Test environment for exchange servers

Hi All,
We are consulting company and I want to learn exchange functionality. Do you think I will be able to test it? Does oracle has any test exchange server environment? How do I get neccessary registration done on oracle.exchange?

Thanks DareDevil57.   Here is the output of the command you requested I run:
Name                                          Status
CopyQueue ReplayQueue LastInspectedLogTime   ContentIndex
Length    Length                             State
MailboxDB1\EXCH03                             Dismounted      0
0                                  Failed
MailboxDB2\EXCH03                             Dismounted      0
0                                  Failed
I have removed the downed server from the DAG, but cannot re-add it because we are only allowed two server in the environment.  I'll have to lookup how to update the catalog.  I read through Paul's post, but the only responses I was getting when
running the commands was that because there is only one copy of the database on the server.
I'll let you know how it goes with updating the catalog.  Let me know if you think of anything else.

  • Setting up test environment for EBS

    Hi all !
We have r12 setup on RHEL 5.7 servers with SAN storage and 11.1.0.7 database. What are the best practices for setting up test environment for testing patches, fixes, etc. ? Should the test env be an exact replica of the production setup ? What if we can no more get the same hardware as our prod env now (due to technology enhancements from the vendors, etc.) ?
    Thanks in advance !

VinodYour TEST/Patch instance does not necessarily need to match your production in terms of hardware specs. However, you need to make sure you are running on the same OS and updates. UAT instance is the one that needs to be running on a hardware which is identical (or very close) to production.

  • SSL-Problems when setting up a test environment with Exchange

    Hello everyone,
I am trying to set up a test environment with Exchange 2013 to learn how the stuff works. However, I am facing some problems due to the fact that Exchange is designed for use with SSL certificates. The main thing that makes problems is the connection with
RPC over HTTP. I've used the MS remote connectivity analyzer to find out why it is not working and as I thought it is because of a missing SSL certificate (it seems the self signed doesn't work here). Now in order to get this working I just bought a certificate
for "mydomain.com". Now here is the first problem: This certificate is NOT a wildcard certificate. So if I understood correctly it works for mydomain.com but it won't work for subdomain.mydomain.com. Is this correct? (First question)
If this is correct I will probably another problem: As I said this is a learning-environment so the server is at home behind a router. This means: Only one WAN-IP. I think could get this working by forwarding everything to the Exchange Server (like mydomain.com
goes to the WAN-IP where the router is forwarding everything like port 25 or 443 directly to the exchange Server). This way I wouldn't have any problems I think: mydomain.com has a valid SSL cert, it resolves to my WAN-IP which forwards everything to the internal
Exchange Server. Now here is the problem: I plan to setup a SharePoint Server as well. I thought about using ARR (IIS) to make both available behind the same WAN-IP without using ports inside the url. Ideally the Exchange Server should then be available via
"mail.mydomain.com". This will work fine with ARR but then I probably have SSL problems again? (second question)
Do you have any ideas what I can do to solve such problems? Should I buy another certificate for mail.mydomain.com? But then I would need to buy several certificates (e.g. for autodiscover.mydomain.com to get this working as well). This can become very expensive...
    Thanks!
    Regards
    Christian

    Hi,
For your first question, if there is a single certificate just for “mydomain.com”, it cannot work for subdomain.mydomain.com.
Generally, antodiscover.domain.com is used to access the autodiscover service for external users. If you just need test users to access Exchange server from internal environment, it is not necessary to get a certificate for autodiscover.domain.com.
Therefore, for your second question what I can ensure is that if all URLs that used to connect Exchange from internal and external are configured to mail.mydomain.com with all services(IIS,SMTP,POP,IMAP), there will be no certificate problems in Exchange
    side.

  • SCOM 2007 - OPerations console only for exchange servers.

    HI All,
There is s requirement in my organisation where-in we have to create monitoring /operations console , only for exchange servers is that possible? If yes, can some share the information on the same also, this needs to be done in SCOM 2007 R2.
    Rgs,

    Hi Naren,
If your organisation does not have any restrictions in providing the Administration acces, Then i would sugges you import the Exchange 2010 / 2013 management packs.
    Download link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=692
http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=39039 ( Exchange 2013 M's not compatible with SCOM 2007 R2 as per my understanding)
    Post importing,
Go to the operations console and SCOPE the objects only to Exchange 2010 Monitoring target, So that the console will only display you the Exchange 2010 management pack alerts.
Once in a while remove the SCOPE and clear the other alerts as well and then re scope it back.
Or if you are only monitoring Exchange 2010 then no need to SCOPE at all as there will be no other management packs to throw alerts in SCOM console.
If security is your concern then Make a normal operator account like the below and tell them to SCOPE the objects to Exchange 2010 or give them access to the Web console where the administration tab will be unavailable at all times.
Security scope: Make them a member of This group for limited / only monitoring access:
I Admin access is necessary, Then make them a member of Operationsmanager Admins on the 1st group of the screenshot.

  • Lync test environment on 2 servers

    Hi Techies.
i have recently been setting up a lync test environment in virtualbox succesfully, now i want to do it on physical hardware.
    reqs.
    - must be installed on only 2 servers with 3 nics each (1 for ILO)
    - must contain: AD DC, AD CA, Lync FE and Lync Mediation server
my question is mostly if i can install the the AD and mediation serrver on the same OS? as this would solve my problem.
I already know that AD can be installed on same machine as FE.
i want the setup to be something like:
AD+mediation: 1. NIC = connected to 192.168.1.xx, 2. NIC = public IP (for SIP trunk), 3. NIC = ILO (remote installation)
LYNC FE: 1. NIC = connected to 192.168.1.xx, 2. NIC = not connected, 3. NIC = ILO (remote installation)
anyone know if this is possible?

    Hi,
Lync roles are not supported for collocation with a Domain Controller, this includes front-end, mediation and any other Lync role.
That said, several people were able to achieve such collocation (like http://itbasedtelco.wordpress.com/2012/02/04/installing-lync-on-a-domain-controller/)
but be aware you would be running an unsupported configuration and not guaranteed to work.

  • Local test Environment for DW CS4

    Hi,
I'm a novice to this. So please be patient with me.
I'm using Dreamweaver CS4 and also installed on my PC XAMPP for windows.
I'd like to practice  with DW by taking  someone's  CSS Template and adopt it to my needs: both Text and Graphics.
Please explain how my design(changes) to template would interact with the XAMMP and what are the best ways to get the most out of this learning experiense.
    Thank you, Ben

    Hi,
I perhaps did not express myself well by posting the question. What I'm really asking is how to use local( my PC) server before going to the real  remote one. What are the procedures of using it while practicing with a template.
    Thanks, Ben

  • Exchange Server 2010 SP3 test environment - email flow to/from internet

Today I set up test environment for Exchange Server 2010 SP3 - domain controller running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Exchange Server 2010 SP3 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and client computer running Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 with Outlook Pro 2010 x64. These
machines are VMs on vSphere 5.0 cluster made of 4 esxi 5.0 hosts.
I have three years of experience in working with Exchange Server 2010 in my production environment but until recently I have not had enough resources to build a test environment. Does "testing" Exchange Server 2010 infrastructure have
a real life purpose considering the fact that only internal email flow is possible since authoritative SMTP accepted domain is not hosted anywhere thus not visible to outside world. This limited email flow combined with absence of possibility to test
ActiveSync, Outlook Anywhere, OWA from WAN, . . . really hurt and make Exchange Server rare technology that can not be tested completely before introducing something new into the production. Services that are not possible to test from the outside world are
useless and whole point of Exchange-like technologies is availability from anywhere and from whatever device.

I set up Internet Send Connector (by default this type of send connector uses DNS MX records to route email automatically). Having sent an email to my gmail account I did not receive it and in transport logs I saw that mx record was found successfully
but there is the following line:
2014-08-05T20:39:51.942Z,Internet Connector,08D17F000FE36010,1,,2a00:1450:4013:c01::1b:25,*,,"Failed to connect. Error Code: 10051, Error Message: A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable network 2a00:1450:4013:c01::1b:25"
I tried also to send an email to my production email address (we have Symantec Messaging Gateway which is used as a smart host (antispam, antimalware, content filter appliance)) but then error is:
2014-08-05T20:50:08.395Z,Internet Connector,08D17F000FE36019,1,,91.238.7.10:25,*,,"Failed to connect. Error Code: 10061, Error Message: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 91.238.7.10:25"
Telnet from test exchange to 91.238.7.10 on port 25 also is not working.

  • Best Practice - Hardware requirements for exchange test environment

    Hi Experts,
I'm new to exchange and I want to have a test environment for learning, testing ,batches and updates.
In our environment we have co-existence 2010 and 2013 and I need to have a close scenario on my test environment.
I was thinking of having an isolated (not domain joined) high end workstation laptop with (quad core i7, 32GB RAM, 1T SSD) to implement the environment on it, but the management refused and replied "do it on one of the free servers within the live production
environment at the Data Center"... !
I'm afraid of doing so not to corrupt the production environment with any mistake by my configuration "I'm not that exchange expert who could revert back if something wrong happened".
Is there a documented Microsoft recommendation on how to do it and where to do so to be able to send it to them ??
OR/ Could someone help with the best practice on where to have my test environment and how to set it up??
    Many Thanks
    Mohamed Ibrahim

I think this may be useful:
It's their official test lab set up guide.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/15392.test-lab-guide-install-exchange-server-2013.aspx
Also, your spec should be fine as long as you run the VMs within their means.

  • Forefront for exchange 2010 setup wizard preinstall update request

I'm trying to install FPE, but even before I install and after the extraction of the files im getting the following error message on both my CAS servers.
I have the following roles installed on this Client Access Server im using for the initial install of Forefront.
Do I need to install active directory domain services before I continue.

    Hi,
Firstly, please refer to the similar thread below:
    FSEMachinePrep.exe
    fails saying Server Unavailable
    Based on my research,
Microsoft Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server (FPE) can be deployed on Exchange Edge Transport, Hub Transport, Mailbox server, or combined
    Hub/Mailbox roles.
Exchange 2010 requires Active Directory to be in place except for the Exchange 2010 Edge role (for DMZ) which can be deployed in a workgroup with Active Directory Lightweight
Directory Services. Both Exchange (Mailbox, HUB and CAS role) and therefore FPE requires an Active Directory on site.
Did you set up a domain environment for exchange server? If yes, please check the group membership of the user and make sure that it is a member of the Organization
Management role group. In addition, please also make sure that you can connect to the primary domain controller on the CAS servers.

  • Test environment on Linux BOXI R3.1

    Hi all,
i m planing to create a test environment for BOXIR 3.1 on VMWARE (Leptop). i will be thankfull for any best practice tips for this installation ..
    Thanks

    Hi;
on Linux installation when the installer fails to validate licence keys, it's usually an issue with the c++ libraries installed on the system that might be newer than the one used for the installer, you can try to install some compatibility libraries (on RedHat these rpms are named: compat-libstdc++ ... )

  • On maintaining test environment

    Hi ,
I would liketo setup a test environment for DBA in my office .
Will there be any licensing cost for downloading Oracle from OTN for installing in my office test environment .
Let me put it like this .. if I want to say test the installation of Oracle 11g(Imagine I do not have a license for 11g) ..... Do i have to buy any license for that ....
When I mean test .. i just mean testing Installation ....
If I want to test for say another example .... like a 2 node rac on vmware server .. do i need license for that .. I know that it doesnt require license if its for my personal system .. however if its in my office do we require a license ?
Please provide me your valuable inputs ..
    Regards
    Renjith Madhavan

    Asif Kabir,
Be very careful about making such statements. I wouldn't make such a statement on a forum.
    Renjith,
You should check with the Oracle Sales person dealing with your organisation.
You can see some guidelines from
    1. The Software Investment Guide and Price List at http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/pricing/index.html
    2. The Developer License at the download page at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/indexes/downloads/index.html#database
    See http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/indexes/downloads/index.html and
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/testcontent/standard-license-088383.html (this is the current version -- it might change -- always check the latest version online).
However, you should also consult your Oracle Sales person. Licenses and quantities are negotiated.

  • Revenue Recogntion - what is consequence of activating in test environment

We are about to setup RR, we have a lot of transaction in test environment for the item categories we will use RR with. What is the consequence of this?
We have no transactions for the type in production environment.
    Regards

Hi Simon - there would be no effect on the earlier orders which use the Item category assigned for RR purposes - so even when you move to production, it becomes effective for all new orders created.
However, while testing, find out what happens to:
    1) Orders processed which were created before RR set up
          a) partial orders processed before RR
          b) Full open orders processed before RR
    2) Orders processed which were created after RR set up
when you see the order document flow, you get the results - also you need to check the accounting document to  ensure correct postings.

  • How to test Bulk API against testing environment?

    Hi,
I need to be able to do testing of my code to import data and would like to do it without messing with live data. Is there any way to be able to have a testing environment for Eloqua that I would use to test my Bulk API imports?
    Thanks,
    Rami

Rami, you would need to get either a sandbox (if you are an existing client) or join the technology partner program and get a development instance.  See Getting Started With the Eloqua Platform for more details.
