Test Email Notifications

Hi All,
In Version 9.3.1, inside Workspace, there is a provision in Notifications to test if emails are being sent properly through the SMTP configuration.
However, in Version 11.1.1.3, I could not find the same option in Notifications tab in Workspace.
Can someone please suggest on the same.

Substituting corporate email server with something local like Argosoft is a good idea but not a 100% test since most problems occur when you talk to corporate email server.

You unsubscribed from Forum in general by at top of screen and click on topic (in this example it would be Forum Comments)
You should see a similar window Toggle there and you will be unsubcribed from the Forum:
Now you will unsubscribed to the Forum.
Its done this was so that if you post in a particular forum you can set to stay subscribed to give thread without getting any other notifactions if you don't wish.

Testing email notification in workspace 11.1.1.3

I have been trying to test e mail notification on workspace. However there is no tab similar to Hyperion 9.3.1 which allowed testing e mail notifications. Please guide us.

yeah have configured the alerter service already during the installation itself but even then we are facing the problem. Actually after configuring the alerter service, the alerter reports is showing that the mail has been trigerred and sent to the receipient mail id. But the receipient is not getting any such mails.Unable to figure out wer lies the exact problem.

Email notifications not being received

Email notifications are not being received every time a customers submits data. We stopped receiving notifications after the email came about shutting down the service. We have a half dozen forms live on the web and none of them are sending out notifications. One example is located at Online Complaint | ORCAA. Nothing has changed from the backend and both email addresses that should receive notifications are verified.
I submitted data to the form and received a notification, but not the 2 email addresses that are listed on the FormsCentral backend. The Adobe domain is whitelisted with GApps.
Thoughts?

I've tested your form a bit and it seems that email receipts are working. For me to test email notifications I would need to be a co-author. If you can add me to one of the problem forms I will investigate further and let you know what I find.

Stopping email notifications post cloning

Hi,
I have a situation here. I have already cloned the Production and cloned instance is ready and running. For testing some notifications, i did the following so that all users doesn't get the notifications.
a) Disabled all the alerts defined using Oracle Alerts
b) update WF_NOTIFICATIONS set mail_status = 'SENT' where mail_status = 'MAIL';
c) Used email overriding options and put my email id there.
After doing all these I started the smtp service on the server. In spite of this, many users got mail from the TEST server. Did I miss something? How to prevent it completely and still retaining the capabilities of testing email notifications.

How can resend email notification

Hi experts,
Yesterday night, we have an issue with the server so that email did not go out last night. Today we fixed it. It's working now. However, I found out there are so many emails still in WF_NOTIFICATION table with MAIL_STATUS = 'MAIL', and STATUS = 'OPEN', and they also exist in WF_ERROR. How do I resend them?
Apps version: 11.5.10.2
DB: 9.2.0.8
Os: Solaris 8

Hi,
First confirm that the notification mailer is sending mails by sending a test mail using "Test Mailer".
Please see "How to send a test email notification?" in
Workflow Java Mailer & Notifications FAQ [ID 562551.1]
If it is working, then please bounce the concurrent managers and notification mailer to clear the black list users.
Even then if it is not working then, you will have to look for log files in $APPLCSF/$APPLLOG/FNDCPGSC* and check the error.
You might also see step 12 in
A Guide For Troubleshooting Workflow Notification Emails - Inbound and Outbound [ID 831982.1].
If the error cannot be seen, then enable the logging. Please see "How to increase the log level for the Workflow Components?" in

DAC email notification

Hi ,
I have configured the DAC smtp server properly, the email notification TEST is working and im getting the TEST email notification
But i dont get any email notification when the ETL finished to run.
sould i configure the ETL execution plan or somthing?
any one has an idea?

Step 1) Go to Tools-->then DAC Server management-->then DAC Server setup. There is a tab for email. make sure your email configurations is done(port-25; email server; email address). Then send test email. If config is successful. Do step 2
Step 2) Register your email in DAC setup-->Email tab. Ours is default to Setup level #10 . I tried 1 and 5 ours didnt work.

DAC email notification not working.even if we get test mail.

DAC clients are installed in Windows machine (Remote) and DAC servers are installed on UNIX platform.
I have set up the smtp configuration in DAC client.i am also getting test mail.
But after my schedule load completion i am not getting email notification.
my question to be specific:
1)can we getting email notification if we r having DAC server and client on 2 seperate platform.
any help on this issue will be very helpful.if yes then how can it be done.

Test an Oracle Event Alert in a Dev instance - email notification disabled

My client is on Oracle 11.5.10.2 and I have a requirement to develop an Event Alert. Problem is, in our development instance, client has disabled the email notification functionality, so I am really not able to check if the alert is sent/received and the format of the alert being sent. I checked the trigger on the table on which the event alert is created and confirmed that the trigger is created and also confirmed that on updating on the table from the form - a concurrent program '<table_name> (Check Event Alert)' is getting called by passing the table name and the ROWID of the row that got updated. Now, is there anyway I can check if the alert is working correctly?

The reason that the email notification is disabled is, the dev instance is a copy of prod and there are a bunch of notifications being sent to multilple people in PROD, so enabling email notification in DEV would create problems as it would sent notifications to people which is not intended.The work around would be little tricky but if you think you can give a try.

SharePoint Foundation 2013 installed on Windows Server 2012 not sending out email notification

I have a server where i installed SP Foundation 2013 on top of Windows Server 2012. I have configured the SMTP as well as the outgoing SMTP in Central Administration
of SharePoint. When i create an alert on a document library, its did not sent any email notification on the changes made to the document in the document library. So, i created a workflow to send out email using SPD2013. The workflow run, but it cannot sent
out email with error saying that outgoing email is not configured correctly. I have checked with another server which i installed SP foundation 2013 on top of Windows Server 2008 R2 - its sending out email just fine using same configuration and outgoing SMTP.
I need help to resolve this issue or at least the cause of the problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Go to Central Admin ---->Operations----->outgoing email settings and verify that SMTP server is mentioned correctly
2) Test the connectivity with the SMTP server.
In order to do that follow these steps:
Open cmd
telnet <SMTP server name> 25 ( We connect smtp server to the port 25)
you should see a response like this 220 <servername> Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790.3959 ready at date and time
Beware that different servers will come up with different settings but you will get something
If you dont get anything then there could be 2 possible reasons, either port 25 is blocked or
the smtp server is not responding.
For testing response from your server
For testing response say ehlo to it.

3) Check alerts are enabled for your web application
verify if the windows timer service is running or not.
Run this stsadm command to check that
Stsadm.exe -o getproperty -url http://SharePoint-web-App-URL -pn alerts-enabled
This should return <Property Exist="Yes" Value="yes" />
If you don’t get this, Enable alerts by:
stsadm.exe -o setproperty -pn alerts-enabled -pv "true" -url http://SharePoint-web-App-URL
If its already enabled, try turn off and turn on it back.
4) Check the Timer job and Properties
Go to
MOSS 2007: Central Administration > Operations > Timer Job Definitions (under Global Configuration)
In SharePoint 2010: Central Administration > Monitoring > Review Job Definitions
Check whether the "Immediate Alerts" job is enabled for your web application. check these properties:
job-immediate-alerts
job-daily-alerts
job-weekly-alerts
stsadm.exe -o getproperty -url "http://Your-SharePoint-web-App-URL" -pn job-immediate-alerts
The expected output is:
<Property Exist="Yes" Value="every 5 minutes between 0 and 59"/>.
If you don’t get this, run the following command to set its value.
stsadm.exe -o setproperty -pn job-immediate-alerts -pv “every 5 minutes between 0 and 59" -url http://Your-SharePoint-web-App-URL
5) Check whether the account is subscribed for alerts and it has a valid email account. This should be the first thing to check if the problem persists for some users not for all.
6) Then check if at all those users have at least read permission for the list. Because the first mail should go out for every user without security validation but the next ones won't be delivered unless the user has at least read
permission.
7) If it is happening for one user, can also try to delete and re add the user in the site.
8) Most importantly , you should try this one.
Run this SQL query to the content db < Select * from Timerlock>
This will give you the name of the server which is locking the content database and since when.
In order to get rid of that lock
Go to that server which is locking the content db and then restart the windows timer service.
within some time it should release the lock from content db, if not then at the most stop the timer job for some time
Once the lock will be released then try to send some alerts
You will surely get the email alert.
I found this is the most probable reason for alert not working most of the time. We should start troubleshooting with above steps before coming to this step for any alert email issue but from step 1 to step 7 are best for new environments or new servers.
If the issue is like this ,alert was working before and suddenly stopped working without any environmental change then above conditions in step 1-7 should be ideally fine.
Even after this if it is not working, then you can try these few more steps too
9) Try re-registering the alert template:
stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url http://Your-SharePoint-Web-App-URL -f "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\XML\alerttemplates.xml" -LCID 1033
10) Try to clear the configuration cache

If you look at RFC821 (Request For Comments memo 821 describes the SMTP specifications), you'll see that the sender and recipient needs to be supplied in the format +<[email protected]>+, e.g. +<[email protected]>+.
I have found that not all SMTP servers are equal in this regard. Some may insist on the brackets around the address, some may not.
You need to confirm the format of the addresses you use in the "+MAIL FROM+" and "+RCPT TO+" commands.. and ensure that these formats are accepted by your SMTP server - and if not, change your code to use an acceptable format.
The easiest way to do this is using telnet - and interacting directly and manually with the server. SMTP is a clear text protocol and easy to use manually. Try it. It is the best way to test SMTP interaction and validate the approach and SMTP commands and arguments used by your code.

Cannot send email notification to more than one people

The below is mesage it displays in the body where as it should appear as html page. Three days back it had worked proper but off sudden it changed. The code is same.
