Test Drive OS X Server - VPN, Subnets, User Management

Is there a place I can test drive osx server? I don't want to purchase expensive server os and hardware and find out it will not do what I want.
What I want to do is setup VPN so road warriors can connect securely and surf the internet through the vpn connection. I want to setup multiple subnets so users are separated from each other for security reasons.
I look forward to your insight.

I'm not aware of an organization that provides a test-drive for Mac OS X Server, though there might be a related one-on-one or business-oriented class available (for free or for a fee) at a local Apple store.
VPNs are easily feasible with Mac OS X Server, and a VPN client is built into Mac OS X. That written, there are a gazillion different interpretations of "VPN" and of "road warrior"; protocols and requirements and clients and access patterns and security requirements can and do differ.
Subnets are standard IP, and fully available. Subnets are intended to control routing and are not intended for security. Here a case of obscurity than of security, unless enforced at the switches and possibly through switch-level VPNs and/or encryption -- subnetting is quite certainly functional, but not something I would rely on for security. Various malware and many users are fully aware of how to sniff a LAN, after all.
US$500 (10 client) is not expensive for a server operating system FWIW, and Mac OS X Server can be installed on most any Mac system. US$500 and US$1000 (unlimited client) is a small fraction of other widespread choices in the market. One I'm familiar with is US$900 per core plus hardware, and another starts in the low US$2000 range, plus hardware. But yes, taking the plunge with an Xserve and an unlimited client will set you back some US$3000, or more.
If you're specifically looking for VPN capabilities and subnetting, there are potentially hardware-based solutions available. These are hardware devices (switches and routers) that provide the subnetting, and that can provide a firewall with VPN capabilities. These embedded and dedicated devices do not provide the rest of what Mac OS X Server provides, however.

  • PPTP VPN on Server 2008R2 dropping users but acting like it is still connected

    Hello,
I'm having a weird problem and I'm at a loss.  We have a couple of cloud servers that form our remote office system.  Basically, their is 1 DC, 1 Remote Desktop server, and 2 member servers being used as workstations.  The users access these
server and resources via a PPTP VPN setup on the DC using RRAS.  Everything has worked fairly well for the last year, but recently, my users have complained that they get disconnected at random times over the last couple of weeks.  I was able
to observe the behavior yesterday and it goes something like this:
    -The user is working fine
-The user tries to access a share, open a web page, tries to open a remote desktop session or notices that their Outlook client is disconnected and finds that nothing can be reached outside of the local machine.  I tried pinging the DC address,
www.google.com, and the RDP server without success. From the server, I tried pinging the errant workstation without success. The server shows the connection to be active and the workstation does not disconnect the connection. On
one occasion, the problem just rectified itself and everything started working again. On all other occasions, the VPN had to be disconnected and reconnected. Note that some workstations are not reporting this problem.
    -The user disconnects the VPN
-The user reconnects the VPN and usually everything is okay again for awhile, but sometimes they are disconnected within minutes.
This is new behavior, and no changes have been made by me and the Cloud support people tell me they haven't done anything.  At this point, I'm not even sure how to go about troubleshooting it. The next time it happened, I was going to pull an ARP table
to see if anything looks amiss, but the only other avenue I have going is a call into the cloud services support to see if they can look for dropped or filtered information between our main office and our cloud server.
The only part of this setup that is a little bit different for me is the IPv4 settings in the RRAS console under properties of the server. Normally in the IPv4 settings, I select DHCP and allow the users to pull from the existing DHCP server. However, the
cloud support recommended against having a DHCP server, so instead of DHCP, I selected "use static IP address pool." I put 10.216.8.197 to 10.216.8.22 and the subnet mask is picking up from the server as 255.255.255.224 and the default gateway is
picking up from the server as 10.216.8.193.
Does anyone have any advice on how to troubleshoot this problem?  What to try next if the cloud services support doesn't find anything, etc?
    Thanks,
    Jeffery Smith

    Hi Jeffery,
According to your description, the VPN clients can connect the server at the beginning, but when we reconnected after going wrong, they were disconnected within minutes. Maybe the next time it happened, we could follow steps below to troubleshoot this issue.
Use ipconfig /all command in the VPN client when we set up VPN connection, to view which IP address the VPN client obtain.
Pull an ARP table from the VPN client to view the IP Address-Physical Address mappings as you said will help to troubleshoot this issue. The assigned IP address maybe used by other computers.
If the static IP address pool range from 10.216.8.197 to 10.216.8.22, due to the subnet is 255.255.255.224, there are 8 subnet in the 10.216.8.0/27 network. If the static IP address pool consists of ranges of IP addresses that are for a separate subnet,
then we need to either enable an IP routing protocol on the remote access server computer or add static IP routes consisting of the {IP Address, Mask} of each range to the routers of the intranet. If the routes are not added, then remote access clients can’t
receive traffic from resources on the intranet.
    Best Regards,
    Tina

  • Why the LDAP server does not accept any connection upon the installation of iPlanet Application Server Enterprise Edition 6.0 Test Drive Phase II

    (previously submitted to Portal Services/Wireless)

    Hi,
I'm not sure if there are known issues with iAS test drive and Windows 2000 howevere I would like to help you in cracking the error.
The GXBIND error appears only when the iAS is not able to communicate with the directory server. In our case, let us proceed by the following...
    1. Check if the directory server is running. Verify this by checking the services and look for an entry for directory server and it must look something like
"Netscape Directory Server 4.1 (machine name)" and the status is started.
    2. Next, if you are not able to start the console of directory server, then you must check if the directory administrative server is running. This is also verified with the services and look for the entry...
"Netscape Administration Server 4.2" and the status is started.
    3. Next, if both of the above are running, then you need to login to directory server console by using cn=Directory Server and issuing the password. If you are able to login successfully then, iAS will work, if not, then rectify the problem with directory server and I'm sure iAS will work.
    4. If you have forgotten the password for cn=Directory Manager, then there is a work around for fixing the password in directory server and iAS.
Please let the outcome once you have done this.

  • Test JDBC Driver For SQL Server 2000 Failed

    Hi:
I have trouble setting up the database connection using jdbc driver in the studio, could anyone help me please? I have MS SQL 2000 MSDE installed on my local machine. I downloaded and installed the JDBC Driver for MSSQL 2000 from Microsoft.
I put the following jar files into the/lib/ext/ directory
    msbase.jar
    mssqlserver.jar
    msutil.jar
In Studio 4.1 EE, I went to Runtime>Databases>Drivers, Add a new Driver with these information:
    Name: MSSQL Driver
    Driver: com.microsoft.jdbcx.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource
    URL Prefix: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://localhost:<PORT>[;DatabaseName=<DB>]
Next I run the Test Driver...
    Database URL: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<machineName>\\<instanceName>;DatabaseName=<xxx>
    User: <username>
    Password: <password>
I receieved the a popup box and message in the output window:
Internal test driver incomplete. the driver may not support the required DatabaseMetadata methods. take a look at the Output Window for details.
Warning: No tables were found. Check your database.
Warning: No views were found. Check your database
Warning: No procedures were found. Check your database.
    Your replies are greatly appreciated.

com.microsoft.jdbcx.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource is a very old direct driver. I'd recommend using the DataDirect 3.2 driver. It can be found at:

    Hi,
We are trying to port an existing web-app (runs on WebLogic and JBoss)

Is the iPlanet Application Server 6.0 Service Pack 3 Test Drive "cripple

    Thank You,

    Hello,
If the issue is looking up the bean and you are looking up the bean as you
    would with JBoss or BEA:
    String beanName = "Bean";
    ctx = InitialContext();
    ctx.lookup( beanName );
then you might have the problem there. Atleast this is what we have found
with beans needing to be convered. Change the lookup to be ctx.lookup
("ejb/" + beanName ); and you might be better. I haven't tried it on JBoss
or Bean but ctx.lookup( "java:comp/env/ejb/" + beanName) might work on all
    the different app servers

  • One user has very slow network drives on terminal server.

    Hello,
I am using a windows XP machine to connect to a 2003 terminal server. I have one user that was complaining about how long it took her to open files from a network share. I found that this is a problem with her account as it is slow no matter where she logs
in from. E.G when I log in to the server from my computer as me, it is quite fast, if I do the same but log in as her it is painfully slow accessing the network drives.
Does anyone has any ideas?Kind regards,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    Thank you for your comment.
The issue seems it’s related to network problem, please check the network connection behavior. Network performance issues can also be caused by auto-tuning, because not all network devices support auto-tuning well. So try to disable the autotunning behavior
with below mention command and check the result.
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
In addition check KB 885189 for slowness mapped drive issue to Server 2003. Apart from this, check the below article to make the network connection fast.
    Windows 7 Network Slow
    Hope it helps!

  • Max Allowed Users on N4S Test Drive?

    Hi All,
I didn't notice in the License agreement any reference to the maximum permitted number of users on the N4S Test Drive - to save me having to trawl through looking for the license agreement again, does anyone know what this is?
I want to create about 400 users using SECATT so that I can test mass user creation, usergroup auths etc. Admittedly I could do this with far less users, but I'd like to make it as realistic as possible.
I'm also looking to lock all but a few user accounts, and set the license details for each user to "Test" - is this acceptable?
    Many thanks.

    > I installed test drive Netweaver 7.1 ABAP/Java on Linux 64 bit. Database is MaxDB. ABAP is working fine, but J2EE stack is not starting. OpenSuSE 11.1 has its own Java virtual machine, but I think I have to install SUN JDK, but wich version?
What's the output of "java -version"?
Can you tell me which of the trials you're installing? You're sure it's 7.1 and not 7.01? For the latter you need the IBM JDK 1.4.2 for Linux x64.

  • OS X Server - User management

    Hey all,
I am thinking of getting the new Mac Mini with OS X Server as a replacement for an old home server. It would run email, web server, calendar, and FTP. It looks like managing these things in OS X Server is rather easy as long as each user is an OS user.
The problem is most users are not on-site, so they would need a means of managing their login password remotely. Is there an interface that allows remove password changing for users?

I'm not aware of an organization that provides a test-drive for Mac OS X Server, though there might be a related one-on-one or business-oriented class available (for free or for a fee) at a local Apple store.

  • Running "Flex test drive" - Got error while attempting to connect to data service

    Hi,
I'm a Flex / Flash builder beginner. I downloaded the 60 days evaluation, and started to run the "Flex test drive" :
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/testdrive.html
    My configuration :
    XP SP3 PRO french edition
    Tomcat 6.0
My local Eclipse :eclipse-jee-helios-SR2-win32 (but also got the issue on the Flash Builder Eclipse, which version is 3.4.0 (Generation ID M20090211-1700)
Flash Builder 4 with Eclipse plug-in
    All on same PC
The Test Drive proposes examples in three technologies : Cold Fusion, PHP and Java. I'm doing the Java examples.
Installation of Flash Builder, as well as step 1 of the Test Drive (Build the user interface) went fine. I could run the project, which at the end of step 1 correctly displayed the UI in my browser.
Only one problem, I don't know if it is relevant for the rest of this post : I first got an error, saying that ports 8080, 8005 and 8009, requested by Tomcat, where used. After a short Google search, I fixed it by changing these ports to 8081, 8006, and 8010, in the Tomcat 6.0\conf\server.xml file.
The Test drive second step is "Connect to data". I found some discrepancies between the Test Drive doc, and what is displayed in Flash Builder. The Test Drive says :
"Use the Data menu and the Service Wizard to create a service for your application server. For ColdFusion and Java, specify the service file you put on your application server earlier (see Figure 9 for a PHP example). For Java, select the No password required check box, select the employeeService destination, and change the service package to services.employeeservice."
--> But there is no "No password required check box".
Also, when running the "Connect to data/service..." wizard, it was not at first completely clear what to choose. The proposed choices were :
    BlazeDS
    ColdFusion
    HTTP
    LCDS
    PHP
    Web Service
    XML
Since all others choices, when tried, declared to be unconsistent with my project's server type, I finally selected "Web Service".
In the next wizard's form, according to the Test Drive indications, I specified the URI of my EmployeeService class : C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\testdrive\WEB-INF\classes\services\EmployeeService.class
That defined correctly the other fields.
But when pressing the "Next >" button, Flash Builder issued the following error message :
English translation : Unable to extract operations and entities from specified WSDL. Reason : an error occured while instrospecting the service.
And the full error text is :
An error occured while instrospecting the service. WSDLException: faultCode=PARSER_ERROR: Problem parsing 'file:/C:/Program%20Files/Apache%20Software%20Foundation/Tomcat%206.0/webapps/testdrive/W EB-INF/classes/services/EmployeeService.class'.: com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.impl.io.MalformedByteSequenceException: Invalid byte 2 of 2-byte UTF-8 sequence.
It is usually relatively easy to find fixes through Google searches, but this time, it didn't work. So here I am, expecting a bunch of wise answers from all the nice Flex / FB gurus that I'm sure haunt this forum .
    Thanks and best regards.
    Marc.

For those who would have the same problem, here is how I could eventually fix it.
Since the Flex Test Drive is sometimes out of sync with flash builder 4, I recreated a project using other help pages on Adobe site :
    Entry point :
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Flex/4.0/AccessingData/WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-668f02f4120d422cf08- 7ffd.html
As suggested, I used the New Project wizard to create a new project, with :
    Application server type : J2EE
Check the radio button "Use remote object access service : BlazeDS"
Then, as indicated in following pages (section "Accessing BlazeDS")... :
    file:///C:/Mes%20documents%20C/Commun/Developpement/Documentation/HT-Tracks/AccessingData/ help.adobe.com/en_US/Flex/4.0/AccessingData/WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-668f02f4120d422cf08-7ffe.ht ml#WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-19a3f0e0122be55e1b7-8000
...I selected the "Data / Connect to Data/Services..." menu option, which started the Data/service connection wizard.
There, I selected a BlazeDS (and not Web Services) service type, and everything went fine.
Suggestion to adobe staff : maybe it would be useful to update the Flex Test Drive to reflect Flash Builder 4 ?
Very nice product anyway, so far, congratulations...
    Rgds
    Marc.

    Regards,
    Tom Rowe

    Hi Rajagopal,
Thanks for your reply after doing some further investigations this morning I found and corrected the problem...
The DataDirect Driver does not like double quotes in the query for some reason, testing  using the BI Answers generated SQL with the nqcmd tool below...
With double quotes “” it fails immediately
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706."Id" as c1, T18706."UserName" as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706."UserName" = 'trowe' )
    select T18706."Id" as c1, T18706."UserName" as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706."UserName" = 'trowe' )
[102][State: S1000] [DataDirect][ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near 'Id'.
    Statement execute failed
With double quotes removed for just the columns I now get the Error near ‘ETMS_Users’ which still had the double quotes
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from "ETMS_Users" T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    [102][State: S1000] [DataDirect][ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol driver][Microsoft SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near 'ETMS_Users'.
    Statement execute failed
With all double quotes removed it works !
    Give SQL Statement: select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from ETMS_Users T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    select T18706.Id as c1, T18706.UserName as c2 from ETMS_Users T18706 where ( T18706.UserName = 'trowe' )
    c1           c2
    42499        trowe
    Row count: 1
    Give SQL Statement:
The solution to fix the problem is...
In the BI Admin Tool Physical Layer Database, Properties Features tab is to delete the double quote in the Value column for IDENTIFIER_QUOTE_CHAR, setting this in the DBFeatures.INI file does not resolve the problem possibly it did in earlier versions of the product.

  • How to use JCo Provider Service w/Sneak Preview and Test Drive

I have both SAP Web AS Sneak Preview (6.40) and MiniWas 6.20 Test Drive installed on a single system.  I have implemented a Java server program which can be RFC called from an ABAP program using JCO.
The only disadvantage to this process is that I must manually run the server program each time I bring up the J2EE system.
I would like to set things up so that when I start the WebAS 6.40 J2EE system, the server function can be automatically registered (if I'm using the correct terminology - not at all sure about that...).  It looks to me that I should be able to use JCo Provider Service to do what I want to do, but I don't know how to do any of the session bean creation and I esp. can't seem to find out how to run the  J2EE Visual Administrator, which the documentation I've found leads me to believe needs to be used.
Is there a tutorial, or example, that will lead me through this entire process?  I have the ABAP calling program working OK, and I have the Java JCo server program working ok - I just want to create something in Java that will operate like a good old C Language function installed as an RFM.
Can anyone help? Is it possible?

    Stefan:
Well, I guess I'm stuck at the first step.
As I understand it, I have to use the Visual Administrtor to register the Web AS 6.40 Sneak Preview system as an RFC destination.  When I bring up the Visual Administrator, it has essentially two tabs showing: Dispatcher and Server.  It's inviting me to define a connection and Login.  So, Q1: Is it inviting me to login to the J2EE or the Web AS?  Either way, I am never able to login - I get this error:
    com.sap.engine.services.security.exceptions.BaseLoginException: Cannot create new RemoteLoginContext
I used all of the NetWeaver sneak preview defaults when installing, and I recorded these:
    Type               Account
    OS User            Compaq-laptop/J2EAdm
    OS User            Compaq-laptop/SAPServiceJ2E
    DB User            SAPJ2EDB
    J2EE Engine User   Administrator
    J2EE Engine User   Guest
Q2:  Is it possible to do what I'm trying to do with the Sneak Preview system?
Or am I trying to connect and logon to the Web AS 6.20 Test Drive (I don't think so...)?  I used the defaults when installing the Test Drive, and have these users:
    BCUSER
    DDIC
Is it one of these I should be logging onto?
Also, Visual Administrator wants a port specified on the J2EE Engine connection paramters - what port should I be specifiying?
Can you get me past this dilemma, Stefan?  Thanks...

  • Reader wont use print driver on print server

I recently posted this question on the user forum, my mistake, I know all the really smart people are over here!
I have developed a print-driver with a very special purpose - it launches an application on the machine on which it is installed - and which also has an electronic signature pad connected to it - and captures a handwritten signature and embeds that into the pdf file just printed, keeping the document in electronic form.
This means that if someone using computer A wants the person using computer B to sign a document, they just print that document to computer B's shared instance of this print driver. For this to happen, the print driver on the server computer must be used.
There is an issue of "client-side" rendering implemented by MS since sometime after windows 2000. This can be disabled (at least turned off) and I have done everything I can do to force "server-side" rendering for this print driver.
However, Reader and Acrobat simply won't honor these settings - in all cases these 2 insist on using the local copy of the driver (which must exist on the local computer too - windows now copies that driver from the server each time the server driver is updated).
ALL other applications that I've tested faithfully send the document to the server's driver (though they also "exercise" the local driver for some reason, I can see this through logging when it is activated - but I cannot see where/why the printing subsystem is making the decision to forward it on).
To recap - other applications faithfully "render" using the server's driver on the server machine, Acrobat and Reader render using the client driver on the client machine.
I am more than willing to develop a print provider, print processor, or port monitor for my print driver - if I knew enough about which one of these is best targeted for this particular problem. It was hair pulling enough to figure out how to do the driver to begin with, this time I'd really appreciate any advice about which one of these I need to tackle rather than spend days developing one realizing I should have developed the other.
Or ... if there is something I need to set in Reader/Acrobat properties OR something in the print driver itself (which is, BTW, based on MS pscript5, i.e., not monolithic) that I might need to do ?
Thanks very much for the help
    Nate Clark

    Hi,
Have you tried the following steps:
    1. Delete the printer from control panel -> printers
    2. Open Services.msc and stop and start the Print Spooler service
    3. Open Print Management(Open command prompt, type in printmanagement.msc or type print management in to the start menu search box)
    4. In Custom Filters -> All Drivers right click the printer driver you want to remove and select Remove Driver Package
    Thanks.

  • Mavericks server alerts and User account questions

    Hi
I'm looking for more detailed information about setting up Alerts in Mavericks Server, plus I seem to have a strange problem with new user accounts when setting up.
    More Info.
I have a Mac Mini acting almost 100% exclusively as a Time Machine backup device with encryption of three portable computers on a wired network.  This was originally set up three years using Snow Leopard Server and a 2Tb external FireWire Drive.
The external drive is now proving too small, and in any case is showing the possible first signs of failure when tested, so the intention is to replace it with a RAID of some sort, probably a 2-drive RAID 1 device but if the budget allows we might be able to look at RAID 5 or 6 units.
It seems a good opportunity to clean install Mavericks Server on the Mini, so I've set up a test station on my MacBook Pro with my Mac Pro (both running 10.9.2) as a test backup client.  The Server OS is on an external FireWire boot drive, and the TM backup folders are on another external, in this case a USB 3.0
For obvious reasons there does not seem to be any reason to turn on more services than absolutely necessary, so just Time Machine and File Sharing for the moment.  All works well but I can't seem to get Alerts working.  I've listed 3 different eMail addresses (all mine) for the alerts to be sent to, and I have two Admin Accounts for Notifications, both using the same AppleID I set the Server software up with.  I've gone through the rather sparse setup help information carefully, and there is no information about additional services being required, although I did try setting up the Mail client (tested sending and receiving) on the Server and having it running whilst the backups were being tested.
As I said, the test backups went fine and when I disconnected the backup drive from the Server to simulate a failed drive the TM on the Mac Pro client showed an alert saying the backup drive could not be found.  However, there were no emails or Notifications received, either on the Mac Pro or my iPhone from the Server.
There seems to be minimal amount of information available about the workings of Mavericks Server, but I have gone through what I can additionally find online about Mountain Lion Server, with no real indication of what it is that I am missing.  The only instructions seem to be exactly what I've done, so your advice would be appreciated.
Another thing that puzzles me, is that when restarting the MacBook Pro I get all the Admin and Standard User Accounts (created in Server.app) showing at the login screen.  This is only four Accounts in total, so what would happen if this was 50 Users?  If I click on the 'User' tab in Server.app I get 83 User Accounts showing, but that was not the case until this evening, as only the Admin and Stardard User Accounts I had set up were visible.
It's obviously possible that I've mucked up the install and basic setup somehow, but I can't see that anything I've done would have these effects as I've been careful to follow the options put in front of me.
    Thank you in advance.

There's nothing to fetch. You assign the value from the function GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(USERNAME); as you would any value returned from a function.
    DECLARE
       myVar    VARCHAR2(50);
    BEGIN
       myVar := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(USERNAME);
    END;Hope this helps.

  • Driver for SQL server with wlserver can't start at all and "no suitable driver" and

    Hi all,
After I download the jDriver for Ms sql 2000 server, I set the classpath as document
told, I test it using the utils.dbping it works fine. But when I try to use it
with the weblogic server 6.1 I have the problem as following:
I included the jDriver classes in the classpath of the startWeblogic.cmd as
    set CLASSPATH=.;.\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;.\lib\weblogic.jar;C:\weblogic\mssqlserver4v70\classes
saved the startWeblogic.cmd file Then I start the wls with startWeblogic.cmd(the
new classpath). It starts fine Then I setup the connection sql pool using the
weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver It says "No suitable driver"
I found that in the weblogic.jar(shipped with the weblogic 6.1) and in the jDriver
classes, there are two files which have the same name is weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver.
Because in the classpath .\lib\weblogic.jar comes first so weblogic server takes
weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver of the weblogic.jar rather than in the jDriver
classes directory. So I thought the matter of changing the order in the classpath
    (.\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;C:\weblogic\mssqlserver4v70\classes;.\lib\weblogic.jar")
will solve the problem, but when I changed the oder in the classpath the weblogic
server did not start AT ALL with the following errror.
    ------------------Begin error----------------------------

I wonder how can I use the jDriver with weblogic server?
Do you have any idea what I have done wrong or how to get around with this problem?

Hi Joe, Thanks for your fast reply. No problem. They pay me to be hear on weekdays ;-)
So what you tell me the driver for MSSQL 2000 is in the weblogic.jaris that
    correct.yes.
    And my connection pool definition:
    <JDBCConnectionPool DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver"
    MaxCapacity="5" Name="mySQLPool"
    Properties="user=sa;db=ejb20;hostname=XXX;password=realpassword;appname=ejb20Phone;server=ivm_server:1433"
Targets="" URL="jdbc:weblogic:mySqlPool"/>I see the problem. The URL is broken. It should be the URL that the particular
    driver wants, eg:
    jdbc:weblogic:mssqlserver4:ivm_server
Then set the pool's Properties to have the user, password, appname, and
db. (no server needed, it's in the URL, and 1433
    is default)
    thanks,
    Joe
I have the port as doc suggest 1433 but it would not help me.
    Please help
    Thanks Joe

Hi. Our ms driver is already in the plain 6.1 jar file, so there is
    no
    need for the additional
driver download or classes in the server path. Dbping should workwith
    just the server
weblogic.jar etc in your classpath. What is the error you got originally
    trying to use
the MS driver with/in weblogic? Show me your pool definition. That's
    probably where the
    problem will be...

  • Test drive my iWeb site...

    Hey,
Would like opinions and comments, useful suggestions about my site. Need to put it out there and give it a test drive before we move to our own domain.
Thanks for all your opinions in advance!
    http://web.mac.com/neil.simpson

    Great work!
    Now on to some issues:
File names. Avoid any punctuation and spaces in any file name (including the names of the html files). Many FTP programs do not upload files with spaces or illegal characters. Use - or _ in their place.
Yep. Looks ugly but it's the only way to upload files on many servers.
    Part%20Of%20The%20Team would become PartOf_TheTeam
    http://web.mac.com/neil.simpson/iWeb/LeedsNavy/Leeds%20Navyfiles/IMG3544%20%28Large%29.png
Is nearly 500 KB's and its size slows down page loading for those of us using dial-up. It takes about 3 minutes to load that sized file over dial-up (50% of Web users).
Use an image editing app to "scale" the dimensions to your page design prior to uploading. Save it in .jpg format because you can get a great deal more compression on the file as opposed to the .png format. It should be less than 30KB's.
Before you go through all of this extra work and editing of pages you should contact your Web server (host). They can tell you about the spaces in file names issue and give more advice.
