Terrible Sound

When I record a movie using my iSight camera and using the built in microphone, I get the nastiest background sounds. More like a high pitched hum.
I am recording in a quiet room and there is nothing else causing noise.
In the old days I would assume it was a issue with the power giving EMF, it sounds like that but it isn't.
Anyone suggest what I can do to trouble shoot as I have looked all over the forums and to no avail.

1. Post your part number (p/n) . You'll find it at the bottom of the laptop on a sticker, which looks like this.
2. Which system are you using now?
3. Go to:
Control Panel -> Devices Manager -> Audio, Video and Games Controllers
and find there IDT audio card. Click on it with right button of your mouse and choose properties. Then go to ' Details ' tab and paste here Hardware Ids . This way we will know what it is.

Terrible sound for new Windows 7 Computer with Realtek HD driver.

I just recently purchased a new HP Pavilion 6230 and it has terrible sound with Windows 7 64 bit. I unistalled the realtek driver and installed realtek's latest driver and to no avail, the sound did not improve. I have searched the internet all over for a solution but there doesn't appear to be one. I believe realtek better take a look at this, or their going to have a nasty backlash on their hands from thousands of consumers, not to mention the manufacturers of the computers which put in the realtek products in the first place.

I had a similar problem with my Slimline s5330la with Win7. It started as soon as I took it out of the box. Any media file sounds distorted with a very annoying intermitent "buzz". Updating the BIOS (to V5.07) and reinstalling the Realtek HD Audio driver didn't help. HP support changed the machine (it was 2 days old) and sent me a brand new one........with the SAME problem!!!!!! I just installed it and it has the same distortion. I've been on the phone with HP support and they have no clue on what is happening.
I suspected that it was not a "sound" problem since when a song is being played with the HP MediaSmart program and the title of the song appears on the screen, the name of the song "jumps" and "freezes" at the same time as the distortion appears as if the machine got some kind of interference.
After checking the latency of my PC with "DCP Latency Checker" (www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml) I realized that the problem was not the sound driver but the wireless driver.
Disabiling the 802.11n Wireless PCI Express Card Lan Adapter "corrects" the problem. This was not a solution given what without that driver you are off-line! However, at least it is more clear what the problem was.
I had version 3.0.1.0 (19/05/2009) of the driver by Ralink Technology.
HP has no updated driver for that component on their website but I found newer driver on RALINKTECH web.
I downloaded the 3.1.0.0 version from www.ralinktech.com. Installed it and the problem was solved.

6500 Slide terrible sound quality

Hello,
i just replaced my SE k810 for a Nokia 6500 slide. The problem with the K810 was battery which only lasted for one day. So i thought i`d give Nokia a try. Compared to the SonyEricsson phone, however the sound quality in Nokia is terrible. When i dial a number and press the call button the phone starts buzzing in my ear and the buzzing continues throughout the call. The sound that i hear is metallic and some of the tones seem to be missing at all.
Is this a common problem with this phone? I already returned the phone back to the service but as far as i know all they do there is updating the software, which does not fix anything. 6500 slide owners please comment on the problem.

I agree, the sound quality, among other things make this the worst phone I have ever had. Nothing works on this stupid phone and no one wants to fix it because the say that it has been damaged by rain. Well, that is not strange when it is open in the top ( you charge the phone from the top, stupid feature). So I have a phone that I can't use...

Vista on iMac terrible sound

I've installed vista on a few 24" iMacs. The sound produced under vista is just terrible (metallic echo), on all of them. I've used the drivers delivered with OSX 10.5.0.
Are ther any better drivers or any settings that produce better audio?
btw. The sound under OS X is fine.

I have noticed that too. I think it sounds a little better if you go to Control Panel > Sound > Speakers > Advanced and set the Default Format to 24 bit, 192000 Hz. The default is 16 bit, 44100 Hz so that might something that made it sound bad. I took a screenshot of what I was doing at http://tinyurl.com/5mb4pp.

Terrible Sound with the Original Apple iPod shuffle 1st Generation

Just found my very old shuffle and wanted to give it to my 5 yo son to listen to. So I loaded songs on it but unfortunately the music sounds terrible - very tinny, low volume, almost techno with no bass. We are using the latest OS so I'm wondering if that's the problem. Any one have a possible solution? Did a factory restore and this didn't help at all.

Does this happen with any set or earbuds you try with the Shuffle? Was this something that wasn't a problem until recently?
If nothing else, try a hard reset of the iPod to see if that helps clear up the problem.

Flash Player / Firefox Browser / Terrible Sound

Hi there, first of all, can i just state i am semi pro music producer, so its not my imagination lol, i uploaded a video to Youtube of my latest production, when i listened to it in IE was fine, Chrome the same, however when i used Firefox and flash the sound was terribly degraded, at first i thought it might have been firefox so i switched to HTML5 and the sound was perfect, so it was flash that was the problem. I uninstalled it, reinstalled it, same result, i then went to reverbnation and engaged the music player, same result, other browsers fine, firefox and flash terrible..
Here is my latest production, listen to it in chrome or IE then listen in flash a massive difference, i tried to find ways of contacting adobe, but no luck.

This should probably be posted to YouTube. My uneducated guess is that they are serving two different encodings, one for Flash the other for their HTML5 player.
Fwiw, I captured the first two minutes of the song using both Chrome and Firefox. I then compared them both in Audition (pasting an inverted copy as a mix) and saw that they were basically identical until around the 1:20 mark (I cropped some of the initial rain sound so my timing is a bit off from the full recording.) At the 1:20 mark it appears the firefox/flash copy is either missing a portion of the audio or is briefly sped up. At this point, the audio differs with Firefox being ahead about a second. I've uploaded the audition multitrack so you can take a look.
Before the divergence, I could not notice a discernible difference when I solo'd between the two tracks.

Terrible sound after restore

I restored my ipod and deleted everything so i could put on a new library. But now the sound quality is terrible and there is no bass. my headphones have built in woofers that were being used before but now they arent. any ideas?

Were you using any EQ on the iPod previously? A restore would've set the EQ to off.

Terrible sound with Far Cry

Just as I sorted out a bad RAM problem (1 of 2 sticks went bad), I come across a sound problem. I'm playing Far Cry and the sound is terrible. It's choppy. When I shoot, there's a slight delay in the sound and it seems as if the game stops for a split second. (On the other hand, the graphics are great - so vivid.) But getting back to my problem, is this just an onboard sound problem or is it a combo sound/ video driver problem??
p.s. This is just regular gameplay. No online stuff.

Well, first off, the onboard sound is pretty good as far os onboard sound goes. But it is still onboard sound, so the CPU is still going to be crunching all the numbers. (i.e. no sound hardware acceleration)
But, it still should NOT be as bad are you are describing. It really sounds like the machine is being overwhelmed somehow.
Here are a few questions that occur to me:
What version of Far Cry are you running?
What are your sound settings in Far Cry configurator?
What are the graphics settings? AA? AF?
How is your swap file configured?
Is the hard drive activity light flashing a lot when this is going on?
Does the problem happen immediately when you start playing or only after awhile?
Are you sure the system isn't overheating? (I personally have had this happen on an old system, but the it would usually lock up completely shortly after the sound went nuts.)
Have you tried closing any unnessary background processes (like all those little icons in the system tray next to the clock) to see if it helps?
Does rebooting help?

Mbp slanted upwards CD drives makes some terrible sound

Um Hi Guyz I recently bought a mac book pro (around 1 month ago) n I hav juz realised that whenever I "tilt" my MBP upwards (the keyboard facing vertical) while after loading a VCD, CD or DVD it makes this terrible cracking sound. I am not a computer expert or anything so I juz wanna shout out if any1 out there knows if this should happen or not????? I hav asked a mate of mine n he said u shouldn't slant it upwards cuz obviously the base should be kept horizontal!!! So I am juz wondering if there is anything wrong with my CD DRIVE

I think that I will partially take your advice; I will replace my sound card... with nothing... Suddenly, sound quality of my onboard sound card is quite good enough for my taste and I don't plan to waste any more time on ANY sound card.
Ill try to install it one more time, and after that, if it won't work, she will ended up in trash.

Terrible sound quality on my Satellite C50-AOG1

My speakers sound really tinny and the worst I've heard since I had a transistor radio in 1970. I went into the drivers download are but was not able to find anything to improve them. Using 8.1 doesn't help because I'm not sure where you find everything.
Any ideas?
Anyone else found a shortcoming and solved it or just has a good idea please?

BH-501 terrible sound

Hello Im the owner of a bluetooth headphone BH-501, and i got them for about 5 days now, at first i was quite impressed with the quality of the sound they offer, i linked them to my macbook and them linked with a samsung phone, then i left them offed for a day and when i tried to link them with my macbook the quality was awful, sounds like an AM radio, or monoaural. We thought it would be re-charging but didn't help.
We also did clear the settings, and didn't help either.
FYI. we dind't wet them of hit them
We're scared and shocked of how it could be damaged?
In some web forum we're read that letting them drain all of it's power source completely could bring back to life the bh.
but could be this the case?
What would you suggest?

Just Press n Hold until u see RED n Blue light before u turn it on.
Then u can release the button, the search it! Passcode is 0000.
After usage, u can turn it of by press n hold
Then after paired, u will not need to pair it to connect it again other time. Just press once after turn it on with Bluetooth on in Hidden or Show to All mode. CONNECTED!
The sound quality is average but Good in Bass in Series 40 phones like Nokia 6233, Nokia 5300 n Nokia 6288, you can't reach the top settings for most left bar n right bar in the 5-Equalizer setting because the Bluetooth Headphone BH-501 will sound overpowered/over bass. Besides, the sound got a little bit screech behind the melodies (i mean Music Instruments) when voice started.

AC3... terrible sound

Hi people,
I have tryed compress AC3 file and I can't understand why the sound result has been too much bad.
Dispite the people says that AC3 has the same quality as PCM it's not true. PCM has more sound volume and quality. Of course the PCM is "bigger" than AC3 but my project has space available. However, the difference between PCM and AC3 is amazing. Because this difference I tryed some alternatives but I still have problems:
- I compressed as AC3 (with highest resolution) the sound is played as 5.1 but the sound result is poor and sound volume very low. When I verify the kind on dvd player the information 5.1 is showed on TV;
- I compressed as AIFF (48 Khz, chanel 5.1, quality best) on the dvd the sound result is mono (all sound on center chanel). I know there is no sense (???). The final volume is low and it is showed as 2.0 on TV;
- I compressed as Quicktime Surround Sound 5.1 (48 Khz, chanel 5.1, best quality) the dvd the sound result is 5.1 , the final volume and quality is equal as 2.0 PCM but on TV but is showed as 2.0 .
My questions are:
Why with AC3 the final sound is so bad?
Why with the Quicktime is showed as 2.0 ?

If you want the volume of the AC3 encode to be the same level as it was in FCP, you MUST set Dialog Normalization to -31dbfs and use NONE as the Compression type.
FWIW, for over 10 years I've been using AC3 audio exclusively on DVDs I produce and never had an issue with the audio quality. On the other hand, using AIFF audio has been known to cause some DVD players to stutter due to the higher data rate demand of the AIFF format.

Terrible sound compression

Hi I have just purchased this HP Pavilion pc with Beatsaudio, the sound is absolute crap, there is so much compression it makes it virtually unlistenable, I need to get rid of beats audio as I am unable to turn it off completely. I am a musician and alway use my laptop to accept music from my digital recorder but I just cant get rid of this awful compression.Also my old laptop had a 'Mic in' input where I could download directly from my recorder using Audacity, does any body know of a device which would allow me to use a usb port to allow me to record from my recorder.Thanks all

Terrible sound when pausing video

Whenever i pause a video, spacebar or button, the audio, if any is playing, will not stop, but will repeat very quickly like when a video game locks up. Any one know about this???

I was not getting any sound at all. I just recorded video on my friends iphone and I could totally hear the audio. I did a full restore back to factory settings and it is working now. I'll have to see how it goes.
