this be fixed?

    I use iCloud to back up  my iPhone and it backs up everything.  That's why I'm completely baffled why I have lost the last 6 months of textmessaging and phone records.  Is there anything I can do to recover this info?  I restored my new phone from iCloud and I still have my old phone.

    There's no good explanation, other than the fact that it restored an old backup.
    If you have not yet backed up the 5 to your computer connect the iPhone 4 to the computer and back it up. Then connect the iPhone 5 and restore that backup. See this also: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109

  • The last 2 months photos have appeared right back at the beginning of my Events out of date order aothough both my digital camera and iPhone are correctly dated

    1.     The last 2 months photos imported at intervals on seperate occasions appeared in Last Import, but then disappeared when I imported some more.  They should have come up as the latest event in Events, but they didn't.  Eventually I found them right back at the beginning of my Events.  They are dated
    1st April 2013 - 27th April 2013,
    2nd March 2013 - 18th April 2013 and
    4th May 2013 - 20th May 2013
    All my photos are correctly dated and have appeared as Events in chronological order.  How can I correct this.  I have a huge collection of 305 events = 11,000 photos = 58 GB
    2.    A number of assorted flagged photos have  also appeared as an Event right back at the beginning.
    I am using  iPhoto '11 Version 9.4.3

    In the Events mode check the View ➙ Sort menu to make sure it's set as you expected it to be.  If it's By Date ➙ Descending the latest Events will be at the top.
