-TesStand - On PreLoad - Multiple instances of nimxsoffline.exe opened?

nimxsoffline.exe - On TestStand Preload - multiple instances are opened and stay open unless Modules are unloaded (2013 & 2012SP1)
It is Workspace dependant and happens on a TestStand Preload.
All Code Modules are Labview and there are Project specific StepTypes.
Has anyone seen this before ?

Hi Teuch,
Thank you for your question. It is absolutely fine that nimxsoffline.exe since it is required for
a TestStand to work properly.
It is a system service and it should not cause you any problems.

  • Multiple Instance of HSODBC.EXE

    Hi,
I'm using Oracle 8.1.7.4 (W2K) with heterogeneous services to connect via dblink to DB2/400.
I can read successfully several tables from AS400; but a multiple instance of 'hsodbc.exe' ( i.e. one task for one interrogation) are created on task manager.
    If I try to end a hsodbc I can't.
After several interrogation, I can't use again hsodbc and the system returns the following error:
ORA-28500 [Generic Connectivity Using ODBC] a dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed; at FIND_IMAGE_SYMBOL
cannot connect to shareable nvdbodbc. Using dummy function
    Initialization function ODBC not found.
    ORA-02063
Is there any particular configuration of heterogeneous services that avoid a multiple instance of 'hsodbc.exe' ?
This is a serious problem for us.
    Regards
    Andrea

    Andrea,
this normally indicates, that an established session is not correctly ended.
In general you need to close database links after you do not need them anymore.
A SQL*Plus session for example querying from the remote database will normally close the db link automatically while ending the SQL*Plus session.
Sometimes it could happen, that you end SQLÜPlus during long runnning queries; in this situaotion it might happen, that hsodbc will stay in the mmory. To get rid of those hsodbc processes, you may use pskill from www.sysinternals.com.
If the hsodbc processes are spawned by frequentyl running job systems, you need to close the database link manually afterwards.
    alter session close database link <db link name>;

  • Multiple instances of AcroRd32.exe while using Windows Explorer Preview Pane

I'm trying to understand why our computers behave differently while browsing PDF files using Windows Explorer with the preview pane turned on.
All are Windows 7 Pro 32-bit.
The scenario:  Open Windows Explorer with the preview pane turned on, go to a folder full of PDF files, and start single-clicking on them, one by one down the list.  Keep Task Manager open, on the Processes tab, showing processes from all users, as you click on the PDF files.
On two of the computers, you can keep clicking right on the down the list, and the preview pane shows the PDF file contents immediately with each click.  The Task Manager does not show any instances of AcroRd32.exe running, and the machine does not slow down no matter how quickly you go down the list of files.  You can keep clicking all day.
On the other two computers, as you keep clicking down the list, after about six or seven clicks, the machine starts getting slower and slower in responding to display the PDF contents.  In Task Manager, you see multiple instances of AcroRd32.exe executing, and the list keeps growing with more instances - I've seen up to 8, with memory allocations to some of the instances approaching 700MB!  One of the CPU cores goes to 100%. If you stop clicking in Windows Explorer, eventually, the machine recovers, and the list of multiple instances of AcroRd32.exe shrinks, but never goes away completely until you close the Explorer window.
What could account for this difference?  One of the users is complaining - he often browses folders of scanned PDFs looking for invoices, transactions, etc., and has to go slowly to keep his machine from bogging down.  I don't know when this behavior started.
It doesn't matter if it is a shared folder on a network resource or one locally on the machine, or if it is an admin or standard Windows account - the behavior is the same.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader, to no avail.
    Thanks for any ideas.

Yes i'm having this issue to.
Becomes worse after display many documents in pane, worst even if scanned images are in.
After killing the  process, sometimes it generate even more process.
After Killing all the process, sometimes need to deactivate the pane view and activate
    again to restore normal preview.
Sometimes it takes a lot of time to progress to file below, if i wait, going to files above, it pass
the file that shows delay, without any problem.
I add received from Microsoft, in answer to the same issue to uninstall adobe reader and install
latest version. It become a bit more stable, but problem still shows.
Abobe reader: 10.1.0, ATI latest drivers 11-07

  • Multiple instances of nilm.exe zombies causing laptop to crash

    Symptom:
My laptop was recently disabled by multiple instances of nilm.exe.
The computer became sluggish and eventually could only be shutdown by removing the battery.
The task manager reported that the amount of memory being using was over 1 Gig and growing. Task manager processes showed pages of nilm.exe, presumably zombies.
And of course the critial error pop-up - "nilm.exe could not initialize." that was always in top and could not be cleared.
    Extreme measure taken:
Because of the sluggish performance I could not get to the service menu to shutdown the parent NI service. Instead I renamed the file nilm.exe to killnilm.exe thus inhibiting spawning yet another copy of nilm.exe.
At this point I re-booted and set the parent NI license management service to start manually.
    Complaint:
The NI knowledge base lists this as a known problem and that only one copy of nilm.exe should be running. The knowledge base also states the root cause is that TCP/IP is incorrectly configured. I do not agree this root cause statement. The root cause is poor programming practice that allows the lack of a computer resource (TCP/IP sockets connection) to completely crash a computer.

    Hi jwillis172,
I guess that you are referring to the following KnowledgeBase:
Multiple NILM Processes after Installing LabVIEW and the NI License Manager
Did the solution/workaround in the KB resolve your issue? If not, please let me know.
I'm not a developer, but I see your point in the statement that a
missing computer resource should not result in a crash. Please make
sure to submit your feedback to the KB through the option on the bottom
of the page. This will bring your feedback to the responsible person
    for the KB.

  • Multiple instances of explorer.exe running in task manager

I got a dropper trojan virus on my computer that microsoft security essencials do not recognized but after running "superantispyware" antivirus I got discover it and delete it. After that, I still could find the infected files in my
administrator folders as .temp files and I just erased them. After that my computer started crashing and runing several instances of explorer.exe in the task manager with different memory values, some of them ascending to 350,000. I have set up my computer
to run just the basic services, I have tried windows in safe mode, ran other antivirus programs but still it is performing the same. As far as I have noticed other unusual process present are host.dll, dllhost.exe, and logonUI.exe. Any idea about it? Thanks
    in advance for your help.

I have the same issue. It started about a month ago when I was filling out a form online and had to quit and close the window.  My system got very buggy (can't remember details), flashing, then really slow.  Found a bunch of explorer.exe instances
in Task Manager.  Ran Security Essentials and several other anti-viruses, nothing found.
    Running Win7 Pro, sp1, 64-bit, CoreI5, 4Gb Ram
Restored system to a previous version, didn't work
Restored last system image, didn't work
Used System Repair Disk - ran Memory Diagnostic.  Said it would give me report after reboot.  Never saw a report after reboot. But only one instance of explorer.exe in task manager at that point.  Took disk out, rebooted normally.  After
20 minutes or so, the multiple instances were back.
Used Repair Disk again, ran Memory Diagnostic. Again, no report after reboot (leaving disk in machine both times), but only one instance running again.
Did this a few times with the same result, so now leaving disk in system and always boot from it.
Ran Security Essentials again, found that rovnix virus, removed, ran again, found it again.
Ran search for instances and found many.  Here's an example:
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe
    C:\Windows\winsxs\wow64_microsoft-windows-explorer_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17567_none_b9fc4815c4e292b5

    C:\Windows\SysWOW64
When I check properties on the now single one on Task Manager, this is what it shows:
    C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-explorer_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17567_none_afa79dc39081d0ba\explorer.exe
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe
I was going to reinstall entire system, but was from an Anytime Upgrade which now says it's invalid.  Much more to story on that (calls to MS support, etc.).

  • How can i run multiple instances of Photoshop EXE at the same time on windows 7

Alright. You may ask why do you need multiple ?
Assume that i have 10000 PSD files in 10 different folders
I have a script that just save as them as PNG
And these files are each 3000x3000 px
My computer has 8 cores and 1 photoshop exe is only using 1 cpu core
Also i have SSD raid system it has 750 mb read write per second
So right now i am wasting my time with running only 1 photoshop exe instead of at least 4

I'm not aware of a way to run multiple instances or different versions of photoshop at the same time on windows.
Assuming of course they are all installed on the same operating system.
On mac versions you can running two different versions of photoshop at the same time, but i don't think that's possible on windows where it
appears that only one version of photoshop can run at a time.

  • Multiple instances of jrun.exe running?

Is it common for there to be more than one instance of
jrun.exe running in a non-clustered installation of CF7? There have
been episodes where jrun.exe seems to get taxed on moderately size
queries. After looking at Task Manager on Win2K3 server - there are
sometimes 3 or 4 instances of jrun.exe running. The first instance
is usually very high (ex. 450 MB) while the other instance(s) hover
around the 10-15 MB mark and remain constant. Does this sound like
an issue that can be controlled by CFAdmin or are there issues with
    our configuration:
    Win2K3 Server (VMWare instance)
CF7.01 (yes we know it needs a patch)
    512 MB RAM
Any thoughts on this is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    > Is it common for there to be more than one instance of
    jrun.exe running in a
    > non-clustered installation of CF7?
    Yes.
A multi-server install (not a clustered) of CF could well
    have one instance
of JRUN.EXE running for each CF instance. There's usually at
    least two: one
for the initial CF instance, and one for the JMC. You can
    switch the JMC
one off (starting it on the off-chance you need it, which is
    almost never).
    > The first instance is usually very high (ex. 450 MB)
    while the other
That's not especially high for a CF app server. We generally
    allocate the
max 1.3GB (on Windows) to the JVM that each CF instance is
    using.
    > 512 MB RAM
OK, that's not even enough RAM for a PC workstation these
    days, let alone a
server! W2k3 itself needs around a minimum of 400MB to run.
    The default
install of CF will want another 512MB.
I would not run a desktop PC on less than 2GB RAM these days.
    And make
    that 4GB for a server. A low-spec'ed one.

  • Multiple instances of an exe (and of a VI)

    Hi all,
I need to run an exe I created with application builder, more than one time.  I have to run two separate instances of this exe.
More, I'm still interested in calling a subVI more than once from a top level VI, and the two instances of the subVI should run in parallel, with different inputs.
is there some reference for this?  Thanks everybody!

    Hi!
It works fine, thanks!  But this lead to some questions
       - Where do I find infos on editing application generated .ini files?
       - Isn't there a way to do this for an application build with "application builder"? Or should i tell user to manually edit .ini file?
       Really thanks again!

  • Multiple instances of Internet Explorer in task manager using 100,000 KB+ memory

Hi! I recently got a virus on my computer that causes multiple instances of explorer.exe and iexplorer.exe to appear in my processes tab of task manager. Over the course of about a minute, the memory usage of each begins to climb rapidly until all of my
memory is being used by these. These do not appear in my applications, nor do they actually open up an internet explorer window. When I end task on them, another one appears about a minute later to take its place and do the same thing again. Additionally,
when I click shut down to turn my computer off, various advertisements flash on my screen for a few seconds before the computer begins to shut down. When the computer is started up, a window appears for a split second that contains only blackness. I have never
seen this window appear before the virus was obtained. When I end task on all my explorer.exe and iexplorer.exe applications at the same time, my desktop vanishes, but it also stops those applications from reappearing.  This virus has caused my computer
to run unbearably slow. I have tried Spybot S&D, Exterminateit, AVG, Roadkill, and other methods and nothing seems to detect this or cure it. I am not that good with computers, but I am dying for help on the matter! If you can assist, please let me know
what I can do with detailed instructions for my sake! Thank you!!!!!!

  • Multiple instances of "plugin container" running

I have consistently had up to five instances of plugin container running in the background...
    * Windows Vista 32 bit build Ver 6.0 SP 2
    * Firefox 4.0x
So far nothing can be attributed to web browsing behavior.
    Thanks

There is a known issue where multiple instances of plugin container open if history or cookies are cleared. Are you, or some utility clearing firefox cookies or history, that could be the reason. This problem continues even if plugins are disabled in Firefox.
*Are you opening multiple instances of Flash Player ?
    * Is the problem reproducible ? <br/> for instance does it always crash the plugin or cause it to hang if you use a particular site ?
If you get the FlashPlayer plugin crashing use the option to submit the crash reports, it is then possible to follow them up. It is possible to stop the plugincontainer opening, but that could result in a firefox crash. Of course the firefox crash can also send crash reports out, and that could be useful.
    * see [[plugin crash reports]]
    * [[what is plugin-container]]
    * [[firefox crashes]]
There are some problems with FlashPlayer currently under investigation, and there may be other threads in the forum about problems. (e.g. Bug 561019 - Plugin waveOutOpen hangs )
Sometimes using Firefox 3.6 is a workaround that helps with FlashPlayer problems, if you wish to experiment with that consider installing firefox Portable and using Firefox 3.6.23 (or soon 3.6.24) for tests with flash player, whilst keeping firefox 7 for day to day browsing.

  • How can you open multiple instances in Safari?

I am new to the Mac world. I was so used to having multiple instances of Internet Explorer open when I used a Windows PC. Can anybody please explain to me how can I open multiple Safaris? Thank you for answering my question.
    McCam.....new to the iMac world.

    Hi McCam,
Welcome to the world of Macs
Open Safari, and then under the File menu you can open a new window (or press command+n to do the same thing - the command key is the one with the Apple symbol on it).
    Hope that helps.

  • I want to separate Flash players into multiple instances of plugin-container.exe

Let's say I'm watching a video online and I feel like playing a Flash game while watching it. Let's also assume that this Flash game, like many others, has no volume options and is obnoxiously loud, drowning out the video.
All running Flash players (even between separate windows of Firefox) share the same process, so if I try to drop the volume of the game in Windows 7, it drops the volume of the video as well.
Is there some way to get firefox to load Flash players into separate process so that Windows can give me volume control over each? Perhaps there is an addon that does this?
P.S. I tried the -no-remote command line option on Firefox, but it turns out that each instance of firefox.exe requires a separate profile (which is an issue if the game uses cookies). I'd rather be able to get one instance of firefox.exe to use multiple instances of plugin-container.exe.

  • AddOn Exe running multiple instance in client machine

    Hello Experts,
I have created a addon which i have installed in the server .While connecting the addon from the client machine addon runs
well . But at the end of day when i see the task manager their it shows two to three instance of that addon exe running
.I have written the application event in my addon for its termination when the sap is closed or addon is stopped.
Even though system shows two to three instance of that addon exe running on that client machine.
Suggest how to solve this multiple instance problem of AddOn Exe.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Amit

    Hello Amit,
this comes because SAP B1 Dumps, and your addon is not terminated. You can check the
C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One\Log folder for SAP B1 logs. If you see more than 1 file per day, you can make sure, that the application has been restarted.
When B1 dumps,. the addons are not getting disconnected, so you can build a monitoring procedure into the addon, to look SAP B1 is alive or not.
In forum, last year I have sent at least 2 solutions for handling this issue, but it is very hard to  handle in terminal servers because there you running several SAP Business One.exe applications.
If you not using terminal server, it is not an problem. follow up this threads

  • ImportREDServer.exe Running Multiple Instances

When I launch Premiere CS5 it starts up 8 instances of ImportREDServer.exe (see attached). Is this normal? Also, when I am opening my project (1200+ R3D clips), it loads a few hundred then freezes (not responding) for 30 - 60 seconds, then loads a few hundred more, and so on. I don't know if these are related. However, when I open the CS4 version of the project in CS4 it loads much faster and smoother. Any thoughts?
    Specs:
    Premiere 5.0.2
    Windows 7 64 bit
    6GB RAM
    i7 1.6GHz
Firewire 800 6TB LaCie connected via ExpressCard Adapter

Yes, it is normal for multiple instances of ImporterREDServer to start---up to one per processor core.
You have a rather small amount of RAM for a computer with eight processors. If there are several instances of the RED importer running for loading hundreds of RED clips, it's going to take a while, especially if these instances are fighting over a small amount of RAM. Whenever software fights over RAM, you run into delays, especially if the contents of the RAM end up getting swapped to the hard disk.
I have 24GB of RAM in my home computer with the same number of processor cores that you have. It makes a great positive difference.
