Test Enterprise Voice using existing PBX

Hi- I have a standard Lync deployment. Also have a VoIP system using a Mitel 3300 ICP. Do you know of a way to use the Mitel to test Lync Enterprise Voice without interrupting my current VoIP service?
Thanx
You should never, never doubt what nobody is sure about. -Willy Wonka

I'm not a Mitel expert by any means, but I have worked with Mitel experts to connect a SIP trunk from a 3300 ICP to Lync.  It's not qualified for 2013, but it works well enough for a test and was qualified for 2010:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dn788945
You'll likely have to license the SIP trunks based on the number of concurrent calls you'd like to pass through the systems.
There's  a guide here:
http://blog.insidelync.com/2014/03/direct-sip-integration-between-mitel-communications-director-mcd-and-microsoft-lync-server-2013/
But basically, you set up a trunk between Mitel and Lync, pick a few numbers, send the calls for those numbers from Mitel to Lync and allow outbound calls from Lync.

  • Outlook Delegate Showing up in Lync even when Enterprise Voice is disabled

    Hi, we have encountered an issue in our testing phase of Lync 2013 deployment.
    Users are noticing after they sign into Lync for the first time they are getting messages saying "You were added as a delegate for Employee Name".
    These users were at some point in time, set as a delegate for Employee Name, but delegation has since been removed. If we go into the Employee's Outlook and check their delegate settings nothing is listed there.
    What's even more perplexing (and nonsensical from a design point of view) is that since we do not have Enterprise Voice in our environment, users aren't able to go into Lync and delete/manage delegates. Without EV enabled, the "Call Forwarding"
    tab in Options does not show. Why would the management of delegates not be available in Options if the Lync Client is still able to perform delegation of Lync Calls? What a silly oversight.
    Not only that, but why would Lync even pull delegation settings from Outlook when a user isn't even enabled for Enterprise Voice? So someone wants to give access to their calendar, they are automatically giving rights to that person to make Lync calls on
    their behalf too? I don't see any option in Outlook delegates that manages these permissions. This simply doesn't make sense and I'm dumbfounded as to why MS wouldn't have fixed this in 2013, considering it was also an issue in 2010:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/3dbfb19a-c8dd-4d66-bba3-c9865a457625/how-do-i-remove-a-lync-delegation
    Is there some other way to remove ghost delegates from Lync user accounts?
    Environment is Lync 2013 Standard + Exchange / Outlook 2010.

    You can use the Tool SEFAUTil.
    This tool can modify delegation settings.
    For detailed steps, you can refer to the following blog:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/scottstu/archive/2014/03/30/configuring-delegation-for-lync-users-that-are-not-enterprise-voice-enabled.aspx
    To remove a delegate, use the parameter /removedelegate instead of /adddelegate in the blog.

  • Enterprise Voice and Lync Meeting Outlook Add-In, Dial in Numbers

    I ran across something that I was unaware of and wanted to double check here.
    Background:  I am running a two pool Lync 2013 Enterprise Deployment with an OCS pool being phased out.  All users are migrated to Lync backend using the OCS client but our conferencing numbers still exist on the OCS deployment.
    As man know, when you upgrade to the Lync client, it removes the Outlook add-in for conferencing and places a single button for scheduling conference calls and meetings.  Ideally, depending on the pool the user is on, the information that is populated
    in the meeting request comes from the pool they are assigned to.
    I have found that without enabling Enterprise Voice and setting the voice policy to Automatic, Outlook will still use the OCS numbers in the meeting request.  Once I enable EV for a user and set the VP to Auto, they receive the correct numbers based
    on pool registrar.
    I am still currently searching but what I would like is confirmation that I do need to enable Enterprise Voice with Voice Policy set to automatic to have Outlook obtain the correct numbers for the pool any user is registered to.

    I don’t believe the enable Enterprise Voice and assigning a dial plan can change the behavior of the Outlook add-in.
    The process is like this:
    The conference organizer uses Microsoft® Outlook® to schedule a conference, and then Outlook communicates with Microsoft Lync Server 2010 by using an Outlook add-in that is included as part of the Microsoft® Lync™ 2010 installation. Outlook
    uses the information supplied by the server to create a new invitation, which includes a conference URL for attendees who are joining the conference by using one of the supported Lync clients, and telephone numbers and a conference ID for attendees who are
    joining by phone.
    When you mentioned OCS numbers, did you refer to Lync dial-in access number or conference ID?

  • Dial out without Enterprise Voice

    I see that the enterprise CAL includes:
    Initiate/Schedule ad-hoc multi-party (3+) audio conference (including dial-out to PSTN and/or PBX user)
    I am able to dial in (from PSTN) to a conference. However, when I launch a meeting from the meet URL and choose to call me at my extension (1234) I get error:
    Cannot locate 1234.
    When I turn on enterprise voice for my user and do the same test the call goes through fine to my extension.

    While dial-out is officially 'unsupported' by Microsoft for non-EV users:

  • Migrating a test site to an existing BC site

    I am trying to migrate a site creating as a trial using a BC GURUS template to an existing e-commerce site hosted by BC.
    Is there any easy way to do this without having to recreate modules, web forms, etc - basically all the work I did with the trial?  I'd love to just ditch the existing site and go with the new one, but I would be forfeiting customer orders, cases, and pretty much all reports, etc, right?
    In the future I am definitely creating a test directory within the existing site to avoid this mess, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Lync delegate access without Enterprise Voice enabled

    I need the delegate access functionality but due to our current configuration we do not (yet) have enterprise voice setup or enabled. We have assistants that are scheduling meetings on behalf of others and need the conferencing functionality. I

  • How to test whether a table exists in database?

    How can I test whether a table exists in a database before I execute a query? If the table doesn't exist, I want first create a default table with certain name so that I can always display something in JTable.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    There are tow ways :
    The first one is :
    - load the list of tables of the Database in a Vector for exemple by using methode DatabaseMetaData.getTables () and you can test if the table exist or not in the vector by using methode Vector.contains(Object o).
    The code seems Like that :
    // Loading List Of Tables
    // you need to load the list of tables at the begening of
    // your class
    Vector listOfTables = new Vector();
    try
    rs = yourConnection.getMetaData().getTables();
    while (rs.next())
    listOfTables.addElement(rs.getString(3));
    catch(SQLException exp)
    // When you need to test the existance of table name
    // you add this line
    if(listOfTables.contains(tableName))
    // your code
    The second one :
    try
    //execute your query
    catch
    //Create your default JTable
    I hope that my response can help you!

  • Tried to add JUnit Test in Eclipse -- "Test type does not exist" error

    Hi guys,
    I'm developing an assignment whose details I won't bother going into -- it's enough to say that we were introduced to JUnit testing a couple of weeks ago in university tutorials, and I've stupidly tried to add one to my project without fully understanding it all. This is in eclipse 3.1.1.
    Basically, I followed eclipse's built-in tutorial called "Writing and running JUnit tests ".
    1) Created class "TestFailure" with method "testFailure".
    public void testFailure() throws Exception {
        fail();
    } 2) This then appeared as a .java file in my project (as well as on my UML diagram, courtesy of Omondo's UML plugin).
    3) I decided it was too risky mucking around with this stuff in a "live" project, so went ahead and deleted the TestFailure icon on my class diagram.
    4) I closed down eclipse.
    5) I went ahead and deleted TestFailure.java and TestFailure.class from my project folders.
    6) I opened my project again, and tried to execute...
    ... and now I keep getting a Test type does not exist error when I try and run it.
    How on earth do I get rid of this?
    Any advice/guidance is greatly appriciated -- oh, how I wish I'd not started messing with JUnit testing!!! :)

    Um, okay -- I fully hold my hands up and admit that I don't know what I'm doing with JUnit testing (we only had a half hour intro to it) but figured I may as well learn by using the official tutorials. It's always a good place to start! Although obviously using a current assignment isn't the best idea ;)
    I was executing my main class (obviously with my main method in there) to execute the program after I'd deleted test case classes, but strangely I've just shut down my machine and restarted and it's working fine. I'm not sure what the deal is here -- lesson learnt though, study new topics on a dummy project! :)
    Anyway, if I waited until I understood the software and code I'm producing to its fullest, I think hell'd freeze over before I executed any code! :) Using a tutorial to learn a new aspect of software I'm already familiar with wasn't a bad move, IMHO. Just using it on this particular project was... Needless stress and all that.

  • Lync Enterprise Voice Deployment - Can't get SIP trunks to work

    Hey guys,
    So i'm doing a proof-of-concept for Lync 2013 Enterprise voice. I've just purchased two sip trunks with 3 DIDs. I've followed their directions but have had no luck making outgoing PSTN numbers. I always get the error message "Disconnected service unavailable".
    I did some troubleshooting with their tech support, did some logging with Lync & gave them our SIP Logs.
    Here is what they told me back:
    I have reviewed the log and found the following:
    Your logs state the below:
    Direction: outgoing;source="local"
    Peer: lync2013.network.caedm.ca:5070
    sip:[email protected]:5070
    ß this particular line states to send the call of 780-719-8033 to 208.82.88.120 at port 5070. Please change this to port 5060.
    In your outbound To field you have the following:
    To: <sip:7807198033;phone-context=[email protected];user=phone>;epid=EC06E70A33;tag=b91b46715a
    Please change this to reflect: To:
    sip:[email protected];user=phone>;epid=EC06E70A33;tag=b91b46715a
    Where can I set the outgoing port to 5060? In the topology builder I have already configured the listening port under "PSTN gateway" to be TCP 5060. I don't see anything in the topology builder relating to outgoing ports, only "listening ports".
    Thanks.

    Looks exactly the same as mine. (I also use a SIP trunk.)
    I assume you can ping the SIP provider from your mediation server? (and telnet to TCP 5060) without any issue.
    Sorry, try netstat -ano
    You should have some entries that look this: (where 10.0.0.3 is your mediation servers local IP)

    Is this 8MB "Boot" partition (formatted as FAT???) something you created when you partitioned this disk for the Windows XP installation, or is this an 8MB OEM partition that you've somehow assigned drive letter C: to?
    I wouldn't be surprised at all that your error message is being generated because thsi "BOOT" partition, labelled as drive C:, is only 8MB in size, and you can be absolutely positive that an 8MB partition is going to generate this error: "Setup was unable to use existing system partition because it does not contain the required free space."
    The correct answer really depends on whether that drive C: is the boot (sic) (the proper terminology is to call it the system partition) partition for the Windows XP installation. If it is, then you're going to have some repair work to do on your Windows XP installation first, so that you can free up that 8MB partition.
    In any event, I'm fairly certain that the solution is going to require the removal of that 8MB partition, as you've suggested in your most recent post.
