Terrible noise if no audio signal active (Win7 x64)

Hi all
since few weeks I get a terrible noise (f~10kHz)  out of the electronic of my T500. It is not coming out of the speaker.  Working on the notebook produces terrible headache.
Now I found out, that it is coming somehow from soundcard.
When I start any audio program, say VLC or Winamp and  play any audio file with "zero volume", the noise disappear.
Even some sound events from windows, like mousehover, stops the noise for the duration of audio output.
I'm using Win7 x64.
Has anybody the same issue?
Any ideas?

It's remarkable that even after releasing a Win7 driver this month that Creative Labs is STILL incapable of getting this product supported.
Wireless music volume control still does not work through Win7 volume control.
Useless product.

  • Terrible noise appears when it wants and as long as it wants

    <hi @ all,
    I have a Creative x-fi music running on Win7. ?
Normally i have an amazing good sound, but sometimes just out of a sudden it gets terrible (a terrible noise comes to the foreground and the normal sound gets "deeper"). This just appears whenever it wants to.
Sometimes right after PC start for like 2secs, sometimes when i have the PC running for like 0hs without problems.
It suddenly comes and suddenly goes. There is no "program" i started before etc.
And it lasts as long as it wants to, sometimes secs, sometimes minutes (till i restart the pc).
    Like:
I start the PC, close all programms running?<span class="lia-user-name UserName" ?<span class="lia-user-name UserName" in background and start VLC to watch a movie.
The movie runs for 2hs without any problems. Suddenly the noise appeary without me even touching the mouse.
2mins later the noise is gone.
I already tried different drivers. The onBoard soundcard (which is deactivated when im running the creative card) has no problems.
Anyone know what this could be or even better how to fix this? Ive really no idea.
Or anyone experienced <span class="lia-user-name UserName" this problem before?
    Thx for help,

I keep encountering same once in every 2-3 days.
Restarting windows audio service solves the problem

  • Apple TV 3 audio signal goes off after each song?

My Sony receiver has to reaquire the audio signal from the ATV 3 at the beginning of each song when streaming songs from the Mac. This causes a fraction of the beginning of each song to be missing. Very irritating. There is a clicking noise at the end of each song as the receiver loses the audio signal at the end of each song. Is there a way to work around this?

  • Internal computer noise with firewire audio devices

    Hello
I have a Power Mac G5 PPC 2.3 and Mac Os X 10.5.6, with tiger I have the same problem too, I bougnt my Mac for audio work, and from the purchase day, I have the same problem, I bought my first audio sound card, M-Audio Firewire 1814, and I installed the last drivers for my operating system, when I start Logic I must go to prefferences audio and select the device, I select coreaudio tab and M-Audio Firewire 1814, and when I click on apply changes, in the Mac start an internal noise, low level, and hign frecuency, and this sound keep while logic is open or another audio aplication with M-Audio 1814 is selected like audio device like Pro Tools M-Powered.
Aplications work fine but this noise I think is a conflict with audio device drivers, I can hear this sound too when I go Aplications/Utilities/Audio Midi Setup/ and in the audio devices tab the internal noise not is sounding but when I click on Midi devices tab, the internal noise start and is sounding while Audio Midi Setup is Open, if I quit Audio Midi Setup the noise stop.
In the Activity monitor I can read MIDI Server process is launched when I click on MIDI Tab, and if I select and close this process the noise stop.
It is only for the noise when is sounding with audio midi setup, close MIDI Server and noise stop, but when the noise is with any application (Logic or Pro Tools) in the activity monitor quit MIDI Server process but the noise keep sounding.
I have Digi 003 Rack and Pro Tools LE too, and I have the same problem when Pro Tools LE start.
If I select M-Audio 1814 in system prefferences/Audio, like audio device and open ITunes the noise is not sounding with ITunes, I can listen music whithout problems, but If I select Digi 003 Rack like Audio Device in
System Prefferences/Audio The noise is sounding with ITunes start becouse Digi Core Audio Driver is launched.
I think is a conflict between Thirty Parts Drivers and The System but I need help, what can I do to resolve this.
    Thanks

Nope, someone elsewhere suggested a thing called "ground loop" occurring. Meaning, the interference from the electric current. They suggested trying it with battery power (power detached), and without. But at least for me, made no difference unfortunately.

  • IMac 24 line-ine a lot of noise and no audio...

    Hi guys!
I've a problem...i've tryed LineIn..and other utility but no luck. If i plug my xbox360 outpu or a mp3 output into the iMac linein's i obtain a terrible noise and a really really low sound....but for 2 times the audio worked fine...and at a certain point when i've streached the wires the noise was gone...but no is totally only noise...HELP

    Hello Eidan
    Welcome to Discussions
To prevent damage to your iMac's or xbox's audio system that cord should no longer be used if you find it has a short or the wrong end???
The Mac needs to have a Mini Stereo plug for input to it's jack, look at the one in the link below to compare the plug end with the one you have.

  • Can anyone help me with this- recording at audio signal in the upper frequency region of the audio s

Using Audition, how would I go about recording an audio signal (voice) at
14,500Hz? I know this would be outside the frequency range for the human ear to hear, but that is the point of my question. Any help would be very much appreciated
    Thanks!!!!

You are thinking about it absolutely the wrong way if you think you can "convert" a voice file to be only 14.5kHz. You need to think of a control frequency (14.5kHz) being modulated by the voice line you record. You can't just change the pitch of the voice file or use the FFT filter to eliminate everything under 14.5kHz. It won't work that way.
Try it yourself. Record a voice line. Use Pitch Shifter or pitch strech to change the pitch on the voice. Crank it up all the way to highest possible pitch. Listen to it. Painful isn't it? Could you understand anything? Thought not. Then go to the FFT filter. Reset so it's flat. Add a break point (click on the line) at 14.5kHz. Then click and drag the line below 14.5kHz and bring it to zero. Listen to it. You get the occasional movment if you watch the Frequency Analysis window, but certainly nothing audible to my burned out ears.
The direction I would look at is using the Vocoder effect in MT. insert your voice line into the MT window. In EV, create a new file using Generate Tones at 14.5kHz of the length you need. Insert the tone file into MT ABOVE the voice file. Select and highlight them both. Still in MT, go to Effects>Vocoder. Make your Control Wave the voice file and your Process Wave the tone file. Hit OK. A new file (that looks blank) will be created. Play it in EV with the Frequency Analysis window open and you will see activity at 14.5kHz. This is amplitude modulation (AM). Will it result in anything subliminal? I doubt it, but it would depend on how much you belive subliminal messaging works.
Didn't an earlier version of Audition have some subliminal effect? Could it have been as far back as CEP 1.2?

just  the audio, eh?. If you were using DVI or DisplayPort that might be different, but for audio alone, it shouldn't be that hard.  Just grab a 3.5 mm stereo plug to 2 rca cables adapter. Plug the smaller end into the back of your Mac Pro (or the Front), where you see either the headphone or speaker icon). Alt-click on the speaker icon at the top of your screen to show all audio inputs and outputs. Make sure it's set to Line Out.  Plug the red and white end into the audio in jacks on the back of your tv and set it to the correct input. I don't know if your tv will allow just the audio to play. Usually one has to connect up something else, but hopefully I'm wrong.  If you were using DVI, or DisplayPort, you'd need an active DVI--HDMI adapter or a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, but
    I don't know for sure

  • Noise gating an analog signal

Here is the idea (the concept is available in commercial software) - to remove back ground noise from an audio event, acquire a small sample pre-event, and do an FFT of this to discover signal strength in multiple bands; this is hte noise characterization. Then set a threshold for each band a bit higher than the noise signal strength. This then gets applied to the "event" at each frequency band - if the signal during the event does not excede the threshold for that band, that is not part of the event but just the back ground noise. This I follow, my question is how to best implement the filter in LabVIEW - I am thinking of two approaches, (a) filter in the frequency domain (should be easy) but can that be turned back into audio in the time domain? or (b) run the audio sample through a series of band pass filter starting by stripping out the weakest frequencies and working to the strongest and whatever is left is the event audio with everything else stripped out. Has anyone done this in LabVIEW?

Either of your approaches can be used in principle. In practice you may not get performance as good as you wish.
With either method some time delay between the input audio and output audio will exist.  How much delay can you tolerate?
For (a) you do two FFTs. One of the pre-event segment. The other is of the event segment. If the sgements are different lengths, df will be different and this will make the rest of the processing complicated. Padding the shorter segment with zeros is the easiest way to match the dfs but will introduce amplitude errors. After zeroing the below-threshold bins in the event segment FFT, do the inverse FFT. Make sure to use complex numbers on all the frequency domain calculations to avoid losing essential phase information.
For (b) you need to deal with the transient responses and delays of the filters. Each filter with different center frequency and bandwidth will have a different transient response and delay. Compensating for those effects can get very messy.  With continuous data the transients die out but for your event-based process this may not be a viable solution.

  • How to correct "An incompatible audio signal" with Apple TV and HD signal

I have an Apple tv2(mc572Ll/a) running version 4.4.4 of the software, connecting to an older Sharp Aquos LCD-26d6u TVvia a regular HDMI cable.
I used to be able to watch a rented movie until my onsitel technician/ teenager adjusted something.
Now when the preview plays the sound works. When a video is displayed using AirPlay from the iPhone the sound works.
But when the HD movie plays the message "an incompatible audio signal has been received. Check the output device settings" and there is no sound.
When I connect this to a newer HDTV the movie sound works.
Any suggestions on what Apple tv or tv settings to use to get the sound back (other than upgrading my technician/teenager/tv)?

Thanks!  I changed the Dolby setting from On to Auto, and the sound started working for Netflix TV shows.  Before I was getting the message:
Incompatible audio format received check output device settings
    and there was no sound.
The Settings are accessed through Apple TV.   When you have Apple TV on, and you see all the colored rectangles for Netflix, huluplus, HBO etc., (which can be accessed by repeatedly hitting the Menu button on the remote), the top row shows:
Movies   TV Shows  Music  Computers  Settings
Use the 4 way controller to choose Settings, then press the button in the center of the 4 way controller to select Settings.  Then select Audio Video.  Then scroll down to Dolby Digital.  When you are on Dolby Digital and you push the button in the center of the 4 way controller, the setting will change.  I changed the Dolby Digital setting to Auto.

  • Audio stereo signal split into 3 or 4 stereo audio signals (in one single clip)?

    Hi,
facing massice transcoding issues when exporting a project I had to analyse the involved video/audioclips...
and found out that for some of the video clips the audio signals have been split into even 3 or 4 complementary stereo channels.
Note: Each channel contains just a part of the original signal. This is obviously due to cutting action ...
What can I do? I have no clue!
    My question:
How to get one single stereo audio signal (2 channels) out of this mess?
    Thanx big time,
    Oliver

Assuming we're talking about shorter takes and not a longer, spanned clip, I don't think what you want can be done in PP.  Nesting will always bring the audio over as one track.
You may have to skim the clip sequence in the Program Monitor and copy/paste the portions you want to use into a second sequence for output.  This will preserve the audio.

  • Using video and audio signal from a camera connect...

Why is it not possible and is skype intending to implement the ability to use the video signal form a digital camcorder connected to a tv?
A lot of people these days have digital camcorders or digital cameras that produce video signal. Why can't those be supported as video input by skype?

.....  Previously I had a HDMI to DVI cable and I had to awkwardly move the image off the PC monitor to the HDTV but with no sound.  Should I send the equipment (Kanex VGA to HDMI converter and associated cables) back to B&H while I can still return them and get refunded....
    Hi,
The following ports are at the back of your computer:
    Figure 4: Back I/O panel
    1 - USB 2.0: 4
    2 - LAN
    3 - DVI-D
    4 - D-SUB port (VGA port)
    5 - Audio: Line in
    6 - Audio: Line out
    7 - Audio: Microphone
You already mentioned DVI-HDMI : it works but no sound. That's true because DVI does not carry audio signals. All you need is using RCA cable to connect port #6 to your TV.
    Regards.

  • Enabling Simultanious Analog and Digital Audio Signals

My apple TV runs through a Yamaha receiver. It is hooked up with component video and digital audio cables. I also need to hook analog audio to my receiver so it can play outdoor speakers through zone 2 (which only recognizes analog signals). Zone 2 does not work when I hook both digital and analog cables. Called Yamaha and they said to look for a setting on Apple TV that enables simultanious analog and digital audio signals. Does anyone know if/how this can be done? Or any other way to make the analog zone work without losing digital on the main zone?

AFAIK, the analog audio on the ATV outputs all the time. The audio output setting in the ATV just determines whether the digital output is Dolby or PCM. Try turning off Dolby in the ATV audio settings and see if that makes a difference. If not, the problem is probably elsewhere.

  • Can you tell me how to measure audio signal frequency in measurement studio with visual basic 6.0?

I'd like to measure two differential input signal(I.e. A+ and A-),below is two test projects,
1.connect A+/A- to PCI 6052E card's ACH0/ACH8 ,and refer to GND for testing
    2.connect respectively A+/A- to PCI 6052E card's ACH0/ACH8 for testing
Could you tell me the details of the second project?and give me a illustration in measurement studio with visual basic 6. 0 about the second?
In addition,I would like to measure the audio signal frequency, could you give me a illustration in measurement studio with visual basic 6.0?
    Wait for your reply!

    Dear kelven,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
To address your question, there are Analog Input shipping examples that demonstrate how to measure an analog input differentially, as you specify in (2).
As for measuring the audio signal frequency, you may want to check out the following KnowledgeBase. The link is:

  • Firewire drive noise appearing in audio output

    Hi:
When I have a firewire drive plugged in, a lot of digital noise appears at the audio output jack. If I turn the drive off, I hear a whining-down noise in the audio output. I've tried two different drives, 3 different cables, same thing. Anyone have any ideas? It's a huge bummer; I bought my MacBook Pro to do music on...

    Hey george,
i know this is not going to be any help, (i need some too!!!) but i have exactly the same problem. I first noticed it when using my ICY BOX external harddrive and thought it was just the noise from the external drive but the same thing happens when i attach my Motu traveler firewire soundcard to it. Its so annoying. the sound dissapears when i take out the mini jack from the output.
I am also having a problem of sound distortion over the output and recording input when i attach my Motu firewire unit
(this is seperate from the minijack problem i think as this happens when the minijack is plugged into the output AND when it is not).
This didnt happen to my powerbook 1.6 and never happens to my friends one either????
I am going to make a seperate thread about this problem now but if you could tell me if you have the same problem with your soundcard i would be grateful.
All the best and if you find out what the problem is please post your solutio up, vice versa.

  • Terrible noise on Pavillion

Ten month ago, i bought my first pavillon.
    What's error !!!!
Few week later, it begun to play a terrible noise.
The diagnostic was easy : graphic card cooler. I photo to hp support team, who try to flash the bios before listenning my probleme. After that they explain me that it was inpossible to semd me new fan, or a graphic card ...
They can send harddrive, crdrom drive.. but no other part.... Strange.
The fan is a SMY DFS 601012D. May it cost less than 3 dollors to HP.
But these 3 buck will cost them more than one client!
Does any of you have got the same probleme with the team support ?
(i've read a thread, where a guy have a card exchange...)

Strange nobody have experienced the same problem
Well, I think I fixed the noise issues myself.
Have you ever noticed the noise from your stereo speakers when you recieve a sms?
Well, the noise I experienced all the time was that kind of 'sms noise'.
What seems to eliminate the problem is this:
    In settings,
    - turn "Airplane mode" off
    - turn "Do not disturb" off (this is a new setting in IOS 6)
Maybe this can be helpful to somebody else
